  1. Try and have a normal Saturday and someone leaves the door open... i really want to lock this one up, but I have a feeling there's still some gold yet to be found.

  2. Nancy Pelosi called Harry Reid into her office one day and said, "Harry, I have a plan to win back Middle America in 2016!" "Great Nancy, but how?" asked Harry. "We'll get some cheesy clothes and shoes, like most Middle Class Americans wear, then stop at the pound and pick up a Labrador retriever. Then, we'll go to a nice old country bar in Montana and show them how much admiration and respect we have for the hard working people living there." So they did, and found just the place they were looking for in Bozeman , Montana. With the dog in tow, they walked inside and stepped up to the bar. The Bartender took a step back and said, "Hey! Aren't you Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi?" "Yes we are!" said Nancy, "And what a lovely town you have here. We were passing through and Harry suggested we stop and take in some local color." They ordered a round of bourbon for the whole bar, and started chatting up a storm with anyone who would listen. A few minutes later, a grizzled old rancher came in, walked up to the Labrador, lifted up its tail, looked underneath, shrugged his shoulders and walked out. A few moments later, in came another old rancher. He walked up to the dog, lifted up its tail, looked underneath, scratched his head and left the bar. For the next hour, another dozen ranchers came in, lifted the dog's tail, and left shaking their heads. Finally, Nancy asked, "Why did all those old ranchers come in and look under the dog's tail? Is it some sort of custom?" "Lord no," said the bartender. "Someone's out there running around town, claiming there's a Labrador Retriever in here with two a$$holes!"

  3. Regardless of one's idea of fairness, doing the right thing for the right reasons is its own reward. Regardless of the idiocy of their governments of folks's home states, allowing folks the ability to have the means to defend themselves is the right thing to do. Just because others act a fool, does not require us to act in kind.

  4. Probably not the best 1st post a bit out of left field... but giving you the benefit of the doubt I'll say... Stay out of the way and don't give the LEO's another person to worry about.

  6. Thanks for the great info guys. Budgetary concerns weighed in the decision, but I stopped at the LGS this morning and picked up an Anderson Mfg. complete lower and a pair of Magpul 30 rd. mag's (for $250 after tax and Background). I'll be shopping for uppers/parts as the budget allows, but I'm glad to have gotten these two parts out of the way given everything going on. Now I can spend a little more on the rest of the bits and pieces and hopefully end up w/ an item I'm happy with. They DID have the M&P Sport model complete for $659, which was very temping (can't build it that quality for that price), but the wife would castrate me if I dropped 700-clams right now, LOL! Thanks again! - K

  7. Picked this up from my FFL dealer yesterday. Scoped it today and shot a few factory rounds thru it and managed to shoot a 4.5" group at 750 yards with factory Hornady ammo.

  8. Went out yesterday "looking at guns" and came home with this. Been wanting one for a long time for the sole purpose to SBR. Sportsmans Warehouse in Chattanooga had one and here we are now. We all know whats next: let the wait begin. The real trouble is going to be finding a CZ stock kit for it I believe. Time to join all the email notification lists I guess! 10. My previous sarcastic remark aside, the Dallas Police HQ is currently under lockdown for an anonymous "credible" threat...Fox & CNN words. I hope a bunch of those Texas open carry rifle assholes don't show up to help. What a mess that would be.

  11. The technical reason is simply that TN honors all other states' permits by statute. It would have to amended by the legislature to change that. - OS

  15. Probably a standard spring loaded glass breaker. Some, like most on the handle of pocket knives and the like are solid and use brute force. ( Note: if using a solid one, it's easier to press in the corner where the logo has been etched in the glass, it's weaker there) Others, similar to a machinist center punch are pointed and spring loaded, set the point on the object and the press and it compresses the spring then "fires" the point. Simply easier to use, the machinist version is for accuracy.

  18. No smoking in my house anymore. So, I gotta go out where all the damn shootin' is. Hell, I might as well grab a couple of AR's and join in the fun. Hoping I can still tell who the bad guys are after a few beers and a fat one.

  19. I do go to Strategic Edge. I'm going to be doing a lot of OT at work, so I'll shoot you a PM when I get a chance to go again and we'll meet up! If you want to try out my Mega Pistol, let me know and I'll bring it along. Not sure what else I have that you'd want to shoot. Maybe the AR50-A1B 50 BMG? Here goes Tony when he tested it out...

  20. Yes you will be chastised for wanting to ban them; I was for suggesting we ban Illinois carry permits. I can have a gun in my car in Illinois, but to carry they want $300 for 5 years from out of state residents. Over 20 states recognize an Illinois permit; they don’t recognize any. I feel the same way about that as I do about our economy; protectionism is not a bad word. The state of Illinois, California or any other state will never need Tennessee to recognize a handgun permit; their citizens will. Gun carry laws are controlled by the state you are standing in; if they want to carry in their cars; that’s fine. But if they want to carry anywhere else; they need an HCP or reciprocity. Carry is controlled by the states; not the Feds. I don't want to ever see that change.

  22. Hope you enjoy the show. I never was a big fan but liked the first album. I saw a televised concert and it sure appeared Mr Axl lip-synced most of the songs. Maybe not but he looked pretty fake to me.

  23. Just received a MONSTER kick in the head! Mum just emailed me this pic..... That's little me in the back left corner. The guy to my right was one of my best friends,Simonn McCullough. He joined the Paras in '92 & spent a year in Northern Ireland. He was killed by an IRA booby trap whilst pulling a republican flag from the side of a protestant school wall in '94. The young kid one to the right of centre, back row is Adam Hope. He was recently promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major after 19 years service with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He made all the papers as being one of the last 2 British soldiers to be removed from Iraq. He & a company corporal were volunteering in a civvy hospital when the orders came through & basically told the Army to pound sand. They weren't leaving until ALL the civilians in the hospital had been evacuated to safety. They got a severe reprimand & a Military Cross for Gallantry for that. This is them now (right & left. Don't know the guy in the middle)

  25. So which do you guys think would be more accurate? 6.5 CM or 260 Rem? I might do something like a 50 Beowulf down the road. Seems it would be fun and a really effective CQB round.

  39. I seriously considered making mine a 260, but wanted to keep the barrel short enough to make it feasible to shoot off hand. To get the most out of the 260 you need at least a 26" barrel and that was just too long for what I wanted. Ended up with a 20" 308, but by the time I add the suppressor, it is still very long.
