Was in Everything Weapons this past week picking up a special order and saw the new 'urban grey' suppressor ready series that CZ has come out with. I held three of them and lo and behold a CZ 75 P-01 with the omega trigger jumped in my truck. Really like the trigger. Ran it through it's paces today in the woods shooting steel at about 20 yards. Ran and shot great. Was hitting very consistently both suppressed and straight up. Really sweet little gun. Love the color and how it fits my hand.4 points

Dave is probably right that we're so out of the norm that most salesmen don't know what to do. But find one that gets it, and they realize that's probably the easiest money they'll make all day. Invoice is readily available on about anything out there today. There's no reason someone should walk onto the lot not knowing exactly what the car with the options they want us going to cost. In my case, knowing invoice I called several dealerships and told them what I wanted, that it was going to be a cash deal, and that I was willing to pay a price that was $1000 above factory invoice including their doc fee which is almost all profit to the dealership. I gave them that number and simply asked if they were interested they give me a call back. Really it was a simple pass/fail. Beaman never even acknowledged my request. Rude, but I expect with all the condo owners who are already leveraged up to their eyeballs surrounding them they don't have to search too hard for business. Roberts Toyota called me back and emailed several times, but never got past, "why don't you come in, and we'll find you something at a payment you can afford." Frustrating. Toyota of Cool Springs was happy to work with me, but was really only interested in selling a truck that they found at one of their sister dealerships. It was 90% of what I wanted, but if I'm paying that much for a truck, you better believe I'm going to get what I want and not just take what you can find and act like you're doing me a favor because, "these things go fast you know?" The guys at Toyota of Murfreesboro found two trucks exactly like I wanted, one that was in freight and one that was in a dealership out west. They offered to get the first one or trade the dealer out west for a similar one. They had no problem doing the deal exactly like I wanted. The finance manager even said that a lot more people ought to buy cars this way. The dealership model that has existed for the last 50 years will change in the coming generation. Most people my age and below simply have no interest in going through that process to buy a car. Dealership associations have lobbied successfully to put a lot of protectionist practices in place, but this industry will be disrupted sooner or later.2 points

Double Cab TRD Off Road Long Bed. Black. With a moon roof of all things. The long bed model 7568 was the tough part. Apparently almost all of those get allocated out west where someone might actually put something in the back or something. I like the fuel economy of that new Atkinson cycle 6 cylinder they're putting in them. With the tow package, I'll barely strain it to pull my boat. While I don't expect to use that crawl control that they're putting on them that much, I'm in sand enough that it might come in handy.2 points

I am pretty sure our Elmer is gone. One bottle left in a hidey whole, I won't sell that one. There is fixing to be a glut of Blanton's. We bought a barrel of it. I assume other stores did as well. I have not taken the time to figure out how many bottles that is but it surely is a shiznit ton more than what has been around lately. I did sell a $1K bottle of Scotch yesterday, dude was totally buying it for his trophy shelf. I gave him a real strong discount to help him out. Boss was happy. It was the highest dollar one bottle sale I have ever made. Yay me!2 points

I actually bought a truck today at Toyota of Murfreesboro. They worked with me to source the truck I wanted and I got a good deal. It was a cash deal, so it was quick and pretty painless. It's interesting when you talk to several dealerships in a short period of time. You can tell the ones that really want to sell a truck. You can also clearly tell the ones that just don't care. Oddly enough knowing exactly what you want seems to do more harm than good on the typical lot. You really have to find someone who realizes, that while they may not make quite as much money, they also don't really have to do any actual work,2 points

about 2 yrs ago I acquired most of a Springfield Loaded in a box of parts. Leastways I know the barrel, slide and frame where a Loaded. So I put the frame together to accommodate my Nelson .22 1911 conversion. The frame has a 2.75lb trigger that works great with the .22LR conversion. I pulled out the bag of .45 slide parts the other day and discovered I was missing some stuff to make this a fully functional 1911 in .45ACP. It also came with a SA one-piece guide rod - which I hate. So got a new extractor, slide release/lock lever, and all the other slide parts except barrel and sights from MIdway. Converted it to GI recoil system. So here it is, nothing sexy or special, just works now with either .45acp or .22lr. Night sights too on the .45acp upper! .45acp upper .22LR upper1 point

Truthfully, I'm 41 and this is the first new car I've ever bought. There's definitely some truth to the saying that for most people, their car is the reason they're poor. Add in multiple cars and being upside down in vehicles, and you dig a hole that's hard to get out of. For all of my adult life, I've driven sub $10000 cars that I've paid cash for. And, man have I gotten my money's worth. A reliable car is really a necessity in today's suburban America. I've only lived two places where I really didn't need a car - Manhattan and Seattle. Both have excellent mass transit, and I was single in both cases. Seems like for most of us these days, the line between wants and needs is really blurred. In this case, I bought a new truck because my financial advisor showed me that the money was leaving my account one way or another - either to the Feds in taxes or to Toyota. Basically, it's the one benefit you get as a small business owner. I used my bank to get a simple loan when we bought my wife's truck when we had our third kid. We bought it right when cash for clunkers was going on, and there just wasn't much available in the range we wanted to spend. We had the cash, but decided to hold onto some of it to keep the emergency fund a bit higher. I think it was a 2.5% loan for 2 years. The dealership was appalled that we would qualify for so much but didn't want it. It's going to take a while, but the current model is going to change. Either the Teslas and Apples of the world will just start selling direct, or the Ubers and Lyfts will just start supplying their own cars. It may take a generation, but what we've got now isn't going to last.1 point

Get about a foot of so of the plastic hose they sell for aquarium pumps. Put one end of hose over the back of the gas tube, and blow air through while aligning the block. Perfect alignment every time. Especially useful on funky barrels with no shoulder for the gas block. Lining up the ports in "two dimensions" as it were gets tricky... but this method gets them just right no problem.1 point

Big thanks to everyone who set up and run the match today. I ran off to Rockcastle and did the 3 man 3 gun match. Thanks Joe1 point

The bad thing about that is, lowers can't just stay lowers, they want to grow up and be a real AR someday, requiring more cash outlay.1 point

I think the default setting today is "how much will the payments be?", and "can I qualify for the loan?". Anything beyond that realm blows most new car salesmen's mind. You and I are dinosaurs, McGyver, with our cash payment and such.1 point

That's something we can't have on this side of the pond. And I agree with Caster... Can't fit much back there. IMHO, if the cab is bigger than the bed, it ain't a pickup. Truth be known (and call me a redneck) I'd rather have an El Camino.1 point

Sorry late reply. Got it fixed. Either gas block was misaligned or buffer weight was too heavy. My guess is gas block was misaligned. Reason I don't know is I replaced the stock with Troy PDW which uses one piece BCG buffer assembly and I reinstalled gas block. So one of those corrected the issue. Now it even cycles and locks back with 220gr subsonic unsuppressed.1 point

I guess I'm just confused. Why would you think a person that did so poorly would be able to beat Clinton? I mean, that kinda smacks math in the face Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

So instead of stockpiling like they do (the smart thing) we just blow stuff up and then come back wanting more money to replace it. Complete ignorance.1 point

They should have just taken every AK we confiscated in Iraq and Afghan, and stuck it in a warehouse in Kuwiat. More than enough to get the ball rolling on what they need this for. This is probably a workaround to the import bans that the President set up a few years back after the Russians annexed Crimea. I'm fine with keeping money out of Russian hands by building them in-house...but I'm not thrilled at who they might go to. Historically, arming foreign fighters has been a 10-20yr plan to having those weapons turned on us.1 point

I agree Dave, all the more reason to vet the candidates for State legislative office and to get involved in the campaigns. Keyboarding about Rights or what should be is one thing. Putting our money where our mouth is what needs to happen. Letting Jon Lundberg take Ramsey's senate seat is the worst thing that could happen for our shared interest. He is a puppet for the Haslam control manifest. Tony Shipley is a friend our endeavors to remove restrictions on lawful carry, and is an anti-Haslam candidate for that seat. Sending Sargent home is just as important. These races may not be in your district, but they are very important to the effort.1 point

Exactly....and you're allowed to carry openly but not under your coat. Really? The 2nd doesn't say you can't carry or even under your coat but some liberal judge want's to nit pick it to death. I'm sorry but I find this kind of ruling ridiculous no matter what some arm chair lawyers seem to think.1 point

If the locals won't play ball, fly-n-buy, and enjoy the road trip home. I have zero patience with car dealers. With so many to choose from, there's no reason to cut them any slack. They're kinda like lawyers... 99% of them give the rest a bad name.1 point

In general I do my best to ignore the existence of government at every turn. In the case of an arms registration I would view it as not just my baseline tendency, but a moral imperative. The government doesn't get a list of what arms I possess because #### you, that's why.1 point

I've had this done for a while but been bitten by the suppressor bug so my poor little sbr has been neglected haha. CMT TGO billet upper and lower, PSA premium bcg, BCM Mod 4 charging handle, ALG QMS trigger, Seekins Precision stainless match .300 blk barrel, Seekins Precision bolt catch and mag release, Samson Evo 9 inch rail, DoubleStar adjustable gas block, SilencerCo ASR muzzle brake (waiting on Omega to get out of jail), Magpul CTR stock, Hogue grip, Vortex Sparc 2, and Magpul ASAP. I think that's everything. I have a set of QD 30mm A.R.M.S. mounts just waiting for a good scope. My wallets just waiting for the money to buy said scope. Well, here it is. And the last picture is with my 5.56 upper that's usually on my pistol lower. I'm heading out to OK Corral tomorrow with some friends to run them along with my new Glock 19, and another AR build that I haven't fired yet.1 point
