  1. We go through similar conversations any time a new range opens up... "They won't let me shoot reloads there? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They require me to buy and shoot their ammo? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They require a safety class before letting me shoot on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me do rapid-fire shooting on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot my .454 Casull on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot my NFA items on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot human-shaped targets on their range? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They charge HOW much? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me shoot from a draw? I'll never darken their doorstep!" "They won't let me take head-shots on the targets? I'll never darken their doorstep!" Guess what, folks. There are plenty of people who will do whatever the requirements are to shoot on a state of the art facility. Clearly the people signing the big fat check to build the range get to dictate whatever terms they want. It's a free country. The NRA isn't perfect but no organization is. Church, fraternity, civic organization, take your pick. All have detractors. Only the NRA has a pimp-ass state of the art shooting facility about to be built in Murfreesboro. Besides, for each of you who say you won't shoot there, that's one more person I don't have to wait in line behind when I want to go shoot.

  6. I use photo studio light stand bags for some, and a soft guitar case works well for ARs or longer guns. You can use Kaizen foam to make a nice insert for a guitar case. Light stand bags come in various sizes, often padded, and fairly inexpensive.

  11. The hardness of the lead is NOT the problem. The problem is, most people cannot or will not understand the whole dynamic. FIT is everything. The bullet size as well as how it fits the throat means EVERYTHING. The hardness needed for a specific load is totally dependent on the velocity one is trying to achieve. I have shot 50/50 wheel weight lead and soft lead in Glock barrels with a properly fitted bullet at modest speeds and have never seen lead in my barrels. Casting is just like tuning a motor. If all you wanna do is slap headers and a four barrel on, you're wasting your time. THE WHOLE engine must be tuned for what you plan on doing with it.

  14. I can't imagine any good reason not to be in the NRA right now. If nothing else isn't it worth $35 every year to see so many liberals piss themselves over the NRA? If you're a gun owner, and you aren't in the NRA you seriously need to ask yourself what you are doing to ensure our 2A rights for the future.

  15. There is absolutely no telling where gun laws would be right now without the new and more intractable NRA that has evolved since the AWB. Indeed, if membership falls, that simply means less voter power to hold over the heads of pols nationwide that will support more and more restrictive gun rights. It's amazing what the NRA has been able to influence with only its 5 million or so members currently. Think if there were 25 million. I'm thinking that with the continuing wimpification of America, that 5 mil won't be nearly enough to sway the anti-gun sentiment translating to law (especially federal) ere long. - OS

  24. This Homer too! 75 SP-01 is my favorite of the stock models. I have an SP-01 Shadow and love it. I had an SP-01 Decocker model that I sold and it was great. That gun was just used to take third in the ORSA IDPA State Competition Marksman division this past weekend. (Not me shooting it!) I also have a 75 Compact sitting at CZ Customs getting a full work over. I love my CZ's. I doubt I'll pick up too many more non CZ pistols. Itchy is the guru on them and got me hooked on CZ's.

  29. I will also say, aside from poor casting/reloading practices, the other BIG contributing factor to leading problems in a poly barrel is plain ole laziness. I know we all joke that we don't clean a Glock but dadgum people! Take a look at your equipment once in a while.

  30. Before I knew a thing about casting, alloys, polygonal barrels etc. I fired over 1500 rounds of cast bullets from my Glock 23 with no issues that I noticed. These were purchased .401 bullets and I never measured to check if that is what they actually measured so either I got real lucky or there just isn't much to it. The only difference I did notice is that they bulged the case mouth more than my fmj or hollow points, but they passed the plunk test so I went with it.

  31. You're correct. The tines were to keep the mine off the surface of the tank, increasing it's effectiveness. They also allowed the mine to pull double duty as a Garden Weasel.

  32. I have used hard cast 175gr SWC bullets in a G20 with no problems. Ran them pretty warm and they did great. Soft lead is the big no-no in Glocks and similar barrels.

  33. Old trigger holes from how it was imported are tig'd and cleaned up the mag block caused me to redo my right side sear hole so had it tig'd back up, cleaned up and redrilled Sure, I like to be creative. What's left of an AK sear I used to make the new sear for this thing. Biggest pain in the ass was the mag block. Holy crap batman... Close to 6 hours modifying it over and over again. Finally all cleaned up, mag block welded back in. No more rivets holding it in the receiver. The new trigger guard isn't here yet, along with the new stock. So I threw the old stock on and placed a grip next to it. Hoping they come tomorrow.

  36. I agree. I'm not picking on TN, Sumner county or even Gallatin/ Bethpage with that comment. Just people. We we had a lady arrive today while we were working on the water. Her ride dropped her off, she claimed to be waiting for a real estate agent. I wasn't aware of a showing today, checked with our selling agent and she wasn't aware of one either. The lady, meanwhile had disappeared. The house and all the buildings were locked, she was sitting in the tall grass out by the woods. When she saw us walking around she laid down. We advised her that without an agent and an appointment she would need to leave, so she got up and walked the 1/2 mile down the gravel drive and started walking down the paved road. As she was leaving, we found she had left behind a garbage bag of food, clothes, blankets and drinks. That's when the SCSO was called. Compliments to them, an officer was here much sooner than I expected and had the lady in his vehicle. He was extremely helpful and professional, and ended up taking the lady and her trash bag of belongings away. The lady claimed she was meeting her agent to close on the house today, and the bag of stuff was so she could move in. I think the last part of that is the only true part. The house and shop are both locked and alarmed, but the barn is not. The officer said it wasn't uncommon for people to try and find rural properties that had been on the market for a while and try to camp out there. The better half is down here every few weeks to check up on things, and the realtor should be coming up to the house and doing a good walk around every couple of days now. The officer said they would have the patrols actually come up the gravel road and check on the house more often as well. He gave me his card, saI'd if I need anything to call him. All in all, a nice guy and a very positive LEO experience. As for my project, we have 2,400' of new water pipe in the ground. I need to make three more connections, leak test and backfill then I'm done.

  37. No crappie, just a few bluegill. We were only out for about 2 hours. It's hard to really fish when all the pleasure boaters are knocking you around and the 2 year old is trying to jump out the back of the boat I found some schools of crappie or whitebass on a flat right off the channel but could not convince any of them to bite. It was hard staying on them with the wind and waves. Good luck.

  38. Personally, I wouldn't paint a concrete floor. It's been my experience that anything you paint will have to be re-painted. You'll be turning a low-maintenance surface into a high-maintenance surface. But, it's your floor.

  42. I bet they will. Ronnie has taken some pretty positioned stances before and I can see them doing this. He won't sell his 50cal to the State of California for example. He said if the people can't have them, he wouldn't sell them to the State either. While the NRA isn't perfect, they certainly do more than almost any other organization to help protect 2A.

  45. This is a Rifle Shop kit that is one of the most rare BP rifles out there. The kit comes with a finished barrel and breech screw. Most all the rest of the parts including the brass all come in raw dropped out of the mold condition with pour sprues sticking out. If you ever order one of their kits, spend the extra $100 and have them put the lock together. That way they will fit, finish and harden the springs and related parts. They did nice color case hardening on the frizen and other hardened parts but the rest of the lock will still need to be resurfaced from the sand blasted cast surface. The first pictures shows how I lined up the barrel wedge loops with the drill, then slip the stock on the chucked up barrel so there is an accurate guide hole drilled in the wood for the 3 barrel wedge holes. Im not a big wood work guy but I struck up a friendship with they guy I bought my home from and agreed to build this gun for him. I installed a TC touch hole liner for practical reasons.
