  1. We had a gun conversation at work. It went something like this: When I arrived the supervisors and the owners were standing around. They ask if I had a gun. I said yes, it’s in the car. They ask if I would please put it on. A co-worker had carried a shot gun into the facility, walked out back, cranked off a couple of rounds and left. He then called and threatened to kill a couple of people. When the cops went to his house to arrest him there was an armed standoff before he was taken into custody. Situations like that will educate people that have never been around real violence or violent people. Luckily no one was killed.

  5. This bumper sticker would deter gun thieves but you might have more problems with vandals. Anybody want to test one of these out?. I don't think I could even stomach this one in the garage, but then again I don't even have a garage you can call home and ask my wife.

  6. I'm gonna say DLC because I think it aesthetically fits the knife better. I'm in for whatever the serial number I got on my magic is. I'll update when I get home in a couple weeks unless you know what it is.

  7. It is Hampton of course. I was raised in Williamsburg and moved to TN in 2005. I don't think one time my parents said in the 29 years I lived there "Hey, you wanna drive to Hampton/Newport News for such and such?" Stickers get stuck on stuff in the garage not on my vehicles.

  8. I understand minimizing risk. Hell, I carry a gun for that exact reason. However, I absolutely refuse to live in fear. I will not scour every aspect of my outward appearance of all signs that might possibly single me out as a gun owner. I don't want guns in the hands of criminals any more than the next guy, but I have insurance to cover my losses in the event of a robbery. I hope I never have to use the insurance, just like I hope I never have to use my gun to defend myself/family. Until that happens...KEEP CALM AND CARRY

  12. A Wave Of The Future A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale hits the Middle East. Two million Muslims die and over a million are injured. Iraq, Iran and Syria are totally ruined and the governments don't know where to start with providing help to rebuild. The rest of the world is in shock. Britain is sending troops to help keep the peace. Saudi Arabia is sending oil & monetary assistance. Latin American countries are sending clothing. New Zealand and Australia are sending sheep, cattle and food crops. The Asian countries are sending labor to assist in rebuilding the infrastructure. Canada is sending medical teams and supplies. President Donald Trump, not to be outdone, is sending two million replacement Muslims. God Bless President Trump.

  18. Specwar is great but technology has advanced. Hyrbid is cool but friggin huge. Usually one thing that does everything doesn't really do anything that well. I'm sure it's a great can for what it is. I like the concept. Saker is is over engineered in a good way. But it's loud. Omega takes the best of all the cans and sums it up into one. :-)

  27. Freedom of the press should not be a pass to lie to the public. Outright lies or misleading journalism should be challenged both legally and in the court of public opinion such as is being done here. I can understand left or right leaning stories (reporters are somewhat human), but to be actively deceiving the public with omissions and lies should not be tolerated. To me Freedom of the press should be to let them report the truth, no matter who it's against.
    1 point
  28. But the press lying to people does effect others exactly infringing on their rights, and they hide behind the 1st while doing it. And to your point of believing what they see/hear, how else are they supposed to form an opinion? No one on this earth can be everywhere at once to witness everything that happens. That's why integrity in journalism is so important to be given the protection in the first place. That freedom was given to them because the English Monarchy did not allow them to print things against them; not so that they can make-up whatever bull they felt like printing.

  30. At one time, I ran three devices and each device has to have it's own subscription. I tried the one device in multiple vehicles but found that it wore the connections out quick (Had the Roadie) and had to keep buying new devices as a result. That's when I bought three and just left em in the places I was using them. Unless they have changed customer service, it is a loooong drawn out sales pitch to do one simple task. I got so I hated to call. You cannot suspend your subscription on a device via the internet account, you HAVE to call, and you should plan on wasting at least 15 minutes on "enticements" before you can actually achieve your goal of why you called. One of the last times I called, I told the lady that I didn't want to hear any of the sales pitch, I called for this reason only and still she persisted in wasting my time and hers before my task was completed. I had it set up to automatically bill every quarter, and when my card expired, I let the subscriptions go. I sorta miss it, but sorta don't too.

  31. We have lived next to the Cherokee National Park Bear reserve for 11 months now and just saw our first bear today, just before lunch. It apparently was checking out the flower bed on the end of the house, when my wife came home and spooked it. I was sitting in the living room and heard the driveway alarm but before my wife could get the rest of the way up the drive I heard something big coming on the front deck. I look up to see a black blur go buy the front windows. I look out the bedroom window to see a bear sitting on the far end of the porch. I go out the back door and told my wife to stay in the car and went back in and grabbed my camera to take some shots out the window. About that time I heard it go over the porch railing and down probably 12-14 feet. I went out on the deck and got a couple of pictures. Then remembered I had moved the trail cam to the side of the house the day before because something was digging in the flower bed (turned out to be a raccoon). So I pulled the card and this was one of the better pictures I got. Not a huge bear, probably around 100lbs.

  32. Unfortunately, museums aren't always the best source for preservation information, you can find many horror stories on the net about neglected items in museum inventories that were ruined by decades of improper storage in basements and such. Museums, like all entities, have budget restrictions, many of the items donated to them have been ruined by lack of care and preservation throughout the years. Longtime collectors with deep pockets often do a far better job of preservation than any museum ...

  39. Interesting experiment. I misappropriated 6 of my wife's thick rubbery hair bands. The barrel is 28.5" Urban Rifle Supply in a Ruger 1022 receiver, Kidd bolt, Boyds stock with Rimfire Technologies bedding system, Japan vintage Tasco 8.5-32-44 AO Target Dot, DNZ one-piece scope rings, trigger by Plinker4life. Barrels, regardless of how thick, oscillate 360 degrees when the bullet is fired through it. By moving the rubber bands over the length of the barrel changes can be made in the oscillation - that is theory. I wonder if it would improve centerfire benchrest rifles? I've used rubber o-rings and rubber castration rings, but these hair bands seem to work more dramatically. I was shooting some slightly larger than one hole groups with the bands as you see them, I moved 2 up within 1" of the end of the barrel and the groups was still tight but lower. The barrel is supported in front of the receiver and has a closed cell foam barrel pressure pad 1" behind the end of the stock.

  43. And deceptive "journalism" can damage the business. Opinion is one thing. Although, based on what I can tell, lying to a liberal base is perfectly acceptable. Look at Hillary, and our POS in Chief.

  44. This is exactly why I view the media as nothing but propaganda for their political wings (and the views of their corporate owners) anymore. It would be nice to get real news with all the facts and no bias. You know, real investigative reporting and letting the facts speak for them selves so viewers could make informed decisions. But that isn't happening now and I do not see it happening anytime in the near future.

  48. That's smart and what I may do. I may try and type up a short letter simply thanking them for their attention and then express to them that although they may have no interest at all, and that I respect that decision if that so be, but that I would be honored to be able to give them a safe introduction to firearms and correct some facts that I feel the media typically skews the truth on. I personally feel that I doubt either would take me up on it but I do feel it would be a good thing.
