  1. Here, try this out. It is still a work in progress and may change a little (or a lot) before I am really happy with it, but let me know what you think. At the bottom right of the screen click the link that says "Theme" and change it to the one called "TGO Darker".

  3. So I had a friend, who is very very liberal, post a KNS article about the new Hall Tax law that was passed and signed by Haslam. I replied that for me, as a business owner, a reduction in Hall Tax is not only fair, but better for me. Of course, another liberal who has no clue what he's talking about replied that what does the Hall Tax have to do with business owners? Well, only that most businesses in TN are stock based, so most businesses can pay out dividends to stock owners if it wishes. Since most small businesses are LLC's or Sub S, this is very important. Another great comment from this guy, "You don't create jobs, demand does." That's false because some businesses DO create jobs AND demand, not just meet demand (my business does both). Then he said that any smart accountant can get past the $1250 limit on the Hall Tax by simply paying out as a bonus. I pointed out that you'd still pay 15.2% FICA tax, federal income tax, state business & unemployement tax, and local business tax on that bonus. My wife also just pointed out that bonuses are actually taxed at a higher tax rate than your normal income tax rate, so it's a really bad idea to do it that way if you can pay out dividends. I honestly wonder if most people have any clue how businesses work at all. Do most employees understand that a business pays an extra 7.6% on all their wages? That they also pay another % in unemployement on all their wages? Or that many businesses pay a % for workers comp on all their wages? Or that a business pays tax on every single piece of equipment used in their business each year? Every machine, desk, computer, chair, etc. owned by the business. Roughly on every dollar a business pays an employee, the business spends at least another $.15-20 in taxes. People have no clue about any of this stuff. But hey, lazy people and those who keep making bad choices because they are not forced to make good choices need free stuff ya know?!

  4. I made this for family so I knew it was going to be a PITA before I ever started. As of this moment I'll probably never make another. It's 3/16" thick 1095 carbon steel with a 6" blade. The finger guard and pommel are SS and they are silver soldered to the tang. The handle is black mesquite and Chakta Viga with red and black G10 spacers.

  6. Whoa whoa whoa. We need to reset your expectations, because I'm a team of one doing these software upgrades and modifications, and this is a hobby for me -- NOT a full time job and honestly not even a part time job if you calculate the number of hours I work at it versus what little I "make" (the vast majority of which goes right back into the forum anyway). My day job consists of pissing off software teams like yours, demanding the moon on a budget, pretty much like what you described. You could argue that maybe this is karma in that sense, but I really don't have the resources at my disposal to sit here and go through an iterative process of constant improvement to tweak the software to meet everyone's desires. That's what Invision Power is supposed to be doing, and even they will tell you they don't have that sort of resource pool at their disposal either. Sorry if this seems a bit like I'm venting but every so often I get a glimpse into what I think must be people's perceptions of how TGO operates. I guess I should feel flattered if you hither to thought that we were a big company or something, but seriously, one dude. Me. Doing it between my full time job, time with family, and time I probably ought to be doing other stuff.

I go offshore Sunday so I will resume taking knives in to sharpen when I return 4 to 5 weeks Before the end of the year I plan on buying a Tormek T8 system, that is an awesome Swedish water cooled sharpening system that will allow me to do large blades that the Wicked Edge will never be able to do, with both systems I will be able to sharpen damn near everything

Whoever coated it did a great job (to my inexperienced eyes) Need a little advice, has an SK rail which replaces the rear sight, so I need a scope...I'm thinking 100 - 300 yard shooting...keep in mind that I've got $150 in the rifle...would buy used...recommendations?

  13. We bailed early. We planned to stay all weekend, but I've been home since about 4:30 today. As was said above, mostly the same stuff as last year. 2 days was enough...Well, a day and a half with all that %$#*&^$$#$#%$#^^)#!@ Traffic! Overall, I was thoroughly unimpressed. While it's large enough, the KEC is not particularly nice, at least not the South Wing where the exhibit hall was held. Especially when compared to the Music City Center. The main concourses made me feel like I should be trying to get tickets to a RATT concert, circa 1988. Whichever retarded monkey humper thought that a two-lane street is enough to funnel traffic off of a 6-lane Interstate into a facility that can handle north of 100,000 people and co-located with a theme park should be forced to have Caster slam his nuts in a car door....repeatedly.....until Caster decides he'd rather go to Atlanta....which could be a while. Parking at KEC is NOT capable of handling an event that large. I was forced to park in the grass on Friday, but was fortunate enough to get out (4:30'ish) just before the mass exodus began and the grass turned into a mud hole. Tow truck drivers were busy for many hours getting people out. There's NOTHING nearby the KEC. Even the neighboring hotels aren't particularly walkable. Finally, Louisville as a city is kind of boring. There's not a lot downtown, and areas like Bardstown Rd. with good restaurants and bars are so spread out that you have to drive from place to place....where you can't find parking. Several folks at our hotel and more than a few vendors said many of the same things. Nashville was exceedingly better than this one. I hope this is the last one in Louisville. I can promise you it was mine.

  14. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/05/20/furniture-firepower-gun-sales-drive-specialty-concealment-craze.html?intcmp=hpbt3 Published May 20, 2016 Rising gun sales have triggered a new trend in furniture fashion -- coffee tables, cabinets, headboards and hutches with secret compartments for firearms. 'Gun concealment furniture' sales, once the province of solitary craftsmen making custom goods have gone mainstream, allowing firearms owners to maintain easy in-home access to hidden handguns and rifles. “There are a lot of people who don’t want a big iron safe,” said Dan Ingram, owner of NJ Concealment Furniture, based in Hampton, N.J. “There are a lot of people who don’t even have room for one, but they still need someplace to safely store their guns.” Ingram, a longtime cabinet maker, started building the special furniture four years ago after getting inspiration from the online gun community. “At the time, I was on a lot of online gun forums and there was a constant complaint,” he said. “People wanted something with quick access when they needed their weapons to keep their homes safe which is why they bought the guns in the first place. Related Image Expand / Contract Furniture maker Dan Ingram says more people are looking for alternatives for storing firearms in the home. (NJconceal.com) Ingram’s first design was a simple nightstand with a side compartment to hold a pistol. From there, he began designing and fabricating other items, such as wall shelves, coat racks, desks and hutches. Soon the specialty line became the company mission. “I eventually closed my main cabinetry business,” he said, adding that he has seen more and more interest in his products as gun sales have gone up. His products draw a steady stream of curious future customers at gun shows, Ingram said. Related Image Expand / Contract A coffee table from Ingram's NJ workshop. (NJconceal.co) Related Image Expand / Contract Shelves like this one have proven to be one of the more popular and most affordable options. (NJconceal.co) “We often draw a crowd of 30-40 people looking at our products," he said. "They wind up calling their friends over to check it out.” Small and large furniture manufacturers alike are coming up with more creative ways to design furniture that not only provides safe keeping, but also easy access. Related Image Expand / Contract A corner hutch unit with secret panels for rifle storage. Major outdoor outfitters including Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops sell ottomans, benches and other furniture with built-in, locking gun compartments. Smaller furniture companies including Stealth Furniture, Secret Compartment Furniture and Heracles Research also specialize in gun concealment furniture. Michigan inventor Frank Marshall built a headboard that enables anyone lying on the bed to go from dream to draw in one quick motion - provided the built-in safety latch is unlocked. Dubbed The Gun Bed, Marshall's creation hides a 12-gauge shotgun behind a spring-loaded panel that, when pressed, drops the gun in the owner's hands. “It has no place to go but your hands,” Marshall said. A key challenge for Ingram and other manufacturers is to make the furniture as secure as a traditional gun safe, to ensure against household accidence or children getting their hands on the weapons. “I come from a law-enforcement family, so we all grew up with a shotgun in the bedroom,” Marshall said. "But my grandkids did not grow up that way, and when they were running through my house during a visit, I realized I needed a way to safely store my shot gun, but still have a way to quickly get to it if needed during a home invasion.” Marshall has employed the help of a cabinet maker to help with manufacture, and while his business is in its infancy, demand and interest in his Gun Bed has grown. “We sold just under 100, but we are getting more and more inquiries every day,” he told FoxNews.com. “There seems to be a growing demand, and I think it’s tied to people’s concern about the economy and where things may be headed."

Even I can find my way around. Can things be better? Well of course but no matter what gets upgraded there will always be something that's easier or faster or whatever. Holy moly.....Maybe cause I'm old and remember walking around without a phone or having stinking home computers this seems like magic. So for me what you've done here is great and as long as why I fire the puter up and TGO magically appears on the screen and works as well as it does I'm in hog heaven. Things could be worse......a lot worse.

  21. I have a Kubota L3250. It has 40 hp at the engine, and 32 hp at the pto according to specs. I've had it for about 14 years now. It is the perfect size for grading the driveway, making a garden, and mowing a large lawn. It'll operate a 6' bush hog, finishmower, or boxblade with ease. My Kubota will crank in hot weather, cold weather, any weather with ease. It also uses very little fuel. It's been a great tractor. If I ever wear it out, I'll likely replace it with another Kubota. I wouldn't want one much smaller.

  22. Here's a side by side comparison of all four sizes. I also think the RTIC tumblers are a little more ergonomic / easier to hold. I wear a size Medium glove so my hands aren't exactly big, and the Orca 27oz is honestly pushing the limit of what I can wrap my fingers around and keep a good handle on. The RTIC tumblers have a "shoulder" manufactured into them and that makes them a little easier to get good purchase on.

I have a lot of steep property and have nearly tipped everything I've had on it. Min actually considering a Mahindra over the kubota for weight, HP and price. If your land isn't that steep though, I would go big!

  27. Open question. Is it a possible option to swap the functions of clicking the thread title(currently goes to first post) and clicking the small icon next to the title (currently goes to first unread post)? I suspect that most are like me and naturally click the thread title expecting to go to the first unread post. I obviously realize that you can click the other, however, I find I still have a hard time hitting the small icon with my fat fingers. I personally would love to have them swapped, but don't know if that is an option or if others would like it. I really have the issue on the mobile interface. It would probably make me miss Tapatalk less if it would go to the first unread post when clicking the main title Not trying to be a pain, I just wonder which way is more used by everyone. I could completely be in the minority.

  31. I guess this must all be regarding mobile devices, dunno, but on desktop monitor at recommended 1600x900 I'm running it -1 on sizing. On laptop at 1366x768, the default is okay but -1 is fine also. EDIT: Oops, I should say I was running the original theme that way. With the darker one, seems the default is better on both, must have been some font size changes involved already.

  33. I noticed the slower scrolling as well. I'm sure the CSS is way more complex with that theme and the semi-transparency of the layout probably adds even more burden to the device you're viewing from. I need to see about disabling the transparency; I think it might speed it up a lot. Thanks but if the majority here aren't happy, then there's no point in me being happy. I don't want to get into the situation of having built a place that I like but no one wants to visit. Thanks. I do want to make the text a little larger in the darker theme, though. That should be pretty easy to accomplish.

Or elsewhere of course. Reholstering seems to be involved with many occurrences, so that should be taken quite seriously. While a quick draw can certainly be beneficial, a quick reholster is almost never needed. - OS

Selling the pistol that killed a famous gangster, say Bonnie and Clyde, sure that's historic. Selling a pistol used in a self defense shooting is just bad taste to say the least. 49. I'm certainly no expert, but all the discussion and variations are because a Faraday cage is typically designed for a very specific set of circumstances.  It's designed to provide shielding from a known energy source (lightning, RF, electromagnetic, etc.), that may be inside or outside the cage.   Cages work both ways.... sometimes they're to protect what's outside the cage, sometimes they're to protect what's inside it, so they're inherently different.    I assume what you want is to protect your electronics from an EMP generated by a nuclear explosion.  That would be a large source of electromagnetic energy.  The only people who've researched that and really know the answer of what works is the government, and they're not talking about it.  So unless you know the energy signature (amplitude, frequency, etc.) of an EMP, you can't really make one specifically to block it.    Your idea of layering a few metallic containers with insulation will work as well as anything else.  The aluminum foil would probably repel a pretty low energy EMP.  The higher the energy you wish to repel, the more massive the metal structure needs to be so it has enough electrons to effectively block/transmit the energy away from what's inside the cage.
