On 4/27/16 the Senate (SB 1736) and House (HB 29033) Bills were signed by the Governor making places not required by law to be posted liable for injuries to hand gun permit owners if injured because they could not defend themselves due to their posting of no guns allowed. Need to get the word out to posted places that they are now liable. Maybe some of these businesses will now think twice about this9 points

Picked up several guns in an estate sale. There was a couple of oddballs in the bunch. Not really oddballs but guns you do not see very often. This is an early 50's Great Western Frontier single action in .357 Atomic. The .357 Atomic is basically a .357 mag +p. It uses the same case but is loaded a little hotter. For a brief time it was touted as the most powerful handgun cartridge. The .44 mag was created before atomic ammo went into production. In mid 1954 Great Western changed the roll mark to .357 magnum and that was the end of the .357 Atomic. The company sent me some renderings of what the finished product will look like. I took it a step further and did my own rendering in Photoshop to convey that "negative space" in the design will be stainless steel showing through. The black areas are laser engravings, permanently etched into the tumbler in black. This is just the RTIC tumbler but I have both this and the ORCA in 30oz sizes coming to me so that I can take photos and post for you all to see and then begin ordering.7 points

Here is a rifle you do not see everyday...A Ruger #3 Carbine in .30-40 Krag. This was another one of the guns I picked up in the estate sale. It also came with a letter from Ruger. This would make a great little deer gun. DOLOMITE SUPAFLY is a stand up guy who helps many people and speaks the truth. If you are gonna troll at least get his name right. I think it's funny that you are the only person that I have ever heard say anything good about Brad or his company, and your only 2 posts are both in this thread defending him. Somehow I don't think that is by accident. Maybe you are Brad?3 points

I wish they would just drop the penalty for carrying past a sign. That was one of the perks about living in FL. They could only ask you to leave and if you refused then you could be arrested. I used to carry at the movie theater all the time even though it was posted.2 points

Nope. Nope, you didn't get what you wanted. Nope. Didn't anyone read Garufa's post, and look at what actually passed? It doesn't copy/paste nicely for me, and I don't have time to clean it up afterward, but again, THIS is what the guv signed: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/109/Amend/SA0692.pdf - OS2 points

The AL State match was tough as always. Lots of movers. It was great hanging out with the boys in blue. My goal was to try and beat King, but he was on FIRE! Great shooting my friend. A well deserved bump.2 points

It was a really fun match today. My day sucked but Kennerh did great getting the bump to CDP EX. King shot lights out and got the bump to CDP MA. It was good to see all the TN shooters there.2 points

I am converting a double 12 Gauge into a slug /round ball gun The donor gun with 30 inch barrels [image]http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk271/zgunbear/20160421_203059.jpg[/image] Sight Bases installed [image]http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk271/zgunbear/20160423_180330.jpg[/image] Close up of rear sight base [image]http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk271/zgunbear/edited_1461897340867.jpg[/image] Completed Gun? The Lyman slugs grouped right and left but 3 inches separating the two groups. The .690 round balls stacked with the holes touching at 25 yards. I could shoot more because the rear sight detent could not handle the recoil. The rear sight slide decided it wanted to move forward under recoil. I think it shows potential just have to get a working rear sight and do load development.1 point

How about a Remington 700 AAC in .300 Blackout and add a PTG AR15 magwell to the factory stock? Maybe kinda expensive but does meet your criteria... http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/remington-700-detachable-mag-bottom-metal-dbm/9404-remington-700-short-short-action-sa-stealth-detach-mag-bottom-metal-for-ar-15-magazines-223-556.html1 point

Yes, I was looking at the DDI-12 as well. I have a strong urge to have an AR/AK style shotty. Unfortunately my urges are not backed by money at the moment.1 point

Interesting... I only use Lancer clear mags or D&H metal mags with my 300. Don't have any of either that I've ever used with 5.56. And, I ordered a bunch of the bands from the dude on the 300 blk forum. Once we move I'm adding a second safe that will be for 300 blk and shotguns only... It never got to the catastrophic stage but once a few years back I was in a real hurry to get to the range to get a little pistol time in. I grabbed my range bag and a bunch of mags. When I got to the range I had a 226 in 9mm, 357 sig/ 40 mags and a can of 45 acp... I opened the ammo box and was like crap... My buddy had plenty of 9mm with him so he offered to loan me some. I knew as soon as I started to load the first mag that there was a problem. After I looked at everything I decided I wasn't mentally enough in the game to be handling loaded weapons so I put everything in the car and spent the next couple of hours telling my buddy how terrible of a shot he was. Still had a good time... I almost didn't get into the 300 game because of that. I'm glad I did though as it is a blast to shoot... Mark1 point

I supported him at the start then of course this was before he went crazy for a bit then toned it down. I wish he'd just keep more of the presidential image. He was making me real uneasy for a time but yes he opposes most of which I oppose and he's not a career politician and right at this moment that's what's most important to me. It's not like I got to choose between a Lamborghini and a Ferrari. We were used car shopping for a Prez on the bargain lot. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.1 point

Traditional rifle sights on a pistol don't work well for me as I get older. I put XS big Dots on most of my pistols, good now. You don't really line anything up, just tee up the golf ball and shoot.1 point

I have a gen 2 G23 that I didn't shoot very often and was thinking about selling. I picked up a conversion barrel for it and now I have no plans to part with it. It fits my hand better then the 3 or 4.1 point

That old girl has done her fair share of work over the years. She has earned the right to hang on a wall or sit in the back corner of the safe. No need to batter her up now. If you were 150years old, you wouldn't want to work anymore either :)1 point

If talking for fun shooting, rig out a nice target pistol with 1) a red dot sight and 2) a single action usable trigger. This solves both problems nicely... red dots are often mentioned by older shooters as easier to use than irons when your near vision starts to act up. And a gentle trigger will prevent carpel tunnel burn and fatigue. Hand shakes are often a sign of weakness and can be overcome with exercise IF that is actually the issue. If you are starting to get parkinsons or something like that you will need to see a doctor. Try just holding your gun up in shooting position. I use a very heavy gun for this (my desert eagle, actually). Then when I switch to my 1911 it feels light! But a 3 pound weight will do it, or those heavy aerobics gloves or the like maybe. if its not for fun shooting, ... shoot less. Work thru a mag or two with your carry gun, ensure you can draw, fire, and hit torso quickly 5, 10 times. You don't have to burn out 2 boxes of 9mm every week to stay in practice. Consider here too a single action pistol.. I moved to lighter trigger guns as my hands went south (im younger but I wrecked my hands early). I now carry a sig p938 .. I feel no pain at all using that. I shoot mostly my tricked out target 22 for fun. I break out the others now and then but shooting elephant killing 44s in my revolver isn't as much fun as it was when I was 20 ... I had to back off the recoil and number of shots fired as I aged. I do it once in a while, but 12, 18 shots is plenty of that stuff.1 point

Being a well rounded individual is gonna be important. I'm a blacksmith, wood worker, logger, ASE mechanic, helicopter mechanic and motorcycle mechanic, and a martial artist. I'm also a draft horse farmer, shooter and I can butcher most game and livestock. The more basic homestead skills you have the better Sent from behind the anvil1 point

For a lot of these books, I look at them as information manuals in entertainment form; otherwise, I would be too critical of the writing in some of them. Rawles especially seemed to bounce around in his books, and the change from first person to third person in A. American's Going Home was annoying. Beside the interesting technical information, it is informative to see how various minds think a TEOTWAKI situation would play out. Many of them share similar plot points--city gangs spreading into the rural areas, the government turning on the people, etc. Is this because it is likely to happen that way, or because the small community of authors absorb and regurgitate the same ideas? It is disconcerting how frequently authors think people will turn to cannibalism and that the military will become tyrants over the people. I hope they are wrong.1 point

Abbott and Costello in their skit "Who's on First"? is what it reminds me of. As far as Obama not being able to figure out a way to defeat ths enemy. It is not his job to defeat them. It is his job to put the right people in charge of beating them but he is not even smart enough to do that. I bet when they moved into teh White House they ahd to put maps on all the walls so he and Mchelle could find their way around in the place...............jmho1 point
