I had bought two of GT's earlier knives as keepsakes for my boys. I decided I needed one for me! Inspired by East_TN_Patriot's bushcraft knife and sheath, I had GT make me one with micarta scales and ETP make me a holster. Incredible work on both ends!5 points

DOLOMITE SUPAFLY is a stand up guy who helps many people and speaks the truth. If you are gonna troll at least get his name right. I think it's funny that you are the only person that I have ever heard say anything good about Brad or his company, and your only 2 posts are both in this thread defending him. Somehow I don't think that is by accident. Maybe you are Brad?4 points

If you can't say anythng nice about Dolomite Supafly you better just not say anything at all. He is one of the most respected and helpful members on this site so I would suggest you take your attitude and go someplace else...........  .............MY NOT SO HUMBLE OPINION!!!!3 points

I have said it for years that "we" will do things out of spite like refuse to vote and now threaten to vote for Hillary if their chosen candidate isn't the nominee. People like that are not friends of the gun community or even a conservative. I HATE Trump and would prefer Cruz but I will not do ANYTHING to help Hillary get into office because she is worse for me, and the country, than Trump ever will be. Some do not realize that or do not care about the ramifications.3 points

I froze my credit years ago with the 3 major credit companies.. Now when I want to apply for any loan I have to unfreeze it. This type of thing happens far 2 often to not take a few steps to protect yourself. You carry guns to protect yourself from physical threads, one has to take steps to protect financially as well2 points

I drive a 2500HD with a diesel. Door placard says 65 front 80 rear. For day to day driving I run them all at 65, rotate them every 5k and got 65k out of the last set nice even wear. When I hual the trailer the rears go to 80. If I don't the handling is awful. Empty if I run them that hard the rear skips and chatters. This is my 4th HD truck and I learned this from following the advice of a good tire guy. He's seen more tires than I ever will... Wife's car I run the door placard pressure and we are expecting 70k+ from those tires. Again I am following the advice of my tire guy. The moral is in a good tire guy and follow his advice.1 point

I think there might be some over thinking on this. A DC to AC inverter back fed correctly to the panel can provide the power. Switching to 120v LED bulbs now will take care of the lighting. Cheap and simple. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk1 point

On the subject of heavier trucks, I'm much more inclined to back off a bit. E load range tires max inflation is 80 PSI but unless you are regularly hauling heavy loads, no way I'd run that much in the rear. The front is different because the engine and tranny are weighing on them a lot more than the back. This is very important in diesel cause that thing is HEAVY. I tell people in your case, unless you haul heavy loads, equal them out. Run 60 in all four. If you wanna haul a load of gravel or a couple dozen sheets of drywall, bump them up. Now, this is only conjecture from doing this for years, but I do not recommend running E load range tires much below 40 or so. Most E load range tires have tall sidewalls and they were never meant to sag and flex like a standard load tire. I have seen many of them wear prematurely from doing so. A guy not long ago just HAD TO HAVE some 10 ply tires. Well, first off, there's really no such thing for 99% of passenger vehicles and light trucks. They are 10 PLY RATED. Read the tire. It'll say 10 PR but in fine print it'll say 5 or 6 ply tread with a 2 or 3 ply sidewall. YMMV. Plys harken back to bias ply tires where the number ply actually meant something. Now, materials are exponentially better and more can be done with less. They didn't have rayon cord, steel belts and kevlar weave and all that crap. Anyway, this guy HAD to have them for a standard 1/2 ton truck (dumbass) but he couldn't stand the hard ride of 50 or 60 PSI and certainly not the 80 max, so he ran 35 like his door take says. They lasted around 30K. Should have run MUCH longer on a tight front end and properly rotated. He listened second go around and got over 60K out his standard load tire. Moral? It's no different than hunting or reloading. More ain't always less. Match the components to job. And while I'm on the subject, people and these Z rated tires just kill me. What a friggin joke that crap is. When's the last time you ran 160 MPH continuous? Most z rated tires have a tread wear of squat. A michelin Pilot may have a 600-700 tread wear but crap like pirelli P zero and others have like 250-300. They are NOT worth money. It's all in your mind people. Unless you're on the track or drive like a fool. No one needs them things on a Mustang they depend on to get to the office. ....Unless you just enjoy forking over money twice as much and then...by all means. Us tire guys are laughing all the way to the bank.1 point

Agreed. Reminds me of the current political hot-potato surrounding the bathroom debate. To hell w/ the millions of normal people, we need to infringe on their privacy so that 0.3% of the country's population isn't potentially offended. That's how you got the great Ford Explorer/Firestone recall. Ford was recommending 28psi in those tires, Firestone advised never to go below 32. At 28 psi the tire overheated under load and came apart. Ford was the bigger company, it wasn't going good to take the blame, Firestone did.1 point

Is it the press or is our military a bunch of crybabies? This has been going on for decades. We are spying on them and shadowing their subs, and we get indignant over getting buzzed? I found the pictures of the Boat and spoke with Son In law and he said he tested how long it would take for all the lights to drain the one 12 volt battery. He said he left them on for almost 7 days, day and night and on the 7th night they were still very bright but you could see a difference. Now that is also taking into effect the 12 volt battery was fully charged but is also taking into the fact the Battery is also 3 years old too. This seems to business as usual in the Internet age. I do a whole lot of banking, shopping, bill paying, ect. online, and I've received free one or two year credit monitoring from 3 or 4 companies that have had their systems compromised. I was pretty upset with the first two, but now I almost don't care. Hackers will always be one or ten steps ahead, and that's a fact I've come to accept.1 point

Making sure the flash hole is uniform and chamfering the flash hole resulted in the single biggest improvement in groups sizes. It also helped my SD numbers get into single digits. It was a culmination of a bunch of things but factory ammunition would hover around 3/4" and my worked over hand loads consistently shot .3's with enough .2's to know they were not a fluke either. But the biggest jump came from me working on the flash holes. And here is the thing about doing flash holes. Yes they add some time but you never have to do them again. Do it at the beginning and you never have to touch them again. If your flash hole has a burr and it forces the spark above the powder charge you will inconsistent ignition and velocity. When you chamfer them the spark will be the same every time you pull the trigger. Or if the flash holes are different sizes it can do the same thing. This results in random velocity changes as well as when the bullets exits the barrel during its whip. I would sort bullets first by weight then I would sort them by bearing surface length. Bearing surface length can have a significant impact on velocity. The longer the bearing surface the more pressure and the higher the velocity. The shorter bearing surface will have reduced velocity. That causes vertical stringing. I would buy bullets in 500 round lots and would end up with 4-5 different lots. I would shoot up one lot then rework the load data with a new lot until it shot well.1 point

Great catch for sure. I do know they are somewhat rare and not found in very many places. They are kin to the Red Ear Sunfish better known as Shell Crackers. The Bull males in the Shell Crackers also turn very black during the spawn and guarding the beds. I love to catch Shell Crackers during the spawn but I don't keep any females or any smaller males. I will keep one if it is close to 1.5 to 2 pounds and will filet easy. I think they taste better than Crappie..........jmho on the taste. If my Son in law gets day off soon we will go looking for a big Shell Cracker bed and get some good eating......... :up:1 point

Go by the VEHICLE not the tire. The vehicle is designed to run a certain pressure. They take into account the maximum payload the vehicle is designed to carry. Over inflation (as stated) causes the center of the tire wear more than the edges and if nothing else, it can and will make it ride like a hay wagon. The flex of a tire is part of the vehicles total suspension and has a LOT to do with ride quality. Been doing tires over a decade now and I can't tell you how many rough riding cars I have fixed simply by PROPER inflation.1 point

Well, this is just the idiotic direction in which some, other countries (one-Great Britain, for instance) seem to have gone and in which these 'murderers and rapists aren't bad people, they are just misunderstood' limp-wristed, bleeding heart idiots would like to take us. Screw the rights of the victim - we have to make sure that the rights of the victim's attacker are guaranteed at all cost, even if the victim has to die instead of defending himself or herself to do so. Honestly, it should be legal to kick this guy in the balls until he pukes. If he tries to defend himself then obviously he would be violating his attacker's right to express their opinion via a physical outlet.1 point

Have not a clue about TN, but some states have a salvage law on abandoned water craft, like Florida. If no one claims it after so long, it's abandoned, and you can legally salvage it. Wonder if it would apply to vehicles? I'd say that Ford is definitely abandoned!1 point

so i got a text message from his phone number today - said its his wife, and that brad is in the hospital, she said give her my last name and she would check if it was shipped or in pending work. i don't know if hes playing some kinda game, but i sent a certified letter demanding my property back with a box with prepaid postage, and i am calling around for an attorney around knoxville to handle a small claims case for me. I also went through my phone archive and retrieved the recording of the phone call - where he told me the what it would cost, i agreed, he told me where to send it, and gave me specific instructions. and i said okay great thanks, ill ship it out tomorrow. i am sure this recording will constitute proof of a contract. - along with a print out of my call history from at&t to legitimize it. i don't care what i have to spend a thousands, i'm gonna pin him down so he cant do this to someone else that doesn't have the resources to fight back.1 point

Of course, it's only the presumption, but that seems to go a long way in TN. As for how is a garage covered under castle doctrine... Lets take a look at the law: 39-11-611c is where our 'castle doctrine' comes from in TN. Now, lets assume for discussion that none of the exceptions in 39-11-611d apply, which would not in the described scenario. While residence and dwelling seem to be pretty limited in scope they're not, lets look at how they're defined for the purposes of the self defense law. First dwelling - 39-11-611a5 - Which would seem based on the plain reading to include all buildings on your property that have a roof over it and is capable of use by people. That includes a garage. Second lets look at residence - 39-11-611a7 - This would also seem to cover any building within the curtilage of the residence... lets take a look at that definition. Curtilage - 39-11-611a3 Clearly the legislative intent if to cover all buildings in and around your home, included unattached garages. As both the definition of dwelling and residence in that part of the law clearly define. If you hear a bump in the night and walk out into your hallway, see somebody you have reason to believe is there unlawfully (with few exceptions) has the same legal protections as if: You hear a bump in the night, go outside and find somebody in your garage who you believe is there unlawfully... In both cases under the law you're assumed to have a reasonable belief of imminent death or serious bodily injury. As I read the law, and as clear by most cases of self defense in and around the home are handled here in TN. You're right, that is just an assumption, but that assumption is a very high bar for any DA considering charging you... They have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you knew the person in question was not a threat to you, or that you had no reason to believe they were in your home/garage unlawfully. In the example being used here, where you catch somebody breaking into your car, who in all likelihood has a criminal record, it's going to be virtually impossible to prove to a jury you didn't have a reasonable belief that person was there unlawfully. And unless there are some strange circumstances surrounding the shooting itself - like shooting the guy on the ground execution style... it's going to be next to impossible to over come the assumption of reasonable fear. That's why most DA's won't touch these cases with a 10 foot pole... Now with that said, I personally wouldn't go looking for trouble, I wouldn't go outside in the middle of the night to knowingly confront a criminal breaking into my unattached garage or car... but if you think you hear a raccoon in your garage, and go to investigate and find a thief there instead, under TN law you have the same rights to self defense as if you came face to face with the thief standing in your kitchen.1 point
