  1. This review is over due. I recently asked Grand Torino to make me a knife and he graciously obliged. The knife he made exceeded my expectations, but we all have seen the quality of work that he can produce. I asked him to send the knife to East TN Patriot for a leather sheath. In my world 1911s, revolvers and knives need a leather sheath and this knife received one of the nicest sheaths I have ever seen. Both the knife and sheath are functional works of art. The best part about the sheath is the wearer can customize it to their needs. It is modular and can be taken apart and put back together in any configuration. When I am camping I plan to wear it horizontally across the back of my belt in this fashion. The following are other arrangements and closeup pics of the sheath. The other loop on the back is for a fire stick. We have many great craftsmen on TGO and I enjoy seeing all of the creative items they make. Thanks again to GT and East TN Partiot for a great knife sheath combo. Matt

  2. This one was made specifically to the customers specifications. It's basically in the shape of a bushcraft knife except it's 1/4" thick 1095 carbon steel. The blade is about 6" long with an OAL of about 11". It has African Mahogany scales, brass lanyard hole and mosaic pins. It's really a beefy knife but he should be able to use the hell out of it in the woods. The next was also made to customer specifications. It's 1/8" thick steel and has black micarta scales with SS pins.

  5. If I was the LEO that arrived on scene and he was passed out in a running car, when I realized who he was I'd have given him a ride home and helped him to his front door, thanked him for his service and left. Too many bad guys getting all the breaks now a days. Who ever didn't like it could go jump in a lake........or a cage about to be set on fire.

  14. I will be driving from Clarksville to Louisville on the 20th of May for the first day of the exhibits at the NRA annual meeting. I had three buddies lined up to travel with me, but two have backed out. I'm offering a ride up there early in the morning and back late that night to anyone* that wants to go with and is reasonably close to my route of travel. Veterans from the Fort Campbell area are preferred. *Disclaimer you must not be a hipster liberal waste of space time vampire full time all time welfare recipient to ride in my truck. There will be a red blooded American bacon eating test to weed out any radical extremist muslims and vegans.

  15. Oh boy, I bet I'll get them here too. First of all, when I first read it, the story was simply DUI. Since then it has morphed to the link above. Including a publicist statement and sleeping pills. My FB post was a link to the story and the fact that I felt he was reckless and irresponsible. I said this behavior is unacceptable of a "hero". Instantly people started commenting about the good he's done and it could be PTSD. Just stupid things. I had one person who lost 2 family members to a drunk driver tell me I was being judgemental and without knowing the full story I shouldn't have said anything. I have personal feelings about the guy which may have influenced my harshness. I think he's 1 man who served. In a team. The team he has served with has done incredible things and I am grateful for that. But I do not admire glory whores who step out and take the full spotlight. So I really appreciate that the news story points out that he claims he had the killshot. My thought is, even if it was sleeping pills, don't take them until you're ready and home and in bed. No matter how this turns out, he shouldn't have been behind the wheel if he was under the influence of ANYTHING.

  18.   Isn't it funny that in a manly community, talking about manly things and shooting manly guns... inevitably we're all worried about some stickers?   I'm in the same boat! I got a brand new ride and it's dying to have a CZ sticker amongst a few others.... but I don't want to advertise!   I JUST WANNA PUT ON STICKERS!!!

  19. For what it's worth, just about every other special ops vehicle down range has the punisher skull rattle canned onto it somewhere, and many of the operators have a patch or some swag on their kit with that symbol as well. Not sure when or why it because synonymous with CK here in the states. Good marketing I suppose.

  20. Well gents the problem is cured. Had a malfunction during an IDPA shoot with the Tennessee Action Pistol guys. They nailed the trigger screw as the problem right away. Fixed it at the shoot and perma fixed later with Loctite blue. Just another reason that rookie shooters should get involved with their local shooting clubs. I think you would be hard pressed to find more helpful people. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.

  21. I traded for it form another fellow TGOer. He is more than welcome to chime in on the gun, pictures do not do it justice. It is a 45lc Ruger Blackhawk that has been customized. The grips were made by CLC custom grips and and believe that he also recontoured the grip frame. The grips area near more beautiful in person. CLC customs is currently not making grips due to health reasons. You can click on the link and see the quality of his work. http://www.clccustomgrips.com The sights, lanyard ring, over sized pin and guid rod are from Bowen Classic Arms. The installation of these parts was completed by Tom Marker at Lock Stock & Barrel. He also did a trigger job, recrowned the barrel and removed the markings Ruger puts on their guns. Tom does excellent work and has worked on a shotgun for me. I believe the inspiration for the gun came from the work of Bowen Classic Arms, most of the parts came from him. The sights he makes are excellent. If you don't want to spend countless hours staring and some of the most beautiful firearms you have seen, don't click the link I provided below. http://www.bowenclassicarms.com My favorite of the bunch is the 45lc/45acp Redhawk pictured with it.

  25.   Unless I actually pulled him over because he was DUI, I would do the same. I'd assume that, since it's still cold in MT, he was just trying to stay warm and would have helped him out. It never would have gotten to the point of listening to stories about sleeping pills and stuff and none of you would have heard about this story.   Nonetheless, I get why someone would feel otherwise. I'd make DUI penalties way worse if it were up to me, but only MOVING VIOLATIONS.

  30. I have no stickers on my cars. Personally I can't stand them.   I also assume when I see a Punisher sticker that someone is a fan of the comic book character, or the idea of the comic book character's vigilantism.    I love when someone/group/etc "borrow" an already pop culture icon, then somehow get offended when someone mistakes it to mean what it originally meant.   That is like wearing a Star Trek shirt because you are a fan of JJ Abrams, but get offended when someone tries to ask you what your favorite Shatner line is.   /rant.

  34. Depends what the laws are in that state. I assume since he was arrested that state has the same laws as many; that if you are in physical control, you can be charged. The test is usually if you can start the vehicle and drive off without exiting the vehicle; you are in physical control. He shouldn’t get any special treatment because of who he is; but he will probably have no shortage of good attorneys that will want his case. Prescription drug excuse won’t fly.

I'd say I was gonna ride my bike this weekend, someone would take that to mean motorcycle and get all disappointed when I said I trail ride.

  37. Usually before I commit to reading a book, I check the Amazon reviews. I read some of the 5 star reviews and some of the 1 star reviews. When the 1 star reviews resonate with something that's important to me, I tend to avoid the book.  In the case of Cyberstorm, it was one of those ads that appear on the Kindle. You just click on it and poof!, the book is there ready to read so didn't read the reviews first.   Had I read the 1 star reviews, I would have seen that it missed on a lot of the things that were important to me.  The author obviously knew very little about the topic he was writing about and the main characters were unlikable. The progression of the plot didn't reflect reality. The power goes out in NYC and looting doesn't start until 6 days later.

  38. Yeah at my age I don't have any decals or stickers on my truck either. I enjoy not attracting any unwanted attention.    If I wanted a little attention, I'd do the Wally World walk without my concealment shirt / jacket on. Leaving Wally World I'd crank up the ole 500 watter all the way home so everyone within 500 yards could feel my vibes too  :biglol:

  39. Just thought i'd bump this again and add some info to it. I have the same barrel mentioned here and was told by Radical that they port it to .106. I also asked if the barrel was concentric and they confirmed it was but told me to still have it checked.    I am going to see how it does with subsonic ammo while I wait on the suppressor. Id prefer to not have to add an adjustable block but may do it anyways just so it runs smoother and cleaner.   As far as the concentric threads go I think I may just eyeball test that one when I get the suppressor.

  42. Thanks for the head's up jgrady.   I agree with you hipower...it can really be a challenge finding truly decent works in this genre of books. Generally Amazon reviews are relatively reliable, but individual tastes vary widely... That's the main reason I check here frequently for recommendations...we all generally seem to be on the same "page" (pardon the pun) in regards to books.

  46. The derp is strong in this thread.   If a Muslim can't be a good American, someone really should let the ones who have volunteered for military service know, plus the firefighters, EMS, police etc. Imagine being quiet and content with serving your country or community only to realize you're inadequate due to religious beliefs. Boy will there be egg on their faces    As an aside, I doubt highly that ISIS will have to continue recruiting any moderates in the next few years, with the mentality some of you have, you'll do a perfectly good job turning a moderate into a radical all on your own. I wonder if ISIS is banking on that with their message of fear and terror..... Nah, stupid idiots.

  48. I wore long hair nearly all my life. Mullets in the '80s and an under cut ponytail in the '90s to full on hair through the `00s. In the `90s I was working my way through conservative southern sewing factories. With bright green hair several inches past my shoulders. As it was undercut, I could pull it up, wrap it up and hide it under a hat. I have never been without a job since I was old enough to get paid to work.   I was working for one factory in Madisonville, I had been there almost a year and we were spreading some nice bright green material. You remember those days when neon camouflage was all the rage? Well it just happened that my hair was the same color as the material we were cutting. So my boss and I were talking and I told him that I really needed to get a pair of the pants after they were done. He asked me why. So I pulled my beat up blue ADIDAS hat off my head (that I still have and wear often, twenty years later,) and let all that glowing green hair fall out from underneath. "Because it matches my hair," was my response.   Sam looks me dead in the eyes and says "I never would have hired you had I seen your hair."   "Of course not, why do you think I kept it tucked up under there for so long?" I responded.   From that day on whenever Sam came close enough to me he would start singing "Sign says green haired freaky people, need not apply..."

  49. The only relevant fact about a shooting is if the shooting was justified or not, lawyers are BS artists and juries are gullible. It shouldn't matter what is written on the gun, what ammo was used or what modifications were made to the gun. What really matters is if the shooter felt his life was in danger and reasonable cause to believe his life was in danger. I have "heard" that the shooting wasn't justified but again I haven't read any story to make a qualified opinion, i'm not sitting on the jury hearing the case. If I was on the jury and the DA was obsessing about what was written on the gun I believe I would have to give him/her a hint like a big woopdeedo yawn, don't care, just give me the facts about the shooting.
