  1. As much as I would LOVE to carry a rifle with me I am willing to forgo that so the open carry idiots don't ruin everything else. I can see them running around trying to grief people and in turn all the gains we have been making lately would be for naught. I have yet to see a open carry video where they are not acting antagonistic towards others, especially others who are asking questions. Wouldn't be so bad if they would answer "To protect you and me" when they are asked why they are open carrying but instead they are often cantankerous to those who question. I have been asked why I carry and I try explain to them why without being an ass. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

  3. When Morgan was carrying on about how if he hadn't let the Wolf live then the Wolf wouldn't have been there to save Denise and Denise wouldn't have been there to save Carl my thought was, "If you had killed the Wolf he wouldn't have taken Denise hostage. In fact, she only left the infirmary to go to the jail because you (Morgan) asked her to because the Wolf was injured. So. Morgan, if you had killed that Wolf then Denise wouldn't have been in that position to need saving in the first place, dumbass."

  7.   Agreed The current state of our college's frankly scares me. Going back to the ancient greek and roman theologans, rigorous debate was the purpose of having the discussion, and it was the sharing of thoughts and idea's that produced new-found knowledge! The fact that one can no longer express a divergent opinion, much less debate one, makes 'higher education' the ultimate oxymoron.   - K

  8. So a club friend knew I was looking to replace my 95 Vulcan with something more comfortable and suitable for two up riding. So we made arrangements and I sold my Vulcan 1500 to a guy from North Carolina Friday night. Saturday morning I picked this up and put 500 miles on it that day. It's a 2001 Honda Valkyrie. Flat 6 cylinder motor, 110 horsepower or so, quiet pipes, aftermarket saddle bags and windshield, Ultimate touring seat for driver and passenger with backrest. Highway pegs, etc. It rides like a Cadillac and has no problem running 85 up the interstate for hours in complete comfort. My only complaint is gas mileage. It hovers in the upper 20's, lower 30's. Probably not bad for a 6 cylinder in a heavy bike running kinda hard, but I'll probably add a belly tank at some point for extended range. Anyways, I was excited to share. 10. While searching for a 3" model 60 in pawn shops, I was given an opportunity to buy a beautiful 3" k frame from a manager at a pawn shop that I have known a few years. It was not what I was looking for but I knew I would never find another as beautiful as this 1989 model 65. I had a rough old police trade in model 65 last year that I had actually experienced regrets on selling. When I bought this a few months ago it made me feel better.

  16. This reminds me of back when I was just a kid growing up about 35 miles due west of Chicago in a small town called Lemont. My mother was raised in the south and my father grew up in Hickory Corners Michigan and was a truck driver and my mother was a waitress in a truck stop in Tennessee and that is how they met. They married and settled in Lemont which was about in the middle between hometowns. After the four sons were born, me being the youngest we began coming south every year on vacation because my father enjoyed the south a lot more than Michigan Plus most of his family was scattered to the 4 winds across the country. My father had put up a flag pole in our from yard and flew and American flag for years. When I was about 6 years old we came south and while here he purchased  Confederate Flag. When we got back home he put the flag on the pole just below the American flag. Those flags flew on that pole for the next 11 years till my father decided he had had enough of living up north. He and my mother decided it was time to move and south was the direction. At the ripe age of 17 I was ripped up and transplanted in Cheatham County Tennessee on  huge ranch/farm. had to get out of bed before sunup and work stock, hogs chickens, cows and ducks before school. The adjustment was over whelming at first but as I adjusted I found it much more educational then the life up north.    That flag did draw a lot of looks as folks would be out of Chicago on a Sunday afternoon drive and they would stop and ask about it trying to guess what state flag it was. Just to keep it simple my father would just say Tennessee. Some folks would just make a face and move on and others would smile as if to say where is Tennessee? After living down here about 6 months you couldn't drag me back to Illinois. I would go back once a year to celebrate opening day of Squirrel and Dove Season with my life long hunting buddy and then come back home to Tennessee.     My father put up a new flag pole when we moved south and it to flew both flags until the day he passed away. I just wanted to post this because my father was a man raised in the north but his heart was in the south and he wanted folks to know it and that was the reason for flying it. I saw him look up at that flag on the pole in Illinois and smile and get in his car and drive to work. The smile was knowing soon he would be were his heart was. Thanks for the post FITTY..........loved the video too!!!

  17. Fitty... This ain't aimed at you or is it intended to be a criticism of what i would term "instructional educational endeavors (...which i think your video is...)... Its an old geezer's rant about what I have observed in the current atmosphere in the discussion of issues on which there is a sharp disagreement or a revisionist position on ... The specific subject is the Civil War, it's rightness (..or wrongness...), the attendant symbols, the honor of the participants... on and on... ya get the idea.... That bein said, here goes...   Divergent or sharply debated views and articulations of those views are a hallmark of the American experiment... This country is one of the few truly free nations on the face of the earth where you are able to discuss all views, good, bad, or indifferent; heinous or holy, profane or good, and do it without fear of ostracism, or interference from governments and special interest jhadists...    The leftist education intelligentsia, the "public discourse" intelligentsia, and the news media has so firmly planted the idea that somehow anything they (...not you...) deem to be "improper, racist, or whatever "thing dujour" they deem to be "bad"" must be prefixed with the phrase "...I'm not racist (...or whatever... fill in the blank...) but"....     This idea was conjured up by these sons and daughters of satan to put anyone who disagrees with them or does not follow their "dogma" on the defensive and to set him back on his (...or her...) heels before the discussion begins... It's "defacto" giving over your right to sensible, reasoned discussion, and sometimes your First Amendment rights to "robust discussion of issues in the public forum" to your adversaries... It's an attempt at self censorship; pure and simple...   The lamentable lack of knowledge of the principles on which this country was founded and the re-writing of history to suit the disgusting views of jhadists of all stripes; be they the black grievance cottage industry, the anti-american hippies, the socialist demagogues, or whatever other bunch of clowns or would be tyrants hoisting their views on whatever subject has brought us to this sad point...   I say, don't be intimidated into being put on the defensive to explain any view you may have... You are not obliged to do those things... If you are in the debate or discussion business, that's what it means... Reasoned discussion... The hearers are obligated to listen and consider your argument; then agree or disagree with it... It's called "robust debate"... It's a hallmark of a free society...   There are folks out there that want you to be a slave and bow down... They want to muzzle you an intimidate you into silence and/or inaction... The demagogues, would be tyrants, and speech and history revision jhadists among us are tryin, and in some cases, succeeding in making people voluntarily give up their right to voice their opinions in the Public Square... I think that's a disgrace, and i'll not let people do that to me.... Neither should you... All of us here are Americans... We should not be afraid of folks callin us names... What if you are a bigot...?  What are they gonna do about it...?  Not a dammed thing...    Remember the wise words of the great French thinker Voltaire..."... To find out who rules over you, simply see whom you are not allowed to criticize..."...There is no discussion off limits, and there is dammed sure no subject that needs a "preemptive apology" before the discussion begins... .. Your mileage may vary...   non apologizin leroy, the free speech geezer...

  19. So I have just completed my new EDC. It is a Glock 19 MOS that replaced my G19 G4. I added the Trijicon RM07 6.5 MOA RMR along with the recommended kit, AC32064 RMR Mounting Kit, a SureFire XC1, and a set of Dawson Precision iron sights for backup. I went with the Trijicon over the Burris that I have on my 41 because the Trijicon can be left on at medium brightness for up to 4 years and it was much easier to find sights to work with the Trijicon than the Burris which sets a little taller. I am amazed at how much better I am able to shoot with a red dot on a pistol. As I get older it is harder to focus on the front and rear sites and the target. The only thing I couldn't find was a holster and most companies are not making one at this time that will accommodate the SureFire XC1. I ordered one from Dara Holsters but they are 8 weeks out. This next paragraph may sound like an advertisement but it isn't and I get nothing but the satisfaction of recommending quality work out of the deal. I needed some kind of holster now, while waiting on the Dara to come in, so I did a lot of searching and found out about Bruce here in Middle Tennessee. Bruce is a Firearms Instructor, Gunsmith, and has been making quality kydex holsters for the last 4 years. The holster you see in the images below was made by Bruce for my gun. I am not sure what his normal turn around time is but he had mine made in about a day and the quality and fit are fantastic. I am in no way affliated with Bruce but you can reach him at roninsar@gmail.com if you are interested in a custom holster from a local source. Be sure to put kydex holster in the subject line. Pictures below.

Well known in badass circles, Lieutenant-Colonel John Malcolm Thorpe Fleming "Jack" Churchill, DSO & Bar, MC & Bar was a British Army officer who fought throughout the Second World War armed with a longbow, bagpipes, and a basket-hilted Scottish broadsword. This one speaks for itself. Stage Coach Mary. Rest assured, if she was still alive she could beat the crap out of you.

  26. Thanks for that. All the sheaths I've made so far were made from the saddle leather I got at Pecham's, and it was already dyed. At that time I didn't know they could cut the leather down for you, so I worked with that thickness. Somehow made 'em look decent, but it was a bear to work with, and there AIN'T no wet-molding.

  28. I know how you feel TDR.  I have a son who just turned 21.  Trying to teach him life lessons is about as useful as banging your head against a wall.  Don't worry though.  Pretty soon she will have a moment when it all just clicks for her and she will have a lot off personal growth in a short amount of time.  For my son that sis not happen until shortly before he turned 21.  Once it clicked for him, I started seeing the changes of him thinking more like an adult instead of a kid.  What you have been telling her is getting through and you will see it when she hits that point where everything clicks for her.

Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters, because the waitresses were young, good looking, had big breasts and wore short-shorts. >>>>> Ten years later, at age 50, the golfing buddies once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. 36. Unless the Vendor is irrefutably guilty of unethical or illegal business practices and that information has been shared with the TGO Staff first and we believe that there is legitimate cause for concern to protect the members at large, I honestly don't want to hear a bunch of complaints about the Vendor no matter who they are.   If you're in business, you are going to piss off someone or hurt someone's feelings sooner or later.  You might not get to a customer in your store fast enough to suit them.  You might not provide the sort of discount or price that suits them.  You might not provide the sort of "customer service experience" that suits them.  They might just not like the way you look, smell, talk, or dress.  Someone, somewhere, is going to get a stick up their butt about you and then use the Internet to malign you because they think that they have a right to do it.   If a consumer has an individual beef with a Vendor, they should take it up with that Vendor in person.  If they don't have to guts to do that, then I don't want them using TGO as their emotional dumping ground.   Just my thoughts on that matter.

  39. Mokeybat, I respect what you are saying. And at my age physical altercations take on a whole new cautionary aspect.   Within the context of certain situations, we may not be in a position to initially access our weapons, and staying conscious and on your feet during the initial assault is paramount. There are principles and techniques that are actually pretty easily learned and practiced to help us achieve this. The ones I've been exposed to by several individuals I trust and respect stem initially from WW2 Combatives blended with FMA and refined and even more simplified.   Yeah, Todd would definitely kick my butt. LOL. But I hope to give it my best nonetheless.   You would be amazed at the ideas/techniques you can be exposed to, and hopefully assimilate into your training package, in just a few training classes with the right instructors. I'm shamelessly plugging Randy here. He knows his stuff. And can teach it.       I definitely hope to not be working the next time Spots has a training event and invites TGO members. I hate to have missed that day.   :2cents:

  41. I think that Rick's group is going to start taking casualties.  I think they have greatly underestimate the Saviors' numbers.  So far since being in Alexandria, they have had contact with one guy from Hilltop out roaming around, but have encountered three groups of Negan's people, which suggests that maybe Alexandria has been lucky up to this point.  On the whole, the post-apocalyptic world appears to be sparsely populated, so their encounters with a rival group suggests that they may be facing much greater numbers.  I'm imagining a scene reminiscent of the walkers surrounding Alexandria, but instead it is humans who are mad about their buddies.
