  8. Actually I think it is awesome.  No, I am not joking.  I'd own one (not sure I'd pay $200 for it, though.)  I'd never carry it nor put it in my HD plan, etc. (I'd have no problem with a well tested, standard finished Hi Point as a 'stash' gun somewhere in the house - they shoot better than some might think) but as a fun gun I think it would be great.  Of course, I like sarcastic and ironic humor and there is definitely something ironically and sarcastically funny about a $100 bill finish pattern on a Hi-Point - and that is why I like it.  Imagine being at the range, pulling that out and saying to the stranger next to you (who would definitely be eyeballing it), "This here's my baby.  Total safe queen but I have to get her out and give her some lovin' every once in a while," and doing it with a totally straight face (before cracking up and letting them in on the joke.)

  9. My first police academy range instruction was in 1979, taught by an old guy who had to be in his 70's then. We worked only on J-frame S&W's. Range safety was not only paramount, if you f***ed up, you were out. Period. No second chances. You tended to pay attention.   The ONLY way a weapon would EVER be transferred to another person was --- cylinder emptied;2nd & 3rd finger through the cylinder opening; grip first toward the recipient. Even today, by force of habit, I point it downwards, pop the magazine, empty the chamber, turn it around, and hand it grip-first with the slide locked open. Younger guys sort of look at me with a question in their eyes. Older guys just look, and sort of get this look on their face like, "man, you WERE taught right, weren't you ?????".   God bless you, Okie Miles (RIP).

  11. WWF fired its leaders after somebody dropped a dime on their spending habits. Apparently they were spending 40% of income on overhead. It will be good if that money can go where it was intended, rather than being used for expensive "conferences" at resorts.

  14.   If he really was that dumb and lazy he couldn't hold a job anywhere. Of course there's been a lot of celebrities or athletes who get some fame, make some money then think they can do anything they want. I doubt if any of them are at that store except when they film the staged reality show. I don't know why they still call them reality shows, I guess about 10% is reality, the other is WWE wrestling.

  18. I was just thinking about how big of a step you'd have on the next guy if you had to draw this as a weapon. Think about how long a persons mind would take to register... "what in the F did he just pull out?" By the time they realized(if ever) what it was, it'd be over!

  26. The problem with Macs is that they are stupid expensive. I just looked at Best Buy. The cheapest Mac laptop was $899 with many going into the $2,000-$3,000 range. The one I would probably want is about $1,300. Are you kidding me? I can buy a Dell, ASUS, or HP for $350 or less... maybe up to a $100 at the annual sales or on Dell's outlet website. Then, I can download all the free software I need: LibreOffice. Every two years, I can toss my laptop and upgrade to a newer version. My 17.1 inch HP that I'm typing this on was $250. My wife's new Dell was $250. My 13.1 inch Chromebook I use when flying was $165. That's $665, plus another $550 for my Sig Sauer anti-theft device comes to only $1,215.   Granted, my laptops are a little heavier than a MacBook Air, but I've been working out... :biglol:

  27. Glock 20 Gen 4. 10mm will destroy villages, pillage and ravage harlots, kill anything from a Yeti to a M1 Abrams and has longer ranges than most handgun cartridges. Also itll make you grow a beard, jump 100 feet, immune to elemental damage, speak Latin and Ancient Mayan, automatically SMUD RSP Mk84s and increase your reflexes. Also itll automatically disable any felcher with a .40SW as your sheer indomitable will and omnipotence will render them into cuckold girlymen (they already are) and cause them to give you their goods and daugthers (or sons, if youre into that like HiPower is). Then you can become Imperator of Post Apocalyptia and transform into an Eagle that craps 105mm ICMs on the Nemesis Forces like liberals, the French, cav scouts, PETA, .40 owners and LGBT activists. Jesus carried a 10mm, just saying. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  28. As promised, I made it out to the range this weekend and froze my ass off and got some trigger time for the first time in 2 months. Didn't do too bad at all, and my reloads didn't go boom on me (powder check die FTW!).   If you didn't catch my Steal of the Century - I was able to get a CZ97B and 3 mags for the equivalent of $275 - and contrary to popular belief it wasn't booby trapped, or defective.   Ergonomics - Frame:   - I have decently small hands for a dude, I struggle to have a good grip on my Glock 21 Gen 4 with no back straps, even though it is a double stack, the CZ-97B with wood grips is pretty slim (1.253" vs 1.412" on the Glock 21 Gen 4). - The grip angle is between a Glock and a Sig - it just points very well and feels great in the hand, along with a very aggressive high beavertail to get up on the bore axis and not worry about slide/hammer bite. - The trigger guard has a very sleek undercut as to not break your knuckles and the trigger guard itself is spacious to shoot with gloves (I had to, it was 10 degrees with wind chill). - The weight of the frame is very balanced, for an all-metal gun it does not feel like you are hefting a warhammer. - The safety and slide lock/release are very big and well pronounced - but not to give your support hand any issues. The safety is easily manipulated with the thumb - but the slide release is a bit to far to reach with your firing hand comfortably, the tip of my thumb can hit it but I can't produced the force to quickly release it; bigger handed shooters will not have this problem. - The magazine release, I felt it is a bit on the small side, again I have small hands, but it does not protrude far enough to manipulate easily, especially with gloves. - The slide has standard serrations on the rear, a lot more plentiful and aggressive than a Glock and Sig - so it should not give anyone an issue.   Ergonomics - Trigger:   I am a striker-fired/SAO hammer fired (1911s) guy until I traded for 2 Sigs - and those DA pulls are VERY good. However - the CZ's is better on DA. It is not stagy at all, even given the fact that the hammer can be half-cocked. It has a very beefy (but not nasty looking) smooth faced stainless trigger - and whether you pull with the tip of your finger, or the first knuckle - it fits well and does not slip. I prefer to shoot Single Action, and that break is as crisp as can be. I cannot discern a difference between the SA on a Sig, or CZ - but the CZ has a much more tactile and audible reset than my P220 or P238 do.   Shooting - Feel and Accuracy:   Needless to say, being an all-metal handgun, it absorbs the recoil (what recoil there is) of the .45ACP - it makes follow up shots SO much nicer than say on my Glock 21. Partnered with the high 3-dot night sights my CZ97 has, target acquistion was very easy. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and it (looks) like the front sight is adjustable for drift/windage. I was shooting 230gr FMJ Blazer, Fiocchi and Winchester White Box and grouping about 2" at 7 yds. Then with my 200gr plated hand loads (Win LPs, 5.7gr Bullseye) I was grouping 1" at 7 yds. I am not the best shot, but the CZ97 makes me seem better than what I am.   Other Features:   There is a small stainless pin that pops up on top of the frame to serve as a loaded chamber indicator, which is very subtle. The grips can be interchanged, and have some sort of springs on the inside to keep the magazine from wobbling around. The feedramp is very polished and steep to assist with chambering. The hammer is skeletonized and serrated - and can be carried in a half-cock position to take a little uptake out of the DA.   I am not the best at reviewing guns - if anyone has any questions or would like to shoot it, just let me know. I will try to get some pictures up when I am able.

  30. I have a Windows 10 based desktop with a core i7. It's tricked out with a few extras. My core i5 MacBook Pro runs all cross platform software much faster. I've been replacing my PCs with Macs as they die. After two years on a Mac I can honestly say it's worth the money and it's far superior in almost every way to a Windows PC. It's still just a smoking fast today as it was two years ago. Macs last whereas most computers are disposable junk. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.

  33. With their fixed barrel they are well regarded in terms of accuracy. Every one I ever encountered ran like a sewing machine as opposed to the Walther PPK. Their magazine release at the heel of the grip reflects their European heritage. There are certainly more appealing "carry packages" nowadays in terms of weight, size and caliber. But, the all stainless steel Sig P230 and P232 with the addition of a nice walnut grip are absolutely beautiful in my book.

  41. I love my Glock, but it doesn't come out of the holster unless I'm about to fire it or clean it. If I have to leave her behind it's holster and all... nice little OWB kydex paddle holster makes this easy. The holster is your primary safety for a Glock. You wouldn't leave your 1911 locked and cocked with the safety off... leaving a loaded Glock unholstered is pretty much the same thing to my mind.

  42. Every time I think about getting a new gun with a better trigger, I hear a story like this. Then, I don't feel so bad carrying an LC9 with a "legendary" trigger and manual safety stuck in in my pants. I figure if people with more experience than me can shoot themselves in the leg or butt, maybe I'll just continue to train with what I have.
