  1. I've got to be honest... as a father of three, one of whom is half the victim's age, I am having a really hard time with this.  I am having a terribly difficult time rectifying the base instinct I have to just say "Kill every damn last one of them" against the thin vapor of supposed moral superiority that Western culture tries so hard to smother us in that says "They aren't all murderers".   Right now, the basal instincts are winning, hard core.  I want to keep my kids home, behind locked doors, where I can protect them.  All the time.  I want to destroy the group of people that spawned this unholy monster.  I want it to be impossible for any of them to ever rise up again against us.  But none of this would bring back the child whose life was lost.  None of that would ease the pain those parents are feeling.   Sooner or later this is showing up in our streets, in our towns, in our cities.  They know the thing that we value most as a society is our children, and that's where they will hit us.  But we continue to usher them in because we feel safe in our moral superiority.   God help us.

  2. Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt pocket/purse-sized Taser. The effects of the Taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...?? WAY TOO COOL!!!       Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home...I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what the burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right?    There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat.     But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.  Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Taser in another. The directions said that:  A one second burst would shock and disorient your assailant.    A two second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and  A three second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.      Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries) pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, "no possible way"!!      What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, "Don't do it stupid", reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad...I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it.  I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and ..... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE ....!!!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again.     I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note- If you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a Taser one note of caution:      There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by violent thrashing about on the floor!! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point),        I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace.*The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. *My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. *My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. *I had no control over the drooling. *Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone.    *I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

  4. I have a two rules when it comes to Harbor Freight.   One,  if I'm going to use it more than once, I won't buy it at Harbor Freight.   I've got a friend who is always buying impact sockets there - and then wondering why they're always exploding when he uses them.  I'm pretty sure they're just cheap sockets painted black.  He could have bought a nice set a couple of times over on all of them he's bought over the years.   Which brings me to my second rule - always wear eye protection when using that junk.

  8. Dolomite spoke a great truth here... These are ancient monsters... The way to deal with ancient monsters is to decimate them... That's how the Romans did it... Sometimes terrible brutality is the answer... I think this is one of those times... US General William T Sherman said:   "...War is cruelty...There is no use trying to reform it... The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over..."...   leroy

For sure send LOTS of ammo for the testing. It should not take more than a few 1000 rounds and a few months, You pay shipping both ways, my time will be free. :dirty:                 That is a great looking rifle, hope it stays with you a good long time.

  11. I rightly could care less where any gun part is forged, cast or finished as long as it is well made.  I love my Belgium Browning HP, my Russian 7.62, and (insert country here) XDs; US made ARs, as well as all my other guns.  Its fine to want US made, but there are plenty of guns and other equipment that is made elsewhere that is very good quality, or good enough for the price.  As far as I know, guns have been made elsewhere for some time now, some going back to the civil war and probably further back if you care to look.

  13. I've said this about other apocalyptic discussions and it's valid here too. If the Muslims think they can be savage and brutal....they can't come close to a good father or mother that loves their children. The difference being what it takes to get good people to that point. If it becomes a common place thing here in the states for instances such as the OP posted, you will see. Many of you guys are truly good men and won't admit or maybe refuse to let your mind 'go there' but I say woe to those who would move against your children and there will be no mercy for those who actually do. You take a man that lives for nothing but his family and he comes home from a hard days work to find his wife raped and dead and his children decapitated.....he has nothing to lose and a simple bullet to the head will not satiate him. For reference material, watch Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen. I wouldn't implicate myself by aiding someone in such an endeavor.....but know I wouldn't stand in their way.

  14. I'm a patched member. Does that make me a criminal? All kinds of clubs, independents and motorcycle ministries were present at that COC. Try read or watching something other than the MSM narrative some time. Several of those hurt or killed were veterans. Many of the 176 arrested had done absolutely nothing wrong except show up to a meeting. And I could care less if some bully wearing a badge gets his brains blown out violating people's rights. One more dead thug from Americas largest criminal gang. See how that works? We all have different definetions of thugs, so you can kiss my ass. http://insanethrottle.com/2016/02/12/waco-pd-caused-deadly-fight-in-hopes-of-rico-charges/ Sent from behind the anvil

  15. I fully agree. I am not a father, but there is nothing in this world more heinous than someone who would harm a child. I would happily give or risk life or limb to save a child I don't even know or to bring either hell on earth or eternal hell to anyone who would harm a child. I also fear for the day this exact type of behavior shows up on our soil. I have heard it said that ISIS plans to attack our schools. I can only pray that God intervenes somehow. I am not a soldier or member of law enforcement either. Doesn't matter. Someone once said( can't remember who, but it is quoted often) "All that is necessary for evil to succeed, is for good men to do nothing" As good men, when evil comes our way we must take a stand. I know many of this forum will do just that. We must remain vigilant. I fear the time is coming very soon.

  16. It's not a religion it's a cult. No religion on earth would claim a pathway to God and eternal peace and paradise, and promote this behavior. AND this broad is one of many an this poor childs name would be lost on a list too long to read. Only good muzzie is a dead one. I don't care who likes that comment and who don't. They should get what they give. They give nothing to society and have nothing to offer mankind but death turmoil. Give it back to them tenfold. ....but they're not all like this....pffffttt. They prove time and time again they are.

  20. I just put together a last ditch emergency 'better than having nothing' pocket kit based around an Altoids Arctic tin. These tins are smaller than a regular Altoids tin and open at the (flip top) endcap rather than across the body of the tin. Compared to a regular Altoids tin: This is in no way an 'extensive' kit but it is pretty compact and fits easily in the pocket of the Dockers I wear to work. The original intent was just to use the tin as a small, pocket fire kit for EDC but once I got started it grew a bit beyond that. By filling the tin and then adding a few things to the outside of it I was actually able to fit a decent amount of supplies. Altoids 'Arctic' mints tin with match striker glued inside lid x 1 Contents: Small piece of fatwood x 1 Waterproof matches x 5 Orange bank line, ~5ft. on metal bobbin Acetaminophen 500mg each (extra strength) x 4 Caffeine tablets 200mg each x 4 Diphenhydramine HCI (generic Benadryl) 25mg each x 3 Promethazine (generic for Phenergan) 25mg each x 4 Band-aid plus antibiotic 1 inch x 3 inch x 1 Band-aid plus antibiotic 3/4 inch x 3 inch x 1 Small fishing float x 1 Fishing line, 10lb. monofilament, ~24 ft. on metal bobbin Fish hooks, baitholder size 6 x 3 Fish hooks, baitholder size 4 x 3 Round split shot sinkers size 3/0 x 6 'Bream Getter' artificial lure x 1 Small 'zipper' closed plastic bags x 2 (one containing medications and one containing fishing gear.) Attached to tin exterior: Piece of adhesive backed 180 grit ceramic blend sanding disk stuck to side of tin for possible field maintenance of knife edge (hopefully I'd at least have my EDC Spyderco Resilience with me.) Black bank line x 10ft Bright green, narrow Duck brand tape - basically narrow duct tape - x 3ft (thin plastic film from sanding disk placed over sandpaper to protect surface from tape adhesive) 3 inch curved upholstery needle x 1 Jute twine x 3ft Mini Bic disposable lighter x 1 I made a conscious decision not to include a blade in the kit. I did, however, modify one side at the bottom of the tin so that it is sharp enough to easily abrade through the fishing line and can, with a few passes across, abrade through the bank line. I did this by crushing the rolled edge flat using pliers on a multitool and then sharpening it a little with sandpaper, a diamond stone and a leather belt. It isn't really 'knife blade' sharp, more like the level of sharpness left on a can lid by a standard, electric can opener. One of the bicycle inner tubes I bought for making ranger bands is a little wider than standard. I cut two, wide pieces from it and with some effort and a bit of foul language was able to stretch them - one horizontally and one vertically - around the whole setup. This should make the package fairly water resistant if not outright waterproof: Side view Front view The final package is pretty small. In fact, I don't think it is as wide as a pack of cigarettes and is probably about as 'thick' as a cigarette hard pack with a Bic lighter in front of it. My hands aren't small but they are also a long way from 'Shaquille O'Neal' hands and it easily fits in my palm: I may eventually make a paracord pouch to carry it in, possibly with enough room to include a micro multi-tool or something similar in the pouch alongside the kit. I am under no illusions that this is a fully outfitted survival kit. I carry a lot more things in a SOG slingpack that I EDC to work and most, other places. As I mentioned, above, this is simply a 'better than having nothing' setup I can have in my pocket in case I don't have access to anything else. I wanted to post this up because I think the various commercial and DIY kits are interesting and I hadn't seen many pocket kits based around this type of Altoids tin or done exactly this way.

  21. Last week, I had the chance to meet Mr. Potterfield. Had the chance to spend a little time talking to him, and we got to talking about the Type 14 Nambu, among other topics. Really nice guy, and an extremely sharp businessman. I realized that they were once Ely Arms, and I recalled ordering some 8mm Nambu brass from them some 30 years ago from an ad in Shotgun News. Back then they were very small, and he and his brother Jerry ran their business out of a small metal building. He thought it was kind of interesting that I had bought from them way back then. He asked for my business card before he headed out to the airport. Naturally, I didn't expect anything to come of that. However, today I got to my office, and there was a package for me from him - an autographed copy of a book of hunting trips, short stories, and general gun-related stuff that he wrote. What a thoughtful gesture! I have to say I was more than a little impressed.

  22. I recently acquired this beautiful browning 92 in .44 mag. Does anyone else on here own one of these? I understand these were also made in 357. I'm just trying to get as much info as possible, and would like to know what loads others have shot through it with success. I've done a little Internet research but haven't yielded much info, plus it seems they made a few different models of these in the 70s and 80s. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  32. I don't own one but did a bit of research on them awhile back. From what I found out, they were 1892 clone but with a higher quality fit and finish than a Winchester. And for at least part of the time they were made, Winchester wasn't making a 1892, so they were what you got if you wanted a new 1892. I think for a few years they made a .45Colt version as well as the .44 and .357 models.

  33. Most Americans cannot see much beyond the tips of the noses. As long as the government is telling them what they want to hear they continue to be oblivious to what IS going to happen. And when our children are killed our government's response will be to make excuses for why the killers did it and how it is our fault. What is truly sad is the government will use it to take away the best means to prevent it which is EXACTLY what our enemies want. And make no mistake we have more enemies in this world than allies and they would jump at the chance to knock us down a notch or two. For us to survive, and it is a matter of survival, we must be willing to set aside our conscience and do exactly what they are doing. When they threaten to kill our kids we should listen to them, rather than dismiss those threats, and beat them to the punch. Threaten to kill one of our kids and we should kill 1,000 of theirs. Eventually they will get tired of burying their kids.

  39. Because it was the Reagan administration where Wall Street took off as a % of GDP higher than in normally stable years, and now we're living in the world where the investment banks are driving the economy, and have to post higher and higher profits just to survive since steady isn't sexy anymore. That was the real effect of "we're going to turn the bull loose." I get why he did it, US manufacturing wasn't keeping the dollar strong (just like it isn't today), and every President after him has been beholden to it, with the free trade agenda making the problem even worse. But now we're in a drug addict like cycle of needing high profits out of the financial sector, where the numbers are as much fantasy as reality, same as an addict needs higher amounts of drugs to get their next high. Makes me think of this cartoon.

  41. I actually agree with this idea. Safety is the most important part of owning a gun, and if takes the threat of judicial punishment to make certain people adhere to safety protocols that is fine by me. As a parent of a young child I have ensuring I dont just leave guns laying EVERYWHERE like I did when I was single - I couldnt imagine being able to cope with the guilt if something like that happens. Besides, if the Dems are allowed to push this we may get some political leeway in the way of taking down gun buster signs or getting ConCarry passed Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

I have had several of my fellow HCP holders explain to me that I stand no chance against the ISIS battle group that inevitably assaults my neighborhood Walmart. Whereas, they with their neato double column semi-autos will be able to save the day by taking out the entire ISIS organization with two extra magazines of 9MM. This is based on their combat experience at some neat school at some pistol range. I spent a total of 60 months in combat in VietNam (4 Tours) with the USMC so I am in no position to question their superior logic. I only need 5 shots to shoot the dumb SOB that goes looking for me and finds my hiding place.
