After a relaxing bath, Monica Lewinsky was looking at herself naked in a mirror...remembering her time with Bill Clinton. Her frustration over her inability to lose weight was depressing her. In an act of desperation, she decided to call on God for help.. "God, if you take away my love handles, I'll devote my life to you," she prayed. And just like that, her ears fell off! Touching story, isn't it!6 points

A guy walks into a bar and grabs a stool. He says to the bartender, "Hey bartender, wanna see something amazing?" Of course the barkeep replies in the affirmative and so the guy reaches in his bag and pulls out a tiny piano. Then a little guy walks out, sits down and starts playing Mozart. The bartender is awestruck and asks, "Where the heck did you get that?" "I have a genie." Incredulous, the bartender scoffs. The guy says, "No, really, I'll show you," and whips out a lamp, rubs it, and sure enough, out pops a genie. The guy instructs the genie to grant the bartender a wish. The bartenders says, "Ok, I wish I had a million bucks." Just then, the front door opens and in waddles a duck, followed by another, then another, and so on. The bartender screams, "You idiot, I said a million bucks not a million ducks!" The guy says, "Oh yea, I forgot to mention he's a little hard of hearing. Do you really think I wished for a 9 inch pianist?"4 points

Here is a new sheath I made today for my Fallkniven F1. It has a loop for a Gobspark Ranger fire steel and a pocket for a DMT mini diamond stone. I'm hoping to start making these to add to my Etsy shop. I need to tweak the design a little bit, but I'd like to hear some feedback on how I can make it better. I am switching over to black Durable DOT snaps and black oxide Chicago Screws. I'm hoping to find some black oxide tubular rivets as well. I'd like to add a metal eyelet/grommet to the bottom lanyard hole, but haven't found any long enough yet. The sheath has a filler along the back of the sheath to help protect the stitching from the blade. Stitching is a little rough in a couple of spots, which is my fault for getting in a hurry on a new machine I'm not used to yet. Any feedback would be helpful.3 points

Are you going to do a FTF only or offer shipping. The majority of everyday carry knives will fit in a small flat rate box. I think you'd be justified in a little premium for that on top of the $6 it costs to ship it. Gas and time to and fro ain't free. I'd be in for it. My current knife sharpener is the fellar what sets up in the back of the local gun show. Wait, are you really up for sharpening all the cheap knock offs we cheap/poor bastards carry? Kinda be like a Porche mechanic tuning up a Ford Tempo.3 points

Based on how I've seen TGOer's support needy causes in the past, I think the slow donation response may be related to folks not knowing the need rather than not caring. I'm wondering if your thread title could be changed, or start a separate thread, so that more folks are aware of the funding need. I know that was not the original intent of your thread but just a thought.3 points

A student nurse gave a man a sponge bath and he asked her if his testicles were black. She replied that she did not know. He asked her again if his testicles were black. She said that she did not know, she was only to give him bath from the knees down and the waist up. He asked her once more if his testicles were black. So she pulled down the sheet took his member in one hand and his testicles in the other. After looking them over she told him they looked fine. He then took off his oxygen mask, cleared his throat and said are ......my.........tests......back?3 points

I meant for a given range with .308win, the blackout will have the same amount of drop 275 yards closer. So max effective range is 1000 for .308, then it's 725 for blackout. I read an article of someone(TTAG?) using a 16" blackout carbine and consistently making hits on steel at 1000 yards with 123gr FMJ. It can be done. Blackout isn't worthless or immediately ineffective after 200yards. It's a great little round and not just a one trick pony. It's actually quite versatile.3 points

Couple of things: 1. 41P and 41F are one in the same. The "P" designation is the Proposed regulation and it changes to "F" once the regulation becomes Final. In this case, 41F is slightly different than 41P, but when people refer to them, they are really talking about the same thing. Attorneys refer to 41F now because that is the text that matters. 2. The 2-year lookback period refers to subsection ( c ) of the Final Rule. Under subsection ( c ), there is an exception to the need to file fingerprints and photos with a trust. The exception was this: Once a trust obtained a tax stamp under the new Final Rule (i.e., by providing the fingerprints and photos), the trust would not have to re-submit fingerprints and photos for any additional tax stamp application submitted within 2 years of the date of the approval IF THE RESPONSIBLE PERSONS HAD NOT CHANGED. The idea being that a person's fingerprints and photo is not likely to change significantly in a 2-year period. What is being referred to in the Prince Law article is that the ATF appears to be taking the position that the exception really doesn't mean anything and that trusts would have to provide fingerprints and photos every time. The Final Rule itself doesn't say that, though. Bottom Line: 1. if you have a trust, you MUST provide fingerprints and photos for each Responsible Person with the first tax stamp application you submit on or after July 13, 2016. 2. If 41F is actually followed, the trust would not have to provide fingerprints and photos more than once every 2 years (regardless of how many tax stamps it obtains in that 2-year period). 3. If 41F is NOT followed (which is what the article says), the trust would have to provide fingerprints and photos with every tax stamp application, regardless of whether or not the trust had been changed in the past 2 years. Until July 13th, there still is no reason to submit fingerprints or photos. If a trust NEVER applies for another tax stamp on or after July 13, 2016, the trust will NOT have to go back and submit fingerprints and photos for tax stamps already in process or approved before July 13th. Hope that helps.3 points

Guys, I am strongly considering buying a very expensive sharpening system that I saw at last years Blade show, If after posting many pictures of my personal knives Sharpened laser sharp and Mirror polished edge, would any of you consider paying a small fee for this service if I offer it? Just food for thought as I will buy the system anyway and on my offtime do this quite frequently2 points

Every donation, no matter the size ALWAYS helps! Thank you so much, I appreciate it!! Technically this has been a group effort. When we decided to put Daisy up for adoption after fully vetting her, she went to an amazing home that truly loves her. Being a person who helped facilitate that was an amazing feeling. Then, we sadly lost both of our girls and that feeling gutted me to the core. I felt empty. I immediately wanted Daisy back. I thought I made a mistake. I didn't get much. Then, the rescue that helped me find Daisy her home reached out one day and said hey can you transport a dog today? I ended up with 3 puppies coming home after I dropped that dog off. NEVER intended on that happening. Then the next day when I went to get my intended foster we went through intake and saw Cooper in his hopeless situation and I couldn't leave him there. I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought that I would end up with 10 dogs in our home. I don't think Monkey did either but luckily for me, he is a saint. Glamora (The shelter named her) leaves us tomorrow and that leaves us with the 4 babies and our 5. Once Cooper is healed and recuperated enough to join the other 3 pups it will be much easier. God knows it isn't always relaxing but it is rewarding beyond anything I could have imagined. It will be hard to see Glamora go tomorrow, but I am happy because she has a foster waiting and a potential adopter coming to meet her when she arrives. The generosity and outpouring of help has been amazing. I never predicted what I was going to do as I picked these pups up. It was just reacting to the scenarios as they happened. Once I was home I realized that Daisy's adoption fee was not going to cover all of the vetting for the pups. A rescue I know in Anna, Texas uses YouCaring because they take the least amount of money from the donations. So I started it, never dreaming that it would reach what it has. I thought $400 per puppy was enough to fully vet because we get discounts through the rescue. But then Cooper developed Kennel Cough and things just started to snowball. LOL I have learned that as I go, I might not tackle 5 at a time again. Especially the 4 puppies with a neurotic Border Collie mix. At the end of the day I just owe you all a HUGE thank you and I plan to do that once the weather is warmer. We'll have a BBQ and Shoot day or something. From the bottom of my heart, I promise you these pups will all be healthy and fully vetted and we will find them the best homes EVER. Thank you!!2 points

I guess you could call Kasey a rescue dog sorta. When she was a very small puppy with smoke blue eyes and Puppy breath I rescued her from a very large yellow tom cat that probably weighed 20+ pounds that the Animal Control and I had been trying to catch in a cage for about 5 months but was to smart to go in one. One day I heard what sounded like a puppy yapping out under my truck so I went to investigate once I knew my old hairless mutt was in the house. I laid down and looked and I could see that big cat had what I thought was a rat and I had made up my mind to take the advantage and kill the big cat. I took a single action six 22 cal pistol and put super shorts in it to not make much noise cause it's aganst the law to fire a gun inside the city and with one shot hit the big cat almost between the eyes killing it instantly. Then I could see that what it was trying to kill was still alive and a puppy yelped again. Shortly a scraggy bloody ball of fur came waddling out from under my truck. I realized it was very young puppy that the cat had evidently stole out of a litter of puppies. I picked her up and brought her inside to the kitchen sink and began cleaning her up with warm water. She was bleeding from cuts on her ears and her nose and one front paw. Once I got her cleaned up and dried off with blow dryer I made the ultimate mistake that I have always been warned about. I looked into her smoke blue eyes and allowed myself to bring her close enough that I was able to get her puppy breath in my nose really strong. That is a capital sin in the puppy world cause that means the puppy has found it's new home. I had to buy dog milk from the vet here locally and he gave me a syringe to feed her the milk with. Dog milk $11.95 for a four ounce can. She went through 8 cans while we were working on the weening process and on to food. That was now 16 years ago last November so I guess that makes her a rescue mutt don't it? I called my friend at animal control and told him I had that big yellow cat for him and when he stopped in the next day he was kind of surprised it was dead. He looked at me and gave me one of those shady smiles and said well, that's one way of doing it and loaded it up for disposal. I did allow her to have 1 litter of puppies when she was about 3 years old because old folks always said that once a female dog has been a mother then you have them spayed and they will make a much better pet. I don't know how true that is but once she weened her Pups Kasey was spayed and I placed all of them in great homes cause I had friends all speak up when they were first born for all 4 pups she had. Each one had them neutered because she had 4 boy pups which I thought was odd but they all did it because that was the only condition I put on any one getting one.......................... :up:2 points

They're really two different use cases. The AR10 could be a good hunting rifle, and has more legs than the 300, but it's a lot heavier rifle. I wouldn't want to lug mine around the woods all day. For pigs and deer, the 300 is more than adequate at the ranges you're most likely to encounter in Tennessee. And, if you're going with 110gr or 120gr supersonic stuff, you can stretch it out further if you spend some time getting to know the rifle. That said, I don't know that I've ever shot a pig that's been more than 100 meters away. The terrain they prefer here in the South just isn't conducive to longer shots in most cases.2 points

"nothing to offer"? Really? Even if you weren't going to suppress it, complete powder burn in <10" barrel makes it a dream to SBR. 1360 ft/lbs of energy with a 125gr bullet is plenty for light skinned game or hogs. The OP never mentions what game he may be hunting so that could become a factor. OP never mentions long range capability as a requirement, he merely states "The 308 would be more of a investment I believe to get started into but it will give me more of long range capability." If "long range" is a requirement, then that's a different discussion altogether.2 points

I just attended my second Oklahoma Run N Gun, and thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Details are here (http://www.okrunngun.com/), but the short version is that it's a 10k rifle/pistol match. Scores are 50% run time and 50% shoot score, and you carry all of your gear throughout. Here's a highlight video from my run this year to give you a better idea of what it's like: https://youtu.be/_L7U8M0_1UI I may have some land available that would work for an event such as this, but I would need a WHOLE LOT of volunteers and RO's to make it happen. And although I've helped at a lot of different matches, I've never put on my own match start to finish. So this is no small undertaking. Not to mention there would have to be enough demand to go through all the trouble to put it on. In Oklahoma they have 90 paying customers (they run them all in a single day - RO's run the day before) and sell out in a week or two. Match fees there are $100 each. Or if someone else has a better idea for a place/person to host this, I am 100% all on board to help however I can. IF I can get landowner permission we would be starting from scratch with raw forest, so the land I have in mind would be the hardest place possible to do it. The Oklahoma folks will help however they can, sharing insurance, legal, administration, etc. details and likely come out to shoot too. What do you think???1 point

I have a friend that has 2 boys that of an age where a boy needs a dog. Dad wants a great dane and mom wants something (a lot) smaller. I'm going to send them these pics and see if anything clicks. If it is Cooper that won't be a problem as they can wait for the right pup. Big fenced in back yard and 2 boys - 1 is 7 and the other is 8. Perfect age for everyone to run each other out of energy... We will see what turns up, Mark1 point

I own both, 300blk and 7.62x39 ARs. My X39 is a green mountain barrelled upper I built. It is 100% reliable, I use new generation ASC and C products mags(known a J mags, will fit AR mag pouches). I reload, but for the x39, all I run is cheap steel case and that's what I built it for. Some folks have issues, a lot is secondary to crap steel cases ammo, crap bolts(bolt thrust is an issue), incorrect firing pins, weak extractors, mags,etc.... I have no experience with the PSA x39stufff, but everything else I've gotten from them has been good. I used a rubber city armory 7.62x39 bolt and a red x enhance firing pin, zero issues. Got close to 1k through it to date. Sometimes it's nice to pick up ammo and just shoot and not to have to reload it . I think you need to decide what's more important, supersonic hunting or subsonic fun. If I wasn't heavily invested in subsonic shooting and needed a light and capable rifle that'll take deer out to 200-ish yard, the x39 would have been the easy choice. Not to mention, it has 150-200fps advantage over 300blk with full house 125grn loads. The above 16" rifle clocks Tula black box right at 2400fps.1 point

If I absolutely had to have an AR in 7.62x39 it would be the CMMG Mutant. They eliminate the two weak points of an AR in 7.62x39. First, it uses standard AK magazines and second it uses a much larger bolt head. If I remember correctly it is a 308 Winchester sized bolt head which is way better than a 5.56 sized bolt that has been machined for 7.62x39. I have owned several 7.62x39 ARs and I never really had any problems but they were not used a lot either. They were used for experimentation more than anything.1 point

I frequently get calls and e-mails asking vaguely asking, “What will I learn in this course?†The prospective student really doesn’t know what question to ask or what the right answer should be if they hear it. I have often sent people to other training schools after realizing the student wants to learn something in which my school, Tactical Response, doesn’t specialize. I am writing this to help students make a more educated decision about which course to purchase and from which school. Shooting and other defensive courses (knives, hand to hand, etc) can teach you in three distinct areas. They are mindset, tactics, and or skill. Many schools primarily teach skill based courses (how to shoot better) and their military and police customers love it because they don’t want to hear the other aspects because they think they have that part under control. If you are a competition shooter this is a good place for you to train because you can spend the entire time learning how to shoot better and faster. Schools that do this well are typically noted for the Spec-Ops types who frequent the establishment. You can expect to shoot in excess of one thousand rounds per day. Tactically oriented courses typically don’t have a tremendous amount of live fire. They are more interested in teaching you proper tactics i.e. movement, use of cover, communication, team tactics, and other strategic elements of winning a lethal force encounter. You can expect to see “force on force†scenarios using Code Eagle, Simunitions, or Airsoft training weapons where you actually learn to shoot at other human beings. This is the cutting edge stuff in my opinion. It is FAR more valuable than standing exactly in front of your paper target and shooting it. However you must understand proper marksmanship before Tactics training is of much value other than scaring you into taking a Skill only based class. Mindset covers your mental self, and more importantly your spirit as it relates to fighting. This is typically lecture that stimulates thought and motivates the student to do more than the average gun owner. Jeff Cooper pioneered this area of teaching and his information is the foundation of every schools philosophy. Typically covered are issues like alertness, aggressiveness, your coolness under pressure, ruthlessness (yes that is a positive thing when you are fighting for your life), decisiveness, etc A Fighting Mindset is the most difficult thing to get students to understand and implement. It takes a gifted teacher to awaken and motivate student’s drive and commitment. We have many students who can carry guns legally but don’t. Off-Duty Cops and Civilian Carry Permit holders are, as a whole, a lazy bunch of folks. They will come and shoot in the course but not carry a gun daily. When I learn the secret of how to unlock people’s minds and make them realize they might be next, I’ll be a millionaire. Find a school that cares about you personally, and whether or not you live, after you leave. The question you need to ask yourself is “What am I trying to accomplish?†Do you want to defend yourself, family, and home? Would you just like to get a higher score at the next IDPA match? Or you may ask yourself a series of questions. But knowing what you want to be able to do, or be on the road to being able to do, is the answer to your question and should be the basis for making your decision. The next obvious question is what does Tactical Response teach? Depending on what class you are referring all our classes emphasis a “fighting mindset†and the methods taught, even in our skills based courses like Advanced Tactical Pistol, lend themselves to being a part of your defensive toolbox. None of our courses are purely shooting; there is nothing wrong with those courses. It is just not our specialty. We teach the good guys (Police, Military, and Honest Citizens) how to kill bad guys. There is one last thing I want any prospective students to know. If you won’t be carrying a gun for defense either as a Citizen, Police Officer, or Soldier or you won’t be using a gun in your home for protection of yourself and or your loved ones we want you to train somewhere else. We don’t need you wasting our time. We have an important mission training serious students. We don’t need you slowing us down. Go play somewhere else. So essentially the decision is yours. Mindset? Tactics? Skill? Talk to the prospective Instructor and ask him what his courses offer and compare that with what you want to learn.1 point
