NURSING HOME POLICE Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair and loved to charge around the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel, and getting up to maximum speed on the long corridors. Because the poor woman was one sandwich short of a picnic, the other residents tolerated her, and some males actually joined in. One day, Ethel was speeding up one corridor when a door opened and Kooky Clarence stepped out with his arm outstretched. "STOP!" he shouted in a firm voice. "Have you got a license for that thing?" Ethel fished around in her handbag and pulled out a Kit Kat wrapper, and held it up to him. "OK" he said, and away Ethel sped down the hall. As she took the corner near the TV lounge on one wheel, Weird Harold popped out in front of her and shouted "STOP! Have you got proof of insurance?" Ethel dug into her handbag, pulled out a drink coaster, and held it up to him. Harold nodded and said, "Carry on, ma'am." As Ethel neared the final corridor before the front door, Crazy Craig stepped out in front of her, stark naked, with a very sizable erection.. "Oh, good grief," cried Ethel, "not the Breathalyzer again!"9 points

Wife : Shall I prepare Curry or Soup today? Husband : First make it, we will name it later A frustrated husband in front of his laptop : Dear Google, please do not behave like my wife... Please allow me to complete my sentence before you start guessing & suggesting. A married man's prayer : Dear God, You gave me childhood, You took it away You gave me youth, You took it away. You gave me a wife ... Its been years now, just reminding You. A man brings his best buddy home for dinner unannounced at 5:30 after work. His wife begins screaming at him and his friend just sits and listens in. "My hair & makeup are not done, the house is a mess, the dishes are not done, I'm still in my pajamas and I can't be bothered with cooking tonight ! Why the hell did you bring him home for?" Husband answers "Because he's thinking of getting married" Employee : Sir You are like a lion in the office! What about at home ??? Boss : I am a lion at home too, But there we have a lion tamer !!! A couple was having dinner at a fancy restaurant. As the food was served, the husband said, "the food looks delicious, let's eat." Wife : honey ... you say prayer before eating at home Husband : that's at home sweetheart ... here the chef knows how to cook. Betty turned 100 in the nursing home and was being interviewed by a reporter, she was sitting on a couch and started to lean to the left and the nurse grabbed her and straightened her up, said be careful Betty and don't fall, then Betty started to lean to the right, the nurse straightened her up again and told betty to be careful not to fall, then betty started to lean forward, the nurse straightened her up again quickly sayin be careful betty. The reporter asked Betty how she liked it at the nursing home, Betty said I like it fine but they wont let you fart.4 points

A televangelist was asked by Robert to pray for his hearing. After several min. of shaking and trying to push him over. The preacher asked Robert how his hearing was. Robert replied he wouldn't know until Tuesday at the court house.4 points

No one should ever break any of the safety rules surrounding firearms but if you do just hope you are following the others. It is when two, or more, safety rules are ignored that things get really dangerous. I have had my fair share of accidental discharges but I am always super, super about where my muzzle is. And dare I say it but we have all broken a gun safety rule a time or two ourselves. I can honestly say I am glad there isn't a video of some of the stupid crap I did when I was young.3 points

While I understand the premise, I just don't think it is a big enough issue to solve it by having even more subforums. I suspect most of us start with the "view new content" link. That isn't going to help the issue. I would recommend titles being more descriptive and profiles being up to date. At least a general location should be available such as Middle, East, or West TN. "Middle of nowhere" does no one any good.3 points

If you're posting for a regional event, you're welcome to title it appropriately - maybe leading with the City/Region in the title. We've got a bunch of members that will travel a couple of hours to events - training, gun shows, etc... Truthfully, we favor more visibility as opposed to less.3 points

I shoot with both eyes open. It was something I had to get used to in the beginning, but now it is really weird to close one eye. Having both eyes open gives me much better peripheral vision as well as depth perception. It also takes muscle strength to close your left eye which causes strain you your entire face. That little bit can take concentration away from your dominant eye. It's hard to explain, but if you keep shooting with both eyes open your right eye will eventually focus naturally by itself. As to "getting on target faster", don't worry about that. Work your dry fire drills like JCoop explains to train your muscle memory to get the gun out of the holster cleanly. Most shooters who simply think they need to "quick draw" will botch their first shot because they have jerked the gun too fast from the holster and didn't get a good grip on the gun. If they did manage a decent grip, the second part of the draw is screwed by pushing to the target too quickly and not getting a good sight picture. They crack the first shot and it's nowhere on paper. Next time you're at our shoot, watch Scott Randolph. He is not the fastest at drawing, or moving for that matter (you're my hero Scott), but Scott is one of the best shooters I've had the pleasure of shooting with. He gave me some very good advice and that was to make sure the draw is clean and to get a positive sight picture on the first target. From there, it's a matter of simply pressing the trigger and making smooth transitions. Scott proves this time and time again with smooth and exact motions, and it shows when the rest of us are trying to catch his match times.3 points

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything but let me tell you what relationship certifications and experience have when it comes to getting hired. And this is coming from me, a guy who manages a Tier 3 problem-solving team for a Fortune 100 company and has no problem ending an interview 10 minutes into it to either tell the candidate "Thank you and have a nice day" or "I think we might have a place for you here". Certifications without experience will often get you in the door to get experience. You passing an industry standard test in your field of focus tells me that (a.) you know the basics and have a foundation that I and my team can build upon, (b.) have the tenacity to see something through to completion and (c.) perform at least reasonably well under pressure and can recall those basics of your foundation when the heat is on. Experience without certifications will often get you overlooked by the resume screeners. Automated or human, doesn't matter. I and many hiring managers like me want resumes screened to see if you have various certifications for the reasons I mentioned above. Certifications AND Experience will not only catch my attention but, provided you interview well, aren't a douche, and can honest-to-God back up anything you put on your resume, may even land you a job with pay commensurate with your experience and skill level. Seriously, if you listen to only one piece of advice I offer freely... don't fluff your resume. If you don't want to risk being asked to expand on it or, worse yet, do it as part of your job... don't list it as something you are proficient in. If you have casual experience with something and feel compelled to include it, mention that it is just that: Casual Experience. Nothing causes me to blacklist someone and spread the word about it faster than a candidate who wastes my time by seeding their resume with key words just to get an interview, only for me to find out that they misrepresented themselves on paper. Nashville's IT community is staggeringly small, and word gets around fast. Many of us who have been doing IT professionally within Nashville for 10-20 years have acquired a network of friends and former colleagues all over town. A bad reputation with one of them can quickly spread to all of them. I'd strongly suggest you pick a field of technology that really resonates with you and begin mastering it. Pair that with leadership traits and back it up with a management degree of some sort, and you'll be amazed at what doors open for you. Oh... and one last thing: If you aren't applying for a management job, you might think carefully about specifically calling those out in your resume. Some managers hate hiring people who were previously managers, as they feel threatened. I couldn't care less and actually like seeing leadership roles on a resume, but I've got peers who wig out about it for some reason. Hope some of this helps.2 points

It's the denial of the ND that bothers me. So far I fall into the camp of "Hasn't happened to me yet" but as they say... There but by the grace of God, go I. That could easily be me some day. And as the OP said, we're all human.2 points

No, well not necessarily. You'll find that even parts that usually are comparable don't always work. Your are better off buying a complete gun. For instance, while PSA uses the DPMS pattern, DPMS pattern parts don't always fit or work. That's pretty true across the board. While their are two base platforms there is no standard like the AR 15. That being said, if your are going to build, pick a platform and stick to it. Bolts, carriers, barrels, barrel extensions, barrel nuts, buffers, buffer tubes, receiver takedown pins, gas tube length, gas block, upper/lower receivers fitment, and handguards can all be somewhat "proprietary" between manufactures. if you are going to watch the Big Game then how do you skip the halftime? I went to a Big Game once. Number 16. Up with People was the halftime show. Times have changed. I have no clue who Coldplay is.They were terrible. I did enjoy the Bruno Mars/Beyonce bit. She should have been the headliner. Coldplay was way out of their league. Lady Gaga would have been great for halftime. Maybe next year. She has mad talent. I watched her a couple of years ago on Rockin New Years Eve. ...This from an old curmudgeon fart.2 points

So as usual no progress on removing the onerous penalties in place in TN for carry past the multitude of inconsistent, nebulous, and often barely visible posting signs allowed in TN. We need something like this in Missouri: Locations Where Not Authorized – Not a criminal act under Missouri law (See 571.107 RSMo) A ccw permit does not authorize any person to carry concealed firearms into the 17 locations summarized below. (See statute for full details on each.) Doing so is not a criminal act under Missouri law, but may subject the permit holder to denial to the premises or removal from the premises. If the individual refuses to leave after being asked and the police are called, he or she may be issued a citation for an amount not to exceed $100; a second offense within 6 months is a $200 fine and suspension of the ccw permit for one year; a third offense within 12 months is a $500 fine and the loss of the ccw permit for 3 years. Numerous other states similar. Why is no one in TN interested in this issue?2 points

when everyday residents can't get permits there I am not sure why retired LEO should get special privileges. The wrong is not the retired LEO angle, the wrong is the NJ laws to begin with.2 points
-
No sympathy from me on this. Welcome to being just a citizen. Until we quit creating different classes of the priveliged we will never have equality under the law. Retired police officers should not be considered "special". Nor should politicians or prosecutors or judges or anyone who works for the gov'mnt. If we are all citizens then we should not have priveleged classes of citizen. The right to bear arms is meant for all.2 points

While out on my gun shop checks for the week I stumbled on a neat little 22 magnum. I never knew the single shot Ithacas existed until last month when a 22lr appeared in the classifieds of TGO. This one is missing all of the paint from the receiver and the lever, but it actually looks like it was supposed to have came that way. The wood is beautiful and the blue is neat with its patina. The best I can tell it is from about 1963. I can imagine the stories it could tell.1 point

None of these bills change anything for the average handgun carry permit person as far as reducing restrictions on us that we can get arrested/cited over, such as the no gun sign law. All the college and school carry bills apply to such narrow circumstances that not many people with permits will benefit from it, if any. What K-12 school is going to come out with a policy knowingly letting their employees carry? How many college employees will carry? Why not just a clean bill giving an exception for all people with handgun carry permits like other states do? The school and the sign penalty problems could be fixed with a couple cleanly worded bills, but instead time is wasted on bills that will not help the problem. I guess someone will get their NRA pat on the back during the election year because they looked like they did something when in fact did nothing.1 point

I only use the "View New Content" feature so no matter how the forums are broken down I get a mix of posts. As for posting in certain areas, it would be nice to include a location in the title some thing like: "Nashville - Glock 19 NIB". Also, while it may be a bit funny to put "middle of nowhere" in your profile its hard to know where a poster is unless they specify. A few ads I have seen it specifies local only but no location given; though many do add where they travel for possible meeting places.1 point

Does it matter what color it is? Does it matter how much it weighs? Also how much does durability matter? I can print one in ABS, PLA, woodfiber, or bridge nylon pretty easily though woodfiber is pricy and bridge nylon though strong is very tedious to print with so I would prefer to print at least the first few in PLA due to ease of printing and dirt cheap cost. Here's the best looking model I found with a quick search. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8990831 point

Aluminum, silicon, or epoxy would be a lot cheaper than printing, and more durable.1 point

As much as I love TGO I have no interest in telling the world that there may be a gun in my vehicle for the taking. However if they ever get anymore of those free Bernie Sanders stickers I would like to get one of those for my truck because it's a well known fact that people that have Bernie stickers on their car have never worked hard enough to have anything nice.1 point

I've wondered about those. Good to know they're popular. KahrMan, could you post the link to the Amazon page for the ones you got? Then again, you could keep the room in your safe available by just carrying all of your handguns on your person at all times.1 point
