A reminder about what all of our servicemen have given to preserve the freedoms we have. Thank you.4 points

Thanks for posting this bit of history! Many people sacrificed so much for the betterment of others. Let us not forget our history. Especially at a time when we have those in our land trying to rewrite it! The time when leaders were united and decisive to fight for a righteous cause with the idea of bringing tyranny to an end seem to be over. WWII seems to be the last time we had balls and the will to prevail. God bless America and God help us!3 points

I hope you knew I was kidding. Sometimes I do have a weird sense of humor  I'd rather see you raise the money than sell a but if it's a gun you hate, well….. ;) Did my taxes yesterday and expecting a refund so if you haven't reached your goal when it comes, I'll donate some more.3 points

I am proud to say that I have absolutely no idea who this lady is. Therefore, I could give a rat's ass what she thinks about anything. I'm going to go out a limb and say that the majority of people in MS would feel the way.3 points

Nobody simply tried Melatonin to start? Small dose works better for most folks than larger ones, start with just .75mg, then 1.5, 1.75, and if 3mg doesn't work then higher dose probably won't either. - OS3 points

Used pistol Manufacture year was 2000 - picked this up today and it's my first Hi-Power. I really like the bluing and there is not a scratch or blemish to be found. It appears to have been shot very little so much so that internals look new as well. Came with just one mag and I ordered another today. I don't have a trigger gauge to tell me lbs, but this trigger is very smooth and crisp and feels the 5-6 lb range. I'll post a range report next week when I can get to the range. Cheers!2 points

The Germans counter attacked our beach head at Anzio, Italy with the intention of driving us back into the sea. The fighting was brutal hand to hand. The German attack looked like it would reach the sea when the US Navy stepped in and created a rain of steel from their big guns. The German attack was broken. The US Navy did the same thing previously at Salerno and Gila. They would do it again at Normandy.2 points

Well, I took the new 20 out for a test drive yesterday. It ran great as expected! I just shot it bone stock with factory 200gr FMJ. I punched out the center with the first shot. It felt great, and I really enjoyed shooting it. No issues with just 50 rounds. I'll put it through the paces when I have more time. I'll post a pic when I get one since that's the "rule", but it's a glock :) I have a Safariland ALS OWB holster for it now. That will work for woods carry, and I plan to try a shoulder or chest holster at some point or when I'm on the tractor.2 points

the best thing that could happen for gun rights this year would be getting rid of the criminal penalty behind the no gun sign. forget this other stuff that aint likely to happen.2 points

Jesus Christ!!! It has been legal to open carry a handgun without a permit in Kentucky for as long as I can remember. How is this state any different? Any "blood in the streets" predictions are for complete idiots.2 points

C_A you are exercising your 1st Amendment right without undergoing any test or permit....and that is exactly what was intended by the 2nd Amend. as well. The key to both 1st and 2nd is personal responsibility. I teach the carry permit class and it is not magical. A few may be exposed to safety rules and minimal shooting instruction, but unfortunately that does not make one safe, trained, or experienced. However much one is 'trained" is a personal decision, not mine or yours which is the way the Constitution meant it to be. Emphasis needs to be on further training, not on stricter laws....there are more than enough of those already.2 points

I agree, if they want to infringe on our Constitutional Rights, then at the very least they should make them free and immediate. The whole thing is nothing more than a revenue stream that the State will not infringe upon, if it was about safety they would have more meat in the classes and make many more courses available to the public. I support Constitutional Carry, but if it where to pass in TN, I would still maintain my permit; at least until the rest of the US follows suit which will be...never.2 points

Seen these at Walmart as well as Rural King and even Harbor Freight check pricing to get the best deal. Not much to them just threaded to mate to both cylinders. It's not hard but there is a trick to it. First screw in the filler valve onto the 20lb cylinder, then turn the 20lb upside down, then screw in the 1lb cylinder (some say chill the 1lb first) then open the 20lb's valve and fill until it stops flowing then shut off the 20lb's valve and unscrew the 1lb cylinder. Have a set of needle nose pliers handy to jiggle the 1lb cylinder's needle valve if necessary. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Enerco-Mr-Heater-F276172-Propane-Tank-Refill-Adapter/217998982 points

We moved our family to Gallatin recently (last June), and I am finally starting to spend most of my time in the area. I am the Director of Product Development and Engineering for Beretta USA (relatively new, just shy of two years) and we are just starting to ramp up in our new facility in Gallatin. Happy to be out of the DC area for sure! I hit the TN Action Pistol shoot this past Wednesday (Feb 3rd) and had quite a bit of fun. Didn't do so great, but I didn't cause any "incidents" so that is a good start. Met a bunch of nice people, and look forward to continuing that when I can, and poking around the forums.1 point

Several years ago I purchased a new house in an upscale part of Chattanooga. My house is very private with the driveway going up about 500 feet on a steep hill into the woods. The house cannot be seen from the main road, which is one of the reasons I bought it. The area is very low crime, and I thought the property layout was ideal for not having to worry about thieves and such. The driveway and woods are natural deterrents. I felt so secure that I had never thought of buying a safe or putting in an alarm system. I had guns, knives, watches, etc... unsecured all over the house. For almost three years nothing happened... or at least that is what I thought. My 80 year old mother lives with me, and every now and then she would tell me that she thought someone had been in the house. She would say stuff like she thought someone had taken a shower or slept in my bed. Nothing was missing from the house so I would always dismiss it as old age and/or paranoia. A few weeks ago on a Saturday she told me that someone had been in her van and there was a bunch of stuff in it that wasn't hers. I dismissed her concern by rationalizing that it was more than likely my nephew's stuff he left in it when he borrowed it a month ago. She didn't buy my reasoning and was adamant that someone had been in her van. She wanted to call the police to have them fingerprint or do all the cool CSI stuff to figure out who was in it. I told her that since nothing was missing that they wouldn't do anything at all, so there is no point in calling them. I also asked her why nothing was stolen from the house (she would keep a backup house key in her van). In the end, nothing was done. A couple of days had went by and I had pretty much forgotten about things until I came home from work that Monday and found my sister and nephew at my house. When I walked in the house I was informed that the police were on their way. When I inquired as to why, I was told that it was because someone had not only been in my mom's van, but they had borrowed it by hot-wiring it and brought it back. The stuff they left in the van was drug paraphernalia (gram-size baggies, drug residue, etc...). When the police arrived, they investigated my mom's van. It was loaded with drugs and drug residue. Whoever borrowed it was using it as a party van or drug dealing. They were grinding up Xanax pills. Wow, just wow. Nobody in our family is into anything like that. Heck, we don't know anybody that is into stuff like that. The entire situation was baffling, but it was also very scary. We have no idea how often this happened, nor did we know if those people had been in my house. There was a house key in the van, and my mom would swear that someone had been in the house from time to time. The baffling thing is nothing has been stolen. I chalked that up to sheer luck and good fortune. The very next day I took off from work. I met with security people to install a monitored security system for my house, changed all the locks on my door, installed motion detected flood lights, installed 4 sets of blinds in my kitchen, bought a 1000 lb. Liberty Colonial-50 safe, and commanded that no keys will be left outside the house. This entire situation has been so confusing, but as I said earlier, I feel very fortunate that I did not have anything stolen. The other thing I will take from this situation is not to be so dismissive of my mother's concerns. She still may be a little paranoid at times, but in this situation, she was correct in her observations.1 point

Well hopefully someone here gets him. That puppy would get lost in the first snowstorm in CT (and they're about to get hit up there). I'm not an expert but from what I can tell, the size of his legs and paws means he will be a big one. (like you said) Something tells me you were watching the puppy bowl instead of the super bowl... ;)1 point

I hope you find a good home for him. I can barely keep up with the three rescues we already have, but that is a cute little guy.1 point

I replaced a Daniel Defense rail on one of those guns. So, price wasn't an issue. I didn't fall in love with the looks so much. Didn't fall in love until I put the rifle in my hands. Plain and simple fact... there is no reason to have front to back rails on a rifle.1 point

I have the same thing, a TVA power line running right though the middle. It was a narrow valley which I could barely get through with a 4 wheeler, so I had a bulldozer open it up 2 blades wide. It had a bunch of large rocks that came out, and I thought I was good. But before I could even plant it we had heavy rain which brought up all the rocks again. I used a box blade to regrade and planted the food plot with corn. It came up well and gave me a chance to lock in some soil, the next year I used roundup then lightly disked and planted a food plot mix I put together at the coop, mostly clover, white and red. It came up good as well, but the deer kept it well trimmed, which I didn't mind, but had to replace the next year. Finally, I spread grass seed, and will just keep it trimmed, every planting season I spread some no till seed mix into it. Corn: Clover: Grass:1 point

YOu have to be careful with sears on Hi-Powers. The trigger mechanism is a fairly tight/specific fit. It is very easy to wind of up with a dangerous firing situation. Take the mag safety out. It will be like performing a trigger job in terms of weight and smoothness of trigger pull. I also highly recommend one of the C&S Combat Triggers.1 point

Pretty much how I did it, except the cultipacker since I don't have one. The area is quite rocky but it came up decently the first year, but I have a lot of wild berries and other weeds on the hills on each side which I can't keep from taking over. The rain also runs off the topsoil, and with it the good vegetation. I got frustrated so I spread grass seed to hold the soil and if it does like my lawn, clover will overrun that.1 point

No, politics will prevent it. Haslam uses the finance committee to kill bills he doesn't want on his desk. But if you look at some of the bills that get killed vs the ones that pass, there is a big disparity between them and some of the passed bills are no more than feel good bills to garner inner city votes.1 point

Thanks for the read, sadly I'm very lacking on the European front of the war. Good reminder since all I've heard about is the Super Bowl.1 point

We have killed a lot of turkey and set out of our clover plots. Probably not for a new clover plot, but for an established clover plot, you'll want to make sure you cut it down some before turkey season because when the clover gets too tall, they turkeys won't want to be in it. For a clover plot, the best thing to do is : soil sample, adjust pH and fertilize as needed, round up, lightly disc, spread seed, cuktipack.1 point

I have 7 or 8 Andersons. IMO anything more expensive and all you're getting is a certain name or look. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I have a few billet lowers, but the more I build the more I see them as a utility item and use them as such.1 point

I have never seen a gun mag in a doctor's office but when I was a kid in Georgia the Barber Shop my dad took me to had millions of Guns&Ammo mags. When the Barber finished up my haircut he'd always offer me a piece of bubblegum. I'd always say "can I have this gun book instead?" He'd laugh and I'd get both. Man those were the good old days. Same happened to me for years until I contacted the FBI and applied for a Federal UPIN. Unique Personal Identification Number. They did an extensive background check, I was clean, and now I just have them call in my UPIN number with each transfer!! No problem. TBI sucks!1 point

Wing... Both mine still have the stock recoil spring in 'em... I'm kinda like you... Probably need ta look at a bit heavier one... I like the idea of a rifled barrel to shoot hard cast linotype loads out of... Would like to try some 200 grain truncated flat noses in them; and load 'em pretty heavy... I'm kinda thinkin about a Storm Lake barrel; they are brother Tennesseeans right here in East Tennessee... http://www.storm-lake.com/ ... My guess is that their aint a nickel's worth of difference between any of them... They all work very well... leroy1 point

I'd rather they fight to get a bill passed for proper classes and permits for first amendment rights too... I don't like a lot of what people have to say, and think some don't know much about their religions and all kinds of things that should be proven before they are allowed their rights. It doesn't matter if its a right, we should limit it just to be on the safe side.1 point

How about this list of states, which allow open carry without a permit: KY, MO, AR, LA, MS, AL, NC, VA Only 1 state that we touch requires you to have a permit to carry a handgun in some form or fashion, GA and of course TN. KY, AR, MS, VA, and NC are considered 'gold star' states, they don't seem to have any problems with 'untested' people carrying firearms, why do we think our citizens are so much different from theirs?1 point
-
Here's some states that have carry without a permit. Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Vermont, Wyoming, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma. If there were a problem with that in any of those states I guarantee you the main stream media would be all over it saying, see, we told you so. Obviously there's been no problems with it.1 point

I think it should be recognized as a right but doubt to see that anytime soon. It is upheld that certain actions can take rights away from criminals, so this wouldn't allow criminals to run around with guns, just like criminals don't have the rights to purchase a gun legally now. Optimistically, I would love to see constitutional carry but doubt we'll see it in TN anytime soon. Overall I submit to the idea of paying for privileges/rights and do just that so I can drive and carry legally in TN. The biggest issue I have with the current HCP setup in Tennessee is the time and monetary burdens that it imposes. I don't think we should be so restrictive so that someone who feels they are in immediate harm cannot carry a handgun for their issue. A woman feels threatened by her new ex-boyfriend? As long as she coughs up ~$60 for a class and then $115 for the application fee and then waits 3-6 weeks, she can carry legally! If constitutional carry were passed in Tennessee, I think a voluntary permit system should still stay in place so that reciprocity can still be established in cooperating states. It would be a form of income for the state and anyone interested enough in carrying while traveling would likely be happy to do so. What constitutional carry would do is allow people in their own state be armed while out and about. On the flipside, ultimately the "safety course" doesn't really go that far in actually helping people. I doubt many people leave that class being much more intelligent or safer than before they attended. Also, there are many people who have taken the HCP Safety Course and I still would not want to be around them at the range .Some people are careless and think they know better and nothing will prevent them from exercising Darwinism. For opponents of this bill, I think it would be worth noting states that have allowed constitutional carry. They have not turned into the bloodbaths like we are told they would, just like TN hasn't turned into a bloodbath over the vehicle carry issue recently.1 point

It's not up to you or I to say they can't carry because we don't trust them.1 point

UUUUMMM, are we posting on the right forum? To the second part, it will not allow felons to "legally" carry a firearm of any kind or to even possess a firearm of any kind. And who are we to judge who is responsible or not to carry a handgun? I know people, and i'm sure we all know someone who we "wish" didn't own a firearm but it's not my place or anyone else's to tell the masses who should or should not carry. That's punishing everyone for the idiocy of the few. And, it's called the Bill Of RIGHTS, not the Bill Of PRIVILEGES.1 point
