1. So how many times have you been to your doctor, dentist, chiropractor, or eye doc's office's waiting room only to find nothing but old lady magazines strewed about? If you're real lucky, maybe a Sports Illustrated or Road & Track?   Why not guarantee some good reading during your wait and then paying it forward by leaving a copy or two of your favorite gun magazine? I've been doing this for years.   We all have that pile laying around the house that we can't stand the thought of tossing in the garbage, yet we've read them cover to cover several times. I keep a rolling stack of such magazines in my utility closet and when I head to a doc's office, take a couple with me to slide into the pile. It's pretty fun too if you're a people watcher like me. In will walk a guy that you just know shoots cold steel, and then confirm it when he beelines right for the gun mag you put between Better Home & Gardens and the Nashville Scene.   And it's always fun if you spot a liberal who suddenly gets that "shocked look of disdain!"     So share the wealth and shoot it forward.

 2. Used pistol Manufacture year was 2000 - picked this up today and it's my first Hi-Power. I really like the bluing and there is not a scratch or blemish to be found. It appears to have been shot very little so much so that internals look new as well. Came with just one mag and I ordered another today. I don't have a trigger gauge to tell me lbs, but this trigger is very smooth and crisp and feels the 5-6 lb range. I'll post a range report next week when I can get to the range. Cheers!

 8. Great having you two out again. Love watching the brotherly competition. It was good to see everyone and having new shooters. Hope everyone enjoyed the match on this beautiful February day. We appreciate you spending your day with us. Thanks to everyone who showed up early to help with setup, it made everything go well.

 9. Get off the tourist path and explore. The Happy Meal at McDonald's cost $15 the last time we were in Zurich. Off on side streets you can get relatively large and good meals for $5 to $6. Any US franchise is expensive. Eating food Off the street carts may be romantic but learn the local phrases for stomach & diarrhea medicine ahead of time. They will not understand your humor and Google translate will make it worse. The "ugly american" who knows it all and tells them what's wrong with their country or work process Will offend the nationals and limit the positive interaction you can have. You are rich, just because you could make the trip so look for prices to increase and legal issues like drugs to not be forgiven easily. Keep copies of your passport stashed in different suitcases in case you get robbed. Current value of stolen US passport was $1000 last I checked. My experience. Your mileage may vary.

 12. First and foremost, Merry Christmas! After months of passively searching, I purchased a factory FDE SilencerCo Osprey 45 suppressor for my FN FNX 45 Tactical in FDE. I purchased the suppressor via GunBroker from BMC Tactical/Warrior Steel. After remitting my payment 45 days ago, my suppressor arrived at my preferred LGS, the Nashville Armory. The wait time officially begins as my paperwork has been submitted!

 13. He sure looks better! Their ability to physically recover is amazing. I'm sure that once he is feeling better and has energy for play that his muscle will return. His eyes look good and he's certainly relaxed in the photos. I'm sure he'll spring back quick. Thanks for the update.

 14. If I do list anything it will be my Glock NiB-X 21sf. Damn think has sat new in a box and I finally took it out last weekend. HATED it. I can't say what it is about it, but it fit so badly and my grouping was AWFUL. Took out my new 20 and grouped perfectly. I either have officially become a super huge ass who loves 10mm only or that gun is just too damn big for my hands despite it being an SF. Had a good talk today with my buddy at the LGS when I picked up my new 17 in NiB-X and he also thought it had to do with size. The 17 is amazing and fits beautifully in my hand. I hate to go back down to 9mm from 10mm but I love the capacity even though my 20 isn't far behind. I for sure have become a NiB-X junkie, I might have to replace my 20 soon. It's my only all black Glock and that is not OK. But Monkey said I would have to sell a kidney or part of my liver before selling a gun. :) It is. Thats what makes it great! I actually received a donation from Australia today! Small amounts help always. Any amount helps. If I told you the whole story of how I got these puppies and what has transpired since Monday it would be a novel. I did't plan on Kennel Cough, especially since he had been vaccinated. I am proud that he's up almost 2.5 lbs in 4 days with me. I am just worried about the babies getting it, because it is airborne. We moved him to a separate room where I will sleep with him tonight to tend to his needs if he has any. And we are about half way there but that was pre-Kennel Cough. The vets we use offer the rescue that I work with as an "individual consultant" (meaning they background check applicants and have official adoption contracts) allow me to use their discounts. Which is a blessing. I am going to have to raise my goal a wee bit I think but I will do that down the road because I am going to only spay/neuter as they become ready for adoption. Here's 2 of Cooper at the vet today waiting to be seen: If you compare those to the first picture I posted of him, there is already a big difference in his body. The 2.5 pounds made a big difference. I think the food with added vitamins, glucosamine, bio-lac and kibble mixed is making a big difference. He also eats a whole can of Salmon and Sweet Potato a day, that's supposed to help with his legs. He literally has zero muscle. Once he is better we're going to go outside for playtime and hopefully build some slowly but surely. Big things are changing for sure! We just hit over the $500 mark which is amazing. I have also had offers of donations via mail by check. I am ok with that too. Anything is greatly appreciated in helping these pups! Thanks again everyone for all the help. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. I am seriously considering applying for a 501c3 to start doing this constantly. All because of a Coon Hound named Daisy. Who'd have thought a gun forum and a Coon Hound could be that inspiring!?!?!

 16. Nada here, but I've used about every sleep med on the market.  Lunesta worked great at keeping me asleep, but after a few weeks I could tell there was a huge issue with grogginess the next day.  Use ambien for a really, really long time and it was great at knocking me out but would wake up 4 hours later and need another one (this was low dose stuff, the controlled release may be different).  Started taking alprazolam for my autonomic issues, and turns out one of those before bed zonks me out, so no reason to take an extra med.   There was a new med on the market that supposedly worked extremely well, but there were no generics and with my insurance it was $300~/month copay.  I forget what the name was, it may be in the same class as belsomra, but I can't remember the exact name.   The only way to know what works for you is to test it out.  best deal is take one tonight since it's saturday night, in case you end up being drowsy tomorrow.

 19. I went to the Green Hills theater today to watch Sicario(which was awesome), and I saw staff wanding people looking for weapons before a special viewing. I was disturbed by this and spoke to a cop there. I asked him where the signage was banning weapons from the premises? I looked everywhere and not a one sign in sight. The manager said, "I think we have one somewhere...." Yeah, that wand is gonna do a lot of good when a psycho goes out the unguarded exit door in the theater and gets weapons. Rolling my eyes at that.. The cop didn't know dick about proper signs or anything like that. I don't think he fully understood anything. I'm preaching to the choir here, but I was annoyed by it all. Just had to get it off my chest.

 20. A quick Google shows plenty of places to buy a rambler. Not sure what you mean by that. And shipping is never the hold up. Production will, but shipping in today's world isn't really a constraint for anything.

 23. Experience lesson: No matter what your cell provider tells you & how much you pay....it won't work in Europe. Jules & I keep hold of a couple of dirt cheap UK phones for the odd times we have to fly back to England. If you smoke, be careful in Europe. In a lot of places it's outright banned, in most others it's frowned upon. A lot of cities have no smoking in public laws & they DO enforce them. If you dip, make sure you have a spitter bottle. Spitting is hugely rude in Europe. Get a bus timetable for every city you'll visit. European taxis are crippling expensive ($8-$10 per mile is not uncommon) and are very good at 'detours.' Public transport is cheap, quick, very regular & clean. Everything is expensive compared to the US. VERY expensive. Last time I was in England a pack of Marlboro was $15! Tipping in restaurants is not expected our required. Wait staff actually get a decent wage & are not tip-reliant. Don't forget the time difference. Not actually the clock change, so much as the daytime cycle. Here, most folk start work earlier & stores are open earlier & later. The European norm is that most places don't start until 8-9 & many close between 5-6. Eating out is a much later affair though. Going out for an evening meal at 9pm is usual & many people don't think of going out for a drink until 10pm

 25. Well, it's Kennel Cough. Which stinks. Even with the rescue's discounts we still just shelled out $132. The good news is he's got a shot and 2 bottles of pills and should be fine in 10 days. So I hate to be a nag, but for all you dog lovers: https://www.youcaring.com/coop-liz-ressler-and-red-516225 If that doesn't work, you're going to force me to list guns for sale. And that will get me beat. You wouldn't want that, would you? LOL! Don't answer that.

 31. If you see an older S&W with a pinned barrel it's still threaded into the frame. The in is just to prevent it from loosening or backing out. I don't know of a revolver with a truly pinned barrel, but could be wrong. It's used on some rifles and usually the barrel us also a press or shrink fit.

 34. If I were going to get into that game I would get these sights:   http://www.tech-sights.com/ruger3.htm and put them on a standard wood stock 10/22. o   If you want to make that gun shoot really good then I would send the trigger to Brimstone and just get the Tier 3 for 38.50:  http://www.brimstonegunsmithing.com/collections/ruger-10-22/products/tier-3-basic-10-22-trigger-work   But then I would send the barrel to Randy at CPC and get it rechambered and crowned:  http://www.ct-precision.com/ruger10-22.html I would then either buy a Kidd bolt or have Randy at CPC clean up the OEM bolt at the same time he does your barrel.  After that I would bed the action and put a pressure pad under the barrel.   Here is what Appleseed says: chrome-extension://bpmcpldpdmajfigpchkicefoigmkfalc/views/app.html

 40. I want to thank all of the great TGO members for all their help and good wishes. MrsMonkey took this all on herself and it has been a challenge. Just one look at Cooper makes it all worth while. The little pups are fuzzy and cute and I feel will find much better homes this way, but Cooper and Glam are really special. To see these two that have never know anything other than the animal shelter is amazing. Cooper is more comfortable in his crate where he feels safe than any other dog I've seen. I think it's the first time in his life he can relax. At six months glam is seeing the world for the first time outside of the shelter. I'm really proud of my wife for doing this even after I woke up with a puppy on my face. :)

 44. I purposely left my first post short to add this now.   I would take that chance to engage an active shooter whether I or my family were in danger or not.  But I have a bit more training than the average gun carriers and have enough confidence in my training to feel that I would make a good decision on whether to take the shot or not.     This is not to say I am an expert door kicking Seal Team, Delta force, Ninja or anything, but I've been lucky enough to get some good training and have had the unfortunate opportunity to exchange gunfire in combat which gave me the knowledge of how I would react in certain life and death circumstances.  You would be surprised at how some react in SHTF situations, even combat vets.   But threads like this do give me something to consider, and should be considered by all of us; if you choose to engage you may just be on your own!

 45. Hell no! You are only obligate to save your family's ass and your own ass. That being said - if Jihadi John is gunning dudes down, and I am not outgunned and can get a clean shot on him without being engaged Ill do it Other than that, not my problem Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

 48. Clearly, the authors of this survey did not take into account the "redneck factor." When they put a big red "Zombieland" blanket over the entire southeastern portion of the USA map, it tells me that they know absolutely nothing about southern culture or mindset, and that they've never been hunting on the opening day of dove season in Alabama (shoot anything that moves-- or not moving).
