  7. I'm still reading and digesting all the info, but this is a good day for gun rights, even if it isn't an outright denial of overreach since they only kicked it back.  It seems the aftereffects of Heller and McDonald are felt in this one.  Some very valid logic was applied, and it's worth special attention that the Chief Judge of the Circuit who wrote the majority opinion was appointed by President Clinton in 1998.     Read the rest of the story here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/appeals-court-decision-casts-doubt-on-marylands-assault-weapons-ban/2016/02/04/8a234240-cb59-11e5-88ff-e2d1b4289c2f_story.html   And the full opinion here: http://www.ca4.uscourts.gov/Opinions/Published/141945.P.pdf     The politics/law geek inside me is giddy to dive into this one. ;)

It is perfect for exercising programming and logic, algorithms etc. All of which (the knowledge) can be applied in vast areas in life.   Why would you cast bullets if you can just buy them?!?!?!?   :koolaid:

  15. Any money exchange hands? If money exchanged hands, other than banning him on the forum (if site admins warrant it) your only recourse is probably legal action. If not, leave a negative feedback and an explanation for others to see if you deem it warrants it;  Me, on the buyer side I would keep looking, on the seller side I would relist and carry on.

  19. That is why I bought a FN FAL. During the Falklands war and thtoughout the 80's it was the rifle that seemed to be everywhere there was a shooting war going on. Then I watched the Wild Geese. So I bought my FN FAL in 1993 or 1994

  22. Personal opinion here... If you are going to carry Open or Concealed it is a responsibility to maintain a higher level of awareness. Condition Yellow. Its not that hard, but vigilance has to become a state of mind. A major part of that is not making yourself a target. My biggest problem with open carry is that by its nature you become a target for criminals, reporters, business owners, etc. It's not worth the bother. Carry concealed and that solves the problem. It's a shame that the guy was caught unaware of these two criminals, I have no way of knowing if he was doing his best to be vigilant against such an attack or not. Just my $0.02 on the open carry thing. Not an accusation against the victim.   Sadly many good people are denied the right to CCW.   I am a bit skeptical because this happened in VA... After the whole reciprocity thing and the attention to open carry in VA being a way around the loss of reciprocity this happens. Makes ya think...

  23. I just attended my second Oklahoma Run N Gun, and thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.  Details are here (http://www.okrunngun.com/), but the short version is that it's a 10k rifle/pistol match.  Scores are 50% run time and 50% shoot score, and you carry all of your gear throughout.  Here's a highlight video from my run this year to give you a better idea of what it's like:   https://youtu.be/_L7U8M0_1UI   I may have some land available that would work for an event such as this, but I would need a WHOLE LOT of volunteers and RO's to make it happen.  And although I've helped at a lot of different matches, I've never put on my own match start to finish.  So this is no small undertaking.   Not to mention there would have to be enough demand to go through all the trouble to put it on.  In Oklahoma they have 90 paying customers (they run them all in a single day - RO's run the day before) and sell out in a week or two.  Match fees there are $100 each.   Or if someone else has a better idea for a place/person to host this, I am 100% all on board to help however I can.  IF I can get landowner permission we would be starting from scratch with raw forest, so the land I have in mind would be the hardest place possible to do it.  The Oklahoma folks will help however they can, sharing insurance, legal, administration, etc. details and likely come out to shoot too.   What do you think???

  25. Mike Dresner (Lawenforcement Sales), Myself (DTV Tactical Innovations) and Fighting Sheep Dog are looking to put on a big machine gun shoot open to the public April 9th-10th at Windrock in Oliver Springs, TN. Its not named yet, or anything like that. I'm only putting this out early to try and see if anyone would like to see something special at this shoot, or has any recommendations that we do there.   We will be bringing a couple new toys out. I myself recently picked up a PKM and MIGHT have a M134 Minigun there as well for people to shoot (I'll know this weekend if I officially bought it or not). Thats just a start.   Whats everyone got? Anything you'd like to see, shoot or have any general recommendations?    There will be an official posting and all that good stuff when we get a name. I'm just trying to see what everyone would like to see/do there.

  27.   Since this came from the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, it applies to any state in their jurisdiction.  That covers Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.    Maryland is the only worry spot on that list, but like you said, their laws were horrible.  So, just the precedent alone of what this ruling says, basically tying the protections from Heller to "assault weapons," (and including magazines) gives us a whole new ballgame if this case law spreads.

  28.   MD is a pretty horrible state for guns.   You wouldn't want to drive thru it with anything decent that would be legal in TN.   Not sure about the specific district but anything being done for guns in that state is a welcome change no matter what area!

  29. The unspoken problem with the prohibition against college carry isn't specific to being unarmed on campus, though there is the obvious danger there, it's having to be unarmed while going to and from campus where plenty of crime takes place.  A lot of students live close by and walk to class to save money, and because parking on campus just sucks.  It's not uncommon at all to hear about someone getting assaulted on the streets around a campus, and I don't know any woman who would walk alone after the sun sets, they all use the buddy system or small groups.    I tried to do some volunteer work with Students for Concealed Carry, but had to give it up because of my class and work schedule.  Their a no joke grassroots group trying to make a difference.

  33. Hey Guys,   I have had a message offering assistance with the pups. I went ahead and created a YouCaring page for the pups.    https://www.youcaring.com/coop-liz-ressler-and-red-516225   If you want to make any sized donation to help with their vetting and care, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything raised over what they need medically and food wise will go to me helping rescue and pull more pups from the shelter and I will donate the rest to the rescue that helped with Daisy.    Thanks again!   Lacey

  38. I have seen two open carry clowns at WM as of late #1 had a full size XD sticking out of his right hip pocket in a pair of baggy pants ready to fall out. #2 was a guy all of 4.5 feet with a SOB Holster and a Sub Compact Glock  hanging out mid back carry. It would of took two seconds to remove it without him knowing it. I guess I have never seen a reason to open carry.

  43. If you get an under the arm type make sure you get one that has duel mag holster on opposite side.  It will help even out the weight and not feel so lop sided.  Also make sure it can fasten to belt so it does not flop around when moving about.  Truth be told, shoulder carry, while glamorized in miami vice, james bond etc.  is one of the least preferred methods of conceal carry.  I would tell you to buy a cheap one or borrow one to see if you like it before you spent real money on a good one.  Most find themselves collecting dust in a drawer.   I would agree that a chest carry rig (where concealment is not an issue) is a great option to carry for farm, salmon fishing in Alaska, remote hiking etc.  My 2 cents.

  44. If you are just going to carry one around the place take a look at Simply Rugged pancakes and one of their chest carry rigs. I carry several types from a single six to a FNL 45 in them on ATV, tractors and farm truck. Very handy.
