  4. I'm with the flyin' man Mike, Accurate #5 butters my bread for small handgun loads.  Meters smooth as water, very consistent and cost effective.      I would find data for any 95g cast bullet and work up from there looking for accuracy and flawless function.  With a coated bullet you can slide right on up the scale to jacketed data but I'd stay away from upper tier charge weights unless you do some very thorough testing.  It would probably be a waste anyway, you'll find all you're looking for before you get that high.     I load a 100g cast bullet for my runnin' buddy.  Its cast from water quenched WW"s so they're fairly hard.  I use Titegroup and they surprised me for penetration.  We wrapped a thick winter coat around three milk jugs of water.  Went through the coat and the first milk jug and just barely penetrated the second.  Thats sufficient for any two legged douche that needs help reconsidering his life choices.

  7. The greatest feat of gunsmithery was convincing people that Glocks are 1911s and need to be customized to work more better. I can see stippling and cutting the slide for a RDS. I can even see added slide serrations if the end user needs them (I love checkered front strap on a 1911). But some of this stuff just seems to be for the chicks dig it factor.....and by chicks I mean dudes at the range who worry about what pants Costas is wearing this week.   They get good reports in the gun mags I read so good luck with your purchase.

  8. My doctor has never ask if I own a gun because when I go to her office I am wearing one. She has a free standing office not connected to any medical facility and she has a complete female staff. She did tell me one day that everyone except her receptionist is armed. I asked her what she carried and she opened her doctors coat to give me a glance at her Kimber. She said it is none of the Governments business what her patients medical records are and she still practices Doctor/Patient Confidentiality. That is why I drive 55 miles one way to see her every 3 months for past 18 years......................

  9. Several years ago I purchased a new house in an upscale part of Chattanooga.  My house is very private with the driveway going up about 500 feet on a steep hill into the woods. The house cannot be seen from the main road, which is one of the reasons I bought it.  The area is very low crime, and I thought the property layout was ideal for not having to worry about thieves and such.  The driveway and woods are natural deterrents.  I felt so secure that I had never thought of buying a safe or putting in an alarm system.  I had guns, knives, watches, etc... unsecured all over the house.  For almost three years nothing happened... or at least that is what I thought.   My 80 year old mother lives with me, and every now and then she would tell me that she thought someone had been in the house.  She would say stuff like she thought someone had taken a shower or slept in my bed.  Nothing was missing from the house so I would always dismiss it as old age and/or paranoia.  A few weeks ago on a Saturday she told me that someone had been in her van and there was a bunch of stuff in it that wasn't hers.  I dismissed her concern by rationalizing that it was more than likely my nephew's stuff he left in it when he borrowed it a month ago.  She didn't buy my reasoning and was adamant that someone had been in her van.  She wanted to call the police to have them fingerprint or do all the cool CSI stuff to figure out who was in it.  I told her that since nothing was missing that they wouldn't do anything at all, so there is no point in calling them.  I also asked her why nothing was stolen from the house (she would keep a backup house key in her van).  In the end, nothing was done.   A couple of days had went by and I had pretty much forgotten about things until I came home from work that Monday and found my sister and nephew at my house.  When I walked in the house I was informed that the police were on their way.  When I inquired as to why, I was told that it was because someone had not only been in my mom's van, but they had borrowed it by hot-wiring it and brought it back.  The stuff they left in the van was drug paraphernalia (gram-size baggies, drug residue, etc...).  When the police arrived, they investigated my mom's van.  It was loaded with drugs and drug residue.  Whoever borrowed it was using it as a party van or drug dealing.  They were grinding up Xanax pills.  Wow, just wow.  Nobody in our family is into anything like that.  Heck, we don't know anybody that is into stuff like that.  The entire situation was baffling, but it was also very scary.   We have no idea how often this happened, nor did we know if those people had been in my house.  There was a house key in the van, and my mom would swear that someone had been in the house from time to time.  The baffling thing is nothing has been stolen.  I chalked that up to sheer luck and good fortune.  The very next day I took off from work.   I met with security people to install a monitored security system for my house, changed all the locks on my door, installed motion detected flood lights, installed 4 sets of blinds in my kitchen, bought a 1000 lb. Liberty Colonial-50 safe, and commanded that no keys will be left outside the house.    This entire situation has been so confusing, but as I said earlier, I feel very fortunate that I did not have anything stolen.  The other thing I will take from this situation is not to be so dismissive of my mother's concerns.  She still may be a little paranoid at times, but in this situation, she was correct in her observations.

  10. I thought some of you might be interested in seeing some images of a barrel swap for the FN FiveseveN. (I have a threaded barrel for the PS90 on the way.) This first shot has the two barrels side to side. I was curious to note that the spring rotation is opposite. The weight is exactly the same: 4.0 oz. This second shot shows a peculiar indentation (where the pen is pointing). Not sure the significance of it: The barrel is threaded 10 x 1mm RH, shown here without the thread protector: And then here with the thread protector mounted: It also comes with a adapter that converts it to a ½ x 28 RH for the Silencerco 22 Sparrow or Spectre II. Here it is unprotected. The knurled part on the barrel is what's used to attach the adapter, and then there's a matching thread protector (that is not shown in this shot, but is included): Here's the visible part of the barrel, installed: The barrel comes from EFK Fire Dragon (US Made).

  13. UPDATE : I just found a TP9 SA and was able to handle and fondle it. It wasn't the SF model that I want  but it sure gave me some nice idea and on how the SF will be. I gotta tell you guys it was awesome ! The trigger was just great and had a great reset. The fit and finsih looked very nice. It was $359 but was built like it would be a $500 pistol. A few weeks ago I was really wanting to get the Ruger American 9mm but was really let down after trying it out but this Canik TP9 SA is a different story. It is  SWEET . The only thing I dont like is the loaded chamber indicator but after looking at it , all I need to do is pop out a rollpin and it should come right out.  So all I got to do know is wait patiently until I find the SF model. I didnt even mind the top-sided decocker on this SA model. I am just really impressed with this pistol !

  24. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/01/25/critics-blast-massachusetts-citys-new-essay-rule-for-gun-carry-applicants.html     Published January 25, 2016 FoxNews.com Critics are blasting a Massachusetts city’s new law that they claim requires residents applying for a license to carry handguns to write “an essay” and pay upwards of $1,100 for training. The new laws take effect this week in Lowell, a city of 110,000 that lies 35 miles north of Boston. Pushed by Police Superintendent William Taylor and passed by the City Council, they require applicants for unrestricted handgun licenses to state in writing why they should receive such a license. Taylor, who was unavailable for comment on Monday, has sole discretion for approving or denying the applications. “It is absurd that people should have to write an essay to the town to explain why they should be able to exercise their constitutional rights,” said Jim Wallace, executive director of Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts. “We already have a very strict set of gun laws in the state, but this is way over the top.” “It is absurd that people should have to write an essay to the town to explain why they should be able to exercise their Constitutional rights.” - Jim Wallace, Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts. State law sets guidelines and requirements, but gives local chiefs of police broad discretion in implementation. While other cities and towns in Massachusetts have tough licensing regulations, Lowell’s new requirements, which also include taking a gun safety course over and above one already required by the state, prompted complaints at a public hearing last week. "I will never write an essay to get my rights as an American citizen," resident Dan Gannon told the City Council. The new policy was prompted in part by a year-old federal lawsuit brought by Commonwealth Second Amendment, a Bay State gun-rights group. Attorney David Jensen said the suit stems from Lowell’s history of denying qualified applicants permits to carry handguns without what the plaintiffs consider a legitimate rationale.

  25.   I was hoping not, I don't know many people who'd let a biscuit go to waste like that  Mines not too bad either. Although another couple rifles and I'll need to take out some things and utilize the other side for guns instead of using the shelves.

  32.   It was a special order NIB that the customer who ordered it backed out of buying. You won't have any trouble finding one in Clarksville given the fact Academy generally has some on hand. I'd just call around and find a local business and go take a look. Insofar as your parts concerns go any initial concerns are warranty related and replacement parts will be available. Any aftermarket parts and such are driven by the available market.

  33. Royal Range in Bellevue has some, not the SF tho. I have shot about 100 rounds through it for a review and found it to be very easy to shoot, honestly one of the nicest factory striker fired triggers. Cheap, seems to be reliable from what my buddies tell me. I would considering getting one as a stash box gun. Or a gun to keep somewhere that you don't really care about.

  34. I'll second the motion that people tend to hate on Glock "gunsmiths" on this forum. Put up a photo of a 4-5 thousand dollar 1911 and folks will wet themselves. Put half that money or less into a Glock and mostly all you get is rain on your parade. Agency is awefully pricey for you get, but the look is truely one of a kind. I wish they offered just the slide services as I already have RMR cuts on my guns and I prefer to do my own grip work. Which package are you having them do?

  36. Hmm, I wouldn't think the gas system would change POI, the bullet should be long gone before the action has any chance to effect it.  It's good you have an accurate round to go to, just make sure you stock up before Remington decides to shelf it.  And the deer you harvested gave you a passing grade already.

  39. I thought I educated my kids too by doing as ETP did only to find out later that kids will be kids. I ended up with a hole in my bathroom floor because I thought they'd comply with their training. The news even did a story with kids showing that even after just being given thorough instructions of what to do if you find a gun, (don't touch; go tell an adult), hidden cameras revealed that they ignored such instructions in favor of curiosity. My guns remain in the safe when my grandchildren - or any children - are visiting.

  40. My answer is "no I keep them with me". My wife went to the doctor a few years ago and stepped on the scale. Gave it a puzzled look, stepped off handed her gun and holster to the nurse and stepped back on. Said that looks better and collected her stuff and went on. The look on the nurses face was priceless.

  45. The reason i carry a rifle in my truck is because of what i have in my house. If i come home to someone in my home it is a safe assumption they have killed my dogs and have guns, perhaps even my guns. And without a long gun I am at a disadvantage.
