No, there is no legal obligation to engage an active shooter, pickpocket, or shoplifter. That said, if I have the chance to engage an active shooter I probably will.5 points

I had no problems with my Kimber Warrior but I saw these comments elsewhere and chuckled... "And with that the legendary reliability of the revolver was laid to rest." "The the reliability of a Taurus, with the looks of a Smith & Wesson, for three-times the price."5 points

Leave it to The Tennesseean to use black bear or wild hog as examples as to why this bill is needed. God forbid they use real threats such as crackhead thugs and ISIS sympathizers. http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2016/01/15/bill-allows-suits-over-gun-free-zone-incidents/78862948/4 points

Wideners has stopped local pick up also. I have bought quite a bit of reloading supplies from them but guess I won't anymore. No way am I paying shipping charges to somewhere that is 15 min from the house.4 points

I'm sure he had a legal right to carry but if I had been the cop, I would have tazed him anyway. That is why I'm not a cop.4 points

It is a damn shame how so many in this country worship at the alter of Hillary Clinton. She should be at the very least, brought up on charges of malfeasance and dereliction of duty while in office. Much more I'd like to say, but I get so caught up in emotion that I don't trust what I would say.4 points

Cops have a really tough job. Just show him the permit. Then, if you're curious, politely ask why you were asked to show your permit. Perhaps a scared customer freaked out. Maybe you did something unusual that caught the cop's eye. FYI, I was in Subway twice this week. I ordered a sandwich, paid, and left. No one asked about my gun because they didn't see it. It's kinda a no-brainer to me. I don't want to stand out or get delayed because someone freaked out over me carrying a gun. When I'm shopping or eating lunch, I don't want to make a political statement, I don't want to be the first guy shot because the wacko bad guy sees that I'm armed, I don't want to get in a hassle with cops. When I'm shopping, I shop. When I'm eating, I eat. When I want to make a political statement, I vote.4 points

Arguing with the police is simply stupid...it's a no-win situation. I can appreciate standing up for your Constitutionally Protected Rights... but there is a right way and a wrong way to do this. Polite and respectful interaction is much more likely to work in your favor, not kowtowing, but not being a jerk either. I don't envy the job cops have to do. This guy was a confrontational butt-head and the cops appeared to be to be acting quite professionally... I carry concealed for a reason. Don't want nor need the drama. Just my observation and viewpoint.4 points

Not only is a civilian not obligated to engage an active shooter, sworn LEOs do not have a mandated legal duty to do so. The US Supreme Court has ruled several times that there is no constitutionally required duty to protect individuals from harm. I have a similar personal philosophy as others here. First and foremost, I am going to protect myself and my family. If I can minimize my personal risk and save innocent lives by engaging, I may choose to do that.3 points

if republicans had candidates that people could get behind then they would get elected. The GOP is not losing because early voting is more convenient. And actually the white house is the place the republicans are losing, I think they have done well in the legislature getting elected.3 points

I admire people who mind their own business. The cop failed there. I also admire people who aren't assholes. The open carry guy failed there. Laws notwithstanding.3 points

I'm telling you, the II series of guns were nice. Again, my Warrior II as reference. Never a problem out of it. It's still serving its new owner very well. But here are a few more gems from Arfcom about the announcement... "They'll find a way to @#$% up a 150 year old design. It'll be pretty though." "Will it be an over priced, unreliable POS like all their other products?" "How in the hell do you make a revolver that won't run? I guess we'll see!" "I wish those schmoes would make something else. Like toilet flush handles. But they would probably mess that up too." "IS IT GONNA HAVE RAILS?!!" "@#$%. If you think they suck at 1911's you should buy a few of their rifles..." "Should I just throw my Python in the trash right now?" <--This guy! LOL "I'm just going to go ahead and sell all my Smiths so I can buy one....."3 points

I had a Kimber DW I bought from some dude for a song and a dance and I realized why. The chamber was super tight - much tighter than a regular 1911, only thing it would feed was steel case - for some damn reason. Called Kimber, told them its second hand but they wanted to see it - got it back with the chamber wider in 2 months. Started keyholing on me and grouping like straight turd - looked inside the barrel the muldoons smoothbored about an inch or so of rifling some f--ckin how. I called them, told them they were retards so they sent me a new barrel for "free" ....sent me the wrong damn barrel Bastards. Called them AGAIN. Laid into them this time, sent the pistol back AGAIN (and their POS "free" barrel)... Got the POS back 3 weeks later. They managed to scrape off the finish on my slide. Whatever. Now the barrel functions and isnt tore up. Go to the shoot it...the bushing decided to go full haji on me and exploded or something, just sheared off, damn spring plug goes flying off....cant find it. Call Kimber. REALLY PISSED NOW. These dudes told me I mustve broken it when stripping it. No replacement, REFUSED to believe something as cutting edge and high speed as a Kimber could fail...even though they machined a faulty barrel and have the logistics ability of a RETARD! Replaced the stuff, and sold it off for the same song and dance price. NEVER AGAIN DAMNIT! I wont touch a Kimber anymore. There, now Im triggered. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk3 points

Why did they have to specifically single out BLACK bears? #PolarBearLivesMatter.3 points

Why go down the false arrest and subsequent legal battle rabbit hole when a modicum of cooperation followed by polite discussion would accomplish the same thing without making gun owners look like a bunch of whiny pricks? Perhaps you've got plenty of time and money to pursue the "hammer of justice" method of education. I'd rather do it with 5 minutes of polite conversation.3 points

I would wrap in bubble wrap inside first box to fit if possible and then place in second box with more bubble wrap to fill excess space. I would ship Fed-ex or UPS if buyer is able to receive from them. I would insure for value of unit myself.2 points

Carrying a firearm in this state is a crime. Now they want legislation that holds a business owner responsible for not putting their stamp of approval on those the state deem worthy? Talk about a thug government. Sorry I can’t get onboard with that. And I’m pretty sure the courts won’t either.2 points

They are nothing more than another Internet retailer now.....I used them over others because they were local and I could pick up my order, saving me lots of money in hazmat and shipping. Looks like Mahoney's and Volunteer will be getting more of my business now.2 points

You do realize that the 2nd Admendment, or even the 1 Admendment, do not apply to private property or business, right? It only protects you from the government infringing those rights. You have no rights on private party except those allowed by the property owner.2 points

I was an election officer for about 10 years. My only agenda was to make sure those who were registered had the opportunity to vote. Anyone suggesting restricting the ability for a registered voter to cast a legitimate ballot is in my mind an enemy of the republic. As for buying the vote in some manner, both parties have been and probably still are guilty of this in some manner in some areas.2 points

There is something about being questioned for no reasonable suspicion that bothers me. What he was doing was perfectly legal. I am not in favor of being a jerk at any time but at the same time I should not have to explain to a cop that I am not doing anything illegal. When I worked in a grocery store if I suspected someone as a shoplifter and I stood in front of them and impeded their moving in the store I had made an arrest and was subject to a law suit. I was taught never to question/approach someone unless I witnessed them concealing merchandise. Cops have a tough job but we still should not have to explain ourselves for no apparent reason. I am not anti cop I am pro citizen.2 points

True. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't at least be spoken aloud....many times and very loud. Maybe, just maybe enough to wake up some people and derail the Clinton train.2 points

No, nor should you unless he's between you and door. If you can get your loved ones out, get them out. That's really selfish, but that's life. Doesn't mean if his head is wide open and an easy shot with no chance of collateral damage, I would NOT take the shot, just that I'm all about me and mine first. So should everyone else.2 points

Well, I began a list a long time ago of places I use to spend my hard earned money that went GUN BUSTER signage and I have not went back to any of them even though several have removed the signs. Once they realized they were costing them customers that is. Once I know their true feelings regarding my rights I will then express my rights by never doing business with them again. For every business with a sign posted, there are 10 stores that sell pretty much the same products without the signs...................jmho2 points

If the officers felt they were in the right, why didn't they arrest the guy? My guess is they knew they had no lawful reason to arrest the guy, and just got upset he questions their unlawful demands.2 points

yes it was a striper. I was pretty sure I'd gotten hung on the bottom for a few seconds. He barely hit it. I caught him on one of my grandfathers lures. I learned what I know about fishing with him, so that made it even more special. I've heard of fish several times larger than that coming from lakes around there. Nearing 80# I think on the record books.2 points

I think holding our police professionals to the higher standard of actually following the law themselves is not being a jack ass. I may agree that he may have been a little bit salty in his language but that is not against the law. I admire any citizen that stands up to authority when that authority is being exercised beyond the bounds of the law. Is that too much to expect? How others handle their contacts with LEO is up to them. I just will not condemn anyone who stands up for his rights when they are clearly being violated, how ever he sees fit to do so. I carry both openly and concealed. I see no reason to hide my rights under my shirt. It does no good in advancing the idea that good people carry guns too and can do so respectfully. I have never had anyone complain about my openly carrying, not even the 2 officers that clearly could see that I was armed. In fact, I have been thanked more than being negatively confronted for carrying. Most LEO are professional in the performance of their duties, some others are on a power trip an think they can treat people however the wish and need to be stood up to. Just my opinion.2 points

I saw the movie last night and it made me both angry and proud. The guys that were there, (Oz, Tig, and Tanto), said during an interview on Thursday that the movie accurately portrayed what happened. Big suprise that the station chief claimed that it did not. Gee, I wonder why? I was angry for the obvious reason, but proud that such men exist to fight on our side, My wife, (who's a pretty restrained person), fought the urge to stand up at the end of the movie and loudly proclaim that if you voted for Obama you were partly responsible for what happened, and if you vote for Hillary then you'll get more of that crap!2 points

Voting is already messed up enough with long waiting lines. It's amazing to me that anyone waits until voting day to vote. If you haven't made up your mind a month before the election, you're probably too dumb to vote.2 points

yanno, i must have missed it. Where is their any evidence that this is a PC kind of deal. Companies change or update their brand all the time. Seems to me people are assuming that they caved to something here. Where is that evidence? Maybe they wanted to look more up to date???? I dunno2 points

I'm the biggest pro 2nd Amendment guy you will find, but more than that I am pro Liberty, period. The 2nd Amendment doesn't trump property owners rights. If I don't like guns, I should be able to keep you from bringing them on my private property. And being a business open to the public does not exclude me from private property owners rights. Now, that being said, it should be a simple trespassing charge after asking you to leave and you refuse, no more. Maybe for the sake of the safety of patrons, have a sign along the lines of, no weapons permitted, enter at your own risk. I am not willing to give up property owners rights in exchange for 2A rights, it doesn't work like that. If you are on property that another man owns, you go by his rules plain and simple.2 points

If manufacturers wanted to make a real game changer, they'd focus less on developing new platforms and more on making a quality product in lines they already are tooled for. Seems like half the new guns you read about have problems.2 points

I am 100% in favor of legal OC, I'm also 100% against acting like a donkey's rear while doing it. I generally prefer to OC while hiking, fishing, etc. generally in a remote outdoor setting where I'm not going to come into contact with many people. There is no need in getting the sheep all riled up no matter how much fun it can be. I think the biggest issue responsible gun owners face on the subject of OC is the lack of discretion by most all of the people who OC in public places. If this opinion offends you then suck it up butter cup.2 points

I get the idea of exercising your rights. I don't get the idea of being a whiny dick about it, especially to cops. They're like fish on a hook. You dangled the bait, they bit on it, and the harder you reel, the harder they fight back. You're never going to win the "reasonable suspicion" argument with a cop. Be nice. Show them your ID. Then show the open carry law that you've got bookmarked on your phone for just this sort of occasion. Explain politely. Offer to talk to their boss and explain it to the whole department. Be nice.2 points

Open carry is not my first choice but the LEOs should be following the laws about it.2 points
