  3. Calm down, it's not a gun. She said it's my job to buy the weapons....that said, she provided something to carry them in! It's a Plano Tactical 108031 AW Extra Large Pistol Case. She got it for right at $75. Seems to be designed to turn 2 pistols in alternating fashion (2 on top layer and 2 on bottom layer). But I'm going to pick up another slim piece of foam and make one layer for magazines/accessories and the other for pistols. Well, that's where I'm at anyway. I only have a couple of pictures but it's just because I was excited to show it off. I'll take a few more detailed pictures when the girls aren't trying to go to sleep as the dogs bark because I'm up making noise. This thing is BIG! It has 4 heavy dual stage locking latches, two of which lock. They provide 2 keys of course. It also has padlock tabs for airline compliance. The o-ring seems pretty well made and of decent thickness. There are two pluck-able layers of high density foam, and they are about 2 inches thick each I believe. In the bottom of the case there is a smaller and thinner piece of removable foam that fits the section of the case that is of a smaller than OAD of the case. There is also a pressure relief valve in the back of the case wall. What I did may not be what everyone does, but I plucked out the size per pistol first. Then the piece I removed, I cut in half with my knife and re-inserted back into the hole. I did that to decrease the distance from the foam each pistol laid on and the one that pressed on the top of it when closing the lid. I doubt very seriously that a little bouncing in between foam would "hurt" anything, but it's what I thought would work better. I'm still in thinking mode about how I'll finish it off. I don't want to rush and then come up with a better plan next week. All in all it is a very nice case and I'm very happy with it. See? I told you I was excited!

  4. Nice!  Looks like it could hold 6 pistols easily, maybe 12 if you use layers.  Which means, of course, that since she bought you such a nice case, you're obligated to fill it up.  :)

  7. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/01/15/growing-number-police-chiefs-sheriffs-join-call-to-arms.html?intcmp=hpbt2   Published January 15, 2016 FoxNews.com It's Florida Sheriff Grady Judd's duty to protect the citizens of Polk County -- but he figures it's their job, too. One of a growing number of rural and big-city law enforcement officials who openly encourages responsible gun ownership, Judd believes guns allow citizens to defend themselves when police cannot. “If you are foolish enough to break into someone’s home, you can expect to be shot in Polk County,” Judd said in a statement after a homeowner shot a would-be home invader earlier this month. “It’s more important to have a gun in your hand than a cop on the phone." Such full-throated embrace of the Second Amendment as a crime-fighting tool isn't confined to red states like Florida. “I want as many law-abiding citizens to arm themselves in this county as we can get." - Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke One California police chief is backing teachers in his district packing heat. Detroit Police Chief James Craig has been a leader in urging his community to arm itself. A Maryland sheriff is working with the state’s general assembly to try to make it easier for citizens to obtain handgun permits. In the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence’s most recent ranking of states with the strongest gun laws, California (1), Maryland (4) and Michigan (15) ranked near the top of the pack. Some gun rights advocates say terror attacks at home and abroad have contributed to a change in attitudes about gun ownership among community members and authorities, even in locales historically hostile towards the Second Amendment. “That has helped play into it, and there’s no doubt the active shooter scenario has, too,” said Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation. “You’re seeing people say, ‘How do you respond?’”

  21.  My name is David. I'm retired, and live in Chattanooga.  U.S.N. Vietnam veteran. Sold firearms at a local store when I first returned home from the Navy. That was over 40 years ago and I have not held a firearm since, until my recent purchase. I am in the process of obtaining my concealed carry permit.  I am happy to be a member of TGO, and hope to  profit from the knowledge of other members since I've been "out of the loop" for so long.

  24. Gotta love Sheriff Judd for the the statement he gave to the press after his SWAT team shot a guy on the run that had shot one of his deputies during a traffic stop. The Swat team Swiss cheesed the guy with 68 countable wounds. When Sheriff Judd was asked why they shot the guy 68 times he replied, "that's all the bullets they had.".

  25. Wasn't sure what section to post this in but wanted to share my experience. For those of you not familiar, QC10 makes AR pistol caliber parts. Their bolts, what would be the BCG in a normal AR have a removable weight in the rear of them that is held in by a .25" roll pin. While out shooting last Saturday my 9mm AR the bolt basically seized in the upper. I was able to remove the bolt and saw that this roll pin had walked out and the roll pin was pressing into the side of the upper receiver causing it to bind. Annoyed to say the least, I shot them an email explaining what happened and that I felt like for the premium price I paid I should have received a premium product, respectfully of course. Monday morning I not only got a return email, but a phone call. We talked the problem out and decided to just try a new roll pin before they replace the entire bolt, a pretty spendy piece compared to normal BCG's. I installed the new roll pin and I've since ran around 150 rounds through the weapon with no trouble. I emailed them to follow up and let them know that it had worked, only to receive a phone call a few minutes later thanking me for my patience and apologizing that it happened. Very cool if you ask me. Cliff notes: I had a problem. QC10 not only emailed me, but called me to straighten it out. Then called again after it was fixed to apologize and thank me for my patience. Thumbs up

  26. Posted on Facebook. I love this guy.   https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/photos/a.151342491542569.29994.116999698310182/1115674178442724/?type=3&fref=nf   Hello Friends I’ve just received a request from The White House! On behalf of The President, I’ve been asked to share some talking points directly with each one of you, regarding the need to expand background checks on those citizens who wish to purchase a gun! Just kidding. For some reason, I was not among those celebrities selected to assist The White House in this endeavor. I’ve since recovered from my initial disappointment, and identified three possible explanations for the oversight. 1. The White House did not ask for my assistance, because they do not believe I’m famous enough to persuade anyone of anything. 2. The White House did not ask for my assistance, because they do not believe I would tweet out someone else’s words and claim them as my own. 3. The White House did not ask for my assistance, because they do not believe I support background checks. With respect to #1, The White House is correct. My powers of persuasion, like my celebrity, are limited. Regarding #2, The White House is correct again. I would never post someone else’s talking points as if they were my own. My own particular brand of hubris requires me to use my own words, which is probably why everyone in my office has developed a permanent facial tick. As for #3 though, The White House would be mistaken to assume that I oppose background checks on gun purchases. I do not. I’m just skeptical that expanding a broken system is the best way to keep guns away from bad guys and lunatics. Currently, thousands of people deemed mentally incompetent by the courts are NOT registered in our National Check System. That’s insane, if you’ll pardon the irony, in part because it’s so easily correctible. Likewise, The ATF says that most states report less than 80% of their felony convictions to the national system. As a result, nearly 7 million convicted felons are not currently registered. Is it any surprise that nearly every mass killer in recent memory passed a background check? Seems to me, our current system is only as good as the records in it, and right now, those records are laughably incomplete. But even more troubling are the tens of thousands of people who ARE in the system, that keep trying to buy guns illegally with absolutely no consequence. Lying on your application to purchase a firearm is a federal offense, but very few are prosecuted for doing so. According to Politico, the Feds have prosecuted just 1.5% of all those individuals who have attempted to purchase a gun illegally. If my math is correct, that means 98.5% of people who are NOT allowed to own a gun, have not been prosecuted for trying to buy one. Maybe it's a manpower problem? Maybe it's a resource problem? But whatever the reason, many thousands of individuals who try to purchase a gun illegally are allowed to keep on trying. Many eventually succeed, and then use that gun in the commission of a crime. This strikes me a serious problem. And yet, I’ve received no tweets from my favorite action heroes, asking me to support an effort to fix the system we have. Why is that? To be clear, I’m not a member of The NRA. Last time I joined a club it was The Boy Scouts, and that was a long time ago. But from what I can tell, the NRA is not the reason that so many criminals and lunatics are able to buy guns today. Nor do they appear to oppose the kind of overhaul that would give us a more effective check system. In fact, wasn’t it The NRA that demanded background checks back in the mid-nineties, the moment the technology was first made available? Regardless, we now possess the technology to update and maintain an accurate data base of felons, lunatics, gang members, terrorists, B-list celebrities, and other unsavory types that we can all agree should never be allowed to own a weapon. We also possess the ability to identify and prosecute anyone who attempts to buy a gun illegally. But if we don't have the resources or the commitment to administer and enforce the system we have, why in the world would we want to make it bigger? ‪#‎When‬ there’s a hole in your net, you don’t need a bigger net; you need a smaller hole. #When your foundation is shaky, you don’t keep building on top of it, you knock it down and start over. Should The White House ever find itself in need of a tweet in support of that approach, please help yourself to either of the above. But if our elected officials are going to rely on actors and comedians to advance their political agendas, let’s not limit them to 140 characters or a list of pre-approved talking points. Seriously, where’s the fun in that? In the name of authenticity, let’s encourage our celebrities to use their own words. Hey - it seems to be working for Trump… Mike

  27. Eh, we'll keep it tame for the general public. I've seen even some of the more hardened members here log into chat, take one look at the conversation and log right back out  When we start debating the merits of sex lubes as casing lube based on price per weight, consistency and taste, just keep in mind casing lube tastes terrible and will ruin your sandwich or cigarette if it gets on your hands and you forget while multitasking...

  29. I use a Lee hand press to decap. The hand press is only 30-something dollars on Amazon and the die is around $15.00 or so. Plus, for about the same price as these dedicated decapping devices, you can having a press that can be used for other things as well. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  31. I'll just say that so far I've put maybe 300 rounds through the 3 that I have between my AR and pistol. No malfunctions or anything, added bonus of having enough floor plate pressure to actuate my BHO. I figured they would be good because their AR mags are good to go as well

  41. Or perhaps let members vote them off, kind of like Survivor. Let the staff review any permanent bans before it is permanent. Or perhaps let members vote to give someone 24 hours to cool off if things are going bad, kind of like a way to let his fellow members protect them from themselves.   Would add a unique dimension to the board that is no where else on the internet.

  45. No, this is actually true. Russian guns were designed to eat everything from .22LR to small artillery shells without the pesky need to swap barrels. They also never, ever, ever, ever, never ever jam. I once saw YouTube video of a Spetznatz Soyuz door gunner who filled his AK47 barrel and chamber with Quik-Crete, let it set for 3 days, then successfully fired a magazine on full auto from it, underwater, upside down, with no hands. It was on the Internet so you know it's true.

  46. Personally I think TGO has beat this into the ground.  I'm also pretty sure that were I him, I wouldn't necessarily want my info out there on the Internet.  I'm not e-famous the way he is, but it's been done to me because of TGO and it really pissed me off.   Not that the information about either of us isn't readily accessible to the people who want to dig, but when people on TGO, blogs, Facebook and other social outlets just beat the issue to death, it does nothing BUT draw more attention to it.  You guys might as well light up a spotlight and swing it on his house at this point, because that's effectively what all of these threads are doing.
