Update: Took the pistol to the range today. It ran perfect. Tried WWB, Remington UMC, Silver Bear, Freedom Munitions fmj, and Freedom Munitions loaded with the Hornady XTP bullet. Everything cycled fine and my wife's groups are getting smaller too. I was not happy to have to send the gun in, but it seems like it is good to go now and the turn around time was really fast.6 points

I thought I would post some pictures of my latest projects. That's like saying you want to switch to Catholicism because you want a religion where it's ok to drink, but no other reason. It's offensive to Catholics, and equally offensive to us who like our Glocks. :)3 points

Please don't start raving about how beautiful, accurate and smooth CZ pistols are. CZ's are highly sought-after as it is, and a lot of models don't stay on the market for long, and if you miss your chance, you're back on the waiting list. If you get more people excited about CZ's now, it will just get worse for us! Keep moving on. Nothing to see here. Just heavy steel pistols, nothing special. Move on. Look there, new Glocks! Just kidding. Glad you're enjoying it! I love my CZ's, and want more. It's the CZ fever! :)3 points

I just heard that Rock Star, David Bowie, died. He was definitely an odd guy, but seemed to mellow out and tone it down as he got older. He put out some good music though.2 points

I truly hope this fails again. No more precedents regarding federal gun control of any kind should be set. A positive one is only a heartbeat different from its opposite. The only gun action I'm in favor of would involve repeal, not addition. - OS2 points

Why don't they make all signs on private property have force of law? I'd really like to see someone get arrested and fined $500 for having a candy bar past a "No Food or Drink" sign. If its good for one sign, why isn't it good for all signs?2 points
-
No, this is actually true. Russian guns were designed to eat everything from .22LR to small artillery shells without the pesky need to swap barrels. They also never, ever, ever, ever, never ever jam. I once saw YouTube video of a Spetznatz Soyuz door gunner who filled his AK47 barrel and chamber with Quik-Crete, let it set for 3 days, then successfully fired a magazine on full auto from it, underwater, upside down, with no hands. It was on the Internet so you know it's true.2 points

IMO signs should have no teeth legally. If someone carries past a sign and doesn't leave when asked, trespassing laws would apply.2 points

Getting old is the reason I shoot the Benelli M2 with the Comfort Grip stock a lot more nowadays. :P2 points

I've reached the point where I just shoot 223 now in long guns, but still like to shoot my 1911 45's. I just turned 69 last year and it seams like over night, getting old catches up with you. :confused:2 points

You got it figured out. They can't do it by brute force. That's a really good way to get your ass kicked. The secret to dealing with millions of heavily armed rednecks... Don't be a dick.2 points

Personally I think TGO has beat this into the ground. I'm also pretty sure that were I him, I wouldn't necessarily want my info out there on the Internet. I'm not e-famous the way he is, but it's been done to me because of TGO and it really pissed me off. Not that the information about either of us isn't readily accessible to the people who want to dig, but when people on TGO, blogs, Facebook and other social outlets just beat the issue to death, it does nothing BUT draw more attention to it. You guys might as well light up a spotlight and swing it on his house at this point, because that's effectively what all of these threads are doing.2 points

Or you could just remove the section entirely because trespass law already covers this.2 points

As promised, I made it out to the range this weekend and froze my ass off and got some trigger time for the first time in 2 months. Didn't do too bad at all, and my reloads didn't go boom on me (powder check die FTW!). If you didn't catch my Steal of the Century - I was able to get a CZ97B and 3 mags for the equivalent of $275 - and contrary to popular belief it wasn't booby trapped, or defective. Ergonomics - Frame: - I have decently small hands for a dude, I struggle to have a good grip on my Glock 21 Gen 4 with no back straps, even though it is a double stack, the CZ-97B with wood grips is pretty slim (1.253" vs 1.412" on the Glock 21 Gen 4). - The grip angle is between a Glock and a Sig - it just points very well and feels great in the hand, along with a very aggressive high beavertail to get up on the bore axis and not worry about slide/hammer bite. - The trigger guard has a very sleek undercut as to not break your knuckles and the trigger guard itself is spacious to shoot with gloves (I had to, it was 10 degrees with wind chill). - The weight of the frame is very balanced, for an all-metal gun it does not feel like you are hefting a warhammer. - The safety and slide lock/release are very big and well pronounced - but not to give your support hand any issues. The safety is easily manipulated with the thumb - but the slide release is a bit to far to reach with your firing hand comfortably, the tip of my thumb can hit it but I can't produced the force to quickly release it; bigger handed shooters will not have this problem. - The magazine release, I felt it is a bit on the small side, again I have small hands, but it does not protrude far enough to manipulate easily, especially with gloves. - The slide has standard serrations on the rear, a lot more plentiful and aggressive than a Glock and Sig - so it should not give anyone an issue. Ergonomics - Trigger: I am a striker-fired/SAO hammer fired (1911s) guy until I traded for 2 Sigs - and those DA pulls are VERY good. However - the CZ's is better on DA. It is not stagy at all, even given the fact that the hammer can be half-cocked. It has a very beefy (but not nasty looking) smooth faced stainless trigger - and whether you pull with the tip of your finger, or the first knuckle - it fits well and does not slip. I prefer to shoot Single Action, and that break is as crisp as can be. I cannot discern a difference between the SA on a Sig, or CZ - but the CZ has a much more tactile and audible reset than my P220 or P238 do. Shooting - Feel and Accuracy: Needless to say, being an all-metal handgun, it absorbs the recoil (what recoil there is) of the .45ACP - it makes follow up shots SO much nicer than say on my Glock 21. Partnered with the high 3-dot night sights my CZ97 has, target acquistion was very easy. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and it (looks) like the front sight is adjustable for drift/windage. I was shooting 230gr FMJ Blazer, Fiocchi and Winchester White Box and grouping about 2" at 7 yds. Then with my 200gr plated hand loads (Win LPs, 5.7gr Bullseye) I was grouping 1" at 7 yds. I am not the best shot, but the CZ97 makes me seem better than what I am. Other Features: There is a small stainless pin that pops up on top of the frame to serve as a loaded chamber indicator, which is very subtle. The grips can be interchanged, and have some sort of springs on the inside to keep the magazine from wobbling around. The feedramp is very polished and steep to assist with chambering. The hammer is skeletonized and serrated - and can be carried in a half-cock position to take a little uptake out of the DA. I am not the best at reviewing guns - if anyone has any questions or would like to shoot it, just let me know. I will try to get some pictures up when I am able.1 point

Well that's certainly good advice. I'll call a few more numbers in the morning and try to get someone higher up the chain to acknowledge that the DMV clowns are wrong and hopefully send that in email form or something else that can be printed off and taken in. They've very recently moved to the state so he's got all of his documentation out from the drivers license switch over. Hopefully they'll allow us to speak to a supervisor without having to ask if an attorney is needed but I suppose the attorney is the next play if they continue to play "hide the supervisor" or playing dumb. I googled several different DMV locations today and not a single one had a review rating of more than 1.7 so I guess it'd be foolish to walk in expecting good service. Thanks to you and everyone else for the tips, hopefully it'll go smoothly but one of us will update.1 point

I'd say you're a lucky man. When I got home with my Christmas presents (CZ75 and 2075), she picked up the RAMI and said: "Oooh, this one is cute. Can I have it?" :doh:1 point

The slide release is like that on all the CZ's I think. On my 75 I've just started hitting the slide release with my support hand, I can do it with shooting but it's just not as easy.1 point

I used to have one that the finish was almost a carbonia blue color. Man, that was a great pistol. But, for ten rounds, it was just too big and heavy, for me. Ten rounds come in smaller, lighter packages. Enjoy it! I know it's a really excellent .45. And at that price... you should be ashamed... lol!1 point

That is what drew me to communications coming from EOD - the dynamics are always pretty challenging but really rewarding. Honestly, I feel it is easier doing RSPs on 107s than it is re configuring a switch sometimes... The Army is like a jaded ex-girlfriend that tries to convince you staying with/going back to her is the best thing and that your life will end if you break up with her. Hell - everywhere I have been, be it an EOD unit, SOF unit, the 101st, 10th MTN, I have met higher level staff officers and Senior NCOs I would not trust to mop up a McDonalds bathroom, let alone be in control over the lives of a few hundred dudes...1 point

Oh Shoot, this is my brother in law that's just moved to tn. I was hoping you would see this and have someone in mind. I talked to a "generic phone jockey" a the Homeland Security office in Nashville but I knew when I was have to inform her of the law and regs as well as where they're located on their website, I was wasting my time. All she had to say was that if he had the "permanent resident I-551" that the folks at the dmv were wrong in their declining him the permit. I don't suffer idiots very well and that, in my experience" is what you are going to deal with during a trip to the dmv. We'll give Lisa Knight a call tomorrow and see what she has to say. Hopefully some others with first hand experience with this particular issue will chime in.1 point

FWIW, these two posts from ARFCOM HomeTown section in Dec, assuming "Bob" is the main smith? "Bob is setting up shop at Knoxville Tactical in Powel. The were moving in his machines just before Thanksgiving. He is supposed to be up & running mid-December or so." "Bob Howard has moved to Knoxville Tactical. I was fortunate enough to find him there. Knox Tac will be ready to roll with any of your gun smithing needs as soon as the electrician connects the necessary wiring to the lathes and machinery. They are also equipped to Ceracoat, as well. BTW, Knox Tac is having a Glock Days sale this weekend (started today 12/4/15), with a Glock representative in the store tomorrow and some really good deals!" - OS1 point

I don't agree. I don't think anything will hold the Federal government or Executive actions back right now as it is, precedent or not. In other words.. I don't think having this precedent will embolden or empower anyone to do anything they won't already do.1 point

To me that just keeps things murky. This is a simple issue. Repeal 39-17-1359 in its entirety and be done with it. Trespassing laws still apply if asked to leave.1 point

It won't happen. Do you realize how much revenue TWRA would lose if they dropped the muzzleloader tags? I like it the way it is. I don't bow hunt, and I still get a chance to get in the woods before it looks like a home U.T. football game.1 point

The G34 is a great range gun. I absolutely love mine. And you should give some thought to the G24. It's the best shooting 40 caliber I've ever shot. And it's the gun responsible for me staying with 40 for a while longer. Edit/Add on Damn, the pics of the G40 I just looked at are great! I can't afford to get into another just now, but I'll say the 20 SF I bought recently sure is comfortable. I just need to get a few boxes of 10mm and shoot it now. lol1 point

A hard decision on these buddy. But I think I'll go with the stonewashed blade on this one. It just looks awesome to me. I'll get some money headed your way soon. as always, Thanks for all this work for me and all of us here. Even if you are breaking me. lol1 point

Really? I had a past neighbor get all fired up over my shooting a Gammo air rifle in my back yard. Even threatened to call the local police station because I had a rifle out in public. All over shooting pellets into a cardboard box stuffed with old phone books as backing. Nothing ever came of it, and the "neighbor" moved away. Guess I was just too threatening to live by. Now if one more would move, I'd be very happy. He's a flaming anti gun, anti Republican, anti conservative, card carrying believer in Al Gore and the like. And thinks Obama and Hillary are the best thing in the last 100 years. He's not even visited the house since I had a Bush yard sign up years ago. Oh...and LOVES our new mayor, Ms Barry.1 point

He hired SRV to tour and record with him for a little while. Stevie is playing guitar in "let's dance" but any SRV fan would already know that. Didn't care for much of his music but he had fantastic taste in guitarists.1 point

I'm 60 now, and have never liked heavy recoil, rifle or handgun, causes me to flinch after just a few rounds. I avoid shotguns as well. I shoot +P in my 357 when I do shoot it, and 223 is enough for me, maybe 243. Getting older is not for sissies. LOL1 point

If they had wanted to test it in court, would have already done it. Besides existing vids, simply send agents to hang around shooting ranges with small cams, wouldn't take long. The last time they tried to prosecute a narrow decision like this, (Thompson Decision) they lost a lot of prosecutorial power, both with the pistol/rifle/pistol and "possessive construction" issues. It's also noteworthy that no one has ever been convicted of having a VFG on a handgun either. Seems they're content to just let their tradition of gray intimidation suffice. - OS1 point

The fine is the same for carrying past a sign on a government building just like carrying past a sign on private property. Both are a misdemeanor 500 dollar fine. You can carry in state and local government buildings if there is not a sign. We just need to get this sign criminal charge removed during this legislative session. Any bill in the works?1 point
