Personally I think TGO has beat this into the ground. I'm also pretty sure that were I him, I wouldn't necessarily want my info out there on the Internet. I'm not e-famous the way he is, but it's been done to me because of TGO and it really pissed me off. Not that the information about either of us isn't readily accessible to the people who want to dig, but when people on TGO, blogs, Facebook and other social outlets just beat the issue to death, it does nothing BUT draw more attention to it. You guys might as well light up a spotlight and swing it on his house at this point, because that's effectively what all of these threads are doing.11 points

I bought a 40 because of advice I was given in 2004 to carry what the cops carry, because of the case of Harold Fish (Google it if you don't know). Since then I have had many friends give me MANY MANY rounds of 40 ammo. Because I have free ammo, I have several .40s. I have Glock 22, 23, 27. Sig p229 and its little brother p224. I enjoy shooting them all. My Sig 229 was originally a .357 sig, but I went to a gun show to get a barrel for .40 and ended up trading for a new Sig 229 Elite 40 for less than the cost of the .40 barrel. 357 sig just costs too much for me to shoot proficiently. I really feel it is a better round, but being prepared and well trained is more important than having the best round. I have no issue with the round or the weapons I fire it from. I kind of chuckle when people call it a trade off, since ALL weapons and ALL rounds are a trade off. I also chuckle when people say that the new technology 9 mm is better than old .40. Guess what? When they improved the 9, they improved the 40. I know that all of the defensive calibers of handgun ammo perform so similarly that which I choose is functionally meaningless. Since I have so much 40 and so many 40 weapons, I will not be changing any time soon, if ever. and feel no need to do so. These are my opinions and are not intended to incite ANY debate. Just telling why I do what I do on a forum intended to do so.3 points

There's also Topless in Tennessee based out of Dickson that seems to be doing things right. I'll add them to the Mule Town Jeepers that Glowdot recommended earlier. The group that torpedoed Tennessee Jeeps is Jeeps and Wrenches. I'm sure it has grown beyond the core group that started it now and some of their members are fine folks, but that core group was some of the nastiest, most spiteful, back-stabbing bunch of people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. They ruined my enjoyment of the "sport" are one of the reasons why I no longer have Jeep of any kind. I sank a lot of time and money into the local Jeep community and for a while there we were doing some really big, well organized things, and then that group got greedy, selfish and ruined the whole thing. There's a few of their founding members that I'd seriously punch in the face if I saw again anytime soon because I firmly believe that people shouldn't be afforded free-range to be nasty and hateful the way they were.3 points

Again I will say that being proficient with whatever platform and round you choose (assuming we are talking about typical defensive rounds (9mm, 40,.357 sig, 45 ACP, .38 special, .357 Magnum) is more important than WHICH of those rounds you choose,2 points

Prices will not keep me away. There are several things to consider besides just the price per hour. I live about 8 minutes from here. If I want to shoot outside for free or at a cheap range I am at a minimum 45mins to an hour away. Each way. I would much rather pay for a short shooting session rather than take 2.5-3 hrs when i have other things to do. I will probably also use the rifle range to sight in my rifles when I need to. The convenience for me is worth the money. Plus it is a lot easier to get my wife to go to a range to shoot verse going out in the woods. :2cents:2 points

Darn you Willis68, you've made my knife tastes go up in dollar amount. Anyway a Brous Blades VR-71 found it's way home with me tonight. It's not a spring assist but you would never be able to tell with how smooth the blades opens. You just have to apply a little bit of pressure to the flipper and it's open, just incredibly smooth. Sam, be aware that you will need different adapters for a fixed barrel gun (like the mp5) and a tilt barrel gun (like most semi-auto handguns). Many suppressor a only come with a recoil booster adapter (for tilt barrel guns). You would have to buy an adapter for the fixed barrel gun. See this blog entry that explains adapters: http://blog.silencershop.com/mounting-pistolcaliber-suppressors/ I agree with the above that buying online doesn't save that much money and may take a slight bit longer. If a local shop has the model you want in stock for a similar price, probably a good idea to buy it local.1 point

I love the .357 Sig round, but I gave it up when I got tired of spending more $$ every time I went to the range. I personally believe(my opinion) that the .357 sig offers the best advantages of all the defensive rounds, but I personally feel that the increased training time that I get from shooting 40 will benefit me more than shooting the better round, less frequently. My favorite platform for the .357 Sig is the Sig 229 Elite with the SRT trigger. It is also coincidentally my favorite platform for 40 and 9mm. I love that weapon. I just got the Sig Extreme p224 in 40. I love that little guy, too.1 point

Here are a few more thoughts. I didn't really communicate my message well yesterday with my first post on this thread yesterday. I really meant to say that I feel sure that Runco got the idea after a couple of folks said that he shouldn't have posted Hickock45s name and that further agreement wasn't needed. I'm guessing that we are all correct to various degrees. I get the feel that the success of the videos, having the ability to profit from the and becoming a public figure is a new experience for him. I'm about two years in with my business and the way I position us in the marketplace has changed and evolved a lot. As with anything a person hasn't experienced before, there are mistakes, changes in direction, etc.... As the videos have grown, he's become somewhat famous. Think about Hollywood and Nashville's country music. Many, many folks want to hit the big time. A few do who then come to live in a fish bowl where anything they do is exposed to the public. They don't like it, though it comes with the territory. So, here is where I am now. I won't use his name because he would rather that folks don't. I'm happy for him that his videos have done well. I will be the first to say that there is nothing bad whatever about him making profit from the videos. I'm also happy for him to have this new adventure, which can probably be fun, exciting, invigorating, confusing, frustrating, etc.... all at the same time.1 point

Nothing new, just paraphrased for those that didn't already know the law ... Correct, although those same guys have been in violation of the law for a long time ... If by "rights", you mean the ability to break the law with impunity, then yes. I'll not disagree if you make an argument against the GCA of 1968, which is where the vast majority of these laws date from, but as of now, they are in fact, the law ...1 point

I'm still trying to figure out what he accomplished AT ALL. Well, except for convincing all the libtards that he is doing anything against guns. Best I can tell, the ATF guidance on selling guns is the same that it has always been. I know Gwyneth Paltrow wants to blow him over the whole thing. But, I just ain't feelin' it. What did he really do except bullshit his followers some more?1 point

He may be a public figure, but I think Hickok45 wants to be known by the gun community and professionally as Hickok45 for branding if nothing else. His admitting to having a registered trademark on the name "Hickock45" leads me to that conclusion. That said, it's like a pro wrestler...you know them by their stage name, but their real names are public info as well these days. I doubt he goes around correcting people who use his given name in public ("call me Hickok45!"). https://www.everipedia.com/gregkinman3/ I'm wondering if he did this, or some overzealous fans did on his behalf. Hickock45 doesn't strike me as wanting to branch out beyond YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter...so I could believe he's never even heard of this site.1 point

PDs won't issue "smart guns". There is a reason. Even 50 years from now the technology won't be reliable enough to bet your life on. People who talk of "smart guns" being a viable solution are the same people who say, "shoot them in the leg rather than shoot to kill." These are the people who watch too many movies and believe it's reality; stupid people. Their opinions don't matter any more than the opinions of a toddler.1 point

Thanks and all, but 'fraid no sage advice here.;) You've got a thorny situation where several areas of the law seem to butt heads, at least to some degree. You've got 39-17-1314, which allows a city or county to regulate "The discharge of firearms within the boundaries of the applicable city, county, town, municipality or metropolitan government, except when and where the discharge of a firearm is expressly authorized or permitted by state law" And also allows the regulation of "the location of a sport shooting range, except as otherwise provided in §§ 39-17-316 and 13-3-412" But of course those two statues don't involve hunting. Then you've got the AG's opinion from way back, two AGs ago, regarding hunting law being overarching, but as mentioned, that's not settled law or anything. Knoxville's is even tighter, though it doesn't mention archery (but might be somewhere else): "Discharge of firearms. It shall be unlawful for any person, except such as may be authorized by law, to discharge or fire any firearms within the city. Discharge of air guns, spring guns, etc. It shall further be unlawful for any person to fire or discharge any air gun or air pistol, spring gun or spring pistol, or other device or firearm which is calculated or intended to propel or project a bullet, pellet, air or similar projectile, within the city." However, Knoxville statue does have this exception regarding hunting: "Exception. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this section or any other provisions of this Code, nothing in this section is intended to prohibit the discharge or firing of any firearms by anyone lawfully engaged in hunting upon any property owned by the state and managed by the state wildlife resources agency which may be located within the municipal limits of the city." Which still doesn't allow shooting during hunting on private property and of course we don't have any public land like that where the TWRA allows hunting in the first place, maybe we did way back when statute was first enacted or something, dunno. - OS1 point

I have never given a Rats A$$ what the people in Tinsel Town think about when it comes to their political views. I figure they are actors and they are acting 99% of the time and just cater to who ever may be interviewing them at that time as to what their views are. I only saw about 5 names of that list that I recognized. I would like to see any them go up against an NRA official in a debate on the issue of the 2nd Amendment......................jmho1 point

They can do that when they make the rules. I doubt anything will happen unless people act; and I doubt that will happen. I wanted to quit using Google when they tried to ban the gun ads. But I couldn’t; they don’t have any real competition.1 point

The fine is the same for carrying past a sign on a government building just like carrying past a sign on private property. Both are a misdemeanor 500 dollar fine. You can carry in state and local government buildings if there is not a sign. We just need to get this sign criminal charge removed during this legislative session. Any bill in the works?1 point
