  1. Nothing like a Ford Truck New Truck built by a company we didn't bail out... I bought a new Ford F250 Tri-Flex Fuel Truck. Go figure-- it runs on either hydrogen, gasoline, or E85. I returned it to the dealer yesterday because I couldn't get the radio to work. The service technician explained that the radio was voice activated. "Nelson", the technician said to the radio. The radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?" "Willie!" he continued and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and In an instant " Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven", I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles", I'd get one of their awesome songs. Yesterday, some guy ran a red light and nearly creamed my new Ford truck, but I swerved In time to avoid him. I yelled, "Ass Hole!" Immediately the radio responded with, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States ." Damn I love this Ford truck....

  2. And that is exactly what the Democrats count on.  Democrats vote Democrat no matter what, it's us on the right that divide our votes because the Republican doesn't meet all our preconceived ideas of what a Republican should be.  Don't get me wrong, I am not a Donald supporter, and I will not be voting for him in the Primary.  But when it comes to the choice of Hillary or whomever the Republicans put up...I will go Republican. I will not let others decide who represent us in the White House, I don't care if the Republican doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell in TN, I will still give my vote to them.

  3.   I think this is overkill and would ruin one of the things people like the most about dealing with fellow TGO members.  Why penalize everyone on the off-chance it obscures the fact that someone *might* really be selling so many guns that they should have an FFL?   The most I'd consider doing -- if it came to that -- would be removing the description from the feedback entries so that it's just positive or negative.

  11. For what my opinion is worth, I have no problems buying Mec-gar mags. They are the actual manufacturer for many companies. I've used them in my Sigs, Smiths, Taurus,, BHPs, and CZ pistols without issues. I cannot say the same of Promag though. I prefer not to use them.

  15. Here's the simple take on the whole selling guns as a business thing:  It was this way before Obama opened his mouth on Monday, and was just as vague then as it is now in respect to how many guns sold makes you a business.   Nothing is any different.   I haven't read all of the stuff that Fox News has apparently provided, but I consider them as reliable a source of information about gun laws as I do them a reliable source of unbiased news.  I'd take whatever they produce with a grain of salt and go hunt down information from the source.  The BATFE link is a good place to begin.  Beyond that I'm looking for guidance from the NRA, GOA and other Second Amendment powerhouses.

  18. So, dislocated my shoulder earlier this week.   I got lost in a bad part of town.  There was a big group of thugs getting ready to attack this young woman.  Well, of course I couldn't sit back and watch that happen, so I cleaned house.   Then, while finding my way home I came across a grizzly bear getting ready to eat two small kids and I had to save them and dislocated my shoulder while pulling the bears teeth out.   Well, at least that's the official story.     The truth - the cat pissed me off.  I threw a hand towel at him and my shoulder dislocated.  Aging sucks - really it sucks!

  19. That's right, a Kentucky native has bought a house in Tennessee.  I found out I had to change my blood type to UT orange before I could sign the papers on the house, but I've still got a couple UK t-shirts that haven't been confiscated.  :ugh:   I am relatively new to CC and recently got my Tennessee CCP.  I have only lurked on here for a couple of hours and already have a sense of a great community and knowledge.  I hope I can contribute something someday, I am the least of these and I am picking the meat and spitting out the bones.  Don't know a lot about guns, don't know a lot about tactics, and don't know much about ammunition so please take it easy on me if my questions seem elementary.  I have served in the Military, was praised by drill sergeants for my marksmanship, but many years have gone by since then.  I don't like KNOW IT ALLS, And keyboard jockeys that read something on forum A and are a expert with experience on forum B.  I am not one of those!  I will share my experiences but won't claim to be a expert unless I want you hurt then I will be glad to give you expert advice :hat:   Thanks for a great forum in a great State, in a Great Country.   Look forward to our friendship and like I said, hopefully I can contribute something positive here, until then I will be lurking and learning.   Tony   OH and BULLET280 was my bass boat so I kept the screen name, don't read into it :panic:   lol

  20. Well it's one thing to get caught carrying past a sign with the gun secured on your person, it's a whole different deal to leave it lying around where a child can get ahold of it.   I suspect he'd still be in hot water even if the place wasn't posted.

  26. I missed that discussion, as well.  Ridiculous.  Everything about TN hunting/fishing/shooting regulations seems to be set up to discourage the 'common man' from doing so.  For instance, if I want to fish for trout in the Tellico river I have to buy a Tellico/Citico permit DESPITE the fact that in order to be legal I already had to buy a TN fishing license AND a state trout stamp.  Now we have to pay a fee to shoot at ranges that other fees we already pay supposedly paid for in the first place?

  35.   Snorkels are overrated.   I agree with your approach, though. That's what I did when I got mine back in 2011. I added new front and read bumpers, a winch, side-armor/rocksliders, and an air-compressor. (I'm not counting a couple minor mods like CB and Ham radio, carpet removal, etc). I also added a small 1" spacer lift.   But I'm still on 32" tires. With that, I went everywhere the lifted rigs went. Okay, I'm probably a bit banged up underneath, and had to replace my oil pan once, but I was still able to hang with the taller rigs.   The thing is... it's HOW you wheel that matters, not how tall your lift is. If you learn how to pick your lines, you can wheel a lot of terrain you might have found impossible before. I mean, look at what some the old Landrovers traverse. It's important to hone your skills first, and I venture to say that an unlifted rig is better at learning off-road skills with than a souped-up crawler.   It's just like guns. You should be able to learn shooting skills such that you can pick up any gun and shoot it well. Not just your decked out race gun. It's all about learning the fundamentals well.   It costs you less and you still have tons of fun. Go add the accessories that are useful on the trail (recovery gear, etc), then go out and have some fun.   And if you really get into off-roading, you can still add a lift later, tailoring it to your needs.   Cheers, Frank (former TNJeeps.com addict)

  36. Careful tough. Last thing you want is to turn yourself into a mall crawler.  One of my old bosses has a lifted jeep and it has never seen a trail. He even uses tire shine on the tires. And with the new light bar fad, its only getting worse.

  38. You have the best pistol S&W ever marketed and are not likely to see its like anywhere again. If at all possible I would recommend you obtain and stick with OEM mags for your 5909. Others will jump out and talk up aftermarket mags for it, though so try what works. To run your gun properly you essentially need five magazines. Given the size of the 5906 I really don't care for extended magazines in it. I do recommend you purchase and either install or set aside for late a couple of sets of replacement springs for your pistol. Having owned one of the earliest of S&W M-59's as well as several M-39's and a 3906 the 5906 was the only one where I felt S&W got it right.

  39. Ok, there are other physical differences.   ALL long actions will be the same regardless of when they were made. That is all the stocks interchange between long action guns. But, there always is a but, there is a difference in barrel shanks for those of you that plan on swapping barrels. The long actions can have either a large shank or a small shank but 90% of them are going to be small shank barrels.   For short actions there are differences as well. Actions made before ~2006 will have a action screw spacing of 4.27" while actions made after that will have action screw spacing of 4.40". This matters if you plan on swapping stocks. ALL short actions that have a flat rear receiver, like a R700, will be 4.27". Round back actions will be 4.27" or 4.40", depending on when they were made. Basically anything after 2006 will be 4.40". Additionally some short actions also have large shank barrels but they are extremely rare and the odds of finding one is about the same as hitting the powerball.   The only two 100% reliable ways to tell whether a gun has the newer 4.40" spacing is this. If it has a cocking indicator at the rear of the bolt it will ALWAYS be the new action. And if the bolt release lever is under the gun and not on the side then it will be a 4.40" gun. But, if it doesn't have a cocking indicator it does not mean it is a new action.   I have heard people say another way to tell a new action from an old action is the accutrigger but that is not 100% correct. It is mostly correct but not all accutrigger guns will be 4.40".   And finally, do not assume that if it is bought new it will be the later, better, action because I have bought brand new Savages 10 years after they were produced as new guns.   Guns that have the accustock ALWAYS are the new 4.40" receiver. But that does not matter because it uses a unique recoil lug making it impossible to swap stocks unless you disassemble the gun and install a traditional recoil lug.   None of this matters if you are buying it to leave it completely stock.   And why would any of this matter? Because if you buy a Savage made before ~2006 and it has an issue Savage will NOT honor their lifetime warranty. Even if it is a manufacturer's defect they refuse to send parts, accept it for repair or do anything to correct the issue. That is because in ~2006 Savage was sold off and the new owners are refusing to honor any previously made guns. Additionally, parts for the earlier gun are very hard to find on the secondary market. You can modify the newer parts to work on the older guns but it requires experience to know what must be done to make them safe.     The Savage Axis/Edge is a completely different action and the ONLY thing that will interchange is the barrels.   And finally, if anyone has any questions regarding Savages feel free to send me a PM. I am intimately familiar with the Savage action and what it takes to get them to shoot better than they already do. I have tweaked factory guns and the results are sub .4" groups at 100 yards using all factory parts.   Give me a call sometime Kevin so we can discuss. Also, next time you come out I will show you what to look for.

  45. Just now tried to send this email to addresses I thought might reach Attorney General Slatery, but none went through, so I'll post it as an open letter to him here:   Dear Tennessee Attorney General Slatery,   Lately, local government officials have been making a mockery of your recent opinion regarding the new "Guns in Parks" law. Doesn't that upset you? They are even going so far as to say that a park is not a park, like Knoxville Mayor Rogero. Shockingly, even Gov. Haslam is agreeing with her foolishness.   If you want to have any political hope to run as governor someday, you've got to stand up to this foolishness and put a stop it with strong words.   Tennesseans are sick of nambly-pambly leadership. They want a real leader who stands behind state law and freedom for the people. I hope you take action, and soon.   Thanks and best regards,   Phillip Evans
