You say dog; I say give it to me. LOL You say baby; I say no thanks (unless that's a baby puppy). Dogs have a very soft spot in my heart and it's due to Bailey. The first dog I ever adopted. Ever since then I've sworn to never buy when I can adopt. I also refuse to let a girl like this go. I've got our basement set with a 10' x 10' area that has a bed and food bowls. She'll have full run of the yard and we'll foster her until we find her a home through the local rescue. In the mean time I am going to focus on getting her weight up.6 points

I hear ya brother. I know people aren't born that way, so I figure someone made them like that. No sense in me pouring fuel on the fire? I thanked him for changing his mind, told him we'd make sure she had a good home, and wished him well. I kinda figured by the fact he showed up at our front-door at 8:30 this morning, and was glad she found a place to stay, that he was glad they never went for a walk in the woods. Said he was mostly sore she took off and wouldn't come back. Said he kicked her once when she was a pup and didn't listen, and it's been an uphill battle training her since (go figure!) I finally got to take the new AK out today. Shot around 500 rounds through it, mostly Tulammo with a little Wolf and Monarch mixed in. Ran 3 Magpul mags and one Tapco. Ran smooth with no glitches and feels great. We were having fun with a 10/22 but after shooting the AK that's all we wanted to do. Shooting a man sized target at around 100 yards with iron sights and it was hard to miss. I really like the Zhukov stock and the fore grip setup I've got on it. Still haven't got a red dot though. I may try to pick one up tomorrow and head back Thursday. My first time at Windrock Shooting range. It will definitely be my new go to. Very friendly and they even broke out a full auto AR while I was there :)3 points

Yes. Borboun must be made inside the United states, used a mash of at least 51% corn, aged in new oak barrels, distilled at no higher than 160 proof, barreled at no higher than 125 proof, and bottled at 80 proof or higher. 95% of borboun is made in Kentucky. Technically Jack Daniels qualifies as a borboun, but advertises as Tennessee whiskey because it is filtered through 10-22 feet of sugar maple charcoal. This is known as the Lincoln County process and is what creates Tennessee Whiskey Sent from behind the anvil3 points

This guy was a rescue 7 years ago. Total cost for me to adopt was $28.00. I just couldn't live with that and gave the shelter $300. He came from a rescue center in upstate NY that picked up dogs from kill shelters in Georgia. He isn't a great guard dog, but is the best friend I could have. He's so gentle that once he caught a whitetail fawn (think bambi spots and all) when the fawn cried he put it down and licked it to calm it. Mama deer wasn't too happy with him but everyone was safe and moved on after a moment. All I think of is all the great times we have had together might never have been if it weren't for great kind people like Reefermac, and Mrsmonkeyman. By the way Mrs Reefer and Monkey man are lucky people too! Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk3 points

Welcome to the other part of Tennessee, the part that is filled with ugly, disgusting people. I would have a very, very hard time not doing "something" on behalf of the puppies. My father would shoot puppies right after they were born when I was a child. .22's were cheaper than getting the dog fixed so anytime one of our dogs had puppies he thought he could not sell he would dig a hole, drop them in and shoot them. He would tell me, at age 8 or 9, to do shoot them but when I would refuse I would get punished. One of the other ways I would get punished is he would kill, or make disappear, any dog I became attached to. So I have ZERO sympathy for anyone who would hurt any animal for no reason. People, in general, are sick and it is getting worse every day. My mind cannot comprehend what the average person is capable of any more. Every day I read about infants being abused or killed. Or that someone killed someone else for, literally, nothing. Or the amount of grief people cause to their fellow man just to get a laugh. My wife rescued a kitten this year out of an engine bay. The owner of the truck said it had been in there for two days screaming but never bothered to even try to save it. My wife saved it in less than a minute and most of that was getting the owner's fat, lazy ass to open the hood. I guess he was waiting for it to become weak enough to fall out and die. And this is the husband of our postmaster who knew about it but also did nothing to rescue the kitten. I would have a very, very hard time even acknowledging a person like this, well other than calling them a few choice names they had probably heard their entire life.3 points

Maybe nowadays, but not when my dad was a coonhunter. He bred Black and Tans for over 50 years, hunted from Iowa to Louisiana to Maine. High placers and winners in the world, little world, autumn oaks, St. Jude's and the 1972 TN champ. Nothing like a sooner or 'tick bawl, for sure. The cooners I met as a kid traveling with him back in the day were sometimes a little rough around the edges, but not asspimples like the one that this dog is thankfully shed of. Good on Mrs.Monkey! That's a kind lady, right there.3 points

First and foremost, Merry Christmas! After months of passively searching, I purchased a factory FDE SilencerCo Osprey 45 suppressor for my FN FNX 45 Tactical in FDE. I purchased the suppressor via GunBroker from BMC Tactical/Warrior Steel. After remitting my payment 45 days ago, my suppressor arrived at my preferred LGS, the Nashville Armory. The wait time officially begins as my paperwork has been submitted!2 points

My daughter asked me yesterday if we could go shooting, this only took 21yrs to happen :). Her only experience with a gun prior to today only involved a squirt/nerf/bb gun. So I pulled out 3 pistols, ammo and range bag and went out into the backyard, started off with a bodyguard 380, shot several mags with/out the laser, then broke out the 9mm's, first was a Beretta 92F, then a PX4 storm compact, shot a couple 100rds, her favorite was the 92F, as we were finishing I told her to sit still because I needed to go back to the house to get something, as I return she was puzzled by me holding a rifle and a mag, I was in hurry up training mode as it was getting dark, I told her to shoot 10rds one at a time (not in the video), then had her rotated the selector, the giggling made me remember my first time shooting FA.....best hour I've spent in a longtime... https://youtu.be/ZWPSUnW9d2U2 points

Shouldn't be more than A 30 minute flick. Our guys got murdered and screwed over after fighting like they'd been trained to do. Hitlery lied about it. And that's it. No star needed just credits for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.2 points

Good point. The label says its a sour mash whiskey bourbon. If that's how they want to self identify... who am I to argue? Whatever you call it, it's tasty. Why yes, now that you mention it, I will have another.2 points

Reefer and MsMonkeyMan, thanks for doing the right thing. A dog is a fantastic companion and I hope you find her a good “forever” home. Kudos to both of you!2 points

If you really want to try a "low impact" test of your prep...trip the main breaker to your house, secure the water supply, unplug the phone line and put your car keys away...do this from Friday just before supper until the following Monday at day break. Do this once when it is really cold and once when it is really hot. Monitor how many batteries you use as well as how much water is consumed. As you (and your family) go through each day make a list of things you needed, things you know that you have but can find, things that you wished that you had...we went through this exercise and the results were very interesting. We cheated and left the refrigerator running so no food would spoil...but the rule was, no food or drink from the refrig after the first 24 hours. "Boring" might be the operative word for this test, so much so that I made 5 bird houses by hand the first time we tried this activity. The second time, I had stocked up on lamp oil and several good books to read. The wife said that I should have gone out back and shot several squirrels for supper...just to add realism to the test. I don't care for squirrel. By the way, we (the entire family) were a whole lot better equipped to handle the test the second time. Even a simple test of your prep will go a lot further than talking about it or making a list. Your thoughts would be appreciated.2 points

I don't care what your status is in the public eye. No one has the right to do what he is accused of. If he is guilty he deserves everything any other person would receive. If Cosby was seeking female companionship out side of his marriage, with his money I am quite sure he could have found it without raping non consenting females................jmho2 points

Here's my perfect day: All government is dissolved. As a result, people are allowed to live their lives how they see fit, not how their chosen master tells them to. Everyone is able to keep the fruits of their labor instead of giving large portions of it to someone else's sacred cow. Then end.2 points

I tend to agree. They're more civilized than humans, most of the time. My pleasure. See you Thurs.! - K2 points

I just prefer animals over humans mostly. But I'm just grateful everything is going to work out for her. I am really thankful that ReeferMac decided to share with us, so that I could help. I even received messages from members offering help with her vetting and stuff. This is a great community that comes together when the need is there. This is a perfect example. :usa:  :wave:2 points

I just got word that a Foster Home has been lined up and one of the local rescues has been made aware of her. I won't have word until the morning but it looks like everything is 100% taken care of aside from me picking her up on Thursday and bringing her back. I'm really excited to meet Lil Miss Daisy! I will get her all scrubbed up and then let the Foster Home take her from there. Good times and a great family are ahead for this little girl!2 points

I'm another 870 fan, basically because I bought one 20+ years ago and I've done dang near everything with it with a 28" barrel and modified choke. I keep meaning to get a real turkey choke and an 18" barrel to use it for a house gun but I haven't had time to get around to that it seems. With that set up I've hunted small game, doves, turkey, coyote, shot clays, and used slugs to hunt deer. It pays to clean it every 10 years or 5000 rounds as it gets difficult to cycle if you don't.1 point

As usual the video quality is very good. I’ve shot a lot of 19’s and 66’s in competition and they all pointed exactly at the target . How does that Rhino do against a Smith at 25 yards?1 point

S&W will be releasing an M&P 10 with a heavy barrel and quad rails. Not really, I just made that up (just like most other rumors) but it’s all I’m really waiting on.1 point

If you are ever near Jackson Hole WY in the winter, be sure to visit the Elk Sanctuary. You can see 5000 elk or more in one place. They come down from Yellowstone for the winter and get fed there. You can ride a horse drawn sleigh right into the herd. Worth the trip.1 point

if we did not have Gus, I would love to take her. Thank you for taking her in for now... Its the German in you ..we cant say no to animals..:)1 point

Wow. Really? From what personal experience are you making this statement? My SR's are some of the finest handguns I've ever owned; accurate, reliable, slim, easy to conceal, and WAY better than ANY M&P handgun I've ever seen. And I've seen plenty, every day. The SR's outsell the M&P's by a huge margin in the shop. I've never had a problem talking a customer out of an M&P and into an SR series gun. Once they feel the grip and the trigger, it's pretty much over.1 point

The Rhino is made in .357mag, .38spl only, 9x19mm, 9x21mm, and .40S&W. There is also a .357mag/9mm combo gun available with 2 cylinders1 point

Yeah the P-Series were fat and ugly but now they have been running all these years even after production and their true beauty is how tough and reliable they are. They are built like tanks . If these newer Rugers turn out the same then I can overlook the uglyness. I really hope Ruger does do well with it. I have a handfull of the older P-series and they are tough as tanks but run like a fine sewing machine.1 point

Now ya went and done it, but I will wait for the price to comedown a bit, 40 S&W with a 6" barrel is a bit pricey.1 point

I've already contacted 2 rescues, I have a lot of friends in the dog training/rescue world. Please, please do not post her on Craigslist. I'll come get her if I have to. I am confident I can find her a home if I have a few days to do it. A safe, loving home.1 point

Appendix carry vs traditional strong-side carry is much akin to the 45 acp vs 9mm argument. It'll never be settled on the interwebs but will always be fodder for verbiage. Choose what works for you and be happy. As to the video. Good on them! We live in a 360 degree 3 dimensional world with people all around us. We generally train (if we actually train at all) or practice/shoot (more likely) on a square flat range. At least these folks are considering, and training, in a relatively realistic manner for a relatively realistic situation. There are things that could, probably should, be done a bit differently...but they are at least training and learning. I applaud them for that. The young lady has damn fine trigger discipline. When, if, we train, there are times that we will muzzle ourselves and others...we try diligently not to do so. But in a dynamic training scenario it's always a possibility. But if your finger is not on the trigger until you've made the conscious decision to fire, the risk is mitigated to a large degree. We all need to learn to move around people, dynamically even...because that will mostly likely be the situation you find yourself in when the balloon goes up. Use a dummy gun, blue gun etc. Learn to maneuver around others from a competent professional, and practice. Recent study is demonstrating that physical contact ( actually touching or physically redirecting those that are with you) behind you or to the side, out of your line of fire, is working much better that having to mentally process verbal commands. Processing auditory commands under stress is problematic when "flight-fight-freeze" kicks in. Training and practice helps immensely in these situations. Just my unsolicited and ever devaluing $0.02 worth... fwiw you may want to look into the training and material to be learned, information gathered, from folks like Craig Douglas (SouthNarc), Chuck Haggard (Agile Training) and our own Randy Harris. Their breadth of knowledge and experience is phenomenal. edit: spelling...1 point
