  1. Just a few weeks ago I was talking to a friend who was complain about his wage cuts due to low gas prices. He works in the oil fields. Funny, he didn't complain one bit when I could barely afford to drive to work on almost $4 a gallon gas but he was making 6 figures and had an $80k diesel dually with tons of aftermarket work. When I said something he told me to find an oilfield job and quit complaining. He got the same advice, find a different job and quit complaining. Cheap gas means more money for food, entertainment, guns, hobbies, etc which is good for the economy Sent from behind the anvil

  2. The taco place owner is one sharp cookie. This is funny.     When life gives you surveillance footage of your business being ransacked, turn it into lemonade -- or tasty frijoles. A Las Vegas taco place that was burglarized a week ago transformed the robbery footage into a hilarious commercial that has many Internet users craving corn tortillas and fresh ingredients. The security footage shows three men breaking into a closed Frijoles & Frescas Grilled Tacos establishment on December 16 and sacking the restaurant.         https://youtu.be/kzdv4FUHqP8

  3. Here is a blade I just finished up over Christmas, CPM154 steel with Jade colored G-10 scales! The new blade shape is also out of CPM 154 and is "Bird and Trout" styled! What do you guys think about the shape?

  4. Even a Glock will fail if it fires out of battery. Most higher end handguns are designed to make firing out of battery as close to impossible as is possible. If you still have all your digits, call it a good day. It could have been much worse.

  5. If it slides grease it, if it rotates oil is the old saying.   If don't mess with grease on an AR much because they get filthy and the grease just makes it messier.  Rifles like M1 Garands, Carbines and M1A's pretty much need grease.  On 1911's and other semi-auto pistols I like to grease the rails where the slide rests.  It's amazing the malfunctions this will prevent.   I bought a tube of this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/133862/tetra-gun-grease-1-oz-tube about six years ago.  It's now about empty but the point is a little goes a long way.

  6.   I'm with you.  I'm also of the belief that if you need something bigger than a 9mm or .40SW to do the job, you shouldn't own one either.  :D

  7. It's worth mentioning that there are different ways of open carrying, and it's the ones that make the open carrier look like a pompous asshat crying "look at me, I have a gun which makes me badass" that makes a lot of people get turned off to open carry.  There was also the argument about how an open carrier might be the first one shot, which is speculative at best.   Either way, I support the right of open carry as long as its just that, carrying openly.  Carry your weapon for your own defence if needed, don't turn it into a statement.

  11. Well TGO is a bunch of enablers! I mean, I have always enjoyed bourbons and really have an appreciation for fine bourbons at that. But never with the tenacity I have now! I get that no bottle of Pappy is worth what the price demands on the secondary market, but Pappy 20 is like heaven dancing on my lips. I'd sure like to add a bottle to the library one day but I probably have a better chance of getting struck by lightening. So until then, I have tried many suggestions here. I have been able to acquire a few of the harder to find bourbons, Weller 107 and Stagg Jr. The rest of my library consists of much more accessible bourbons many of which I have not tried yet. Four Roses Single Barrel, Makers Cask Strength, Bakers, John Bowman, Elijiah Craig Small Batch, Jim Beam Single Barrel, Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch, Noah's Mill and one of my all time favorites, Lagavulin 16. On my short list are more tastings from Heaven Hill would be the Elijaih Craig 18, 23 and barrel proof. I haven't found any of those around here. I'd really like to aquire some of the super premiums at some point, Pappy, George T Stagg, and Van Winkle rye. So my fingers are crossed! Anyways, I'd like to thank everyone who contributes to this thread. It is indeed a darn fine band of brothers we have here and I appreciate the knowledge and expertise passed along.

  17. what happens when purse stolen with gun in it? any liability there? (like say it gets used in a homicide or school shooting or home invasion??) I understand its a situational awareness thing too, but Mrs has had some things stolen from her in crowds and malls without even knowing it until later.... I have also been attempted pick pocket but my fat butt prevented the wallet from coming out and when I turned and spotted the guy he ran away... we are new to weapons but I am acting as if purse isn't even a choice..... Shhhhh

  18. Heck...you can do that with a Glock..you just gotta try harder! :pleased:   I double charged a 45 acp...11.4 grs of Win 231 and destroyed my Glock 21. It was in the late 1990's. Bulged the barrel and slide, split the frame and blew the plastic off the trigger...and ejected my mag pretty hard. But I got my shot ! and no injuries!   Yes we handloaders should call it a good day when we have all our digits..because all it takes is a moment of focused inattention to do what I did. My fault alone...   Glock replaced my pistol btw...they knew it was a handload and wanted to examine the "remains". Good customer service imho.

  25.   If we were talking about conventional troops, I might agree that the M&P could be a better choice for equipping American troops with American made equipment that meets a technical requirement for the purpose of buying domestic.   But were talking about an SOF element here.  These guys don't always live on the flowing side of the supply chain for spare parts or replacements, thus having a rugged pistol such as the Glock (which I consider light years more durable than the M&P), along with a chance to appropriate said spare parts via local means can count for a lot.

He leaves for 6 day stretches and Ill find him sleeping on the porch or the bed of my truck. They come home unless some turds or Chinese Food store finds him first. 36. I'm no 1903 expert, but the stock finish looks original to me, at least as to when it last left the arsenal. I would guess that it's a replacement stock, quite common on these from what little I know.  If it were mine, I wouldn't touch a thing, but that's pretty much my philosophy on all these old milsurps, original or not ...

  47. I was debating G20 vs. G40 a few weeks ago as well.  I've decided on the 20 for multiple reasons, some of which may not apply to you, including suppressor use.  Add a suppressor onto a 6" barrel and you have quite a long setup.  The 20 is lighter and shorter, thus more appropriate for suppressor use.  You also do not give up much in the way of speed with a 4.6" vs 6" barrel.  According to ballistics by the inch, using a Hornady 200xtp, you only lose approximately 69 fps.  This number hardly makes it worth the added length/weight to me.  Plus, I can gain most of it back by tweaking handloads    Once again, your intended use is a little different and you may really feel the need to get that extra 69 fps.
