Went out this afternoon not really expecting to see anything but I got a new chair for my stand so went to drop it off in it and try the sage smoke in my trailer for those darn Asian beetles. Nothing moved, no squirrels, not many birds until late in the afternoon. Had about 15 minutes of light when two does stepped out but I couldn't get a good sight of them through the brush. When this guy stepped right into the dirt path and presented a great shot. I tried to weigh him but I could not raise him all the way up so his head was still on the ground, but he registered 130lbs so I guess he's about 140 or 150 lbs. I plan on trying a european mount with him, hope it comes out ok. "Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it." ~Pericles~6 points

A couple of months ago I decided to finally get an AR. I'd wanted one for awhile but hadn't pursued it much. So I started doing my research to see which one I wanted or if I wanted to build or buy and something clicked. Not sure when or why but it did. AR turned into AK. I found that the DDI AK's were made here in Knoxville and were getting great reviews and so that's what I wanted. Thanks to Dolomite for trying to save me a few bucks and get a WASR but I just couldn't get away from wanting the DDI. However these things are like a Tattoo. Now I want a WASR to go with it in the traditional AK look. Also thanks to Fighting Sheep Dog. I've never ordered one online and the transfer was super easy and smooth with them. So in the 3 or 4 weeks I've had it, its already evolved a little. I have to say the AK is quite easy to work with. At first Then I decided I wanted the Ultimak gas tube rail and also got some side rails. And tonight I added the fore grip4 points

Mine finally made it to me today with a special surprise inside. It's found a home on my plate carrier, and will be bleeding hogs in the spring. I can't thank Willis and the guys at Protech enough. I'm about to be their best salesman. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Lol! I'm happy when I can go to the range with half a dozen or so guns, have a bag full of mags already loaded, shoot around 3-400 rounds, and never have to reload a mag while I'm there. Sometimes I don't bring any ammo in boxes to the range at all. Once the mags are dry, go home. Still takes a couple hours. :/4 points

I'm simply saying there's no reason why profiling isn't a viable tool. Monitoring suspicious purchases is just part of that. If you don't farm and buy a ton of high-nitrogen content fertilizer, you already get a little extra attention. If you buy a ton of Sudafed, you get a little extra attention. If you buy 60 cell phones and don't have 59 other people in your immediate family, you should get a little extra attention. I'm not saying we give up freedoms for security. I'm saying we use our goddamned heads as a society and stop being so paralyzed by political correctness that we don't report when a Muslim next door starts stockpiling IED components.3 points

Anyone who has watched the news let alone walked a patrol in Iraq or Afghanistan knows why cell phones are a big deal. I find it weird that one of those here on TGO who is pissing on the idea that this should concern people in the States has served and, at least from the impression he conveys, has walked those patrols and has seen IEDs in action. But anyway... there's no reason to be concerned. It's just cell phones. It could never happen here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3356215/Executed-MOBILE-ISIS-releases-latest-video-kill-two-victims-detonated-bomb-phones.html?ito=embedded http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3356215/Executed-MOBILE-ISIS-releases-latest-video-kill-two-victims-detonated-bomb-phones.html#v-66557379675196432843 points

Just quoting this for a response when I have a few more minutes later in the day. Short response is we are going to spend a day saying hi and thanks at Vanderbilt Children's in the next few weeks. We spent a while there during the first half of this year with my then 1 year old daughter(now two and healthy).3 points

In addition to breaking or being lost, magazines can get banned. Not sure if it'll ever happen again in this country at the federal level, but anything is possible. If you want to pass on to your children the freedoms we enjoy now as shooters, a lifetime supply + is not a bad idea (I wish it were so easy though with ammunition). With as cheap as AR and surplus AKM magazines have been the last couple years, you should have lots.3 points

The emotional attachment to an attacking dog is immaterial. Dog attacks, dog gets shot. True emotional attachment to a dog includes properly training and restraining it.3 points

No I did not get a .40 you smug bastards. I actually let go of my Glock 29 and 30 - as sad as I am to let Glocks go those subcompact fat frames dont bode well with me. Traded both for a RIA Tactical 1911 and a Sig P220. So I became a hypocrite and got myself another Sig and a RIA lol. The wife loves the Sig, and gave me the look of "really? Thought you hated these" Never getting a .40 though. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk2 points

I went in to look around with no intention on buying a gun. I saw a sign that said Clearance and had a list of long guns and hand guns. I spotted a freaking good deal. Service XD with gear in 357 sig for $277.98. I asked to see one and the employee handed me an xd and I did a quick feel and look and said I will take it. He sent me up front to pay the TICS. I came back and stood in line for about an hour. I was starting to get really mad at this point. It was finally my turn. I filled out all the paperwork and they went to get the gun to put in the serial number, and poof the gun was gone. The guy that originally helped me apparently just up and left because his shift was over. The poor employee that was helping me was frantically looking for it with no luck. To make the story shorter they never found the gun. The manager apologized like 30 times and ended up selling me a XD mod 2 in .40 for the price of the other gun. I walked out happy-ish with a mod 2 for 303otd and just went to the Springfield website and got my 2 free mags mag holster and soft case for free. Now all I need to do is get a 357 sig barrel and I will be happy. I will end up with the gun, 4 mags, 2 mag holsters, gun holster, speedloader, a hard and soft case and a storm lake 9mm barrel all for under $450 Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk2 points

No. Cops are a curious bunch; it’s their job, and they rely on the help of citizens to do it. No one is suggesting that cops stop these people and ship them off to Gitmo. But we (citizens) have enemies trying to kill us. Cops have ROE that they go by. Nothing in those rules stops them from talking to people. You learn a lot when you talk to people. The people that are stopped have rights. They are free to ask “Am I being detained?” “Am I free to go” “Am I under arrest”. Based on RAS or PC; cops will answer those questions, “Yes/No you are being detained?” “Yes/No you free to go” “Yes/No you are under arrest”. Most of the time you can tell if someone is up to something or trying to hide something. Actionable? Depends on the circumstances, and it will be determined by a DA or Judge if those actions were proper. Nothing in our Constitution requires a cop to put his life in danger, and nothing in our constitution requires them to stand by and wait when citizens are in danger. We aren’t talking about some pot head that might have a bag or weed; we are talking about a person that may be planning on talking the lives of a lot of innocent people. Our freedoms are intact. Our founding Fathers never intend for good men to stand by and no nothing. That’s why they use the word “unreasonable” in the fourth amendment.2 points

I love were I live. My home cannot be seen from the street so they don't even know I am back here. I do have one of these on my door which seems to even bother a few people that stop in with buddies of mine that don't know me personally. Missouri Bullet Company if you are shooting coated bullets. I would STRONGLY recommend getting the coated bullets rather than the bare, lubed ones. They can be pushed as hard as jacketed, do not wear the barrel like jacketed, less smoke, no exposure to lead and are cheaper than jacketed or plated bullets.2 points

At that price, I could afford to stand around for awhile. Congrats on the SA pistol.2 points

I get a few ever now and then. Something about some big dude with tats and beard opening a door and asking who the f*** they are what the f*** they want seems to turn them off to the idea. I'm very rude and gruff to people knocking on my door solicting. I've also had one show up at my parents when I was the only one there, working in the blacksmith shop. It was a Jehovahs witness. I told him he could talk all he wanted as long as he would come in the shop and swing a hammer while doing it cause I had shit to do. He declined my offer lol. Sent from behind the anvil2 points

The outcome of this story sucks on many levels: The kid who lost control of the dog will feel guilty that their actions led to their pet's death. The man who shot the dog is obviously a dog lover too and likely feels guilty for having to shoot the poor animal. In the melee he looses control of his own dog and it bites a kid. His own dog could possibly be quarantined due to the bite. The mom probably never imagined their dog would lose it's mind and go after another dog or she wouldn't have let the kid hold the leash. All in all, just a crappy situation all the way around.2 points

The best way to measure how bad your day is going is to consider how bad others have it. Then you'll feel lucky to be able to have the problems that you do. When trivial crap like this happens to me, I'm immediately thankful that I can have problems so trivial when I put it into perspective. I'd give some examples of actual bad days I've had, or bad days of those close to me, but I don't want to bring everyone down. Just be thankful that you can have these things happen to you and that you consider them a big deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

If I read this correctly, he had the dog pinned under his knee before he shot it in the head? Where is the danger in that? If you have the animal under control and pinned, then wait for it's owner to come over and get it. Pit or not. Meanwhile, mister shoot first, think later's Akita bites a 6 year old? Where's the consequences of that? This is right up there with a 67 year old woman in a wal-mart parking lot. Some people should not own a weapon. This man sounds like one of them.2 points

Obviously this was compiled or edited by a clueless non-firearms owner... in EVERY single case example they refer to the number of guns "registered". When was the last time any of you "registered" a non-NFA firearm in Tennessee? What's more, the per capita estimate sum of 73,320 for a population of 6,495,978 doesn't even make a drop in the bucket in parallel comparison with the almost 500,000 HCP holders in TN (which obviously doesn't include those "Fudds" that own long guns exclusively). Despite the fact that I am a product of a public school education, even my math isn't that bad. Which tells me that this is more about the number of background checks per capita, not the number of guns. Disingenuous, at best. Making up stuff is the 2nd favorite pastime of a liberal media-- right behind open antagonism of white conservatives. These idiots have no idea what they're talking about.2 points

If history is any indication, I'd look for something uncommon. The Remington R51, while a dud, will undoubtedly be sought after in the future as there aren't many in circulation. 45 GAP pistols, Some of the plethora of short magnum chambered rifles that went by the wayside, etc. High quality and scarcity are two determining factors in the value of collector guns.1 point

My gun usually in a OWB holster covered by a un-tucked shirt. It prints big time in certain situations but most of the time my wife doesn't even notice. Only time I think I've been "read" is a couple of times by cops and I think that's just because they are trained to look for that sort of thing. They didn't say anything but I did notice them looking at the hump in my shirt. I've tried most of the IWB holsters and I can't wear them. It's just too uncomfortable for me. I've bought a pile of them that I can't wear for any extended period of time.1 point

Well, unless he wrote in an actual criminal charge for you and me in the EO, there's nothing to be "upheld" in that regard. Well, as far as that goes, TN has law that no state resources will be used to enforce federal gun laws or EOs that conflict with ours, so that might not be an issue at all. - OS1 point

Diversions is a good point to bring up. Or it could be some sort of race baiting social experiment. Yeah it is pretty sketchy but if we let some jerkoff cops (excuse me, "special" agents) from the ATF, FBI or what have you bag people up over this what will stop them? Most of us buy bulk ammo or reloading components and being a white southern male is suspicious...whats stopping Special Agent Muldoon and Slappy from cuffing us up and interrogating us? What if I buy a bunch of envelopes - with my beard grown out I look like a chechen what if they say I am spreading anthrax? Or buying a bunch of computer components to engineer a botnet? We let our unease get the best of us and allow Big Brother to come ball dudes up - whats stopping them from coming after us? We aint the "good guys" that ideal is subjective as all hell. Hell Id rather them blow something up and kill people and have us take care of the source rather than give some limpdick muldoons the impetus to bag all of us up in black vans My $.02 Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk1 point

I must be the anomaly, I usually have three mags for my handguns and no more than 7 per AR. That was always my basic load and if it worked on active duty I figure it will work now.1 point
