  2. So, they're well armed, Daryl's at the wheel of a 10 ton truck, with only 8 or 10 bikers lined up stationary in middle of road like bowling pins, and he stops?   And not only that, after being verbally threatened, they all get out to powwow?   Puleeese....   - OS

  4. Haha! I love the reactions. :-) What you see is what a crazy sense of humor and a complete lack of pride can do to a man, haha! The story take place in an old gold mining town's saloon, and I'm going to be playing a grizzled old miner who is a small part of the story, but also the narrator. I get that some folks are too high-brow to enjoy a little tongue-in-cheek goofiness and will scoff at this kind of thing. That's cool. Plenty of other folks are just crazy enough to laugh at it too, and maybe show up to take in another twist on how Jesus' birth at Christmas was not only a great event in its time, but a story of personal salvation for anyone who will accept Him. :-)

  7. I don't have one but I have seen in older homes in Cincinnati a Steel rod that had a plate in the flooring to hold the bottom and a plate in the door to hold the other end.  I doubt you can break through them.   A simpler solution would be a  2x4 that slips into brackets on the frame (assuming your door opens in) If it opens out then add brackets to the door itself.   If the burglar is determined the best you can do is hope to slow them down.

  9. My Santa shops this early ... My wife is always saying there isn't a "safe" way to combine two particular interests of mine ... guns and bourbon/whiskey. Well Santa had the right answer with his gift: whiskey bullets! And also a credit card survival tool I had mentioned in a thread some time back. I couldn't be more pleased with my Santa. He did a great job!! :) thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15.   The new manufacture XTP stuff from Freedom should be quite comparable to the XTP loads from Hornady. Same bullet, comparable powder load with bout same claimed velocity.   I've had no trouble with Freedom's reloaded stuff. I see them about the same as Georgia Arms' Canned Heat, have shot a lot of that too.  Georgia Arms also offers new manufacture stuff with Speer's latest highfalutin SD bullet, a similar type deal to Freedom's Hornady bullet, and I've shot some of that too, and have some stashed besides.   I'd posit the higher end stuff you got from Freedom is going to be just as reliable and effective, and worth what you paid.   edit: btw, Freedom has 5% off with free shipping for today's Cyber Monday. The cheaper stuff pretty well picked over already, but I did get 500 rounds of new .223 soft point, been meaning to score some for my AR pistol configs after all the Russian plants seem to have quit making it.   - OS

  17. The arguement was that some prosecutor could try to argue you wanted to kill someone (or a similiar asinine assertion) by carrying hand loads. That is a load of crap. You can use that arguement for the use of lights, optics, night sights, compensators and what have you. End of the day is if you are confident in your reloads and they offer the best performance in your EDC then carry them. However being that you dont reload just carry some premium HD ammo. I dont care about advanced statistics and data - a .22LR will put someone down with good shot placement. Personally I reload quite a bit but always carry Hornady Crit Defense rds for my 9mm, 357SIG and 45ACP Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  18. I've had my own reloads fail to fire, probably due to bad primers. I've had factory target ammo fail to fire and to come apart in my pocket. I've never had any problem with premium carry ammo from Winchester, Remington and Federal. That's why I carry the expensive stuff - my life is worth it.

  19. The past few months have sucked a little more than others, having lost our 10-year-old male Doberman and our 10-year-old female Boston Terror [sic] within two months of each other. Bostons are highly social animals and become very attached to their people and to other animals that live with them. The vet says the Boston passed after the Doberman pretty much due to grief and depression. Very sad. After the Doberman passed, and before the Boston stopped eating, we contacted a few local rescues to see if we could find her another "big dog" friend. Sadly none of them responded to us quickly enough. MrsMonkeyMan put us in touch with a wonderful lady who owns a combination training org, breeder AND rescue of Dutch Shepherds and we seriously considered that as an option although my uncle in VA, a retired SWAT officer, K9 handler and trainer, told us that a Dutchie might be a little more "high octane" than we wanted. Others here with experience with the breed echoed those concerns in this thread too. While a Dutch Shep is not off the table entirely for us, one of the local rescues did get back in touch with us. To make a long story short, here is our new fur baby. We call her "Mina" as it's a perfectly good German name for a perfectly good German lass. She's about 5 years old and is even pedigreed. She learned her name quickly, has chosen me as "her person" in the family, and watches over our 2-yr old daughter like a guardian. She even endures my daughter laying on top of her. (I'm pretty sure she enjoys it)

  23. After losing our family Shelty of 14 years, we took a long break in his honor. After about a year we decided that we were going to get a rescue dog. After an exhaustive search I found Dodger at a humane shelter in Sparta TN as a 6 week old puppy. He was lost to us in transit for a few days when the shelter sent him to the Nashville Humane Society. After annoying every employee there, they finally decided to let me know when he was going to be released from getting neutered. I picked him up the next day and how grateful we were to have him. He's loving, playful and active. He's 5 months old now and we've learned some lessons. 1.) He's way more active than we are and that's not fair to him. See, we're "on the go" types and that's to work, scouts, baseball, basketball, dance, etc. We had grown so accustomed to our previous lapdog that it was easy to overlook how much he needed to run. We have plans to buy a new home soon but that's not until early next year, so we currently don't have a fenced yard. Leashing him is fruitless, he just sits and barks. 2.) Since he was part corgi and had tiny paws, we presumed he would be little. He's not enormous by any means but much larger than we expected. 3.) Potty training has been difficult for us. We're gone so often that by the time we get home we're running out the door with him peeing on the way... We really love him but I feel like he's missing something we can't provide right now. We really have given it a lot of thought and came to the conclusion that we want to seek a better home for him. Trust me, I have 2 children and I've had to have the talk with them about it.... so I've definitely thought it out. He's fully up to date on his shots. We regulate his diet, he gets Purina One twice a day, 2 cups, he's never even been fed table scraps. He's also crate trained. If we give him a treat, he runs right back into his crate to enjoy it. That being said, we're looking for a loving individual or family who would want to romp and play with is energetic guy. For the record, by energetic I don't mean he's crazy... but he IS part Shepard, so things like fetch and wrestling are right up his alley. This is Dodger about a month ago taking a nap with me The eyebrows and big Corgi ears crack me up.

  25. I had a cheap aluminum "door bar" like Mike described, it was some cheapo ratcheting aluminum fork with a rubber pivot pad on the bottom. Kept douches from busting in my door at EOD school. It was like $15 dollars and I replaced the cheap aluminum pins with stainless steel rods and put epoxy and machine screws on the fork part - NO ONE got through that thing. If someone is determined theyll kick it down at the hinges but it sure as hell will slow someone down quite a bit. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  28.     The ID protection is straight bull#### though.  The first offer was 1 year, then the second more serious offer was 3 years.  So now after 3 years and 1 day, we will be paying for it for the rest of our lives.  I think they should have to provide it to us permanently since it was a massive #### up on their part.   It's like they think they're insinuating to people that their information will not be sold/used after the three year mark.

  29. It was great to meet with you Bersa, wish I had more time, and in reality I did. Yesterday was a cluster to put it lightly lol. We didn't end up on the road until near noon, then with the holiday traffic of everyone going home, it took us until about 8 or so to get here. Thats only one pit stop too.   Anyway, sorry again for the wait and I hope the new monitor gets you by for a while, looks like it is working or else you wouldn't be posting lol. :p    Now I'm off to change my member location...

  30.   Really have to call the Ruger Mark I and II a great choice. Also consider the 22/45 series. A bit more money, but great pistols.

  31. Don't worry about reloads (your own) or remanufactured (like Freedom Munitions).  Only worry about the performance of your chosen round.  This has been debated back and forth for some time, and some big names make the argument against.  But the fact is that there has never been a legal case where reloads have been an issue.  If its a justified shooting, its a justified shooting.

  33. I also vote for a Ruger Mark, maybe a Mark II.  You should be able to find one, at least the standard 4" tapered barrel version, for that price.   They are made of steel and will last forever.

  35. The Glock 42 was my introduction to the world of pocketing carrying. My recipe for success has been a Nemesis DeSantis holster, Trijicon HD night sights, Ghost Inc Edge connector to reduce the trigger pull from 9 LBS to 5 LBS, + Federal HST's. When I am not pocket carrying the G42, I have a G43 that I AIWB in a T.Rex Arms Sidecar appendix rig. Like my G42, I have Trijicon HD night sights + Federal HST's in my magazines + in the tube. At some point in the near future, I will purchase Ruger LCP. Ladies + gentlemen, my EDC. G42 or G43 + Benchmade Griptilian x SureFire Titan Plus

  36. You know, if blondie is into making stuff outta metal why don't she make make some plate armor for Michone? I'm telling ya, you get Michone in some plate mail, a back up sword and some kind of amphetamine and she would have the best chance at cleaning them out.

  37. It has to come up. Proper preparation is key to any garage/ shop floor holding up over time. We did the floor in the shop at work, brought in a crew that shotblasted the brand new concrete to get it clean enough for the coating to adhere correctly.

  40. Just wanted to do a quick update I made about 25 pounds of sausage using Sidinman's recipe.  I did change up a few things.  I used powdered mustard instead of mustard seeds and I added cheese and jalapenos.  I cooked the sausage in two batches the first at 350 for about an hour and 15 minutes.  I cooked the second batch at  300 for an hour and it was much better.  I will be using sausage casings in the future as the wax paper left a huge mess.  I love the sausage and have gotten nothing but compliments on it.

  41. I got family that ain't blood and blood that ain't family. They make their choices and I make mine. If they want to be an asshole or a liberal, socialist, communist, anti-gun, or whatever then that's a choice they make. And I can make the choice to simply not be around them. I've got a cousin that's anti-gun and super liberal. Haven't spoke to the guy in years. He wants to see me, he knows where I live and what my phone number is, he can come see me at my place, guns and all. Sent from behind the anvil

  42. Being family doesn't mean I will put up with more. If they are good family I will but if they are not I view them as any other POS. Blood doesn't make the bond any closer than with any other person. The ONLY family I have now is my wife, my son, his wife, her brother and our granddaughter....that is it. All others can go to hell. I have seen family members hurt their family more so than complete strangers. Both mine as well as other families. It is sad but the ones who hurt me more than anyone else were also the ones who were my family.

I've have a couple other incidents. I have no self control when it comes to people who lack consideration. I'm working on it. Every day is a struggle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
