If they caught the right guy, I hope he doesn't make it to prison. As the father of two girls, I'll rent someone the woodchipper.6 points

I haven't touched a rifle this morning, but that's o.k. Little man got his first deer, a doe. 200+ yard shot. Of course my ol' pappy comes by with this monster 8 he killed this morning. Despite the hot weather and gale force winds here, it's been a good morning. Time to make the jerky! :no1: I took off work next week, so maybe I'll get to hunt then.5 points

I like Jeff Dunham and Achmed talking about his 72 virgins and Jeff asks him "wait....does it specifically state that all 72 are female?"4 points

As I have read in many other posts in this section, glasses are a key part of or survival preparedness in any situation. I try to keep a spare set in the truck, my BOB and one at work. As anyone with glasses knows this can get expensive, and if you are talking about the long haul in hazardous situations you need multiple pair. I recently purchased a pair of glasses from Zenni Optical. The price was $76.78 with the best lenses, best coating, nice frames, two sets of clip on sunshades and all the bells and whistles. This would have cost me over 300 at Wally World. I was skeptical, but when they arrived, I could see great out of them and they have held up to my 2 year old wearing them. $76.78 is still a good chunk of change if you want 4 pair as back ups, so I logged on and bought a pair for as cheep as I could. This was the result. I had a pair of glasses shipped to my house for $16.85 that I can see great out of. If would have bought multiple pairs at one time shipping would have been the same. I you need to add to glasses to you survival preparedness supply, or just buy new glasses, I highly recommend Zenni optical. Full disclosure, their factories are located in other countries, but if I am in a situation where glasses will no longer be made, I need to be able to see.3 points

For those close to or traveling through the Huntsville area Larry's Pistol & Pawn in Huntsville is selling Remington Golden Saber in 9MM, .40 S&W, .45 Auto and .357 Magnum for $9.99 per box. Grabbed 10 boxes earlier today and with sales tax the cost for 10 boxes of Golden Saber was $108.89. After the $100 Remington Rebate the cost for 250 rounds of defensive ammo is $8.89...hard to beat that!!! (PS - There is a 10 box limit per customer)3 points

Local talk is that he wasn't in it alone. I hope they get everyone involved. A public hanging would be ideal, but won't ever happen today. This guy can't be dead enough quick enough for me.3 points

I tagged my second buck at 730 this morning. Thought he was an 8 point but he is missing a brow tine. The Lord has blessed me this season with 3 does, a 9 point and now this 7. Hate that I can't buck hunt anymore but I'll try to get my boy on his 1st deer and take a few does with the 6.8spc AR15.3 points

Some genius pulls up in my driveway, headlights shining in my bedroom window, in a loud diesel pickup, revving the engine. I get up, put on my pants, stick a pistol in my pocket, and go out to introduce myself to this genius. About halfway there, he must have decided he needed to be somewhere else in a hurry. Now I was in the mood to have a frank conversation with this guy, but I guess this was the best outcome that could have happened. I figure it was some kids with a few too many beers, but what are parents teaching their children these days? This would have gotten your windshield perforated at a lot of peoples' homes. I'm about to give up on humankind. :shake:2 points

Don't worry about which way the wind blows, do like me, I keep them all in my stable: 9mm, 40, 45, 357Sig, 10mm. I'm not a wheel man, or I would have 38SPL, 357Mag, 44, etc. This way I am covered whatever side of the bed I wake upon.2 points

Well the new Sharps 25-45 Rifle did not fail me today but I need to go to the range more we have been watching this 5 point all season he would never get close enough for a shot but today he came in the same way he has every time I've seen him pulled up on him and he never slowed down i had the power set wrong on my optic shot and missed he turned and went back the direction he had came for about 30 yards then headed right toward where i was set up at a trot adjusted my optic to where it needed to be led him just a little bit shoot again missed to much lead he never changed his speed set up again shoot #3 was a hit right in the right front shoulder broke his leg but did not end him had to take a fourth shot in the neck so we got these geans out of the pool hope everyone had a good day and be safe in the morning2 points

most of the small 380s have nearly identical recoil. The sig seems to be slightly lower and I have no idea why. slightly bigger ones like bersa are much more comfortable without going full sized 9mm. This size fits a pocket but not as well; I carried nearly the same thing as a Makarov for a decade in my pocket. "Most" gun store sellers have a hangup when selling anything to women. A healthy woman can shoot anything a healthy man can with a few exceptions for exceptionally large showpiece guns. Since you are not talking about those today, the only other issue is the trigger pull. I can't pull the heavy triggers on some of these pistols, so watch out for that. If you can't pull it easily, allowing for back to back shots to empty the mag in about 1 second per shot, then its too heavy or too long or both and in my PERSONAL opinion not good enough for defense. If you watch out for those 2 issues, let her decide the rest for herself and ignore (politely) any "steering" your gun seller tries to pull.2 points

I'd say the 9mm supply/demand has shifted in favor of the consumer (at least in the short term)2 points

I've never been much of a runner even when I had to, but I do go for walks on a daily basis and my daughter (2yrs) is a ball of energy that needs another ball of energy to keep her company and run each other ragged until they both pass out. We're also wanting a dog that can both be a pet and a protector, and will take us on as its "pack" and bond well with the family. After speaking with MrsMonkeyMan's friend last night, we are very interested in meeting the dog she has in mind. I just dig meeting cool dogs (preferring them to people most of the time, lol) no matter whether we're taking in a new family member or visiting, so it's a trip I will be glad to make. The big sticking point for us is what the dog thinks of our daughter. I really need the dog to protect her and love her as if she were one of her pups. Too soon my daughter will be wanting to run around and play in the yard and I really want a dog that will watch over her and keep her safe.2 points

Sadly for me...I seem to like them all. The 9/40/45 that is. If you like the 40, and have guns for the cartridge, why change? You've probably got a few rounds of 40 stashed as well. So you buy another gun with different caliber and need to buy more ammo. If you just want to go to 9, just want to try one; if you can, get a 9mm pistol and shoot it for a while. Get a buddy or a member to go with you and shoot a 9 to see. It might not be what you want...then again it might be. But don't rush to change just for the sake of change. I shoot a lot of 9 for range time, and my current personal favorites are a 9mm Shield and a PPQ M2 in 9. But I still have a couple of 40's. Like you, I thought I'd just get out completely, but then shot a G24, the 6" 40, and found I really liked it. More as a range toy, but enough that I decided to keep it and the 40 ammo I already had. When it runs out, I might think again about dropping the 40. Not likely though. And as Comms said, maybe you'd like going to 45. I said I would never own a 1911. boy did I screw that up. I've gotten fanatic about the frame and the 45. Even looking into the PPQ 45 now. But getting off track, like everything else in this world, it's what you want and like.1 point

Definitely not. Go to .45 :) No really, can't suggest weight but I have been carrying Hornaday Critical Defense +P, just my personal preference. Seen a few Youtube experts and many have different suggestions but you can't go wrong with Hornaday Critical Defense or Critical Duty in any caliber.1 point

Kind of begs the question of how cartridge driven nail guns and the like escape the firearm classification in federal law. I mean, I saw Denzel off the baddie with one in The Equalizer, and from good distance away, too! - OS1 point

I want to do something similar with our driveway when we build on our land. Did you hard wire the alarms? Doesn't seem like wireless would work that far. Some alarms behind a gate and a fence filled with angry attack llamas is what I want at the new place :)1 point

I have been in the store 5 times over the years. Three times at the original location and two at the current location. Each time was not a pleasant experience and required a good amount of time before I decided maybe they were having a bad day and would give them another chance. My last trip was about 4 years ago and I won't be back. I have purchased many weapons and a lot of ammo and accessories over the years but but not from them, they will not get my business. The owner and his wife are simply rude and disrespectful toward customers. It wasn't so much a personal experience for me as it was seeing how they interacted with other customers while in the store. It caused me to lose all interest in whatever inventory they had for I could easily get what I wanted elsewhere, and do.1 point

If you're not specifically looking for a scout rifle, just a short & handy .308 The savage 111 hog hunter would take a LOT of beating.1 point

The reason the cost is higher, at least for us, is the risk involved for us holding your item for 6-12 months IE room in the safe, insurance, and paperwork we have to hold on to forever ( seriously forever LOL) What item are you looking for (or found) we may be able to get close to that price or even be cheaper once the xfer fee is added in....1 point

Used to have one. Really didn't like it even with the mindset of cheap back up gun. Could probably spend a little more and get something you would like a lot more.1 point

Don't forget Willis! They also have Willis, and if you're a kidnapper and you put him the right frame of mind he might kill your whole family! Seriously the most badass thing I think I have ever heard someone say to their captors!!! :lol:1 point

About a year or so ago I actually phoned Lucky Gunner and spoke with a very nice lady there. She said their "business" is located in Knoxville, but they don't store/ship/house anything here. iirc she said they have a warehouse in or around Atlanta as stated above. But I agree, good folks and a good company. I think the first order to your address and free shipping is still in place. A bud ordered 2 K of 9mm a few weeks back, as as his first order from them he was able to take advantage of this offer. I, and several friends, have use Freedom ammo before and have not had any problems with them. SGAmmo is a site I use more times than not. Good prices and fast shipping = win/win in my book. :pleased:1 point

Dutchies are intelligent, high energy and loyal dogs. More active (generally) than GSDs but not as nuts as Mals. Of course, I'm a fan of rescues over buying from dog breeders. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Your not alone. I have had the exact same "running battle" with my wife about my 8 yr olds and 9 yr old going to a restaurant bathroom alone. Just as you said, this story makes me feel too lax as well.1 point

It's pretty good ammo. I've bought some when at that or lower. I have seen it at 30+ a box of 325 plus shipping. That I did avoid. I do try to buy a little when I find 22. I prefer CCI, Federal, and have started trying the Aquila. All my 22s seem to like those 3. As far as price, if I locate bulk at 6 cents or less a round, that's where I buy. I don't see it getting any cheaper.1 point

Yes, yes. And when American companies stop hiding behind the "Made in America" tag, and start building quality products....people buy them. I buy the best products I can find.....it's too bad Anerican companies don't make more of them. Ruger.........what Bill Ruger did to our 2A rights should never be forgotten. Doesn't matter that he's gone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Comm... We have a dillon 650 that i bought from an old buddy that wuz downsizin and tired of reloading... I like em, and their customer service is excellent... The main problem with progressives is that ya need to settle on a recipe that ya are gonna use and load it... If ya do, ya can pile up bunches of ammo... If ya are a tinkerer and experimenter, ya just as well have a single stage... That bein said, we have several "standard" loads that we load a minimum of about 500 rounds for on the dillon... They are great for straight side pistol cartridges, but lots of folks load 223 on em too... I never have... The most dangerous thing with a progressive is powder charging, so ya need to use a powder recipe that will allow you to spot an overcharge... We have double charged some cases; but i always select a recipe that will overflow the case if ya have a double charge... We also use a powder check die in the station to make sure as well... Lots of folks make them and they are a valuable tool... The thing about the dillon is that you can set up your dies in a die head and just change them out when you change calibers...Another down side is if ya change bullet designs within a caliber, ya need to re-set the seating and crimping dies... That's why ya need to settle on the bullets and recipes that ya load... Initial set up is a pain with these things, so it's handy to be able to lock down the dies on the die head after ya get things the way ya want them and just change them out with the change in calibers... Finally, the speed of a progressive is overhyped...Speedy reloading is dangerous reloading, i think... I've never loaded 500 rounds of anything in an hour... It's more like two hours... Hope this gets ya ta thinkin a bit... I'm sure others will chime in on this... leroy1 point
