Killed 8 pointer this am 8 o'clock! Pictures when I get home :rock:

Out on my land. Had this guy come through but got past before I could close the deal. Heard him in the thick stuff on a ridge behind me. Keep playing with the call. He walks straight to me about 30 yrds off. I take a shot and primer cap no fire. Held him in my scope as I reached up to recock. Thankfully he was kind enough to hold still. This time she fires. Dropped him where he stood. Small 8 point.

I could not go out this morning. So my cousin and his son went to were we normally hunt. His son is the one I called an a hole a couple of weeks ago when i posted the 11 pt he shot in bow season. He decides to get in the ladder stand I put up three weeks ago. So what does the little a hole do, he shoots a 10 pt from my stand. Told you he was an a hole. Lol. Actually I am really happy for him. He has had a great year. To add insult to injury, his dad shot a nice 8 pt 30 minutes later. Man I wish I could have gotten out this morning.

  I think my point was more insidious. What we're seeing are the next generations of radicalized Muslims from even the most peaceable families that have been living in these various countries.   Meaning that being Islamic period means that x percentage will do this sort of thing in time. I shot this 8pt around 8:30 this am. He came down the trail looking for love. I sprayed some rinks in a scrape and on a couple fallen logs on my way in. He came right to the log which was at nose level. He kinda got jittery and acted like he was going to turn and go back the way he came. He presented a quartering to me shot. I put it on his shoulder knowing it would hit him I'm the ribs/ liver. Which it did. I found him about 15 minutes later after I quit shaking. I'm stoked! First deer for me in a couple of years. Well I have to tell the story. This is all but after he's down because during the adrenaline is the only time I can't remember due to aftershock shakes! I was pretty mad as I drove in to park as I could see it was about to break day. I'd planned on being in the stand well before even a hint of daybreak showed. So from the truck I walked and with each step I debated 1) go to the ladder stand because I'm late and that will be quieter and quicker to disturb less or 2) Climb up in the climber on the back of the property while making noise and possibly scare something off as the break of day arises. I had literally already started walking towards the right deciding to get in the ladder, but my left foot reared back and my body followed right to the climber. I tightened the foot straps on the platform a little more than they had been and it was a little more quiet so that was good. I think I forgot to mention that it was pretty dang cold out there this morning :rofl: So I get set up, primer in the muzzle loader and imagine every shadow I see is a deer as the sun starts to awaken the woods. It was pretty quiet for the next hour until the squirrels had their first serving of crack filled cuts and then the woods were alive. I don't know about y'all but sometimes when I use a grunt call, the only thing I can think of is "Is this gonna scare the deer over the hill away?". So I don't use it a whole lot, but have been practicing short low tone grunts and since rut activity is up I add a bleat or two in between 6 or 7 short grunts. I did this about 3 times in sets of 20 seconds each. After that, the old me said "Hey, you've probably scared every deer for a mile so shut up and wait!" So 5 or so minutes later I hear CHH CHH CHH CHH right behind me and assume it's the squirrel that's been up in my tree for half an hour or so. Nope! I turn left slowly just to whisper a cuss word at the squirrel and 3 yards behind my stand walks out this buck. I about crapped my pants I was so surprised even though I've had deer appear out of nowhere before but not in spitting distance from me. The climber is bow stand so no gun rail, which meant the ML was in my hands already. As I raise it up to my shoulder I watch this buck, head straight up, ears forward, and slow forceful steps and it hits me. He came in to find that "buck and doe" he heard! In the 5 seconds it took to get the scope in front of my eye he was at 11 yards. I mouthed another grunt and he stopped to look back. I squeezed the trigger and he donkey kicked and turned with his tail tucked. I'm still not relieved yet but when he runs face first in the fence and drops to the ground I felt good. He stood back up, ran straight through the middle two pieces of barbed wire and ran a bout 22 yards from where I shot him and crashed.......THEN the adrenaline turned me into a jack in the box with extra strength spring! As I start to calm down (a little) I realize that I didn't have time to really stare at his rack but then realized it didn't matter because the thought in my head was that it was a 6 or 8 and I was fine with either. So, since I heard it crash I started quietly and shaking, I begin to pack up my bag and hook up the line to my ML to lower it. I waited about 10 minutes after that and watched the woods as I eased down ever so quietly and slowly just in case. I ease out to where the shot was and no blood but as I walked left I started seeing it. Looked forward and I could see him laying there. So I stood there for a while longer while texting my wife to tell her before easing up to him. As you can see it's an 8 point and he's a beautiful buck and weighed 110 dressed out. I call my buddy who lives down the road and was gonna throw him in the truck bed and haul him to his house and gut him in the back field since I was gonna stop by and show him the deer anyway. I tried to put him the back and no go LMAO! I decided to just do it there then he'd be easier to get up on my tailgate. I was cutting away the diaphragm with my Hen & Rooster bone handled knife and sliced the crap out of my thumb. Laid it open pretty good but thankfully I've carried a first aid kit for years just in case. Glad I'd decided to do that a long time ago because this time I needed it. All is good now but the way it was bleeding I was worried I was gonna have to have stitches. Gotta have a little excitement in every story I guess, and that knife is sharp enough to provide it if you're not careful. Next I'm on the way to down the road thinking how good lookin of a buck he is but not thinking he's mount worthy as I have a couple with similar racks. Later my wife called and was upset that I didn't get him mounted because he was the "best looking buck you've killed" HAHA Ain't that how it goes? Anyway, she and my daughter are both very happy for me after all these hours in the woods and also glad to have meat in the freezer. I love seeing them happy about it! Alright enough is enough, here's my harvest and I'm very proud of this harvest. My self done pictures leave something to be desired but timer on cell phone, this is all I can do. This type of attack has the consequences of open borders written all over it.  Like TMF said, too well planned, coordinated, and executed.  The bottom line is that France is a soft target, and that's why they've had these attacks lately.   Per POTUS' comment on ISIS being "contained"...that applies to their land grab in Iraq & Syria, which is what the White House, Pentagon, ect, are using as the benchmark.  If ISIS can't take any more land outright, they'll ramp up tactics like this.  They're low cost, only require a handful of personnel to leave the Levant, and the results are far more expansive than the body count, which they depend on for propaganda and fear mongering purposes.  Think Hamas & Hezbollah's activities against Israel, but with an amplification in fanaticism, and a much easier population to target in Europe.   But that's in Europe, where they are being flooded/invaded by refugees, who represent the perfect recruiting pool for this kind of thing.  What about America?  First things first, this isn't justification for any type of PatriotAct, wiretapping, any civil liberty or civil rights restrictions. Like everyone else, Muslims fall into three categories: 1)  apathetic followers, meaning they just want to live their life, enjoy their family, and could care less what others do; 2) people who may believe in the extremist cause, but don't have the nuts to go past talking a good game; and 3) the extremists who are ready to fight and die.  I'm only worried about the third group, but nothing from them represents the kind of threat that justifies any kind of relaxing of the Constitution.  I know it's popular to think that "all Muslims are the enemy" but lets think logically.  If that were true, and they were all so devout at wanting to kill the infidels, by numbers alone, we'd see attacks in America a lot more often.  There just aren't enough of group 3 to worry me.  As for groups 1 & 2, if they leave me alone, I'll leave them alone.    That said, I'm not an idiot.  When I go about my business, I'll be carrying my gun, ready to defend myself if needs be.  The enemy is out there, so just be prepared to react to contact and protect yourself if it happens in your immediate area.  We get enough people doing that, and like a proper defense perimeter, we'll have overlapping coverage.  All we'll need are citizens "scanning their lane" not a government solution that comes at the cost of our freedoms.

Dropped another doe about 7 this morning. Saw a very nice buck cross the gas line about 350 yards away and head into the hollow where I saw the big buck yesterday while dragging my 9 point out. I gotta get me a stand set up in there before rifle starts.

I don't agree with the "outgunned" concept.  These guys are cowards.  From the reports I've read so far, these guys clacked themselves off once they started getting engaged by police.  The two jihadis down in Texas completely fell apart when they started getting shot at by one guy.  I've fought enough of these pussies to know that once the lead starts flying their way, they normally want no part of it.  They'll either try to run, hide, submit, or clack themselves off.  Rarely do they stand to fight toe to toe.  It happens, but rarely.

Outgunned?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  The element of surprise is worth a lot.  "I" would be outgunned for sure.  But one with training and a pinch of talent...maybe not.     Either way, carry everywhere, for whatever reason suits you best.  I carry to defend my wife and myself, not sure how far I'd go for a stranger.  One reason I carry for SURE, If they're gonna get me, I wanna make a lot of racket on my way out.  It's easy to type what we'd do behind the bullet proof armor of the computer screen, but I won't kneel and be executed like a pissant.  Make 'em work for it!

Arrived today...my first 10mm

I really like this gun. I purchased several guns from an estate, which included this one. It has two cylinders. Back then they etched a naval battle into the cylinders. One of them was the every day cylinder and everything was rubbed off over time. The other one is in pretty good shape. I'm rather surprised that the bore is in as good shape as it is. The holster belt would be about the right size for my thigh. The cartridge box is pretty cool. I've really enjoyed learning how to preserve and care for these old guns - it's totally different than with modern guns. There is a special soap you clean them with, a special mild abrasive you clean them further with. Rust is removed with a little piece of copper, which is better than anything modern I have seen. You don't protect them with oil, but with a special wax. Anyway, I've really enjoyed this gun.

She travels down to Nashville several days a week to work, and After Paris she said that she would feel better if she could start carrying more often, so I got busy today cranking her a Dex holster, my sewing machine will arrive here in Tenn, of Tuesday and will take me a little while longer to get it all put back together and start to crank out some leather items as well. will be back in a few to post photos it is not done need to do the finish up work tomorrow.

Read every slide, definitely something every officer, EMT, fireman and city manager here should read.

Thanks.     Update 11/13/15...   Thanks all for the prayers.  Sometimes the answer we want isn't the one we get.  We're a little sadder in my household tonight but recognize that God is in control and are grateful for His many blessings.   I appreciate everyone who said a few words for us the past few days.  At this point we are simply looking for a period of restoration and healing.

I don't disagree that this may raise a number of legal issues, but I can't accept the absolute that a person cannot be in fear for their lives while at the same time not want to take the life of another. This happens all the time with victims who pull a weapon but do not fire. I don't have this problem, but that doesn't mean I immediately dismiss someone else who does. Nor am I recommending this as a standard course of action or technique which should be adopted by trainers and students. I'm just saying I have no issues with his actions. Both people are alive. He not only would have been justified in shooting this person, it seems, based on the circumstances, he may have been beaten to death with a bat had he not done something to stop the attacker. Got to my spot a little late but managed to drop a fat doe a few minutes ago.  It was kind of strange.  I spotted her about 125 yards away but couldn't get a shot because there was a fence in the way.  I had decent cover to stalk towards the fence and she was walking away from me so I took off.  Right as I got to the fence she spotted me and must have thought that I was another deer or something because she started walking towards me. I took a shot as she was quartering towards me at 100 yards, she ran in a couple of circles and piled up.  I reloaded and am waiting for another.

I just hope this is a wake up call to all countries that have opened their borders that they begin doing in their countries exactly what Trump wants to do here. Pack their :poop:  and ship their butts back where they came from. And to think Obama wants to bring in 100,000 of them to our country. This is our country and Obama owns very damn little of it.   That is something that should be voted on and not something he waves his pen at...........jmho

Yep watching this too.     UNDERSTAND what I'm saying here.  This will turn out to have muslim ties.  The people that have been killed/injured did NOT deserve this in any way.  BUT, France as a whole deserve every bit of this.  They let the bastards in by the train load.  It will happen here and my heart breaks for the victims but as a WHOLE country, we will deserve it too.     We used to believe that Nazi germany was the worst enemy of the last few centuries.  I believe it is the filth of islam.  We are finding out the true evil that is Islam.

I have used Indian Head gasket sealer to rebuild my 65 GMC pickup. I used cereal  boxes and Indian Head, worked like a champ. :)

Is that on the front of the Wartburg jail? Been past there many times. I recall there being an interesting sign, but couldn't recall the details.   It's been several years since I put in at OBJ, but the last I heard was that the hooligans responsible for the break ins had either been put in prison, died, or moved away. I've not heard of any break ins for a while now.    I know of a few times the park rangers have followed boaters out there. You can drop off gear and people at OBJ, then meet the ranger at Lilly Bridge and park in the safer spot. Then they'll give you a ride back to OBJ. Just stop in at the ranger station in Wartburg and talk to the rangers.

Left over tenderloin biscuits from yesterday are reheating in the oven.  About to putthe coveralls on and head out.  The landowner has seen a lot of deer where I'm headed today so hopefully I'll see something.  Need to make up for last weekend which was a wash.  This not being able to hunt at all during the week is killing me.  Usually I've been able to squeeze in a quick morning or evening hunt during the week but I've been working 8-5 so that really wipes that option out.  Good luck out there this weekend everyone and congratulations to those that were successful this week.

I think about 1/2 of the population is Muslim and I heard they just now closed their borders about 10 minutes ago. That is about like closing the gate after the horses have got out. In this case the horses got in and they closed the gates.

I'm with you on that. However the BFR puts a new spin on the old concept of a handgun and rifle with same cartridge. No one makes a reasonably priced .460S&W lever gun. I only know of one and it's ridiculously priced. Not so much so if you were looking for a custom rifle but very much so if you just want a .460 lever gun.

I have always liked the look of the BFR.  I have an itch to get a BFR in 45-70.  I think it would make a great hunting gun for thick cover.   I would never sit at an edge of a 200 yard field with it but put it in a bandoleer holster and get into thicket where you have 30-50 yard shots and I think it would be great.
