  1. I heard my name mentioned.....   Look, if you want to learn some skills for solving lethal force  interpersonal conflict without getting yelled at, belittled or made feel like you don't belong here then I've always got room for another student in class.   If you want a "boot camp" or high school lunch room experience or fraternity house hazing experience while someone tells you how bad ass they are ...then I'm NOT your guy.   I don't need to make myself feel good by trying to belittle students or to prove to anyone how bad ass I am.... I'm here to make YOU more bad ass than you were before you came to class. And that can be done without the over the top histrionics. If people are interested........they know where to find me.

  4. I know this is about Electric smokers , but I made an old school Pit from concerete foundation blocks and didnt even cement them toagther. I just layed them on top of each other and use two pieces of plywood for the top. It makes such awesome BBQ . The Blocks were $50 for a bundle and everything else was just cheap scrap wood ,expanded metal and rebar . I use an old 50 gallon drum barrel to burn my wood in . I cut small hole to get my shovel inside it and then shovel the wood coals over to my pit. Here is the pit and drum barrel . Its was cheap to make and will last several decades. Here are some chickens and three pork shoulders . The chickens take me 5 hours and the shoulders take around 10-15 hrs depending on thickness. I use Oak wood and Hickory Wood. 5. It's a shame that Critical Incident Strategies isn't still around.  Todd and Dustin had a way of presenting good training that was applicable to 99.999% of what the average Joe needs to know about surviving an incident and they managed to do it without profanity, a boisterous YouTube channel or shopping for clothes at The Buckle.   The reports that I have heard coming back from students of Randy's (Cruel Hand Luke) classes are nothing but glowing with praise and I have likewise heard excellent things about Tom Givens and Reid Henrichs.   (By the way, Tom has been in the industry for about 25 years and knows a thing or two about gunfighting from first-hand experience.)   We're rather fortunate in Tennessee to have reputable trainers close and accessible to us.  We're also in close proximity to some folks I'm not an advocate of.

  8. Of the ones mentioned I would pick Reid. I would also suggest you get a hold of Cruel Hand Luke. He supports this forum by being a vendor. He also regularly passes along his knowledge on the forum as well.

  15. No, we just had a policy through them for our family's coverage. Paid roughly $500/month for good coverage, albeit with an $11000 family deductible. As a small business owner for the last 10 years, we've definitely become informed consumers of healthcare. I think what really makes my wife mad is that we've really been careful consumers of healthcare. And now, as usual we're being punished for making careful choices as we float this doomed experiment. I could have the healthcare system fixed by breakfast tomorrow morning and still get a good night's sleep tonight. Problem is the system is rigged. We the people are going to lose.

  17. Funny how no one can explain how if Bush was supposedly so anti 2nd Amendment but yet he put ZERO effort into renewing the AWB in 2004.....it was simply allowed to go away and that was that....   Do we really think that if he REALLY wanted an AWB renewal that he would not have suggested to Tom Delay (the speaker of the house at the time) that they allow the renewal to happen and to come to a vote?   So did he just "forget" to get an AWB done on his watch? Or was he saying what he felt he had to say to get elected and allow the Republican controlled congress to do their job?   The "fix was in" on the AWB expiring and most people in the industry knew that it was NOT going to get renewed according to what Tom Delay's office was telling us in the summer of 2004. There was NO support for it from the White House and they (the speaker's office) were making sure that it did not get support in the congress......

  21. Sorry to rain on your parade, but Bush would have signed the assault weapons ban in a heart beat. He also supported mandatory background checks on all gun sales.... Also, the landmark Heller v DC court case, Bush's DOJ fought tooth and nail to support the complete handgun ban in Washington for more than 4 years. Don't believe me, here is Bush in his own words, complaining about the AWB not being renewed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh8oubGJo8M BTW, John Kasich who is currently running for President as a Republican helped round up 48 republican votes in the house to get the AWB passed in the first place.... Just a quick note, Kasich, even though he campaigned and voted for the AWB, has an A rating from the NRA, whats wrong with that picture?

  26. Yes, we all know some Republicans are anti-2A...   My point is, all the current democrats running for POTUS have sworn they'll fight for more gun control, restriction, bans (AWB's), etc.   While many on the right have sworn to protect 2A rights and not renew any AWB's, etc. So again, vote accordingly or suffer the consequences.

  31. My father was very funny when it came to time changes. Part of each year he would be on same time as everyone else and part of the year he would be on his time because he never changed his watch. When someone would ask him the time he would look at his watch and ask the if they wanted their time or his. They would just look at him kind of funny and walk away..............

  33.   My friend, you just described Randy Harris aka Cruel Hand Luke.   Dolomite's recommendation is spot on. I've known Randy for a pretty long time and train with him a few times each year. He's a great guy (I'm proud to call him a friend) and gifted instructor. You'll not find better imho.   Tom Givens (Rangemaster) is another instructor I hold in high regard. Great guy, excellent instructor, and incredible track record for students surviving real world encounters.   I've not had the opportunity to train with Reid, yet, but hope to do so. He comes across as a solid guy.   I too have trained with James Yeager. It's been more than a decade ago, but I found him, at that time, to be much different than his YouTube persona and a really good instructor.   I stay way out of the "politics" of that industry...way too much drama for my likes.   Congrats to you for looking for professional training. You won't be sorry that you decided to go down that road. Keep us posted on your training experiences.     TMF..very funny vid . Good satire.   Best of luck to you Sir.

  35. Since they filmed this one after the next 2 or 3, it felt like it may have been shoehorned in just give Glenn's fate even more tension.  They talked about the need to slow things down after the first three episodes, but they really could have fit this almost anywhere, I think.

  36. Have taken fighting pistol twice at Tactical Response in Camden.   Each time was exceptional.  Jay Gibson was instructor each time.  He is outstanding.  Yeager rarely teaches the classes himself.  He has tons of instructors for that.   I will go back again for any one of the classes they offer.   I see it like this.  Regardless of what you think of the man himself, he has very good instructors and provides very good training.  Henry Ford was a communist and loved Hitler but I'll never buy anything but a Ford because the product Ford sells is what I'm looking for.   I'd bet you won't be dissapointed with any three of those you mentioned.  I feel Tactical Response teaches more everyday training that the average Joe would encounter.  Zero appears from his vidoes to be more of a military frame of training but that is who he trains the most of.  Reid is awesome guy but he learned almost all of background from taking classes at Tactical Response.  He actually quit his teaching high school teaching job to be an instructor at Tactical Response before he quit and started his own school.   No matter what, take training from someone, you won't regret it.

  40. Latex Gloves Next time you use a pair of rubber gloves, you're going to smile when you think of this: A dentist noticed that his next patient, a little old lady, was nervous, so he decided to tell her a little joke as he put on his gloves. ' Do you know how they make these gloves? ' he asked. ' No, I don't, ' she replied. ' Well, ' he spoofed, ' there's a building in Canada with a big tank of latex, and workers of all hand sizes walk up to the tank, dip in their hands, let them dry, then peel off the gloves and throw them into boxes  of the right size. ' She didn't crack a smile. ' Oh, well. I tried, ' he thought. But five minutes later, during a delicate portion of the procedure, she burst out laughing. ' What's so funny? ' he asked. ' I was just envisioning how condoms are made! ' (Gotta watch those little old ladies! Their minds are always working!)

  41.   From the IRS website: The Affordable Care Act requires employers to report the cost of coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan. Reporting the cost of health care coverage on the Form W-2 does not mean that the coverage is taxable. The value of the employer’s excludable contribution to health coverage continues to be excludable from an employee's income, and it is not taxable. This reporting is for informational purposes only and will provide employees useful and comparable consumer information on the cost of their health care coverage.

  42. My wife works for a very large company and I have been on her insurance for years, as it is a better plan and costs less than where I work. After the first of the year those family members that have insurance available to them at another job can stay on the plan; but at a higher rate. Obama assured us Obama care would not impact those that already had insurance. He knew he was lying when he said it. So now those that don’t work get a lot better health care and those that do work get to pay a lot more.

  48. First of all, your mind set if off for using a progressive loader. When you set up for a caliber you should be thinking about loading 500-1000 rounds. Dillons powder measures are spot on with pistol powders. When you get to the extruded rifle powders you could see as much as a half grain variation in your drops. But that's with anybody's powder measure. I shoot as much as 5000 rounds a year in 9mm. Plus other calibers. When I set up for 9mm I won't change the press until I run out of cases.   I have loaded on a Dillon 650 for years. Wouldn't change for anything. It ain't broke, I'm not going to fix it.   If I were you I'd spring the bucks for a Dillon 650.
