HEY GUYS!!!! Look what I invented! I think it's gonna be a real game changer.

Retirement     One day a man decided to retire.   He booked himself on a Caribbean cruise and proceeded to have the time of his life, . . . that is, . . . until the ship sank.   He soon found himself on an island with no other people, no supplies, nothing, only bananas and coconuts.   After about four months, he is lying on the beach one day when the most gorgeous woman he has ever seen rows up to the shore.   In disbelief, he asks, “Where did you come from?  How did you get here?”   She replies, “I rowed over from the other side of the island where I landed when my cruise ship sank.”   “Amazing,” he notes. “You were really lucky to have a row boat wash up with you.”   “Oh, this thing?” explains the woman.  “I made the boat out of some raw materialI found on the island.  The oars were whittled from gum tree branches.  I wove the bottom from palm tree branches, and the sides and stern came from a Eucalyptus tree.”   “But, where did you get the tools?”   “Oh, that was no problem,” replied the woman. “On the south side of the island, a very unusual stratum of alluvial rock is exposed.  I found that if I fired it to a certain temperature in my kiln, it melted into ductile iron and I used that to make toolsand used the tools to make the hardware.”   The guy is stunned.   “Let’s row over to my place,” she says “and I'll give you a tour.”   So, after a short time of rowing, she soon docks the boat at a small wharf.   As the man looks to shore, he nearly falls off the boat.   Before him is a long stone walk leading to a cabin and tree house.   While the woman ties up the row boat with an expertly woven hemp rope, the man can only stare ahead, dumb struck.   As they walk into the house, she says casually, “It’s not much, but I call it home.  Please sit down.”   “Would you like a drink?”   “No! No thank you,” the man blurts out, still dazed. “I can’t take another drop of coconut juice.”   “Oh it’s not coconut juice,” winks the woman. “I have a still.  How would you like a Tropical Spritz?”   Trying to hide his continued amazement, the man accepts, and they sit down on her couch to talk.   After they exchange their individual survival stories, the woman announces, “I’m going to slip into something more comfortable.  Would you like to take a shower and shave?  There’s a razor in the bathroom cabinet upstairs.”   No longer questioning anything, the man goes upstairs into the bathroom.   There, in the cabinet is a razor made from a piece of tortoise bone.  Two shells honed to a hollow ground edge are fastened on to its end inside a swivel mechanism.   “This woman is amazing,” he muses. “What's next?”   When he returns, she greets him wearing nothing but some small flowers on tiny vines,each strategically positioned, she smelled faintly of gardenias.  She then beckons for him to sit down next to her.   “Tell me,” she begins suggestively, slithering closer to him, “We’ve both been out here for many months.  You must have been lonely.  When was the last time you played around?  She stares into his eyes.”   He can’t believe what he's hearing.        “You mean, . . .” he swallows excitedly as tears start to form in his eyes, . . .           . . . “You’ve built a Golf Course too???”

[sarcasm] And in other news, studies have indicated links between being alive and dying.  According to one researcher, an exhaustive study of living people indicated that living people have a 100% chance of dying at some point in the future (margin of error for this study is +/- 5%). [/sarcasm]   As y'all probably know by now, I recently had stage 3 colon cancer.  I figure that if I live long enough then cancer will probably, eventually come back to get me.  Now, I could spend whatever time I have between now and then living on stems, twigs and grass and then still die and be lying in my coffin like this (metaphorically) :  :angry: or I can continue to eat my good, smoky barbecue (one of my favorite things in the world), occasional serving of bacon and so on and be lying in my coffin like this (also metaphorically) : :D .  Don't get me wrong - I like eating vegetables.  They go great as side dishes with meat!

Highly recommend always negotiate OTD price negotiations with the sales side.  Write the check before you ever enter into the business office.  Don't worry about the details in the middle of the paperwork, only concern yourself with the final number, the rest is just voodoo math anyway.  Many times this has saved me money and avoidance of the dreaded sleight of hand by the business manager.

Bouvier told FoxNews.com he hopes it will send a strong signal that it's a bad idea to pull a gun with bad intentions in his restaurant.   "I just want the criminals to wonder whether customers have a gun," Bouvier said. "I don’t want a shootout but I also don't want people coming in here thinking I have a given them leverage over my employees and customers." Bouvier 46, cooked up the plan after a man walked into the restaurant and told the cashier he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect -- who is still being sought -- made off with cash from a tip jar and no one was hurt. Bouvier said a customer approached him shortly after the hold-up and said he had a gun and was prepared to use it if things got out of hand. But Bouvier, who already offers a 50 percent discount to police officers, noted that no one knew there was a law-abiding gun owner in the restaurant when the robbery occurred. That got him thinking. "What if criminals recognize my restaurant as a place where legal and responsible gun owners come to dine?" he said. "They would think twice about what they're doing. "I don't care if they bring in a gun or not," Bouvier said of his customers. "The 25 percent discount is simply for showing you have a carry license, meaning you have a clean criminal record." Bouvier first made the announcement Sunday in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. "If thugs are going to come in and threaten OUR extended family with guns, you'd better believe I will use every trick I know to protect our family," he wrote. Loyal customers left messages of support for Bouvier and his response to the robbery. "Exercising my 2nd Amendment Right and Eating the best Cajun grub north of Lake Pontchartrain!" wrote customer Brian Alvey. "Love Art Bouvier's reaction to being robbed!" wrote another. "Just an honest man trying to keep his business and customers safe while they dine, and I think it's awesome! Indy, we need to take back our streets/homes/businesses from these punks!" "Some have called saying, 'You've lost a customer,'" said Bouvier.  "Are you telling me you're more comfortable with a thug in line with a gun than a dining room full of people with no criminal record and a legal license to carry a gun?" asked Bouvier, a self-described libertarian. When asked for their opinion on the matter, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in an e-mail Monday, "It is not against the law to carry a handgun with a permit and for a business to offer a discount. The department encourages responsible gun ownership." Bouvier added he's not concerned about what his insurance company might think of the discount, saying, "I’m simply recognizing a legal document." He said his message to would-be diners is simple: "Are you legal? Let me know." "I want to reward the fact that my customers are that type of citizen," he said.  Bouvier opened Papa Roux eight years ago with great success. Diners pack the restaurant at lunch time, ordering from a variety of Cajun-style items -- with the hand-breaded catfish po' boy in greatest demand. The eatery is also a longtime favorite among local police officers, who receive a discount each time they order. "Police always have a 50 percent discount here, so I already told them they can't stack the discount," Bouvier quipped.

So my business partner, my dad and I went down to an associates place just outside of Meridian TX. He's got a real nice lease of about 3500 acres in the northern part of hill country. Our purpose was to have my dad hunt for a nice buck, and my buddy and I would shoot pigs. If you watch the news at all, you'd know that it rained a little out there this past week. As they tell me, this lake (120 acres and stocked with 10lb bass, which I did NOT get to fish!) only over flows about every 20-30 years. It's 100 years or so old, and this is the most anyone still alive has ever seen of it. This place was amazing. Absolutely fell in love with this country.... We couldn't (easily) get to the ridge line in the background to look around due to the flooding... but I wish we could've... would have some awesome pictures. This ranch has been on a management program for about 5 years now, so their starting to see some good populations.... great diversity here too. Rio Grande Turkey (so I'm told, I know nothing about turkeys) Like I said, we were there to hunt hogs but the flooding had them all over the place and some of the better spots were now rivers. My buddy did manage to take this small gal though: I didn't get a shot at any pigs so I took a buck out of this group: So all in it was a pretty successful trip IMO. And by the way, the new BassPro in Memphis is worth a visit!

You have to love it. If it's not fun, relaxing and enjoyable then start shopping for your next bulk purchase. I actually enjoy loading more than shooting.

Just moved down here back in March. Fifteen days later, my Pop had a stroke as a complication from a quad-bypass nine months prior ... I was able to make it back to Syracuse in time to say goodbye, & make a decision with my Mom to remove him from life support - he fell on concrete, hit his head, & received an inoperable brain bleed & was immediately knocked out & into a self-induced coma ... he never regained consciousness again. Sorry for the extensive details, ... it is just how I am, ... Here are the three pistols he had, & left to me: S&W Model 36 Chief's Special - Nickel Plated w/ a couple speed loaders & belt holders for them & a pictured leather holster. Colt Auto .25. All original, matching everything, as pictured, along w/ cool leather holster ... Davis Industries DM-22. I guess it is more or less called an over/under Derringer. As far as the Chief's .38 Snub goes, I know he bought it brand new in the late-1960s, ... & the fifty rounds I have shot through it in the past three weeks are the most it had ever seen in the previous forty-five'ish years of its existence. It had not been fired in approximately fifteen years ... it was his carry when he drove armored truck for a casino - last time around 2000. Then it went into the safe. I like it, but my hands are kind of too big for it, but my gf loves it. Now, the 'lil Colt ... This pistol I absolutely love! This thing, to me, has a coolness factor of 10-out-of-10. Yeah, obviously if my hands are too big for the S&W, they are bigger on this, ... but w/ a big hand & a 6ft-5in frame, I can one-hand it w/ no problem because of its clear lack of any kick ... but it actually has some range to it when I have taken a bit of patience w/ it. The Colt, as well, I know he bought brand new ... this one in the early-1970s. I did some investigating on this & found many earlier models were manufactured for Colt in Spain under the name Astra, ... until the early-70s when Colt started making them themselves right here in the US, & the US-made Colt models have serials that begin w/ "OD". This one begins w/ ... "OD". :^) I have shot a box of fifty through it in the past couple weeks, ... before then? My Dadaybe had shot twenty through it, & it had easily not been fired since the late-70s, ... when I was around five or six yrs old. Fires like new. Lastly is the Derringer. This is only maybe twenty years old, or so ... & had six rounds put through it as I actually heard them at a distance. Then it sat on a shelf. I have not done a thing with it since having it in my possession, & likely won't, ... actually, will probably sell it, even though I know I would not get much for it even though it is basically brand new & everything from retail is present. I want to get either a .40 or 9mm subcompact semi-auto as a carry, which will probably mean I will have to sell either the S&W or the Colt. GF loves the SW, but she will never end up with a CCW, & I just love the Colt even though I know what it essentially is: Not much more than the Derringer ... power-wise, per se. Eh, who knows ... just participating in this "Show & Tell". Thanks, folks!

I know gunsane had a thread that mentioned this business a short time back, but I thought I'd give the good folks at Proneshooter in West Knoxville a thumbs up. :up:   Phil Hendra is the proprietor and is a genuinely nice guy. Phil is very knowledgeable and a good resource for beginning handloaders and seasoned rifle shooters.    They have a very good in-store selection of powder for rifle and pistols at very reasonable prices. (I picked up the last couple of pounds of Unique and 4 pounds of Titegroup and some other powders yesterday.), along with a wide selection of primers, ammo, and a growing selection of quality firearms. The prices are very competitive.   And Phil can get some darn good deals on items he may not have in store in short order. And his inventory has expanded quite a bit over the past couple of months.   I like supporting local business whenever possible...and not having to pay HazMat fees on my reloading components and being able to purchase them at Proneshooter prices? This knife will quickly become a favorite to carry. A few weeks ago I left home without mine and repeatedly was reaching in my pocket for it.

I am new to TN and stopped by this weekend just to check it out.  It is a nice little shop and Phil seems like a genuinely nice guy and a competent shooter.  I think he has earned my business for transfers and for the 'oops I ran out of X' while reloading.

I will sleep better tonight knowing this has been solved.

I'm always aware of my surroundings. I've been that way since my early years in the Martial Arts. That was a long time ago, but I developed the habit and it has stayed with me all this time. My wife tells our friends I've got eyes in the back of my head because of things I see sometimes. LOL. I've drilled it into her too and she does a pretty good job now. I still prod her sometimes though to get better. Congrats on being alert!! You can't defend against something you miss seeing.

Just goes to show that bad things can happen in the nice part of town as well.

I have been the Rage quit guy a couple times on the lake. I broke a big fish off last spring on Guntersville at the boat. Just about snapped the rod and thew it in the lake. I calmed down and managed.

Some of the classiest rifles ever built were on a Siamese action. They will hold just like a '98 will and chamber a 45-70 very well. It will take your 45-70 into "Ruger only" loads with ease. A 45-70 in a Siamese action will get just inside the threshold of a .458 win mag.

I got no issue calling somebody out. If they are a legit vet it's pretty easy to tell talking to them, but if I had doubts I'd ask for a DD-214, and would have no trouble producing mine if it's asked for. I have no respect or tolerance for people lying about military service. I've got brothers who are permanently scared and a few who never came home, and lying about it is disrespectful to them in the worst way. If she never graduated boot camp then she's not a veteran, and I'm not sure they even give DD-214's for failure to adapt in basic. Ask for help honestly and I'll give you the shirt of my back. Lie to me and I'll laugh at your calamity. 99% of the wounded vets I know have to have it pried out of them, and most veterans won't push their vet status out of humbleness Sent from behind the anvil

Couldn't figure out a way to hang a good weapon light on my Itty Bitty 5.5 inch barrel 9mm upper. So I fixed that problem by going out and getting a Colt 635 upper. :cool: Good thing I had some drop-in rails for it. I was planning on keeping it all old-school Iron Sight Retro...., but I'm thinking that Joe's comment about little tiny reflective dots might cause me to bring out the NVGs and an IR pointer!
