So thanks to 2.oooooh for the assistance and shop. I was able to get my lift installed and tires on. Just wanted to show it off [emoji16]

I had NoBanStan over today doing some reloading and we noticed some finished rounds were missing primers. I took the shellplate and primer feeder off the Dillon XL 650 to clean off the Win231 that leaked out and to inspect the primer feeder. Nothing seemed amiss, so we reassembled and put in some more primers and tried to hand cycle the feeder...nothing.   When we took the feeder tube back off it was apparent that a primer was stuck inside. Being smart we dumped primers out of both ends before going at it with a wood dowel. After "gently" pushing the stuck primer from both ends, I was able to push a stuck primer about 2-3" with the dowel before it just wouldn't go any farther. That's when we decided to measure the depth of the stuck primer from both ends and found out there was actually 2 primers stuck in there. One was 2" into one side and the other was 7.5" into the other side. The bonus was that there was at least one loose primer rattling in between them.   At this point a mere mortal would have called it a day and ordered a replacement primer feed tube from Dillon, but NOOOOOOO...I wasn't being out-smarted by a metal tube filled with explosives. I decided to proceed with a plan that under normal circumstances would require a 6 pack of beer, an audience, and the announcement, "y'all watch this". I stuck the SOFT PINE dowel back into the tube set it on the work bench and gave the tube a couple of what I thought were LIGHT taps with a rubber mallet. It wasn't until I heard a loud kaboom and NoBanStan screaming like a 12 yr old girl at a Justin Beiber concert that I realized this was a VERY bad idea.   Thankfully nobody was hurt and nothing thing was damaged besides my ego and NobanStan's underwear. Only one primer went off. There was no chain reaction of exploding large pistol primers and the tube didn't disintegrate into a dozen pieces of flying shrapnel. The wooden dowel kind of resembles the coyote's face after a failed attempt to blow up the road runner and the tube is scorched pretty bad inside. Suffice it to say, I have lost all interest in removing the stuck primers to salvage the primer feed tube and lessons were learned, albeit the hard way.   So, if you find yourself with one or more primers stuck in your primer feed tube and you absolutely MUST get them out...don't say you weren't warned.

Though I disagree about the screaming, the sudden boom was loud enough that I think I s**t YOUR underwear. Let it be stated for the record that the hammer was nay "our" idea. My idea was using consistent pressure with said dowel pin to extract the stuck primer. Thor over here broke out rubber Molinjor and decided to have at it.  :rofl:    All that being said, it took me about 10 minutes to stop laughing. I have to give Dillon props though, that tube withstood it. 

Till now! Made this for a friends Dad for Christmas and he loves blue, OK..... Wasn't real sure till I got it finished and I thin its growing on me! What do you guys say? I also think I like the way the beefy Copper tubes look against the blue material!

It's why I mentioned the part about burning down houses and whatnot. I do have experience with these types of people, and I've gone out of my way to keep them out of my life. It's why I would advise against any further involvement in your part. These people thrive on conflict, which is why they live in a perpetual state of drama. Even though you might not directly engage this person again, by being indirectly involved may come back on you, especially now that you've been in contact with the mother. Without knowing the entire situation, I'm going to assume the mother has a similar personality, and rolls in close circles with her daughter. While she might be on your side today, she might not be tomorrow. Either way, folks like this like to run their mouth, and loose lips sink ships. Best to make it clear to everyone involved that you are simply disassociating yourself from this person and moving on with your life. I sense the crazy is strong with this one. ETA: As Kid Rock once famously said, "I ain't straight outta Compton, I'm straight out the trailer." I know these people; they are my people. It's why I got as far away as I could. I don't understand the fears of modifications, etc for carry handguns. Why aren't the following ever worried about? Why did you purchase and carry a $1200 handgun. Was it because it would help you kill more efficiently? Why were you a member of your local range? Was it so you could practice killing people more efficiently? Why did you carry a Glock? Was it because you wanted to play being a cop? Why did you carry more than one round in your gun? Were you planning on shooting more than one person? Why do you have a flashlight on your gun? Is it so you can blind the people, giving you the upper hand while you murder them, I mean, worrying about a conversion barrel giving you trouble? Sheesh. I'll second this sentiment right here. Last year I got screwed pretty good after putting myself out there for someone who needed a little help. After getting burnt I swore I'd never take a risk to help someone unless they were family or close friends. Not two weeks after that I was in a situation which I needed some quick help. A complete stranger came to my aid at a significant inconvenience to themselves. If not for that person I would have been in for a pretty bad day. I never had the opportunity to properly thank him for it either. After that, I realized that I shouldn't change who I am simply because there are crappy people out there. While those people might take advantage of those like you and I from time to time, it's comforting to know that they must live with themselves. Folks like that have miserable lives due to the choices they make. If helping people out is part of what makes you happy, don't let aholes take that away from you. Don't feel stupid.  I've seen you do a number of generous things for people over the years.  Perhaps nothing is more noble than serving others, yet if you do it long enough you are going to get taken advantage of.  Chock it up as part of helping others and remember that your generosity may have resulted in a decent meal or a fun toy for a child that most likely leads a pretty bleak life.

I got no issue calling somebody out. If they are a legit vet it's pretty easy to tell talking to them, but if I had doubts I'd ask for a DD-214, and would have no trouble producing mine if it's asked for. I have no respect or tolerance for people lying about military service. I've got brothers who are permanently scared and a few who never came home, and lying about it is disrespectful to them in the worst way. If she never graduated boot camp then she's not a veteran, and I'm not sure they even give DD-214's for failure to adapt in basic. Ask for help honestly and I'll give you the shirt of my back. Lie to me and I'll laugh at your calamity. 99% of the wounded vets I know have to have it pried out of them, and most veterans won't push their vet status out of humbleness Sent from behind the anvil

This may not make most peoples list, but I have a Ruger addiction and like large bore calibers. I have been looking for a Ruger No. 1 in 45-70 for some time now, but have not been able to find one locally or at a price I was willing to pay. Yesterday I found one that met both criteria that was in great shape. I have never shot a No. 1, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it has one of the best triggers I have felt. I am suspicious that it has had some trigger work done, as there is no creep and is very light. It has Ruger rings, but I am not sure what I am going to mount on it. I have an older Leupold VX-3 1.5 by 5 that would work well, but it am seriously considering getting a peep sight of some kind. Any suggestions in this area would be helpful. I am going to have to sell some other firearms to pay for this per the agreement with the wife, but I couldn't be happier. That is fuzz on the checkering from the gun case I brought it home in.

My mother was a dependapotumus. After she and my father divorced she dedicated her life to playing the system and doing everything she could to keep my father in and out of court, although he had done nothing wrong. My father was a a naval officer and while he was a deadbeat in the term of humanity, he paid his child support. As an adult now, I fully understand why he was absent, my mother was as crazy as this woman this thread is about. I can't recall her holding a stable job my entire life, and she has been in and out of jail quite a bit. Unfortunately for this woman's children, I don't have much hope for them either. Of my five other siblings, I am the only one that has come out of that disaster and created some semblance of a normal life. Drug abuse, prostitution and physical abuse were things I saw daily and grew up with as 'normal and accepted.' We grew up in the trailer parks near military bases so my mother could ply her trade. Her third husband was in the Army until she managed to get him drummed out and ruined his life.   But she was always a victim.   It took me nearly twenty years after leaving home (and the foster care system) to get her out of my life. After watching most of my siblings follow directly in her path. I have a sister in prison, and she will be there for another seven years or so. I have a brother that is currently a fugitive, another sister that drank herself into oblivion and lost custody of her children and last I heard was living on the streets.   I removed myself from that life.   It is not worth the drama, and you can't fix what wants to stay broken.   My advice to the OP?   Move on, and forget any association with that woman.   If you cross her, she will make it her life to ruin you, and she has NOTHING else to do. That will be her job, and I am sure she won't mind the overtime.

The answer is that it depends lol.    I can get 1000 projectiles that I use for 70 bucks.  (cheap hard cast lead) I can get the brass for 9mm free off the range floor. A pound of powder loads many, many boxes of these for what, 35, 40 bucks now?  If the 9mm load takes 7 grains 1 pound makes 1000.  Lets just call that good enough to talk about. 1000 primers costs like 40 bucks.    So 1000 rounds totals out to be, for 9mm made by a cheapskate like me about $150.   1000 rounds is 20 boxes of 50.   That is $7.50 / box.   The rock bottom steel cased junk ammo is like 11/box, maybe 12 with taxes.   So in comparison:   I saved roughly 5 dollars a box to get brass cased, consistent and accurate ammo vs steel cased inconsistent ammo.  It takes me 15 min or less to make 50 on my turret press.   If I bought top shelf copper jacketed projectiles, bought brass, and bought top shelf primers, etc, my savings would go down of course.   The above is for 9mm which is one of the least expensive ammos in the world.  I save over 10 bucks a box on 380s. I save over 20 bucks a box on 44 mags or 45 LC.   I save tons on rifle ammo (not 223, its like 9mm and more work to make it). Etc.   9 isn't really the big savings.  But the difference in quality (accuracy) from my own made vs the cheapest I can buy is HUGE. 

People with drug habits stole these guns in burglaries and then traded them to him for dope. That’s what people on drugs do. A drug dealer bites the dust. Hopefully between the drug charges and the gun charges he will never get out of prison. Good job by LE.

LOL.   I'm certain you both were in total control and all events were actually planned and handled with expertise. :pleased:   I've had "sticky" Dillon primer tubes in the past, but hadn't had that particular issue before...thankfully! And my 550 is approaching 30 years of age. Dillon mailed me replacement tubes, at no charge, withing a couple of days of me e-mailing them about it. Their customer service is second to none in my book.     Comms...e-mail Dillon and they will no doubt get you fixed up.

Don't feel stupid about it. If you don't have a lot of experience around military people then it's difficult to detect BS when being told a story, especially since society has been conditioned to unquestioningly accept words of a veteran as gospel. Even without military experience, it seems you were able to detect that something wasn't quite right. At this point, now that you know, I would remove this person from your life in every way. Don't even think about this person anymore. Pathological liars such as this are a life sucking force, and do not deserve sympathy; sympathy is a tool they use to exploit good people. I use a Lee Classic loader to make .357 and .38 rounds.  The first time I set a primer off by setting it with mallet I pretty much about soiled myself.  Lots of fun. Big laugher once you realize what happened.   The grandson thought it was the best thing ever.  Me not so much.

I got my card in the mail today! Gawd, I think it was 10-12 days after I filled out the forms? Would have taken 9-12 months in NY, and I might not have even gotten it! Crazy... Wifey's all over this, she wants a compact .380, I think I'd prefer a 9 for-carry, and she wants to get a little .22 so the kids can come to the range w/ us, WTF! :love:   I was looking at the Walther's, as they have a range of .380's and 9mm to pick from, are reputable, quality manuf., etc., however I don't know of any ranges/store's around here that have 'em to rent? The one by me offers a try-before-you-buy, but it's only a few rounds, and frankly, I'd want to just go down-the-line and try half their inventory, LOL! I Don't even know if they have any Walthers? I'm starting to see why owning a 'collection' of handgun's is essential! Try someone's piece out on the range one day and you've just got to go get one!    I 'spose that's how swinger's get started?   I like the Bodyguard .380 S&W makes, that's a slick looking gun, and I can try out the M&P regular-size at my local store's range.. their compact-for-carry looks nice. So today we left the safety and warmth of our fence on the hill to run into town. I didn't feel like fighting the crowds in Cookeville so we ran into Algood instead. Still ridiculously busy at Walmart but nowhere near as bad as Cookeville. As we're leaving we pull up to the light to take the back way home. Suddenly 3 LEO vehicles go flying by, sirens everywhere. As we're waiting two more. At this point it's confusing because we're in Algood but I'm seeing Cookeville LEO's. So we start to guess. Due to the amount of LEO's we decide on robbery or homicide. But the amount of LE vehicles is just mind blowing. So we finally turn and I told Monkey to take a spin by his work to make sure the building is ok. Once we're on the road we see 8 more vehicles. And they just keep coming. Mind you Algood is tiny. Super tiny. So I'm starting to feel like we're back in Nashville. We spin through his works parking lot and check fences and all is good. Then we see a Putnam County Sheriff pull in an area and go up a ramp at his work. So being the good guy, Monkey pulls in, explains he's a manager and has keys and do they want to go inside the property? Deputy says bluntly "nope, he'd have to have gone through the fences if he's in there". THAT'S IT! So I start texting my friend who lives across the river and telling her what we're seeing because it's so out of the norm. On the way home we pass a THP and another sheriff heading to Algood. Crazy. Then I get a text. Officer shot. By some SOB strung out looking old man who had warrants out. Finally WKRN reports on it at 6pm. Nothing on WSMV. I'm angry. I'm angry at the lack of coverage but I'm really angry that it seemed appropriate to the idiot to shoot a LEO instead of going to jail. I don't want to say what's really in my head but if the SOB is "hurt" while being taken into custody, I'm totally OK with that. So much for leaving the action of the big city behind us!

Went out this morning and seen 5 Hogs. Two of them went "Wee, Wee, Wee", all the way to the cooler. This little sow dressed at 150 pounds taken during a LEGAL hunt . Have a blessed day! Dave

Close it's a 2014 458 Italia Speciale in "Rosso Coburn" a one off color ordered through the taylor made program in Maranello. It's an amazing color to watch as the light conditions change. Pictures don't do that car justice. Here's one from it out in the sun at Cars and Coffee .

You have the upfront cost of the equipment which can be very cheap (Lee) or several hundred dollars for a more durable brand or progressive setup. I no longer reload .40s&w but here is my 9mm price: Brass = free. I don't count it as it is range pickup and can be reloaded multiple times. Primer = 3 cents Powder = 2 cents or less Bullet = 5 cents - purchased lead bullets. Plated is slightly more. My 9mm loads cost me 10 cents per round. Cheap brass cased ammo at any store around here is 25-30 cents per round. So I shoot 2-3 times more for the same price va buying ammo. It all comes down to how much you will shoot. Only 1200 rounds a year is still potential for $150 or so in savings OR shooting more often.

Should it turn out she was indeed drunk; this was no accident and she should be charged with murder.

Went back out to MCSC with the intent of sighting in my BP rifle and GSG 522 as well as shoot my BHP. I also took my G-23, Ruger Mark III, SBH, and my XDs so a couple of friends could try them out. Sorry, no pics, but I didn't have to make any adjustments on the BP or SBH, but on the GSG I gave up, for some reason I could not find the tiny screw driver to adjust the red dot and when I was trying to boresight it I discovered that the parallax on that thing was terrible. Anyway, all three of us agree that the BHP is one nice shooting gun. We were all getting some nice groups and that thing just seems to return to the target on its own. I wonder if after it's detailed cleaning and storage for another long haul if it will more than double in value again ?.

if you are new to hand guns, let me point out that the trigger matters.    For example the sig p238 has a light, short trigger that is very easy to use while a lot of the other small 380s are kel tec clones and that design involves pulling a 10 pound spring over the better part of an inch every single shot.  Some of the walther and bersa etc guns are Da/sa which has a long hard to do first shot and easy follow up shots, not quite a hybrid of the first two ideas.    I love my sig p238 (and carry the 9mm version that came out later).   Heavy triggers are more difficult to shoot quickly and accurately,  so be aware.  Lighter triggers require a manual safety, and if you hate that,  its another issue.   The Da/SA tend to have a safety and you can choose to use it or not.   Its all preference (I like the easy triggers, clearly)  but be aware of it ... trigger pull is one of the more overlooked things by new buyers and its critical when choosing a small carry gun.   You are doing the right things, getting opinions and trying stuff out.  Take your time.   Selling a slightly used gun that didn't work out for you is a loss of 10-20% of your money every time.   We've all been there, and we will all probably do it again,  but it helps when you can minimize this expense.

(Still needs to be coated and that's it). ran some blanks through it and she worked perfect. Next, live ammo. Hopefully next weekend. I am a Vet and I have never walked through the doors of a VA hospital and never will. I have always paid for insurance for my medical bills for myself and my family. I have no use for anything the Federal Government has to offer me that I did not pay for or into first and they are looking for ways to screw me along with millions of other Americans out of their Social Security. They stole all the funds out of it and use them on pet projects. When Social Security laws were handed down it stated that no one except Social Security recipients were to receive funds from it. All that's left in the account are useless IOU's that no politician intends on paying back. If they ever sent me pain pills via UPS or any other carrier I would refuse them and make the driver take them back................... :mad:
