  3. Thanks for the feedback so far folks.  I'm not going to carry through with the idea.  It was cathartic to just get it out of my system.

  5. I vote keep it. Obviously you have emotional ties to it. It's not like an animal you don't have to feed it, it doesn't cost you anything if you don't drive it. New cars just don't have the soul the classics do. If I won the lottery (which I don't play anyways) I would have a TON of restored/modified older vehicles. Even if it's only rarely driven, keep it. You won't come across anyone else driving one just like it. There is a certain pride of ownership that comes with a built not bought vehicle that you can't get from anything else.

  6.   Well, I gotta admit I give BHO a bit more credence on this one that most of his decisions. Not that it ain't political to a certain extent, but to be fair, would a Republican president allow such an end run around the confines of sequestration for funding some part of government favored by liberals?  I doan thin so, Lucy.   The fact that it's the military is of course somewhat galling considering BHO's long onslaught of same, but then again, the Budget Control Act of 2011 had overwhelming GOP support in the House, so it's not like the military having to live within the same proportional constraints is suddenly some big surprise or anything.   - OS

  12. It's been a while since this happened but yes, we had someone post a bunch of stuff for sale and then try to reverse charges a few months later.  After going back and forth with the member's bank over it, I finally just told them to refund the person and I banned them permanently from the site.   The more I think about the notion of just taking the high road, the more I think it's probably the right idea.

Hello to all of you on the forum.  My name is Reid Henrichs and I am president of Valor Ridge.  We are thrilled to be on here, and want to interact and communicate with gun owners, supporters of the 2nd Amendment, and American patriots.  I love Tennessee, and I want to introduce myself and say what a great forum this is.

  14. I just finished this one up. High cut under the trigger guard and checkered at 30 LPI to match the mainspring housing. French border cut on the slide. I refinished in Norrell's moly resin to color match the original parkerized finish. Larger photo here: http://www.guntechtips.com/images/doc-sa-2.jpg

  16. I got an 86 Toyota truck my parents bought new. When my mom passed away and my sister was thinking of getting rid of it, I shipped it from California to Nashville because of the sintemental attachment. I have people leave me notes all the time about wanting to buy it and even though I don't use it enough, she's not going anywhere unless it will help someone out. Keep it.

  22. Made by Stellar Rigs. That particular model only made for a few small heaters. The Stellar above doesn't depend on any kind of friction or hook to stay in pocket. Gun just pops out from retention in holster when your fingers go in between grip and extra mag. So there's no further adhesion at all between gun and holster. Been asked that so many times I made a demo pic: I also have a Kydex holster for a J frame, which has a small flat "thumb stud", which you push against while drawing out of the holster. I also find that very effective, more so than depending on part of the holster to "hook" a corner of the pocket. - OS

  26. Well, I have tried about all calibers out there and I have settled on 380's for the most I feel comfortable with for Home and carry. I know a lot of people will say they are just not enough fire power but with the right ammo they do a damn nice job in a gel test. ...........jmho

  28. a friend of mine has a phoenix with 2 barrels, we used the long one.   It is quite fun to shoot, decently accurate and reliable.   That said they are not high round count guns and are prone to wearing out at an accelerated rate due to the construction.     I won a hi point 45 and its also great for what it is.   The trigger is good, the recoil is mild, it goes bang 100% of the time and the rounds land where you aim them.  Not tried their 22 but their guns work.   If I recall they have a solid service / warranty too.   I would prefer it over the phoenix.   That said, the same money for a new cheapo will net you a decent used one at a show usually.   I would seek out a S&W 22a model for a cheap target .22 practice gun.   I had one and loved it, and you can find them for pretty low prices used.  The difference between a new hi point and a used 22a is probably 50 bucks, if you can swing it.

  31.   Yep, could be! I'm wondering about all the crap the others are going through trying to get back "home" with a few thousand walkers rambling around the woods heading towards the same thing they are. The sound of the horn!!! The writers are doing a jam-up job to me and I'm thinking this is going to be a great season! I guess I've gotten over all the minute detail mistakes of TV and movies as a whole. I never really even see them. I try to stay "in the moment" of what I see on the screen and just enjoy it for what it is. Entertainment for the masses. LOL.

  32. The Smith & Wesson M&P9c has a 3.5 inch barrel.  Most manufacturer data are tested with a 4 inch barrel.  shootingthebull410 has done some testing using a 3 inch barrel Sig P938.  The shorter barrel and resulting lower velocity affect the expansion and penetration.  You might find his work interesting and compare with the Lucky Gunner data..  He likes the Fed HST best, but several others are close, not necessarily the traditional self defense rounds FROM THE 3 INCH BARREL.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA7FTjmLiQQ&list=PLgNSGOEQko_M90AMdRCDMgd-w4Yozc27i

  33. How about WE, as in staff, use the feedback system we have. If a member decides to be a turd behind the scenes leave him a negative feedback. With everyone having positives a negative would really stand out. We already have it in place and other members can see the feedback unlike our warning point system.   Or if you want you can turn me loose on them. I don't care what they do to me as I already have experience in dealing with internet turds and have all the time in the world to hold them accountable.

  34. Nice.   There is a (sport?)bra holster out there (maybe several by now), if you think that might work better long run, but if what you have is working no need to dump money into it.

  35. Hey guys. I wanted to say thanks again to Mike D. aka LawEnforcementSalesTN. A while back he offered a great flight simulator setup for fee in the Trading Post. I took him up on his generous offer and my now 15 year old daughter is 6 flight hours into her private pilot license! I just wanted to share this. I know I haven't been very active lately. I have been pretty busy and mostly too broke to shoot much lately. Here is one of the many reasons why. A pic of her very first lesson's preflight inspection: Thanks Mike! -southernasylum

  37. Ahh, brings back memories of the the good old days.  Like before a wife and children.  I could do anything anytime if I wanted to.  I made a landing or two at Mike Romeo Charlie (MRC, 3 letter identifier Maury County Airport.  I earned my certificate in 1988,  Av Gas was under $2.00 / gal. and a Cessna 152 was $40.00/hr. and a Piper Cherokee was $52.00/hr., both were wet meaning including fuel.  Somewhere around 1989 I bought a 1967 Cessna 172.  I thought I was big time when I purchased a used Northstar Loran ( state of the art form of GPS that triangulated position by radio signals designed during WW II for Naval ships crossing the Atlantic).  I married in 1992 and figured it was time to sell the Cessna. I made a decent profit in the short time I owned it.  A quick search shows these are selling for $30 - $35k now.  That's more than double what gave initially gave for mine.   Back then there was a thing called a $100.00 hamburger,  when you had nothing better to do so some fellow aviators picked a place that was within a non-stop for fuel flight,  fly there go to lunch and return home only to have spent $100.00 or more.  I guess these days it would be closer to $300.00 plus hamburger.  Best wishes that she earns her certificate.  She will have memories that will never fade and maybe inspire her to make a career out of it.

  38. Barely interested. Won't be seeing it in the theater. THIS coming from one of the biggest Star Wars fans TGO has ever had. Not bragging, just truth. Why? Disney. What did Disney do that's so bad you ask? Disney has come out and said that any and all expanded universe is no longer canon. Bull śhît!!!!!!!! I spent years reading. There are over 200 full length novels and stories that are ten fold more involved and in depth than ANYTHING Lucas ever did. Just the work Karen Traviss did with the Mandalorians and Clone troopers is massive. So they're gonna tell me that Grand Admiral Thrawn never existed unless it suits them? Eff You!! The Yusong Vong war? Jacen Solo becoming Darth Caedus? Boba Fett finding the cure for accelerated aging to save thousands of clone lives? Mandalore making a full recovery and the return of the Madalorians? Boba building the most elite and highest quality military manufacturing facility (Mandal Motors) surpassing even the Correlians for bad ass star fighters? Did Chewbacca NOT die saving Anakin Solo from a moon crashing into Serndipal ? (Okay, that would be nice) I could go on for hours and it's all for nothing? I hate you Disney. The Force is not in you.

  41. I also support the idea of a waiting period or post count minimum before listing in the classifieds. I've seen guns that I'm interested in but because they have no history on the forum I decided against dealing with them.

  42. I like the idea of a Hall of Shame for people who provided so much entertainment value here in threads that lead to them getting banned.     As for people stiffing you,  unless it is real common and not just the occasional act I'd take the high road and file it under the cost of doing business. Karma is a cruel mistress and those people will get theirs someday.

  43. I wonder if having a minimum post count would help? Don't make it a crazy number but requiring anyone who wants to sell something to have a minimum of 5 or 10 posts would cut down on those who register to dispute them.   Another option could be that staff approves all posts by those who do not have 10 posts.   I think there is a large segment of the population who does not believe it is stealing if it is done on the internet. I have had people try to dispute stuff with me even though I had a no questions asked money back guarantee. But I believe it was never about getting the refund and all about being able to keep what I sold them without paying for it. And if I could have convinced my local LE to I would have prosecuted every single one of them.   I would rather see a hall of shame with all the classic threads where people have lost their minds.

  46. I'm planning to make some belt sheaths for various hatchets and small axes and I made this prototype for my Wetterling's #115 Hunter's Hatchet. I'm looking for some feedback on it, including suggestions for improving the design. It's made with heavyweight saddle leather has a filler along the blade edge. I'm thinking the belt loop on the back can be improved by sewing/riveting on a wider loop. Any other thoughts?

  47. Great range toy.    As an old SF Weapons Sergeant told me at a live fire range in a former life...you need to treat the 249 like a bipolar girlfriend- finger f**k it to keep it running, and slap it when it's not working right.
