This may sound old, too simple or general but every time something like this happens, my first thought about "why" goes way back to when I really believe we lost our moral compass. We quit teaching our children responsibility and accountability. We took morals out of our schools and instead of supporting our teachers ability to maintain civility and control in their classrooms, we started sueing them for looking at our kids sideways. If I got spanked at school, I got spanked again when I got home. No questions asked. Our system of values went to "there is no absolute right and wrong". We look for someone to blame for our woes. It is no longer OUR OWN fault. When I was young in the late 50's and 60's, my father had firearms in the house. I was a small, skinny, nerdy kid who was bullied. But I NEVER, EVER gave any thought of taking one of my fathers guns to school to "settle the score". I know I am preaching to the choir here, but folks is isn't the guns. My dad's guns were never locked up but I knew they were not toys and were not to be played with or touched.9 points

Ugh ... For those that might remember my "fight", I was able to get Cleveland to conduct an administrative expungement within about four minutes, ... once I got to the right person on the phone - a helpful female detective who actually seemed to care, then thoroughly proved it to me. She pushed everything through CPD's chief, then I received actual raised-seal copies of my clear record for the city & county up there as she pushed it to Ohio's bureau of investigation with an overnight delivery & even shared the tracking number via e-Mail with me. She asked OBoI to please get the info cleared & pressed on to the FBI, & if someone would please fax said info to the the number I provided that I was given by the TBI. By the second week of August, my FFL told me everything was good to go. *phew!* I was heading out of town, then the next week was all Bristol, all the time ... Needless to say, I finally snagged my property here just over a month ago. Apologies for not posting my "ending" sooner. Now to chase down some more important info that really matters to me on here! Thank you for all the folks that shared great info & just plain 'ol good vibes - whether in this Thread, or via PM. Be well, ...8 points

I love how Putin "announced" it to BHO, sent some general to American embassy in Istanbul, telling them to have US planes clear the skies, as Russian air operations would start in one hour! This just after their little sitdown chat of a few days ago, where Vladimir gave no hint of things to come of course. He really does treat Barack like the putz he is. - OS5 points

+1 ANY conflict between Putin and Obama will result in Obama cowering yet again. On the plus side maybe Putin can force Obama to lift the sanctions so we can get cheap AKs again.4 points

They will still spin it to say we need to ban these "killing machines with ghost mag clips that go bang and shoot 700 bullet casings a second at high range very much speed!" Honestly this administration can get bent. All this PC crap, no one wants to take responsibility. This puke was probably on some sort of drugs because he was "depressed" Sally Rottencrotch wouldnt grease his chicken or had "ADHD" because he butt-chugs Monsters or Red Bulls. Then they will blame it on "big pharma" on the NRA, on Our Lord or on Donald Trump. The bodies arent even cold yet and fucktards like the Huff Post, Vice and our Salafist-In-Charge are politicizing it. Gun laws dont work. I have seen more NFA weapons growing up in the Bronx than legally. Every weekend someone I know has a another aquaintance that gets killed by someone and it doesnt even make the NY Post Obituary section. America is TOO used to blaming everything and everyone else, not taking responsibility and trying to make a political campaign about it. Fucking vultures. They can get fucked. Sorry in advance, but stuff like this pisses me the hell off. Prayers to the families and loved ones. ...Except the ATF agents there. Because the ATF can also get bent. A guy goes into the Canada Post Office to apply for a job. The interviewer asks him, "Are you allergic to anything?" He replies, "Yes, caffeine. I can't drink coffee." "Ok. Have you ever been in the military service?" "Yes," he says. "I was in Afghanistan for one tour." The interviewer says, "That will give you five extra points toward employment." Then he asks, "Are you disabled in any way?" The guy says, "Yes. A bomb exploded near me and I lost both my testicles." The interviewer grimaces and then says, "Disabled in your country's service. Well, that qualifies for extra bonus points. Okay. Looking at the regulations you have got enough points for me to hire you right now. Our normal hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.You can start tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., and plan on starting at 10:00 a.m. every day." The guy is puzzled and asks, "If the work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. , why don't you want me here until 10:00 a.m.?" "This is a government job," the interviewer says. "For the first two hours, we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No point in you coming in for that."3 points

I mainly hunt with Primitive Muzzleloaders and here is my lineup: 62 cal French Fussel De Chase (roughly 16 gauge) She's my squirrel gun when used with 80 grains of 3F and 1.5oz's of #6 shot. A patched .622 ball works fantastic for deer. Number 2: 50 cal Custom built Kentucky Flintlock Rifle. Very deadly and accurate. And as a last resort I'll break out the Old Confederate 6 pounder loaded with grape shot!! LOL Have a blessed day Dave3 points

Another (beware, joke noir): Doc tells patient he has bad news and terrible news, which first? Patient: Tell me the terrible news. Doc: I'm afraid you have AIDS. Patient: So what's the merely bad news? Doc: You're showing symptoms of Alzheimer's. Patient: Well, it could be worse, I guess. I could have had AIDS or something. - OS3 points

This is thinking out of the box and in return I believe they have created one of the best solutions out there for concealed carry, especially those who wear dress clothes every day. Easy access for you while making it virtually impossible for anyone else to get and without the need for retention devices that can slow down your draw. It also removes a lot of the issues with standard holsters and it also protects your firearm from the damaging effects of body fluids such as sweat or oil. Here is a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-hcS5hpMCM&feature=player_embedded2 points

He did what he felt he needed to do. I'd be politicizing it in his place, just for the other side. Even if I don't agree, and know his statements were misleading, I'm still not upset he said them. This thread got political at post #10, so why should we expect an actual politician to behave any differently? It's just the world we live in.2 points

I turned the TV to a different channel as soon as he came on, I can't stand to see that mans face and I refuse to listen to his propaganda, today was like another Christmas present to him, I seriously believe he gets excited about these tragedies just so he can exploit them to his Obamabots and non-thinking sheeple. I don't believe he has the slightest bit of sympathy for the families whatsoever. Watch for Hillary to be next soon. And don't hold your breath for him to comment about the recent assinations/murders of police officers since he's a racist cop hater.2 points

By the way, I have been pulled over several times in Maryland over the last few years and have never been asked about firearms. If you get pulled over on I-95, it is safe to assume you were driving very poorly because EVERYONE speeds, so unless you are 15+ mph over, you will likely be ignored. On the other hand, if you drive on county highways where the speed limit changes from 65 to 45 to 35 in a blink, you are far more likely to get pulled over for speeding because unless you live there it is very easy to miss a sign. Carrying a shotgun sounds like more of a liability to me than anything else. The chance of needing to or being able to deploy a shotgun from a vehicle is pretty low compared to theft of the shotgun or getting hassled by LE.2 points

Syria has housed a strategic Russian naval base for the Med for over 4 decades. Putin isn't going to give that up for the sake of not upsetting western powers; especially since using the term "powers" is misleading. The current US policy is that the Assad regime is bad, ISIS is bad, but anti-Assad moderates are wrapped in cloaks of righteousness. The reality is grey. Assad is mostly bad, ISIS is all bad, and the anti-Assad rebels only hate Assad slightly more than they hate us. Letting Putin keep his naval base maintains the status quo, and upsets nothing. Fighting a pseudo proxy war with rebels trained and equipped by US intelligence services/SOF is putting us in a position where we will be forced to react militarily eventually, or look weak. I'd prefer to avoid all that nonsense and suspend all support for anti-Assad fighters, telling Europe and the UN to lead the charge, and stop pretending we care about the plight of Syrian civilians: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Scary times we live in. We have had armored vehicles driving around just across the border from Russia or Russian interests for the last few years. We have been poking the bear way too long for them NOT to do something and I think the Russians going into Syria is part of that something. I just hope if the Russians do decide to do something that we do what we have been doing for a while and let it slide, at least for now. But I can see Obama doing something totally out of character in order to pick a fight so he can continue the systematic destruction of the US. Or perhaps all this was planned out last election when Obama asked Putin's mouthpiece for more time. Personally I do not believe the Russians are in Syria to help fight ISIS. I believe the Russians are in Syria to ensure THEY can control the country if we are successful in removing Assad. Makes one wonder what the Russians will do to prevent Assad from being toppled. Putin is an old school domination type Russian so he will try to gather as much property as he can for Russia while he is in office. The EU will not get involved and definitely will not choose the US over Russia because Russia supplies the vast majority of Europe's energy needs. The EU knows that if they piss off Russia Putin will cut off the EU's supply of energy in a heartbeat. He has already threatened it and is forcing countries to pay in advance for their energy when those countries are not supporting Russian plans. And with winter coming those threats to turn off the spigot hold a lot more weight. Just yesterday Russia started dropping bombs after claiming it will fight ALL terror in the region. The first set of bombs from Russia were not against ISIS/ISIL targets but against those who oppose Assad regime, including US backed and trained fighters. So, what will be our response to OUR allies being attacked? No matter how this plays out I can see a lot of bad things happening between the US and Russia. We want Assad out of Syria and Russia wants Assad to remain in Syria, what could possibly go wrong?2 points

This is just going to be a budget Mega Pistol build, so nothing too fancy. So far it started life as: Then I got the upper: Caught the Geissele SD3G on sale and figured it be perfect for a pistol build: Then I picked up a ALG Defense LPK: I screwed my bolt catch roll pin up and had to locate my other LPK kit to get that installed, so here is the next small bit of progress. Mag release, safety, trigger guard, front take down pin and hogue grip installed. Found my other LPK and installed bolt catch and Mega charging handle Now to order some more parts... I think what crossfire meant was that if you're using "I'm going trap shooting" as the cover story for why you have a shotgun, then you wouldn't need more than 2. Most trap/skeet ranges prohibit more than 2 being loaded at a time.1 point

In New York, even as a resident if you do not have a New York pistol permit you cannot even physically touch a pistol. The pistol permit classes in order to be able to buy a pistol involve BB guns and blue guns. Different world. I used to belong to a hunting camp in the Adirondack Mountains and the area puts the Smokies to shame. Beautiful region, great people, just 3-4 hours north of NYC. Most of the people in NY who don't live in NYC, Rochester, Buffalo or Albany are very conservative. For the most part, our New York brothers have given the middle finger to their misguided elected officials... look at how few people registered their guns for the SAFE Act. With respect to Maryland, just don't let yourself be an easy target. If you drive on the beltway and have confederate flag stickers, "keep honking I'm reloading" or other crap like that, you could get targeted by an overzealous cop. Do the speed limit, don't stop unnecessarily and use your head. I spent 30 years living in New England and the Northeast. The people that get in trouble are generally Darwin award winners.1 point

I'm Oh Shoot or OhShoot pretty much everywhere on gun related forums. Any brand name M16 type carrier should be fine. PSA name brand one is fine usually call them "premium" I guess, though they sell some that aren't PSA branded. Bolt failure is fairly rare even with cheapos, but of course it does happen, but it also happens with expensive ones too. Absolutely no reason to get a SIG or Shockwave brace unless you're gonna use it against the shoulder though (so make sure Mad Max Kingery ain't watching when you do ;)) - OS1 point
