A guy goes into the Canada Post Office to apply for a job. The interviewer asks him, "Are you allergic to anything?" He replies, "Yes, caffeine. I can't drink coffee." "Ok. Have you ever been in the military service?" "Yes," he says. "I was in Afghanistan for one tour." The interviewer says, "That will give you five extra points toward employment." Then he asks, "Are you disabled in any way?" The guy says, "Yes. A bomb exploded near me and I lost both my testicles." The interviewer grimaces and then says, "Disabled in your country's service. Well, that qualifies for extra bonus points. Okay. Looking at the regulations you have got enough points for me to hire you right now. Our normal hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.You can start tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., and plan on starting at 10:00 a.m. every day." The guy is puzzled and asks, "If the work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. , why don't you want me here until 10:00 a.m.?" "This is a government job," the interviewer says. "For the first two hours, we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No point in you coming in for that."11 points

An old Army Aviator was involved in a pretty bad crash landing. He was taken to the post hospital. Late in the night, he finally regained consciousness. He realized he was in the hospital, agonizing in pain. He found himself in the ICU with tubes in his mouth, needles and IV drips in both arms, a breathing mask, wires monitoring every function, and a gorgeous nurse hovering over him. He realized that he was obviously in a life-threatening situation. The nurse gave him a serious, deep look, straight into his eyes, then spoke to him slowly and clearly, enunciating each word and syllable, "You may not feel anything from the waist down." Somehow he managed to mumble in reply, "Can I feel your boobs, then?" AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!5 points

Complaining that Franklin Gun overcharges is like complaining about a politician telling a lie. You know'd that before you went in that place. Won't surprise me a bit one day when they start charging a cover charge to walk in the door.5 points

You know...frankly, since this appears to now be a "what I don't like about IDPA " I'll chime in........ I'm for the scoring change. Of course when I started shooting "practical pistol matches" our local club used IPSC target but scored 'em A zone 10 pts C zone 4 and D zone 2 instead of 5,4,2 so it put a big premium on shooting out the center of the target...as fast as you can. I'd like to see hits on non threats count a lot more. A hit on a non threat in this litigious society would be disastrous to you....should be in the game too. I'd like to go back to the early days when you couldn't wear gun company logo clothing (that'll piss off some sponsors) or camo because you were supposed to be dressing to conceal the fact that you were armed.....now the ONLY place in the world where people dress like they do at an IDPA match is.......at an IDPA match. I'd like to see an increase in the power factor to typical duty ammo levels because when they tell me at the equipment check at the Nationals that my generic ball ammo loads are "hot" that tells me that something is wrong with our power factors.....When a typical .45 230 gr ball load has a 195 pf yet a mere 165 is legal I have to ask WHY? ...what purpose does it serve for us to shoot "-P" ammo other than to give a skewed view of your performance with REAL duty ammo and make the match times faster? I'd like to see more CONSISTENT calls on cover. IPSC has foot faults...which makes it simple to call and to know what they are allowing and what they are not. The IDPA World match had 2 stages that had markers painted on the ground which made it easier for the SO to consistently call cover from a distance....and easier for the shooter to know whether they were actually "behind cover"....at least according to how the SO was seeing and calling it on those stages. They had another standards stage that required no cover, but it required you to shoot from within a "rectangular box border " on the ground where you had free run of the box but you had to stay inside it as you engaged targets. That too was EASY to call whether you were in it or not. The way it is now you just can't be competitive using cover the way we REALLY teach people to use cover so they don't catch a bullet on the two way range. So you can either stick your arms out there and half your upper body (which half of YOUR torso is the less important half?) and shoot fast and probably get smoked with a bullet in the real world or you expose an eyeball and a gun muzzle and get smoked on time in the match.... So you cannot expose a toe without being out of cover, yet you can expose your whole head, both arms and half your torso and still be "in cover" .....REALLY? I'd like to see holster rules changed to allow AIWB or anything else in front of the hip bones as long as it is concealed. So if you roll with AIWB and closed front concealment garment in real life you could shoot it in the game. But as it stands now if you want to compete in a world recognized action shooting sport carrying AIWB under your closed front concealment garment the way you do in everyday life then IPSC (USPSA) is your only choice. And I'd like to see grip stippling allowed on Glocks in SSP. How is it that Prag (who posts here) was forced to compete with his glock 19 against 9mm 1911s in ESP because his otherwise stock gun had some grip stippling? And now CCP is an option for him but he is still competing with ESP modified guns because CCP is essentially just "ESP short". Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when IDPA finalized the CCP rules allowing ESP mods..... And you can roll with an M&P with stippling because the grip panels are removeable but not on a glock because they are not? How is it not a competitive advantage if the panels can be removed but is if they can not? And one last thing....it gets a little tiring when match after match people look at you funny if you use your actual concealed carry IWB holster ... "Here's a REAL concealed carry guy" is not something that the SOs should be saying (that was the comment I got at the Nationals during the "concealment check") ....should we take that to mean that most of the other competitors are not REAL concealed carry guys and gals? If they are not then what does that say about the game? Wasn't the game ostensibly started to allow a competetion venue for "real " concealed carry skills and methods? And if the other competitors are not "real " concealed carry guys or gals then what makes one come to that conclusion? Because to be competitive you are going to wear a vest (and probably one made specifically for the sport not for daily wear) and an OWB holster...... not an IWB holster and for damn sure not a closed front cover garment...it just boggles the mind. They are always talking about "growing the sport" which is really code for "bringing in more money and attracting more sponsors".....that is fine as long as they are not compromising the integrity of the game. It seems they lurch back and forth between the "founding principles" and "lets make it more like USPSA" to get more sponsors.....they need to pick a direction and stick with it and drive in one lane...not all over the road......3 points

This is thinking out of the box and in return I believe they have created one of the best solutions out there for concealed carry, especially those who wear dress clothes every day. Easy access for you while making it virtually impossible for anyone else to get and without the need for retention devices that can slow down your draw. It also removes a lot of the issues with standard holsters and it also protects your firearm from the damaging effects of body fluids such as sweat or oil. Here is a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-hcS5hpMCM&feature=player_embedded2 points

Something just isn't right about this story. :squint: Was the Naval Officer under orders to be armed while in uniform off base? That is very rare in public, only done for security while transporting high value or sensitive items (or prisoners). Also, when you are under orders to be armed off base (off post for us Army guys) its a point A to point B sort of thing, so side trips to a Waffle House isn't part of the plan. Or...., was this some member of the Navy who was OCing his personal firearm. That would be against regulations. No personal item can be worn as part of the uniform unless its on an authorized list (like personal sunglasses, watches, rings, etc., etc.). I would also bet that the Navy has standing orders that its members cannot CCP or HCP while on duty and in uniform.2 points

I have a gripe about headlines like that. It gives the impression that Waffle House has a company-wide policy, which is inaccurate. It was a single restaurant owned by a moron. When I was a LEO, I was never told to disarm at any of the Waffle House restaurants I ate at. Now, if one wants to gripe about the general policy prohibiting firearms (except for law enforcement), that is a different story.2 points

Well if there going to do that then PE's need to be 6 seconds and NT need to be 10 seconds. A 3 score on a target and a PE being the same penalty means more speed reloads done, (bullets in dropped magazine). A stage shot zero down with a speed reload will be done faster than a emergency reload or reload with retention in most cases. I don't think it's going to slow or speed up overall stage times, because it's the same score just not divided by half.2 points

I posted over in the accessories forum asking a question regarding this firearm, but I figured I'd post here too... Anyway, earlier this last week my wife and I went to see a movie (Black Mass, really good, I recommend), and when we walked into the theatre we both noticed that they were searching people's bags. My wife (who is the least situationally aware person ever) mentioned it, and said it was probably due to now-trend-of movie theatre shootings. Well, when we walked into the theatre my wife pointed out a dude sitting down in the front, alone, hat pulled low, just... kinda flagged her alarm, as it did mine... We stayed for the movie, and obviously nothing happened. However, with this being a trend now, not just in theaters but anywhere really it got me thinking. I don't want to NOT go do the things we enjoy out of a feeling of fear, if we do that the terrorists (domestic or foreign) are doing what they intend to. So I've decided it's time for me to EDC a firearm, at least as much as I can. I've been buying guns for a while now, and even carried some, but call me naive or ignorant, I've never felt the need to actually have something to protect me and mine till recently... So I took a quick trip to the Nashville Armory... Looking forward to breaking her in.1 point

We will be hosting our regular IDPA match this Saturday at our Dickson range. I plan to have six fun and challenging stages for your shooting enjoyment. Come shoot all of the half second points you want while you still can. ? This will be part of the CCP IWB Challenge. Setup begins at 7:00am with rounds down range at 9:00. Help is always appreciated.1 point

You might read this from the NRA: https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-gun-laws/maryland/ Carrying and Transportation in Vehicles It is unlawful for any person without a permit to wear or carry a handgun, openly or concealed, upon or about his person. It is also unlawful for any person to knowingly transport a handgun in any vehicle traveling on public roads, highways, waterways or airways, or upon roads or parking lots generally used by the public. This does not apply to any person wearing, carrying or transporting a handgun within the confines of real estate owned or leased by him, or on which he resides, or within the confines of a business establishment owned or leased by him. Rifles and shotguns being transported in motor vehicles must be unloaded. A person may transport a handgun if they can demonstrate that the handgun is being carried, worn or transported: To or from a place of legal purchase or sale, or repair shop; Between a person’s bona fide residences, or between his residence and place of business, if the business is operated and substantially owned by that person; While engaged in, or traveling to and from a target shoot, formal or informal target practice, sport shooting event, hunting, trapping, or dog obedience training class or show; or By a bona fide gun collector who is moving any part or all of his gun collection from place to place for public or private exhibition. During transportation to and from the above places the handgun must be unloaded and carried in an enclosed case or enclosed holster. An additional penalty is provided for any person convicted of unlawfully wearing, carrying or transporting a handgun, if his deliberate purpose was to injure or kill another person. I suggest you know where and have in writing the location(s) of ranges. There is one in Timonium MD just north of Baltimore called Continental Arms. You might even go and keep your receipt as proof. You could also call the MD State Police and ask.1 point

I assure you there is no good news whatsoever regarding a Tennessean having a loaded firearm in MD, and since you aren't traveling according to FOPA, even unloaded with ammo in separate locked container could be problematic. Can you not go to Detroit instead? Equally dangerous, but at least you could pack. ;) - OS1 point

The constitution does not grant any rights. It recognizes and protects the basic natural rights every person should have. PJ is right, if you got fired for violating a policy against tobacco use, being too fat or whatever can be covered up by the "at will' employment laws of Tennessee. Any employer in Tennessee that does not show cause for termination cannot deny unemployment benefits either. But what has this to do with a public official openly stating his / her policy that is clearly a violation of constitutionally affirmed rights have to do with anything?1 point

If you want a place to walk around with the Mrs., you could go to Opryland Hotel. I usually recommend it for out of town folks because it's not everyday you see a hotel that size. Plenty of walkways to get lost in the indoor gardens. I don't suggest the mall next door however, unless you go to bass pro.. just don't buy anything since it's overpriced :) If you're going to be around during a weekday. get to Gabby's by 10:50am (yes, 10:50.. don't show up there at 11-12,and expect to get a seat) and have arguably the best hamburger in town.1 point

I ran some numbers on the World results last night and it didn't make a lot of difference for Expert and Master shooters. Fast match scores are not indicative of high number of points down. True Master level shooters aren't gaming, they are just that good. If I hear "this will stop the gamers" again, I'm going to slap someone. Haters need to man up and practice if they want to run with the big dogs. Picking on the World Shoot CDP Masters, and Jcoop (you're my idol), I recalculated the Match scores and Jcoop would have moved up one position. All other ranks remained the same in that division/class. The average PD for CDP-MA was 60 PD. Even with the PD change, the CDP Masters would not have touched DM Glenn Shelby.1 point

Probably hard to compete with a company that has been making the product for years, has tens of thousands in use, doesn’t have to pay licensing fees and has the manufacturing facilities already in place. Jobs for Americans in an American manufacturing facility, and an American gun company gets to stay alive; it’s a win for all of us.1 point

Live and learn I guess! Since I moved here five years ago I've attempted to locate a chimney sweep to professionally clean and inspect my chimney 8" x 8" clay flue pipe and wood burning stove. It seems "chimney sweeps" are a rare occupation anywhere around my area. In the mean time, I was cleaning out my flue and flue piping with your standard wire brush with extensions. Sure is nice to have a nice fire going during cold weather and ice storms. Last year I had a flue fire that got my double wall flue pipe so hot it was smoking. One of the other problems I had was on occasion the damper control would not work properly and the fire would all of a sudden start burning out of control. Closing the damper on the stove had no effect. I finally located a chimney sweep company an hour and a half from here in Jackson, TN. willing to come this way when they got enough business to make it worth their while. I'm here to tell you, that drill actuated weed whip cleaner they used put the brush I was using to shame. It got so clean it could actually visually inspected for any cracking. They found cracking in the clay flue pipe, I'm guessing probably because of the flue fire I had and maybe because of the out of control fires I experienced? So anyway, they're coming out this week to install a stainless steel flue liner, and I'll rest easier knowing it's safer. They inspected all the doors and seals to determine if too much air was getting in causing the out of control fires using a dollar bill. One side door they could pull the dollar bill out, and adjusted the door tighter. It took a little pressure to remove the bill so I can't see that being the source of excessive air entering the stove causing run away fires. Though I could be wrong and they are the professionals. I'm still thinking it might be the damper not closing / sealing adequately, but it's a bear trying to see anything from where it's installed. It's a 500 pound unit so there's no easy way to rotate it around to look where you need to look? Any of you experienced guys that own wood burning stoves have any ideas? Thanks!1 point

The first part of distillation is fermentation. Also most important. As a side project, and totally legal, learn to brew a drinkable wine or beer. In a SHTF scenario, beer provides some sustenance and vitamins(think monks in fast) and nothing microbial than can kill you or make you sick can live in beer or wine. As to fuel distillation, proper yeast will make you first run much more efficient. Look up turbo yeast, you can get into the high 20%+ abv from fermentation before the yeast quits working. Most beer/wine yeast can only get you to about 12% as will standard bread yeast. Champagne yeast can get you up to 18-20%. For fuel purpose finding a cheap sugar source is the hardest part. Learning to transform starch to sugar is what makes it cheap but requires specialized equipment(mash tun). In a true SHTF scenario, look into building a solar still, plenty of ways to distill without a "real" still. Double boiler is used in 3rd world countries to distill by millions everyday.1 point

39-17-1313 allows any permit holder to have loaded firearms in private vehicle any public or private parking lot. That includes schools. Has been legal for one or two years now, I forget. And now that it has just been amended, any disciplinary action by the school for doing so is not lawful. Although there is no criminal liability on school for doing so, employee may take civil action, so schools had best be very careful starting now (or whenever soon this takes effect). - OS1 point
