These pics were made with a Canon T5 Rebel and I'm still learning. Standing on the Bow River Bridge in Banff, Alberta. This is Spirit Island on Lake Maligne near Jasper National Park. 5. I stumbled across this article about FTWD written by a retired Army colonel. I thought it was an interesting read, and had some very good points: https://journal.ijreview.com/2015/09/248097-the-actors-on-fear-the-walking-dead-exemplify-everything-thats-wrong-with-liberalism/

  6. First, this wouldn't have been possible without Mikes help (Lawenforcement sales). Big thanks to him for all the help he's given me and work he's done. Next: I just finished it. (Still needs to be coated and that's it). ran some blanks through it and she worked perfect. Next, live ammo. Hopefully next weekend. Or I'll head up to strategic edge Monday or Wednesday to try it out if I have free time.

  7. At a Walmart, a man picks up a bottle marked "Gun Oil H2O" and assumes it's the kind you use to lubricate firearms. Well, following the adage, "This is my rifle, this is my gun. This one's for fighting; this one's for fun"......this oil is for the latter.   http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2015/09/23/man-uncovers-epic-hysterical-fail-on-walmarts-part-after-checking-out-gun-oil-product-at-the-gun-counter/

  9. So who makes the best AK? I'm trying to help guide someone's purchase of a new rifle. They are stuck between Arsenal and DDI. Is there anything that I should know about either brand that one of you has had experience with?   edit: They backed away from the whole AK idea and now I will be in the market for one once my AR sells.

  11. Coming at this as a serious gun carrier first, trainer second and gamer third I am glad to see it. If a hit in the abdomen is scored as only a half second lower than a round in the aorta then we are really not being very realistic with our scoring. We know that rounds in the area from diaphragm to neck are going to get best results with pistol bullets....everything else to the body is really a crap shoot as far as effectiveness. The target HAS already been changed once when they moved the minus 0 circle up a couple of inches. It used to be lower. So I think it is a good idea. And I would personally like to see misses more like 5 seconds (in the real world which idpa is supposed to replicate if you shoot it you buy it) and see hit on non threats at 10 seconds (or more) but I fear a lot of folks who just play it as a game and don't care about how it can be more realistic will not like it.

  17. There is a different breed of people geocaching today than there were several years ago. Back at the time this was placed I wouldn't have a problem with it. Today I would. The funny thing is I don't think the people like this stay in it long term. They are all in it for the numbers and miss the challenging and interesting locations. They get bored quick. You used to know every one or soon would. Today you don't know many of them.

  18. “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”   I’ve been playing the geocaching sport for 10 going on 11 years.  And, one of the very positive aspects of this game are the people I’ve me and befriended.  Prior to my consolidation of my work phone to my personal phone, there were more cachers in my contact list than family.  Outside of finding caches on private residential property, I have been to more homes of fellow cachers than members of the church I attend.   As a whole, we help each other out, via phone-a-friend, tagging along on cache runs and just plain ole fellowship.  Once, prior to a trip to Michigan, I contacted cachers in the area where I would be hunting and one replied giving me his phone number for PAF.  He asked about my agenda and on a Sunday, he suggested that we meet and I along with my daughter got a personal tour of Windsor, Ontario that was very enlightening.  When asked I have provided personal cache tours of my home region.  I have called upon my caching friends when my truck broke down in Millington, provided transportation from Memphis to Jackson when I returned from Kuwait on R&R and last year, asked a geo-couple from Nashville to keep my truck at their house as my family flew to Florida, saving me over $70 in parking fees.   Because of the game I have re-taken/taken up/ or increased my activity:  Scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and disc golf. As for my geo-accomplishments:    I am one of less than 1% in the game to complete the 81 terrain/difficultly grid. Have over 4,800 finds in total, occurring in four countries (US, Canada, Kuwait, Iraq ((last country earning me the title of combat cacher))), 26 US states and one district.    Been to and experience the sites of: Fall Creek Falls, TN USS Alabama in Mobile, AL Empire State Building, NYC Disney World Magic Kingsdom Alien Museum in Roswell, NM Southern most point in US Carlsbad Caverns, NM Grotto in Memphis St. Louis Arch Elvis Presley birthplace in Tupelo, MS Covered Bridge in Trimble, TN Lamberts in Sikeston, MO Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN   Battlefields at:  Yorktown, VA, Paducah, KY, Franklin, TN, Hartsville, TN, Nashville, TN, Confederate Mass grave near Hatchie River   Final resting places or places of death of: Chicken George (of Roots) Alex Haley Gen. Forrest Birdman of Alcatraz Stonewall Jackson (to include his main grave, where arm is buried and where he died) Johnny Cash Minnie Pearl

  26. Got this completed and I am happy with it! Now just to get some SMKs and start testing loads.... Savage 10T - this is a Cabela's exclusive, basically the 10FCP-SR but without the threaded barrel. 24" 5R heavy barrel, accu-stock, accu-trigger (very light break). Tactical bolt. Came with a 4 round magazine and I ordered an extra 10 round from Savage. Came with an EGW 0moa base. I took it off and replaced with a Seekins Precision 20moa base. The Seekins rings were sold out when I ordered, so went with the Vortex Precision Matched low rings (made by Seekins, were basically the same price). Harris 6-9" bipod, notched legs. I debated over a scope, was leaning towards a Vortex PST 6-24x50 as I think they are excellent quality and a great price. But I kept researching and called SWFA to get their opinion on the Vortex vs a Leupold VX-3 vs a Zeiss Conquest HD5. They suggested the Sightron SIII which had popped up in my research multiple times, people saying it was a much higher quality glass than Vortex. SWFA had a demo model of the Sightron 6-24x50 MOA for a great price so I snapped it up. 30MM MOA/MOA non-illuminated (model SIIISS624X50LRMOA). I took it out today after mounting everything and put 60 rounds through it. Using the bipod and a rear bag I dialed in at 100 yards (a couple groups below using PMC 147gr, Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr and 175gr) and then rang some steel at 300 yards. Now I just need to get some loads worked up and more range time. I still have 10 of the 175gr Gold Medal Match and will try to get some reloads done before next range trip. But I plan to take my Caldwell front bag and use it instead of the bipod to get a truer feel for what the rifle will group at. Shooting groups off of the bipod and Caldwell rear bag at 100 yards. PMC 147gr FMJ, 5 shots: Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr (Sierra Match King), 5 shot group: Federal Gold Medal Match 175gr, 5 shot group: Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr, 10 shot group:

There are always new shooter there for IDPA and is a welcoming environment. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm in Dayton just up the road.

  29. I recognize your explaining how you handled a situation on your own property where you were armed with an AR-15 and slung it muzzle down across your back when you observed the police arrive. Firstly I'm glad no one was injured. Secondly you have drawn as large a target across yourself as possible and cannot see what you've done. My first advice is remove the cache from your yard soonest. My second is to never, I repeat never go outside of your house armed to confront or investigate an intruder, particularly if your spouse is calling the police to report same. Had one of those kids been shot by the police it would have cost you everything you own. Had the police shot you once they noticed you moving with a rifle they would have been absolved. I personally think geo caching is a good thing but young people and newcomers who are bored don't pay attention to the time of night. You are far luckier in what happened in this incident then you realize. Take the good with the bad and hopefully learn something yourself here.

  37. Just drop the entire engine and trans on the k member.  Disconnect all engine and trans wiring.  unbolt k member.  Jack up car over over k member and roll it all out from under the car.  Then you have tons of room!

  39. David nailed it... Unbolt the trans cross member and place a jack with block of wood under the front side of the oil pan (if weight of trans doesn't tilt it down anyway) where the bolts are (not the pan itself or you'll bend it) and try to get the motor to tilt slightly down in the rear. Once you do that, you will be able to get to the bolts with extensions and universal sockets. I pulled the auto 4.6L 2v 4r70w out of mine by myself and swapped in in a Tremec 3550 (now called a TKO), so I know it can be done.

  43. I mean no disrespect, but chances are it's not the Glock that needs some fine tuning.  My Gen 4 groups plenty tight and is plenty accurate.  The shooter behind my Glock's trigger had to learn to shoot it though.

  44. +1 for a J frame.   As for semi-auto, I enjoyed shooting the Shield I tried but it just wasn't the right shape to fit a pocket.  Very difficult to get out of the pocket without snagging something.

  45. It's not Crisco.  It's obviously a vegetable based oil because they clearly state that it's NOT petroleum based and is bio-safe.  If it were Crisco, Fireclean would be facing serious patent issues submitting someone else's product as theirs and calling it something else.   The infrared spectrography  analysis also does not show a 100% match between the two.  Further, that type of testing is not ideal for determining precisely what is in a product and at what volumes.  Again, Fireclean is obviously a vegetable based oil product however the exact formulation could be significantly different between Crisco, Wesson, Fireclean, FP10, etc.   Regardless of all of this, it's pretty clear that it works well.  I've been a fan of Weaponshield for almost 10 years now but recently tried Fireclean on a few handguns and it cleans up easier than anything I've ever seen before.

  46. I for one do not rely on Police for my personal safety.  I can not afford to hire one to sit at my elbow, or escort my disabled wife to Wal Mart.  In the few seconds a crime takes to occur, one can just about bet that they will be acting alone in producing any safety.  I live 15 miles outside a very dangerous City, I am sufficiently aware that I will be required to "hold the fort" till help arrives should an incident occur. There are 12 homes in close proximity, we are lucky to have a young Police Officer (former Marine) who lives out here, he helped organize our Neighborhood Watch.  When the tornado hit us in 2011, he and I did a house to house, luckily no one was injured.  The neighborhood cut all the trees up (young preacher from the local Church was up at daylight with a chain saw, we did not quit till the roads were clear) and hauled them off, we had no assistance from the County, State or the federal government (16 days without power) never saw a "government" vehicle or employee.
