As long as it is a two way street, I agree. What's funny about this board is it seems everyone thinks they are the victim. Those who are religious think those who are not aren't respecting their religious beliefs and those who aren't religious feel like they also aren't respected for their choice to not believe. It isn't just about religion. The same can be said about the political threads. In the end, people just need to learn when to stop and simply say, let's agree to disagree and move on. It's actually pretty simple.4 points

Absolutely. And it's still a crime in DC, unless one of the court decisions there have changed that. Quick story about the "logic" of stuff: years ago I was walking out of a Wally with bunch of 9mm, bag broke right there in entrance way and a hundred box spilled all over the place. One woman pointed and literately screamed, "BULLETS!", people were backing back out of the door, couple of employees come out, general whatnot ensued, I kid you not. - OS4 points

You think they'd drive them GoogleMobiles down a long secluded gravel drive in the country in TN? Their knees would be knockin and be thinking Dueling Banjos. :) - OS3 points

I got the idea off instructables here http://www.instructables.com/id/223-Survival-Whistle/ . I have since improved that a bit. I have been using leadless solder and JB Welding the 22LR into the 5.56 case neck. I did away with the lanyard part and drilled the primer and JB Welded a cotter key in. This is the basic flow of how I have made them, and the last is I have been playing around with acid etching them. Get a credit card with no fees and pay it off every month. Doesn't matter who you get it from as interest rates are irrelevant if you read the first sentence. If you need a limit, you don't need a card, but tell the CC company of your choice and what you want.3 points

I think that the Politics and General Chat sections are good for what they do, and that is foster a sense of community among our more "dedicated" members. There is also a lot of value in the diversity of opinion and train of thought from the members on very relevant topics, that I enjoy very much, even if I don't always agree with what's said. For me at least, there is only so much gun related to talk about, and there isn't as much new topic material as current events can bring in. It also let's me get to know members (as best you can from an online interaction) far better than talking about a single topic. For my money, it's quite clear that you guys are more than willing to let people have warnings, and give them the time to adjust their behavior as needed.3 points

Here are some pictures of what is in my "get home" bag. The first column has the nitrile gloves at the top goes into the small, easy access pocket on the outside at the top. It has very, very basic first aid items like veterinary wrap, band aids, feminine products, suture kits and finally a broken shell extractor. Column two are the two spare steel magazines which go into the bigger outside pocket on the front. Column three is my blow out kit that will go on my belt if I think I might need it. But when not in use it is in the first big compartment. And under the blow out kit is my "toolkit". Column four is the continuation of column three and another set of nitrile gloves, hearing protection, a Bic brand fire starter :), fingernail clippers and some survival cards. Columns three and four fit into the first big compartment. Column 5 is what goes into the final compartment. More gloves, another tourniquet, more first aid items, spare battery, ink pens, electrical tape and range finder. I did not realize my binoculars were not there until after I took the pictures. I also carry Orajel for a few reasons, it is obviously for any type of tooth injury but it also works on other minor wounds as well that might be a little painful. If I have a deep splinter I generally open it up a little then pack it with Orajel before trying to remove it. Works great on blisters as well. The Lifestraw, fire starter along with the baklava are all stored in the compartment for hydration systems at the very back. The flashlight and knife are on the outside. These are in addition to the other ones I generally carry. I also have a machete I carry as well but it was accidentally left in the truck. This is my blowout kit. It has most things you would need to stabilize all but the more serious wounds. It also has another tourniquet. This is my "tool kit". It has most things I would need to do basic stuff with. In the globes are patches and panty hose. In the upper bag are rubber bands. There is another pen and it is wrapped with duct tape. A Bear brand fire starter. Nut drivers, screwdriver along with bits. 550 cord, AK cleaning kit along with brush, home made Boresnake and a pair of pliers along with an adjustable wrench. And all of that fits nicely into the bag for it. This is an escape card. It has the tools to shim handcuffs, cut tape as well as pick locks. But on top of that everyone should have a handcuff key. This is a survival card. It has fish hooks, a saw, needles, snare locks or spoons for lures, pointed and blunt arrow heads as well as a gig. They are designed to be broken out of the card and used. These are the size of a credit card and are made out of stainless steel. And the whole pack weighs less than 12 pounds. I will say there are a few more things that did not make it into the picture. Heavy duty, as in contractor, trash bags. They can be used for so many things. They can keep your stuff dry or it can collect water. Slit the bottom and the sides and it becomes a poncho. Slide your feet into it when in a sleeping bag and it will keep you so much warmer. You could take two and split them and tape them together to make a shelter. Something else that will probably make it into the bag as well is some short range two way radios. I also have a solar powered cell phone charger that is in the bag as well. And I still have plenty of room for a jacket, poncho or liner or something else to keep me warm at night. And remember this is not a survival bag but a bag to get me home which will almost always be less than 25 miles. So, realistically, lack of food or water should not be an issue. Shelter and staying away from the bad guys is. And this bag is the year around bag, if we need more items because of the weather or some other reason it will get tossed in the vehicle. This is what stays by my side every day, all day. That is an Romanian Draco with a 7.5" barrel. I drilled and tapped the rear trunion for a Stormwerks AR15 style hinge to mount the KAK tube for the Shockwave "brace". The gas system has been tuned to reduce felt recoil and the trigger has been reworked resulting in a two stage trigger that breaks at a crisp 3.5 pounds. The gun itself weighs 7 pounds 13 ounces WITH the 30 round magazine and sling. That is a chopped down Saiga rifle forearm with a sling swivel holding it in place. US Palm grip with a gutted piece of 550 cord between it and the receiver to act as a ambidextrous sling point. The only thing left to do now is open up the rear sight once I get to the range. It is zeroed at 25 yards but I want to confirm at 100 or 200 yards. And the best part is this is a pistol so I can LEGALLY carry it anywhere a HCP holder can carry a pistol. Heck, I could sling it across my back and legally walk around but I would never, ever do that. Just saying that this is just as legal to carry as any other "pistol". I welcome any and all questions or comments.2 points

I tried desperately to get my kids to call my in-laws meemaw and peepaw. Mostly to annoy my mother-in-law. She decided before they even arrived that she was going to be picky about what they called her, and that bugged me. Alas I was unsuccessful, but I gave it a good try. :D My parents and my Father-in-law couldn't care less, "I don't care what they call me as long as they call me."2 points

What they said, get a "no fee" card or two and pay the balance in full every time without fail. It's not a credit card, it's a convenience card. As in, you have the cash, just not on your person. I've had the same credit card for 25 years and have never paid a penny in interest. Get all your power, water, phone, TV, Internet, etc. all in your name, and pay the bills on time every month.2 points

Yes, don't worry about what interest they are charging you. Worry about what benefits they are giving you. If your intention is to ever carry a balance then you shouldn't have one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

If you are reffering to the first link, that is basically 100% exactly what you asked for. It is a financial website that compaires checking accounts, savings accounts, financial acocunts, and credit cards. If you are reffering to the second link, pardon me if I thought I would spend a bit of my time typing up a detailed way that anyone on TGO with an iPhone 6 and a Discover Card could get 10% back. Seeing as you are technically proficient, I assumed there is a 50/50 chance you have an iPhone (iPhone vs. Android, etc). If you were eligible for it I really didn't think you'd find better than 10% cashback on some purchases. It might not get you there but neither will a job. Just like a job, car, gun, etc, a credit card is a tool. If used intelligently credit cards are great. Lets pretend that you are anti-credit card. Lets say you have $3,000 in your checking account. Lets say that someone skims your card number at the atm/gas pump. Lets say that they then withdraw every penny of your money, leaving you with $0 in your checking account. Now, lets pretend that everything goes smoothly and they decide that you weren't liable for this. It could still take weeks before you get your money back. What about bills that are due during that time period? With a credit card (and trust me, it happened to me because someone stole my Discover Card and purchased an account at Christianmingle.com), if someone steals your card number and makes purchases, you are not liable. Discover contacted me that night telling me something was weird and to call them. I called them, was informed that just an hour ago someone created an account at Christianmingle.com, asking if I did that. I told them no I did not. They canceled the card number and sent me a new one overnight. Sure, I had to swap a few automatic bill pays to the new card number. There is no way jose that it would have been that easy had they stolen a debit card number and actually stolen all of your money in your account. I'm just a huge proponent of credit cards. I understand that some people cannot use them responsibly. However, if you want to be responible then get a credit card and use it responsibly. There are too many benifits to using a credit card not to have one.2 points

Wouldn't be the worst thing to ever happen. No one here is gonna change who they are on account of someone elses post. Likewise, in all the heated discussions, name one thing that has ever been accomplished? With the exception of a few business establishments taking down gun buster signs, I don't recall one single political/religious problem being solved through a TGO discussion. Myself included; Maybe we should just leave these discussions alone altogether. I will say this, please don't stop posting pertinent news and current goings on. I don't watch the news and I'm too lazy to search it out on the interwebz. I get a LOT of my current events right here.2 points

I hope this isn't a true litmus test of the direction the forum is going. I really like this place. I wish we could talk more guns and less politics. Not absolutes, just more of the good and less of the :wall:2 points

That's asinine, I could perhaps see some reasoning in not allowing kids to have live ammunition at school but shell casings? They are completely harmless. I think when I was in school back in the 90's it would have probably been confiscated and the student sent back to class. And we all had inert ammo key chains. Of course those of you old enough to remember when it was okay to leave your deer rifle or shortgun in your gun rack at school really had it made plus you guys never even shot a school up.2 points

There are many teachers and staff including the Principle and SRO have whistles that I make from 5.56 brass. As a matter of fact most teachers use said whistle to call the kids in from recess. I hear them being blown as I sit in line to pick up my boy. Our school is cool. :)2 points

It may not be considered kosher by some, but since I use YNAB to budget every dollar that I have and generally only use my checking account to pay credit card bills, I have my bank setup to automatically pay the credit card upon bill receipt each month. I technically (unless there is a technical glitch of course) cannot miss a payment. Then of course I have YNAB setup to automatically create a new transaction for each bill at the same time each month (roughly the same time it is received). Since I YNAB just about every single day, I have a 2nd line of defense that would work against technical glitches. However, remembering to manually pay one credit card bill is easier to pay several other bills that are setup on auto-pay to the credit card.1 point

How about we talk about EVERYTHING in the press release for a minute? I'm now saving pennies for the Maxim 9 now. An integrally suppressed 9mm pistol that fits a standard holster and is hearing safe? That's huge. Technology will progress and it will become smaller and more aesthetically pleasing. If you remember the laser sight from the first Terminator, was the size of a hunting scope and required a belt mounted battery pack. Now they are so small you don't even know they are there. Pay attention to this technology. I think this is the next big thing. How about the micro Osprey .22 suppressor? That's tiny. Pocket pistol tiny. And it's modular like the Salvo 12. Make it short if you need to or long if you want more suppression. The Hybrid is what I like the most though. A .45/70 suppressor! I looked a few months ago for one and NOONE makes one, and only a few make .458socom suppressors and they are massive and small companies. How about the Radius? A rangefinder effective out to a mile that mounts on the firearm rail. This is pretty big as well. Lots of cool stuff coming out of Silencerco lately.1 point

My 99 Savages have safeties, but no visible hammer. The half cock position on the hammer hsda been safety enough for over 100 years on a Winchester or Marlin lever rifle. The fellow told you correctly on how to cock the hammer without making noise. The best safety for a gun is the one between your ears.1 point

My apologies for not getting back with you guys sooner. I spoke with the Officer who handled the bids and he said we had fired approx. 5,000 rounds (.40) through the 320 before "the trigger seized". Apparently the weapon would fire one round and not re-cock, causing it to be unfireable. I would like to add that the 5,000 rounds were not shot concurrently, but in 500 round (approx) sessions.1 point

A lot of what Dolo and the other keepers of the house are addressing is covered in the sites rules of conduct. We all agree to abide by them when we join and post. Big boy rules and all that. Bottom line, if dissenting opinions offend you, or will cause you to be less than neighborly, Political and General chat may not be your ball of wax.1 point

Gen 3 Glock 19 FTW!!! I'm not a fan of the Gen 4. Also If this is your first gun you might like the Glock for how super easy it is to field strip and clean then put back together. Just a thought :)1 point
