Start naming good Muslims. I mean living ones by the way. Short list. Fug 'em all. No other collection of people on earth could go extinct and benefit mankind any more than them. Not even close.5 points

Just because they're Muslims doesn't mean they're extremists, and they are still human beings. If they're innocents I feel bad for them. If they are extremists I don't. :shrug:5 points

Call me a bigot, xenophobe, or what ever you will. This act was committed by Muslims. Until I can personally get a handle on exactly who is a good Muslim, and who is a bad Muslim, I'll not be real keen on any of them. Furthermore, I'm against importing them into our country. The people fleeing Syria you see on the news look to be mostly able bodied men of fighting age. They should be in Syria helping to sort things out. I don't see any good coming from bringing them here.5 points

Yeah, I try to avoid him and his significant other, Joe. Looks like someone gave ok' Harry Reid a good ass whipping, deserving so. I wish the majority of our elected officials would take a similar fall but off the top of the Washington Monument.3 points

Considering some of my posts and avowed feelings, I find myself a bit of two feelings on this. As a person who wants to be Christian, and should care for the life of every single soul on this planet; I do find myself thinking of "just deserts" in this case.3 points

I still taste it and smell it when I close my eyes at night. I'd love for my memory to fade, but it won't. It can't. We've squandered the memories 2977 people who lost their lives that day.3 points

I guess that I don't assume the worst in most people because given time they prove it their self. In this case that isn't possible.3 points

The book of Eli. I think humans would quickly devolve into roving bands of marauders and warlords would take over there sections quickly. Also, after 30 years, ammo would have to be becoming scarce, and blades would very much come back into play. Sent from the backwoods3 points

A while ago I was watching a news broadcast in which President Obama was addressing the United States Military. I tuned in just as he said that the military and he shared a common this and a common that and a common something else and a "common conviction that America is a force for good in the world." I don't think I've ever shouted "bovine droppings" quite that loudly before. Isn't he the guy whose entire socio/political philosophy has revolved around the belief that America has been the world's biggest merchant of strife, and didn't he just about wear out Air Force One going around the world apologizing for our country's role in same? Man I hate it when I catch someone thinking I'm stupid, and I catch this guy darn near every day. The bad part is - I think he actually believes his own bovine droppings any more. OK, end of rant. I kept it clean, TGODave, and it wasn't easy. Believe me it wasn't easy. :wall: EssOne2 points

I know a few that are really great people. One is a Palestinian with whom I had a lengthy discussion with concerning Palestine. He explained a LOT about the situation there and how Yasser Arafat used his people to bilk the Americans out of billions of dollars over the years. Those that could got out; those who couldn't were oppressed by Arafat with the blame being placed on America. New leaders are doing the same. Another dude is a Pakistani. He gets visibly agitated over what the extremists do when it's mentioned. The guy is a soft-spoken family man...period! Some of these statements are like claiming all Christians are White Supremacists. :shrug:2 points

In 2000, after five unanswered mailed requests, the census bureau sent a census taker to my house. On his fifth visit he caught me outside my home on my tractor. I told him I'll pay the $100.00 and to send me a bill. He left and I never heard another word from the census bureau. 3 U.S. Code § 221 - Refusal or neglect to answer questions; false answers (a) Whoever, being over eighteen years of age, refuses or willfully neglects, when requested by the Secretary, or by any other authorized officer or employee of the Department of Commerce or bureau or agency thereof acting under the instructions of the Secretary or authorized officer, to answer, to the best of his knowledge, any of the questions on any schedule submitted to him in connection with any census or survey provided for by subchapters I, II, IV, and V of chapter 5 of this title, applying to himself or to the family to which he belongs or is related, or to the farm or farms of which he or his family is the occupant, shall be fined not more than $100. (b) Whoever, when answering questions described in subsection (a) of this section, and under the conditions or circumstances described in such subsection, willfully gives any answer that is false, shall be fined not more than $500. (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, no person shall be compelled to disclose information relative to his religious beliefs or to membership in a religious body.2 points

I think this video is one of the best to help you decide on a safe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltK-bDbADa82 points

Let me say though, that safe will hold 2 shotguns, 2 rifles, 2 ar's and a few pistols comfortably without scratching the shit out of something. If you are even close to that you should go out to tractor supply when they put their Cannon on sale from 1k to 600 bucks and buy it. My dad has one and it has some room in it. They discount it twice a year. Black friday and fathers day. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk2 points

I try hard to feel the same way. I've known more than a few Muslims, all of whom I thought to be good people. However, the conspicuous silence from the "good" Muslim groups is telling. When the Westboro Baptist folks started their antics, many other Christian groups were quick to say "we disagree, they don't speak for us." While I haven't been looking, I also haven't seen or heard any other Muslim group speak out strongly against ISIS, Taliban, etc. That's curious. Perhaps they're afraid of making themselves the next target? I also find it curious that ISIS hasn't moved into India. After all, aren't Hindus infidels just like Christians? And India is right next door.1 point

I had just sat down at my box in home office, cranking up my workday at the time, had CNN on when it started. This morning starting at exact same time, 8:53, MSNBC replayed NBC's live coverage of that day, without commercial break, till noon. First time I've seen it like that since the actual event, and it was damn near as chilling as watching it live back on that day. Dan Rather pegged my sentiment when he said early on, like (paraphrase) "this changes America from this moment on in ways we can't even yet grasp". - OS1 point

I got it too. Basically said My address was randomly selected for it blah blah blah. I've thrown away two notices and the whole big booklet they sent. I don't have time for that crap. If I wanted to do a survey Id do one that enters me to win something, yeah sure. They threatened to send an agent out to do the survey in person. I work 12hrs on night shift so I would be gone in the evenings that they might come in. But if not, may God have mercy on them if they wake me up trying to sleep, because I surely won't.1 point

As I've mentioned in some other posts I've recently gotten a boat and started fishing OldHickory lake again. Last time that I actively fished the lake on a regular basis was around 2002 or 2003. I'll fish for anything, I'm eventually wanting to get after some rockfish but I need some bigger gear first. For now I'm fishing for bluegill, catfish, bass, and I troll for stripe when the family is out with me because they just want to ride around and don't like it when I stop and fish. So, I've made the following observations now as opposed to 12-13 years ago. 1) I'm catching more bass and they are bigger! I credit this to the 15" minimum limit and the 5 fish creel limit put into place several years ago. It looks as if it has finally had enough time to make a difference. I haven't gotten to do as much bass fishing as I would like but I'd say my average bass is around a pound while 12 years ago the average was maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound. 2) I'm catching more catfish. Not necessarily bigger catfish but more smaller ones and that's fine because I prefer to eat the ones under about 3 pounds the most. 3) This one puzzles me but in the panfish arena I'm only catching very small fish for the most part. It's rare that I catch one that is big enough to clean. Years ago I separated them as I caught them by cleaning size and catfish bait size. There were always plenty that were big enough to clean but not anymore. I caught about 60 Friday evening and 3 or 4 were big enough to clean. Maybe that's why the bass are bigger and there are more of them? If that's so why are the smaller panfish plentiful? 4) The number of gar has drastically increased. It used to be rare to see one now I can't hardly fish a bank without seeing one. 5) I see a lot of really big fish jumping in the middle of the lake, I haven't figured out what they are but I'm talking at the very least 20 pound plus fish. I haven't tied into any of these while trolling, I've also thrown Rapalas out in the early mornings but have yet to hook into one of these huge fish. 6) I've caught several large skipjacks while trolling like 2+ feet long and probably 4-5 pounds. Never really remember catching them before on that body of water. I never thought about the lake being any different to fish than it used to be but there certainly are some changes.1 point

I am not disagreeing with you. There is a message of hope and redemption, between father and son. If you are looking for uplifting, not the book for you. If you are looking for a thought provoking well written novel, it fits the bill. I am also a Cormac McCarthy fan. I had read most of his other books when I read this one. If I started with The Road, I might not feel the same way I do about it.1 point

Very bad day, country was never the same, Patriot Act, DHS and unlawful searches, 100 mile non Constitution zone at the borders. Muslims in our government making the FBI and law enforcement not look into their actions. Hell, a muslim got elected as POTUS.1 point

get the biggest, heaviest, toughest thing you can afford. The major brands produce good quality but the price points do mean something -- space, fire resistance, theft deterrence are all going to go up with price (not necessarily linearly, but better is still better here). Make sure to have some room for a few papers and other valuables. A good safe can last generations... think of it as a heirloom of sorts as well -- barring someone trying to saw into it or a fire, there is no reason one would not last 500 or more years; mine is my dad's ... from the 80s, looks like it was bought yesterday (its a liberty). The one I have is the presidential series, which is still their top line I think -- looks like a good $5k for one these days. That seems like a lot --- but in the grand scheme, what would it cost to replace 20 rifles and 10 or more pistols? At average price of $500, that is ... $10k. If you have valuables in there, that can double fast with some bling. Throw in a few irreplaceable items. Suddenly you are really talking about a 5k one time buy insurance policy on 20, 30K bucks worth of stuff. Better, some insurance (home) will cut you a small break (yearly) if you own a safe. Think about it, but my advice is to save up and get a big one.1 point

If your SHOPPING I would go to Franklin Gun Shop. They have (hands down) more guns to look at than anyone else. Look at it, feel it. Make sure it's what you really want. ...then find someone who won't butt rape you. Someone like Guns & Leather, Everything Weapons or one of our other fine sponsors here and have them order it for you. This takes the guess work out of it and buyers remorse. It also saves you some money, headaches and supports those who support us.1 point

Thanks to Luke E., for taking me on a dove shoot Sunday afternoon. We hit some and missed some, but had a great time. I want everyone to know that Luke E. is a good and kind man. He went out of his way to make sure I got to go dove hunting, put me on the best shooting spot, deflected birds my way, and gave me a box of hard to find rifle ammo. It was like Christmas in September! I've got to stop here and add that the thing that makes all of this special to me, is the big difference in our age groups. Luke is much younger than me, but made sure I had an enjoyable time and wouldn't take any pay for the ammo. He could have just gone hunting with friends in his own age group, but invited me. Being a city dweller, but having been raised on a farm, I miss taking my gun and going hunting in the field or woods. I also have to mention that the first we met, he gave me a couple of Weaver scope bases for a Ruger 1022... and wouldn't take any pay for them either! Luke puts others before himself, and that is refreshing, given the selfish...all for/about me... world we live in these days. Luke, thank you for your kindness to an old codger that misses more dove than he hits...but I absolutely enjoyed the hunt and comradery. Thank you for a fun hunt and the ammo.1 point
