I think the moral of this story is if you want to do business with a co-worker, do it off site. Sorry you had to lose your job over it.5 points

I've apparently been stuck under a rock and just saw this thread. Still room?? If so, I'd be in for one, preferably #23. I don't think I saw that number claimed yet. Never had a Protech before, but I heard a lot of good things.3 points

Fast and the furious with surplus 1911's? I would love.a surplus 1911, but what I really want to see if M14's. Convert them to semi auto only and watch them sell like crazy. Sent from the backwoods3 points

Even if things were to go south here in the way that y'all think it will, I couldn't be bothered to leave because I don't think I would notice any functional difference. Most of what people talk about the way the country "used to be "is really nothing more than a rose colored glasses of myth and memory. Things didn't used to be any freer during the lifetime of any of y'all living, you just believed the lie more back then.3 points

I lower the seat when I'm done...one less argument to have with the misses...but after 20 years of complaining, she still won't put the fresh roll back on the holder instead of balancing it on the empty one...life's not fair, LOL. BTW...my best bathroom prank ever was unrolling a few feet of paper and drawing a spider on a sheet and rolling it back up. She's deathly afraid of spiders and I never heard the end of that one.3 points

My 0.02, you messed up and got caught. Now for the good news, this will be the best move of your life, things cant do anything but get better. Praying for good things.2 points

Some of us try. The laws are still there, but we are pretty well left alone. We raise our own food, build our own homes, farm our own land, make our own tools etc. Legally we aren't anymore free than any of the other subjects, but it sure helps to be able to say we could live without the goverment or any outside help. Which brings up another point. I, and I'm sure others here, have family roots running into this land more than a century old. My family first built on the land we own in the early 1860's. My entire family has been born and raised there and most have died there. I'd rather die and be buried in the hills where I was raised than be the first generation of my family to turn tail and run. Seriously, Phil Valentine has the right idea on the illegal immigration issue in my opinion. You don't deport anyone. You simply "demagnetize" the United States. This means you make penalties so tough for doing business with illegals that no one will hire them or trade with them, and they'll deport themselves.2 points

The problem with regular glasses and most sunglasses is that there is no protection from the side. Wrap-arounds are best and some sunglasses do this very well with good quality lens. For the best protection, don't compromise.2 points

Thanks Luke for all the tips....and for trying it first  I was more worried that once I got started, I would go with the wrong color for base coat, not like the design half way through, or have an image in my head and hate it on the rifle. So! I just started painting with no idea whatsoever in my head and went with it. I used Rustoleum flat camo in the following colors: Sand, Army green, and Dark Earth. Sprayed the crap out of it with brake cleaner and let dry. Tape over the trigger and serial number (Not sure why, but I did). First light coat of OD green After 2nd coat of OD green And here is the part where y'all get to cuss me for skipping pictures. (I know, I hate it too) But I got into it, and moved back and forth so many times, I would have had 100 pictures and probably forgot what I was trying to do in my head. So, I apologize in advance. :ugh: All that said, I am extremely happy. The finish is NOT shiny, which I did not want. The dull, flat look is great! Since I didn't take pictures of the leaf procedure (you can see them laying in the box), I will try to explain a little. Probably not much different than anyone else does though. I started with the two base coats of green. Then laid several of the little branches pretty much covering most of the rifle on one side. I sprayed several lines of the brown in different directions depending on how the leaves laid. I need to add that light leaves CAN be moved by the spray! GRRR So I had to adjust once I figured that out. I let that dry, flipped the rifle and repeated as close as I could remember on the opposite side. Then I grabbed the sand and laid about half the amount of leaves I used for brown on the rifle and sprayed 5 or 6 lines mostly vertical and a few on top and bottom of the rifle. I wasn't keen on keeping that much sand color although I love it, just thinking about my area colors. I wanted more green and brown. So I made one more trip around the whole rifle with brown (to break up some of the larger areas of sand color) and then green (A blending type action of all of the designs) again. I decided at the point above that I would stop where I was. Let me know what you think, and if you're pondering it, give it a shot!!1 point

It's an advanced move that most shouldn't try to replicate. It's a burden. They even wrote a song about me. https://youtu.be/F_sFafClcUk1 point

It seems that a bit of "corporate training" would have been a much better solution to an "endemic" problem, rather than blowing the foot off of a facility. This one will likely show up on a seminar slide-show.1 point

No one at work knows how serious I am on guns, they may suspect, they have not proof, but I have never acquired a gun on company property. Now I do answer some gun questions from time to time, so that is the only hint anyone may know. I will say Thank you Tennessee for the parking lot bill though!1 point

The question I would have is whether management knew of any of the other sales as a part of their investigation where the person was not fired today as a result. Consistency matters in Human Resources - especially when it comes to terminations. If it turns out they were selective, I might be inclined to discuss it with counsel.1 point

Did they put that on paper? Sounds like they only have the snitch's side of things since it was a year ago. What company were you working for? Sounds like someone I would not do business with.1 point

Kodiak size, your right. 600D and zipper build have stood up for me well since January. For me though it was $50 vs $150 when I was looking.1 point

My daily bag is a First Spear ECP. Not a sling bag and a good bit more expensive than Maxpedition. I've found it's great if need something that can expand to an extent for something like a jacket. If you take the beaver tail off it it's pretty slim.1 point

Hey, Mythbusters proved it's possible to polish a turd.... http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/videos/polishing-a-turd-minimyth/ But I doubt even that would help a Glock. :)1 point

Willis, I second FTE's setup. We have almost identical carries with Taran +2 and +1 grips and Trijicon HDs. I'm 6'1 with decent sized hands and I carry the +2 in the gun and it fits my hand perfectly. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk1 point

That's what we do too. What happens in her bathroom, stays in her bathroom. What happens in mine, stays in mine. Lol. It's worked great for us for many years. Although, I always put the seat and lid down on any toilet I use anyway. just habbit1 point

Welcome to TGO. I recently realized that permit had expired, and I was unintentionally illegally carrying. Either way, went to the DMV the next morning, which was July 28. I had my replacement in the mail by August 7. I was impressed.1 point

I fully agree with you. One would have to go back to pre 1900 ish to escape to lack of freedom we have today.1 point

Herman Cain had it figured out years ago "build a fence 20 feet tall, then electrify it and to be politically correct, put a sign on it that says "warning this fence will kill you" in english and spanish"1 point

His buddy is an idiot. Trade a Beretta 15 rd M9 for a 6 shot Rossi? There's not a chance in hell. I wouldn't trade a semi in for a revolver on a security job anyways, but I definitely wouldn't trade a Beretta for anything less than a Smith or Ruger. Sent from the backwoods1 point

The 320s are a major hit. I haven't scored one, but it is on my short list. I read a lot about them on the Sig Forums, where the die hard Sig guys are at. Rarely you hear of an issue, but you do see plenty of praise. I do always wait until 1 year after any new gun goes on the market before I partake. I have worked in manufacturing for close to 30 years, regardless of what you make, that first year of manufacturing of any new product line, is the toughest. I am been thinking of either the 357Sig in the compact or the new released 45 version myself.1 point

I finally made it over to Prone Shooter. Very nice folks as Major mentioned. I picked up 5 pounds of powder, 3 different types, that I had been looking for...for some time now actually. Very good prices. They have a decent selection of powders, good selection of primers, and a decent selection of ammo. I even got to handle a Glock 43. I still haven't fired one yet...but all in time. I think it's great having good folks like this running such a nice place so close at hand....but you gotta do some recon to find them the first time LOL.1 point

I'm not leaving, and not sure who said this. "I came into this world kicking and screaming and covered in someone else's blood... and I've no problems going out the same way". But that's the way I feel about it.1 point

I found some numbers. In 2014 there were 623 people killed at the hands of approximately 900,000 police officers in the US. It does not say whether these shoots were good or bad. That works out to .00069 deaths per officer. There is an estimated 11.1 million people who carry a firearm for self defense in the US. That is ~11,100,000. And those 11.1 million people killed, on average, 76 people a year. That works out to .00000685 deaths per person carrying a firearm for self defense. You are 100x more likely to be killed by a LE officer than by someone who carries a firearm for self defense. Even if these number are off by 50% you are more likely to be wrongfully killed by a LE officer than a person carrying a gun for self defense. So those "experts" are full of it. But if you don't compare the numbers to each other and actually look at the percentages you realize that the actual chance of being killed by a person carrying a gun for self defense is nearly a statistical improbability. You are probably more likely to be killed by fireworks, drowning, car accident, stroke or heart disease than by LE or a person carrying a gun for self defense. references: http://crimepreventionresearchcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Concealed-Carry-Permit-Holders-Across-the-United-States.pdf http://www.nleomf.org/facts/enforcement/ http://www.gunfacts.info/gun-control-myths/concealed-carry/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_States,_2014 But even if my numbers are off by 50% your are still more likely to die at the hands of LE than at the hand of a person who carries a firearm for self defense.1 point

I have a pair of poly safety glasses, like the kind kids use in Chemistry class or manufacturing companies ask guests to wear and am able to wear them over my regular glasses. It isn't perfect, though works pretty well.1 point

I don't know. I don't care for either size. .35 caliber is where the magic is. You ain't lived until you've got into a .358 Winchester. By far my favorite center fire round.1 point

All those katanas...I am as big a fan of the Japanese sword and bushido as they come, but those things are going to look like twisted rebar a few weeks into such an event. The real ones take a butt-load of attention to care for...they rust like MOFOs! If you are unhappy about how much maintenance an AR requires, you are going to hate a katana.1 point
