Don't laugh. :meh: This table was made completely out of junk and scrap wood, iron and aluminum by my Dad. It was to be a portable reloading table that he could wheel in the living room and watch cowboy flicks while reloading. Then, wheel it back out so my mom wouldn't get pissed about dads old junk table being in the way. I know, it's ugly. But it works perfectly for its intended use. Using it as a kid, it was my favorite reloading table out of all of them he built. Bare table: On the way to getting it setup: My Dad is retired now and trying to downsize his man-cave. He has like 5 reloading tables with presses on all of them. He even built a couple so he could reload outdoors on a nice day. So I scored this one from him. This is a warning for individuals or trusts who are unfamiliar with the NFA laws relating to machine guns. First rule of thumb, if it is to good to be true it probably isn't true. You cannot buy ANY full auto that is legally registered for under $3,000 now, especially an AR-15/M16. Legally registered full auto ARs are now $15K-$30K depending on the make, model. The days of cheap full autos went away in May of 1986 and after that date there was no way to register or make a machine gun legally as an individual or as a trust. You cannot legally convert your gun into a machine gun without registration and that registration ended in May of 1986. So if someone is trying to sell you a machine gun or the parts to convert your gun into a machine gun be aware it is not legal in any way shape or form to convert your gun to a machine gun after the 1986 date. Possession of the parts needed to make a machine gun is just as illegal as possessing the machine gun itself. Even if your gun was made before the May 1986 cutoff date it cannot be converted into a machine gun unless it was actually registered as a machine gun prior to May of 1986. If someone is trying to sell you a machine gun ask for the Form 1, Form 3 or Form 4 to verify it is properly registered. I would also suggest you get the serial number and verify that the serial number is on file with the ATF. The reason is there has been a rash of people making up phony Form 4's, accepting payments then when the buyer tries to transfer it becomes clear the item is not on the NFA registry. This also applies to any other NFA item you are buying from another individual. The only people who can legally posses a new machine gun after May of 1986 is government, law enforcement, the military or dealers licensed to manufacture or demo, or sell them. So if you are contacted by ANYONE wanting to sell you the parts to convert your gun to a machine gun, "no questions asked", run away. What they are selling is illegal to posses and install in any gun not registered prior to May of 1986. And yes, there is a reason why I am posting this now. You have been warned! **************************************************************************************************************** I wanted to add something else. This also applies to lower receivers that might already be fitted with the machine gun parts. I recently read of some people trying to sell airsoft lowers as full auto lowers. Some are built so realistic that it would be easy for anyone, especially someone who is not familiar, to confuse them for the real thing.4 points

I’m kinda surprised that I see many stories of how you can buy parts or skirt the law on machine guns by people that would wear out Google on any other law. I have friends that know my machining skills; they have asked if I could convert an AR15 to fully automatic. My answer is “yes”. When they ask why I don’t do it my answer is “Prison”. However, I have no desire to own a fully auto weapon; I can turn cash into empty brass fast enough without one. And I sure don’t want the expense of defending myself in court if I win, or going to prison if I lose. I can’t think of anything I need or want that I would pay the government for the privilege to own; the costs are ridiculous. I feel that someday suppressors may be legal to buy without the Feds involvement. If that happens the price will drop to where it should be.4 points

I've lived here most of my life and never knew they had them, either. Probably not a good sign. I on the other hand will be dressing up like the Mario Brothers and going to the go cart tracks to watched all the little stoned teenage employees think their video games have come to life. Yesterday I went and splurged a little on a couple guns. I picked up an 870 Police Magnum and bought all the Magpul furniture which I'll post some pics of later. I was in the market for a good ol' bolt action .22. I found a Savage Mark II FV-SR. It has a 16.5" threaded barrel which I plan to suppress one day. I matched It with a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 Rimfire scope with a BDC reticle. It is meant for a 50 yard zero and drops 75, 100, 125 and 150 yards. I took it out on the "back forty" this morning along with my saw horse bench and sandbags. I started shooting federal bulk through it at 50 yards and worked it in to a closer group and then switched to 36 grain HP Mini Mags to close in my group. The pic below is 4 shots all connected at 50 yards from the bench and the top is a shot from 75 yards through the first reticle below 50 which I squeezed a little high. I could not be more impressed with this rifle and scope. It only came with the 5 round mag which did get a little annoying while on the bench but I have 3 10 rounders on the way. I am glad to add it to the family.2 points

Function trumps all and that fills a niche you can't get elsewhere. Being as your old man put that together; It's heirloom quality to boot. NICE.2 points

Im going to try to tan the hide but really have no clue what i'm doing there. Got a diy kit from gander mtn. a few years back so hopefully it will turn out well. Too nice of a coat to let go to waste.1 point

Picked up a new Ruger LC9S yesterday at Guns and Leather at an excellent price. Thank you Daniel for another great deal. I bring the gun home and did a detail strip for cleaning, etc. All went well until I put the manual safety spring back in. After two hours of searching for it after it slipped off I gave Ruger a call for a replacement. They are shipping me a new one at no charge and paying for shipping. This is excellent customer service IMHO. I know I don't need the safety but I feel better having it in. Also the CS rep informed me that they are no longer including a cartridge case with their firearms because the two states that required it no longer do.Since I had the box in front of me she was correct. So, I gave her the serial number to find out when the gun was born. It is from June of 2015. Maybe next week after I put the spring in I will take it to the range for function testing and if all goes well add it to my carry rotation after I purchase a box of defensive ammo.1 point

I'll carry 2 Safariland speed loaders if I'm carrying a revolver as my main gun. I don't like the twist off speedloaders, or speed strips, as both are too much slower for reloading.1 point

I rarely carry my J Frame as a primary handgun...It's usually pocket carried as a second to my G 19. If I carry the J Frame as a primary it's usually in the appendix position and I'll have a couple of speed strips in my strong side pocket. I down load the strips by 1 as it gives me more grip surface and this seems less "fumble-prone" to me. TNWNGR makes some good points on a dump pouch. They are low profile and serve their purpose quite well. :2cents: 1 point

When I timed an FAL barrel, a big steel workbench wasn't enough. That Wilton vise should have been anchored to a yard of concrete.1 point

I always liked to carry a Safariland Speed Loader and a couple of Bianicia Speed Strips if I was off duty or in plain cloths. But I've got to admit if you add a drop pouch to your belt and practice those loose rounds load very fast. Honestly with a little work you can do the entire dump empties, drop and reload five or six never once looking at the revolver.1 point

Functionality is where it shines. The layout is perfect! It's rock solid stable, has plenty of space for a single stage setup and I can move it anywhere I want. :D1 point

There are a bunch of reasons why I will NEVER support CTD. I don't care if they have the cheapest guns, ammunition or accessories I will not buy because of what they did to me long, long ago. Back in 1997 I happened upon CTD and got their catalog to see if they had anything I wanted. I jumped on their website to place an order for some stuff. The order went fine no problems. Over a year later I was looking at my bank accounts and noticed "reservation rewards" for like $10 a month. I figured it was something my wife was part of so I never really looked into it. A few months later I asked her was the "reservation rewards" was for and she said it wasn't her. So I started investigating and called "reservation rewards" to figure out what I was paying for. It was some sort of BS thing to get discounts on HIGH dollar vacations, definitely something I would not sign up for because I could not afford a vacation nor would I ever pay to go to some third world country to "relax". They said I was signed up by CTD when I placed an order with them. I asked them for a refund because I did not join and they refused but they did cancel it. I called CTD and they were adamant that the "reservation rewards" did not come from them. Well a few months later I ordered from CTD again and once again I was enrolled in the "reservation rewards". I called CTD to ask why and they were, again, adamant it wasn't part of their website. I asked for a refund of the current and past payments and they refused. I called again and cancelled the "reservation rewards". I have not ordered from them since. At one point I considered ordering a few things from them but then I heard this. This was relayed to me by someone who I trust 100%. The owner showed up at a gun show, I think it might have been the Waco show or one of the other big shows. He went around and bought every single pound of a particular type of gun powder and paid for every purchase with a credit card. Then Monday morning he disputed EVERY single purchase he made for the powder. Most of the vendors didn't think it was worth the effort to fight it but one did. It took him several months but my friend eventually got his money back from the owner of CTD. But even so the owner of CTD probably made out with what was probably several hundred dollars worth of powder for free. And that is the biggest reason why I will not support him, his company or anyone affiliated with CTD. Crooks run in packs so I view anyone doing business with CTD in the same way I view CTD. And because of that I would never consider spending one red cent with CTD. They are not a company that supports the shooting community, especially those who actually shoot for fun. They look for any excuse they can find to raise prices to panic levels hurting those who do not have sponsors and just shoot for fun.1 point

I believe your dad and my dad must have been kin. Though I use a store bought table for my bench, my dad prides himself on building things out of junk, especially things he finds at the trash transfer station, etc. Great stuff.1 point

I've bought 2 or 3 times from CTD since their Big Gouge Period, including an AK pistol, cheapest anywhere at the time. It got a bit confused because the FFL I had it sent to, 6 or 8 showed up same day, as he'd bought the others to sell retail, were cheaper than he could get from any of his distributors. Anyway, I don't care what CTD's biz model is ... it must work for them when they gouge, they're still in same biz, but that doesn't for me. Works for me when it's the cheapest, though. I do believe that's the 'Mericun Capitalism thang in which most folks here seem to believe? - OS1 point

I don't shoot 22 that much and a box of 500 will last me awhile or it used to. I don't shoot much paper either, but this seems like a cheaper alternative then 9mm or something. Most of my shooting is at deer and pigs but this just seemed like something everyone could enjoy. Friends, family etc. If this is the last box of 22 on the planet then I'll have fun shooting it with my new pistol.1 point

Comrade Kalashnikov designed it that way. Otherwise, one might eventually have to clean it. - OS1 point

I have the Glock 19 and 43. Way over 1000 rounds in the 19 and it has been absolutely perfect and no issues. Around 350 - 400 rounds in the 43 and it has been absolutely perfect and no issues. I have had numerous other guns and most of them jammed from time to time. For that reason I didn't feel comfortable carrying them or depending on them and sold them all. Once a gun shuts down I don't want it. I love revolvers because of their reliability and thought I would always be carrying a revolver...until I bought a Glock. I have come to trust Glocks...they are not pretty guns to me...just a chunk of plastic and not much to look at. But if I want a gun to reliably and accurately shoot all the rounds and function 100% it's gotta be a Glock. In my book, if you want reliability you get a revolver or a Glock. B1 point

budget? Used gun at a show or reputable shop! As to what ... what do you want it for? I mean I can recommend 30+ guns at you but without knowing... its just randomness. Ruger mk .22 or other target .22 range gun? RIA 1911 9mm target pistol? Something smaller for light carry days? A revolver, just cause (uberti .45 breaktop? Ruger gp 100 357? --- most revolvers unless used are gonna break the budget though ) Dunno. More input, feedback, or anything to help us help you?1 point

Has nothing to do with revenue. It is just like everything else, control. They want to control every aspect of our lives even if it is very, very minor. Our country never repeals laws, they just choose not to enforce them. But they are still there waiting for the right person to decide to suddenly enforce them again. Jury nullification can be used to find someone innocent of an old law but most courts will not allow anyone to taint the jury with jury nullification.1 point

I have kayaked the Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon from Ramsey's Cascades down. I have also kayaked Big Creek. I was in an eddy on Big Creek once and a trout jumped out of the water, bounced off my spray skirt and back into the creek. Those are some beautiful places.1 point

I'm getting ready to order a PT 845. Trying to wait out the blems at KYGun co and get one for 230 bucks. I would also like to get the wife a PT 111 from Kygun Co for 198.00. I've owned multiple Taurus guns over the years and have nothing but good things to say. The 1911 I owned was great, ate everything I fed it and was way more accurate than I was.1 point
