there should be no minimum wage. Free market will decide what a pay rate is for any given job. If you want to pay $2 an hour you probably aren't going to get very good help so you will raise the rate to the point you get good help. It is a simple theory.11 points

He wants to sell or trade for a pocket gun. I had thought about if he sells it just not telling him who and give him the cash and put it with the guns my grandfather gave me. Pass it on down to my son one day.4 points

Thousands showed up.....thousands of flags were flying.....the street was lined on both sides for miles.....over 800 Patriot Guard Riders. I'm sure everyone had a lump in their throat when the procession drove by. I know mine did. Rest in peace Sgt. David Allen Wyatt. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice representing our country. Edited to include a video. This is the area I was at. Northgate Mall. The Patriot Guard Riders were amazing. The crowd you see on both sides of the road continued for the entire 18 or so miles where practical. Another thing is how quiet and respectful it was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i83pWp9RVgM3 points

Just read a headline that now they want to work less hours so they can still draw welfare. The Left is never happy.3 points

Yes, and some places the power company even has linked up to people's HVAC units and they control them as well if they think too much power is going out to residential homes during peak/business hours, they can turn off your A/C or heat to lighten the load. Next on the list are the appliances; wouldn't want you running the oven more than the allotted times on Thanksgiving or Christmas, now would we?3 points

I bought a 10mm Fusion Firearms frameset a couple of years ago with the intention of building it myself. I started buying some of the parts, bought the Jerry Kuhnhausen shop manual, and had a solid plan in my head. Flash forward to last month when the frame is still sitting untouched in my safe. I decided the easiest thing to do would be to throw some money at the problem so I took it to Predator Customs along with the parts I'd already bought and asked them to build it for me. I picked it up today and couldn't be any happier. All of the non-Fusion parts are either Cylinder & Slide or Ed Brown. The color is called Tungsten Gray and it looks absolutely incredible in the sun.2 points

After having the stamp for almost a year, I finally, FINALLY got my first sbr build done. I got derailed from this build several times by house renovations and various other life events. All I need now is a CMT bcg. I forgot to put the charging handle in the rifle before I took the pictures as well. Oh well, you guys get the idea. As you can see, this is my TGO lower set that we have had for what, almost 2 years now? Parts used are: VLTOR imod stock kit CMMG lower build kit w/o fcg Geissele sd3g trigger Tango down bg-17 grip (love it) SLR Rifleworks 10" solo ultra lite hg SLR Rifleworks sentry 7 adjustable gas block Rainier Arms 10.5" select 5.56 barrel Eotech xps2 Im sure some of you notice the YHM Phantom QD muzzle brake on the end of the barrel. Just a hint of things to come shortly! Needless to say I cant WAIT to shoot it and get the gas block tuned. This thing should run like a sewing machine. Anyways on to the pics. Sorry for the lack luster cell phone pics. Im by no means a photographer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

So I've finally broke down and got a Glock. I've always been a 1911 fan boy but after having numerous folks twist my ear about the reliability, I decided to purchase my first Glock a G27 gen 4. I haven't got to shoot it yet, but I did make a new holster for it.1 point

As a scan the news from California, I can't definitively discern which wage paying entities and worker classifications are included or excluded under the plan. Here's the game as I see it. They are trying to redefine and increase the poverty line to the much palatable and tug on your heart strings, alms to the less fortunate "living wage" using a new baseline of $31,200 for "subsides" 40 hours x $15 × 52 weeks = the MINIMUM living wage of $31,200 They know those workers currently do not get 40 hours and this will not entice business to offer 40 hours. Business can either reduce staff and further sacrifice service or suck it up, pass along the cost or operate for very little reward vs. risk (for the small business owner) Guv'mint get to hands out more stuff to the mob to make up the difference between wages earned vs. the minimum living wage. National production goes down as workers don't have to produce as much because they have less need and they're making the same money more folks become dependent upon guv'mint and like the lifestyle and production goes down some more Value for value has long since been dead. All of a sudden there is no one left to pay for all that stuff...read history if you want to know what follows, but hey, it will NEVER happen to the good old USA! Tin foil hat brigade, front and center.1 point

Are folks ever going to figure out that minimum wage was never intended to be a career? It was intended for high school kids to make gas/beer/date money. Struggling to get by on minimum wage is supposed to motivate people to better themselves. I guess it's easier to whine to the government.1 point

I've been watching this private citizen guard thing going on at the recruitment centers with mixed feelings as aside from making the "citizen guards" feel good that's about all I see of any merit. Bear in mind the murderer in the Chattanooga incident first did a drive by with a semi automatic rifle. His next and final stop wasn't a strip mall recruiters storefront. It a slippery slope full of inherent liability for those choosing to do this guardianship thing where not only do you risk personal safety you also jeopardize your very financial future. If this is what one feels they have to do then so be it.1 point

Keep in mind a lot of land is for sale by owner so it may not be found via any internet searches. I think you really need to just get out there and hit the back roads(as time allows). Yesterday we did a hike in Rhea County near Spring City. It was only 80 minutes from West Knoxville and it got really rural really fast. I've lived here most of my life and had never heard of Spring City until earlier this week when I found the hike. Yet it's only 60 miles from Knoxville. Pull up google maps and start figuring out what area might make the most sense. As someone also mentioned earlier, Land Watch.org is a great website.1 point

Seems like it's taking a while for people to realize the dangers of smart meters and smart grids. Oh well, reminds me of when I used to tell people the government was recording all their electronic data and they called me crazy and paranoid.1 point

Ran across an interesting article mixed in with the stuff on the theater shooting: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/paul-heroux/why-the-shootings-will-co_b_7865480.html Although I don't agree with everything in it, I do wish when shootings and such occur, we saw more like it and fewer of the "Just ban all of those evil guns and our troubles will be over" variety.1 point

They emit signals on a few different frequencies or bands, whatever you want to call them. Like it may operate at 1watt on 900 mhz, but then it also pings other meters at 500mw on 70hz and the master may take in signals at 900mhz and 70 hz and then broadcast back at 2.4ghz on 5 watts or something. In my case, the meter is literally a few feet away from my headboard so it could interfere with the implanted recorder as well as the base station that transmits the data every night. You can go with the 'dangerous RF emitter', the 'they're monitoring me' or the 'they're getting more control' argument. Any which way you look at it, it never seems to add up. Here's the reality of it from a NIST publication (used this as a reference for a class earlier in the year) http://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/ir/2014/NIST.IR.7628r1.pdf They list "insurance companies" as being interested in your usage data to determine premiums or whatever. This is just the beginning of the security/privacy concerns that the system introduces into our society. We can't even get our current infrastructure EMP-proof, but we're going to spend billions of dollars to monitor you closer.1 point

I've heard Glenn Beck ranting and raving about smart meters. I'm not sure if I have one, but there was a new meter installed here a couple of years back, and I no longer see a meter reader come down the drive. So far, I have electricity and still get a bill. I can't tell anything's changed.1 point

Yep. All Cleveland Utilities electric customers (unless opted out) have an electric smart meter. They are in the process of replacing 15,000 of roughly 30,000 water meters currently. They essentially connect to the electric meter and pass the reading along. They send along a reading every few hours or even longer. Who here has a cell phone in their pocket, router at home, 10 Wi-Fi devices, and more? More than that, even if you tried to "go clean" what about all the radio waves bouncing around outside of your control. Now, smart meters could theoretically pose privacy issues. Example: if hacked, it could be determined at exactly what time each day someone takes a shower or something. I guess you would also have to worry about trusting all the utility employees that have access to it. My opinion: Find something bigger and badder to worry about. The best way to survive is to be at home. The theatre just doesn't offer what it used to. I mean, we by no means have the finest tv ever made; But my chair sits three feet away from a 55" LED, HD, 3D Samsung. The sound is more than I can tolerate. If that weren't enough, there's a local place here in town that specializes in high end home entertainment. This guy did the home entertainment systems seen on the show 'Nashville', in some woman's home...I dunno. Anyway, he can break the glass in his store front with what he offers. Netflix, redbox, on demand, and a DVR. Deadbolted doors, Ar-15's and castle doctrine. Yep, I watch my movies at home now. The last installation of The Hobbit was and will be the last movie I see in a theater. Fear? Maybe, but if I get shot up during a movie, you can bet it's cause the woman finally had enough of my :poop: and if you're gonna get gunned down, it oughta be by a loved one.1 point

A guy walked into a crowded bar, waving his 1911 Colt pistol and yelled, "I have a .45 Colt with an eight shot magazine, and I want to know who's been screwing my wife?" A voice from the back of the room called out... "You'll need more ammo!"1 point

I was up in Galena last October and, despite knowing about this section of law, I came in from the Iowa side with my pistol field stripped and padlocked in one hard side gun case and my mags and ammo padlocked in another hard side pistol case, both stored in a floor compartment in the rear of our Pilot. You guys do what you want, but I don't trust Illinois authorities any further than I can throw Maryland and New Jersey both, so I played it really cautious............. I continued on out of Illinois like this and stopped and put everything back together when I got about three inches into Indiana. I'm going back this October and I intend to do it exactly the same way unless I can determine that Illinois has suddenly developed a heretofore unknown streak of fairness and tolerance towards lawful gun owners.1 point

I thought it strange also when I learned the age of this last shooter. But then I guess anyone can be crazy at any age. I have quit trying to figure out all the craziness going on in this world today. I just know and agree with a couple other folks here that have said, unless I have to pass through a metal detector I'm gonna be armed. If I would have been in that theater when that last guy began his shooting rampage there would have been two guns in that theater. His and Mine and Mine would have been returning hot lead back in his direction. I'm sure he would have been as easy target since everyone around him would have been on the floor and he would be the only one standing. Everyday I become more and more of a Sheep Dog and less and less a Sheep. I have not been to a movie theater in years and have no plans about going any time soon but even back years ago when I would go with a few family members or friends I always sat in an isle seat and never in the middle of the crowd................jmho1 point

The only thing Governor Haslam could do is propose that the TCA be amended to be clear that nothing in TN law prohibits military personnel from being armed for defensive purposes to give the federal government no reason to say TN law prohibits it. There is only so much a state governor can do with regards to federal troops. The issue of active duty recruiters is a federal issue to solve. Even if Haslam said they could have any gun they wanted anywhere as of today, they would still be subject to their own service regulations and DoD wide regulations. And let's just say the brass is less than less than enthusiastic about arming recruiters.1 point

Personally I would love to see these guys/gals put behind bars. Who are they to be the moral police? The same goes for these guys putting up viruses, anti-virus popup ads, you know the ones that start of "YOU'VE BEEN HACKED!! and install themselves when you press ok. The only way anyone should be getting into anyone's personal information is though a warrant, and for that they better have a better reason than cheating. To me cheating is between the two involved in a relationship, if they feel like doing it so be it. I get so tired of people getting into everyone's personal business, like Miranda and Blake; who cares why it happened, who cares who cheated on who or with who, that's between them not all these busybodies.1 point

Not able to get same results with stock sights. I have a hard time without reader glasses to get windage right. Elevation was no problem with stock sights, but windage was rough. The big dot is just that, big. Stock notch and post sights come from rifles. Great for target shooting but not the best for combat shooting. I can see the big dot without looking for it, and line it up without knowing it. For me it is just way faster to aim, or pick it up fast without point shooting or reactionary shooting. At night it is a world of difference compared to lining up three dots. It is amazing how my eyes line two up fast at night. ( Yes I do night fire.) From zero to about 50 feet the dot sits up just like a golf ball on a tee. Mine hits behind the dot, not above. So I have the dots top on the targets top /oval shaped 10 ring line. The round hits the X (dead center) If that makes sense. So basically when my eyes see a complete dot, I cover what I want to hit. If you were close you could test drive my G21 with them. I carry this pistol all day atleast 5 days a week, for the last 11 years. The sights have been on it for several years. I won't go back.1 point

Those things have got to be rough on a mag catch. Imagine doing what a soldier has to do physically, and all that weight on the mag catch. I think they have a good purpose, if they feed. Like on the firing line at Knob Creek. Now there's a good place for them!1 point
