  1. A guy walked into a crowded bar, waving his 1911 Colt pistol and yelled,   "I have a .45 Colt with an eight shot magazine, and I want to know who's been screwing my wife?"    A voice from the back of the room called out...    "You'll need more ammo!"

  2. Thousands showed up.....thousands of flags were flying.....the street was lined on both sides for miles.....over 800 Patriot Guard Riders. I'm sure everyone had a lump in their throat when the procession drove by.  I know mine did.  Rest in peace Sgt. David Allen Wyatt. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice representing our country.   Edited to include a video. This is the area I was at. Northgate Mall. The Patriot Guard Riders were amazing.  The crowd you see on both sides of the road continued for the entire 18 or so miles where practical. Another thing is how quiet and respectful it was.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i83pWp9RVgM

  3. Words can't describe how proud I am of my older brother. I get misty eyed just thinking about it.   My brother has been through hell and back while in the Army. Just 48 hours after enlisting in the FL National Guard he was told he would be going on a 9-10 month deployment to Africa. During his 2nd tour in Iraq his Humvee drove over an IED and he was the only one in the vehicle to survive. Despite that, he recently decided to serve our country again my joining the guard.   He was supposed to be my best man at my wedding in October but won't be able to join. I'm just proud to call him my brother and I wanted to share.   http://www.baynews9.com/content/news/baynews9/news/article.html/content/news/articles/bn9/2015/7/23/soldier_deployment_f.html#.VbF7VPLGlQI.mailto

  5. The wife and I took our kids out today.  I wanted the kids (9,11 and 17) to be part of this and hopefully gain some understanding of the sacrifice that others are making to give them such a good life.  We were on the road side for about 3 hours today and the turn out was amazing but honestly, it was not at all surprising.  I new that this town would turn out to show respect.  Tuesday I will take the kids back out for Naval officer Randall Smith's funeral.

  9. After having the stamp for almost a year, I finally, FINALLY got my first sbr build done. I got derailed from this build several times by house renovations and various other life events. All I need now is a CMT bcg. I forgot to put the charging handle in the rifle before I took the pictures as well. Oh well, you guys get the idea. As you can see, this is my TGO lower set that we have had for what, almost 2 years now? Parts used are: VLTOR imod stock kit CMMG lower build kit w/o fcg Geissele sd3g trigger Tango down bg-17 grip (love it) SLR Rifleworks 10" solo ultra lite hg SLR Rifleworks sentry 7 adjustable gas block Rainier Arms 10.5" select 5.56 barrel Eotech xps2 Im sure some of you notice the YHM Phantom QD muzzle brake on the end of the barrel. Just a hint of things to come shortly! Needless to say I cant WAIT to shoot it and get the gas block tuned. This thing should run like a sewing machine. Anyways on to the pics. Sorry for the lack luster cell phone pics. Im by no means a photographer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. So I've finally broke down and got a Glock. I've always been a 1911 fan boy but after having numerous folks twist my ear about the reliability, I decided to purchase my first Glock a G27 gen 4. I haven't got to shoot it yet, but I did make a new holster for it.

  13. I straddle the light and the dark.  I love both!  I will say Glocks are a boringly reliable though.  I still love my 1911s too.  A Springer GI  resides on my side of the bed. My Glock 17 resides on my wife's side.  She loved it so much back in 1990, that I gave it to her. Another reason I gave it to her, was to keep me from trading it off.

  16. This morning I stood guard at the recruiting center in Paris, TN.  Made contact with the leaders of the guard duty, whom are in a group called the Oathkeepers (for which, I am not a member), I told them I'd do the duty Friday morning (today).  Duty was simple was sitting out front of the center.  The guard leaders requested that long guns not be seen, but whatever I had in my truck was fine.  I had my AR-15 with three 30-round magazines available.  I do have my permit to carry and carry concealed with my shirt over my Glock 17.   As the office opened, I met with the Army recruiters, a SGT and SSG both with combat patches, one with a CIB.  The SGT has the CIB but hasn't put it on, he also has a Purple Heart.  They expressed their appreciation for me and told me to make myself at home.  While at my station, a man in a truck drove up and got out with a bottle of cold water and thanked me for what I was doing.   When the recruiters departed, I left since I was not going to be there to guard an empty building, I am there to protect the recruiters.     I did not have any negative feedback or comments while I stood guard.

  21.   1.  Yes, but sometimes a grip bushing will be staked which would make the change tricky or even unwise to attempt.  It's probably not, but I'd email/call Springfield and ask them if you're not sure.  Brownells even sells a specific tool for the job...http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/power-tools-accessories/drill-bits/grip-bushing-staker-sku080644000-696-2869.aspx   2. Pretty easy if it's not staked.  Be careful if you use a screwdriver to loosen/tighten the bushings.  Some bushing notches are shallow and it's easy for a screwdriver to slip off.  Again, Brownells sells a specific tool for the job...http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/screwdrivers-sets/magna-tip-bits/magna-tip-reg-1911-auto-bushing-driver-trade-bits-prod493.aspx   Be careful not to over tighten and use blue loctite.  Good luck!   3.  Beats me.

  23. Silencershop will begin offering a dealer program on 8/3.  You'll be able to buy from a link to their website and the item will be shipped to your dealer of choice (if they participate). They have not shared the price list yet but I am excited to be able to offer the diverse selection more easily than I have in the past.  They will have to collect sales tax but I am hopeful with their volume that they may be able to beat the current distributor's pricing.  If the margin allows it may be an opportunity to buy from them and pick from their large selection and still save a few bucks in the process.    I will share more when I know more just wanted to give you guys a heads up.   Thank you!

  25. So I was surfing the web the other day an seen where someone else had made a rear sight for their AK. Seemed easy enough so I gave it a try. I traded an AK FCG for a Saiga top cover which is a little thicker. The top cover on my Draco has ZERO movement so I knew if I could figure out how to attach it I knew it would work. This increased the sight radius from 10" to 17.5" which is more than a standard AR carbine. It took me a few prototypes but I finally figured it out. Then once I had the holes for the sight worked out I dimpled the right ear so I could actually zero the rear sight and have the adjustments stay. And here is a mock up. And one I was sure everything was good I drilled more holes in the sight and added some plates for the screws. And even though I do not have pictures I disassembled the sight and then heated the wings and plates to red hot and dunked them in used oil to give it a nice dark blued/black finish. After that I drilled the top cover and installed it after I made sure everything was lined up. And here is what it looks like. And once I am 100% positive everything is good I will have it permanently welded to the top cover. And if anyone is interested I can tell you what parts you need. You can build this exact same setup for under $30 using a brand new sight. I was able to trade for my parts and everything works great thanks so Smith who supplied the top covers for me. Edited to add instructions: If you plan on welding you use steel but you could also use aluminum to so the same. In addition to the tools and supplies below I also used: A hammer A flat tip screw driver A few punches A marker A vice A file I also used a compressor, angle grinder and bench grinder but this can be done using all hand tools. Here is the 3/4" mild steel square tubing. I bought it at Home Depot but should be at most home improvement stores. Crown Bolt 3/4 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Square Tube with 1/16 in. Thick-40320 - The Home Depot It is 3/4" square and 1/16" thick. As far as the actual sight I have found the cheap knockoff I got worked great. So any A2 style sight will work but verify the hole diameters before drilling the holes in the square tube. Here is an example of the rear sight I used. Brand New Tactical Detachable Carry Handle with Dual Aperture A2 Sight Black | eBay And if you want even simpler you can use an A1 style rear sight. I needed a way to attach the sight to the top cover so I used this. Crown Bolt 1/2 in. 36 in. Plain Steel Flat Bar with 1/8 in. Thick-43970 - The Home Depot Those are the steel pad that are drilled and tapped for the screws to come through the top cover and thread into to hold the sight in place. To drill and tap all the holes I used this. DEWALT # 36 Drill and 6 in. x 32 NC Tap Set-DWA1400 - The Home Depot And here are the screws I used. The Hillman Group #6-32 x 1/2 in. Slotted Round-Head Machine Screws (30-Pack)-944 - The Home Depot I did have to thin the head a little to clear the bolt carrier. Once I verified the size of the sight shaft I then drill the holes in the square tubing for the shaft. First I marked, with a punch, the centerline of the holes which is ~.250" above the bottom of the tube when measured from the outside. The first hole is .140" in diameter and should go through both sides. Then through one side I drill another hole that is .215" in diameter. The large hole is for the screw side of the sight and NOT the zero drum side. Once I had the holes drilled I took the sight shaft and put it through the housing like I was going to assemble it. I used the zero drum, with the ball bearing and spring, detent to mark the path of the detent by spinning it around a few times. This left a visible ring you can use for marking the detent holes. Then I split the path up with eight marks for where I wanted the detents and used a punch to start the keep the drill bit from walking. I used a drill bit he same size as the ball detent and made sure I did NOT drill through the housing. I guess you could also use a smaller hole and drill completely through but I prefer my way. Next I cut off the parts we just drilled for the rest of the tube. You can leave as much or as little as you want on either end but realize the tapped blocks need room to hold the rear sight spring in place with a little room for movement. Then I cut out the metal between the two ears. Then I started contouring it for looks/performance. Next I installed the sight shaft then I slide the sight spring, a flat spring with a slight bow in it, under the sight centered it under the sight. I made the slight blocks from the 3/4" wife and 1/8" thick banding that I drilled and tapped for the 6-32 screws. These blocks serve two functions, to hold the sight spring in place so it cannot come out from under the rear sight when switching between short and long range aperatures. They are also used to bolt the sight itself to the top cover. Once the blocks were drilled I placed them back in the sight making sure the sight spring was not binding and marked where to drill the clearance hole in the sight housing. Then once I verified they were in the center I drilled out the clearance holes. For the clearance holes you can either use a larger drill bit, like I did, or you can run the drill bit in and out at angles to slowly open up the clearance hole. I put the sight back together again and then I centered the rear aperature. Once centered I lined up the rear sight aperature with the factory rear sight and finally the front sight. Once I was satisfied everything was lined up I had someone else mark the holes in the top cover. Then I used 6-32 screws to go up through the top cover, through the sight housing and finally into the blocks that were tapped 6-32. Then I screw it all together and check for fitment as well as function (I did have to reduce the height of the screw heads). Then once I was happy I disassembled everything the put some sort of finish on it before reassembling it one final time with blue Loctite. And if I am not clear enough please feel free to ask questions. It did take me three prototypes before I made the fourth, and final, version. And don't be afraid to cut the sight too long because you can always remove material but it is much harder to add. I cut one prototype too short, a second I reversed the left and right side holes in the housing and one I messed up the detent holes. But now I feel confident enough that I will be making these for a few other guns in the future.

  27. ok, Just spoke with my friend up in Illinois that has the FFL3 license and I was wrong about the Federal License. He was advised by someone in the FFL Division back when he first received his license to get in touch with the Will County Sheriff and see about getting a swore Will County Sheriff's Deputy Commission that would authorize him to carry. He did so and the Sheriff did in fact issue it for him and swore him in as a Deputy Sheriff of Will County and because over the past 40 years there has only been 6 elections with 4 sheriff's getting re-elected. Every time a new Sheriff is elected they swear him in again.   I also think it does not hurt that about 90% of the Will County Sheriff's office and deputy's do business at his store and all get a Law Enforcement Discount and all get free range time. I guess it's not what you know but who you know in his case.   In 1980 he purchased the home next to his and had it torn down and added a new indoor shooting range which I was not aware till I just spoke with him along with he also has to professional gunsmiths on site during store hours. Last time I spoke with him he didn't mention any of the new stuff. Hope that explains why he can carry. He actually has a badge and ID he can hooked on his belt when ever he open carries which he only does while in his store most of the time.....................

  28. Yep. All Cleveland Utilities electric customers (unless opted out) have an electric smart meter. They are in the process of replacing 15,000 of roughly 30,000 water meters currently. They essentially connect to the electric meter and pass the reading along. They send along a reading every few hours or even longer. Who here has a cell phone in their pocket, router at home, 10 Wi-Fi devices, and more? More than that, even if you tried to "go clean" what about all the radio waves bouncing around outside of your control. Now, smart meters could theoretically pose privacy issues. Example: if hacked, it could be determined at exactly what time each day someone takes a shower or something. I guess you would also have to worry about trusting all the utility employees that have access to it. My opinion: Find something bigger and badder to worry about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  29. The best way to survive is to be at home. The theatre just doesn't offer what it used to. I mean, we by no means have the finest tv ever made; But my chair sits three feet away from a 55" LED, HD, 3D Samsung. The sound is more than I can tolerate. If that weren't enough, there's a local place here in town that specializes in high end home entertainment. This guy did the home entertainment systems seen on the show 'Nashville', in some woman's home...I dunno. Anyway, he can break the glass in his store front with what he offers. Netflix, redbox, on demand, and a DVR. Deadbolted doors, Ar-15's and castle doctrine. Yep, I watch my movies at home now. The last installation of The Hobbit was and will be the last movie I see in a theater. Fear? Maybe, but if I get shot up during a movie, you can bet it's cause the woman finally had enough of my :poop: and if you're gonna get gunned down, it oughta be by a loved one.

  34. I thought it strange also when I learned the age of this last shooter. But then I guess anyone can be crazy at any age.  I have quit trying to figure out all the craziness going on in this world today. I just know and agree with a couple other folks here that have said, unless I have to pass through a metal detector I'm gonna be armed. If I would have been in that theater when that last guy began his shooting rampage there would have been two guns in that theater. His and Mine and Mine would have been returning hot lead back in his direction. I'm sure he would have been as easy target since everyone around him would have been on the floor and he would be the only one standing.  Everyday I become more and more of a Sheep Dog and less and less a Sheep. I have not been to a movie theater in years and have no plans about going any time soon but even back years ago when I would go with a few family members or friends I always sat in an isle seat and never in the middle of the crowd................jmho

I need to believe that somewhere out there  little Nazarito is being turned into a medical case subject and wax museums from all around the country are bidding furiously with his survivors over the rights to recreate his image in their Darwin exhibits. I need this right now.   Don't take this away from me.   Incredibly, L.A. Community Hospital Dr. Ian Joseffson told local reporters gold-plated scrotums are a growing trend among gang members  in California despite the certainty of death.   ^
