  1. The kids filed into class Monday morning. They were all very excited.  Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on salesmanship .     Little Sally led off.  "I  sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30" she said proudly.  "My  sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success."     "Very good", said the teacher.     Little Debbie was next.  "I sold magazines" she said.  "I  made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events."     "Very good, Debbie", said the teacher.     Eventually, it was Little Johnny 's turn.  The teacher held her breath. Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk.  "$2,467", he said.     "$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?"     "Toothbrushes", said Little   Johnny .     "Toothbrushes", echoed the teacher.  "How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?"     "I found the busiest corner in town", said Little Johnny .  "I set up a Dip Chip stand and I gave everybody who walked by a free sample."  They all said the same thing; "Hey, this tastes like dog poop !"  I would say, "It is dog poop . Wanna buy a toothbrush?"  I used the President Obama method of giving you some crap, dressing it up so it looks good, telling you it's free and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth."     Little Johnny got five stars for his assignment.     Bless his little heart.

  4. Since my registration was up for renewal, I decided to get the Sons Of The Confederate Veterans plate.  The clerk came back with the plate and said, "You got the last one.  As you can imagine there's been quite a demand for them."  B)  Get 'em while they last. :D

  6. This is made from 1/4" thick 1095 carbon steel professionally heat treated to a RC 59-60. It has amboyna burl and black canvas micarta scales with white G10 liners. They are mechanically fastened and epoxied to the blade. And of course it has a lanyard hole and has a satin finish. The blade is just over 10" long with an OAL of 16 1/2". It's a beast. It still needs a sheath....if I can even make one. If you're interested you know how to talk to me. ;)

  7. Well, I bet the folks at this party didn't figure there was going to be a threat, either.  Good thing there was a gun handy or more of the party goers might have died.   http://thefreethoughtproject.com/cop-opens-fire-ex-girlfriends-family-break-up-killed-brother/   Things like domestic violence and so on often increase on holidays and the 'threat' doesn't have to be someone who was invited to the party.  Combine being depressed because she (or he) left with plenty of booze and the extra salt in the wound of knowing the ex is having a good time at a party with someone else and a threat could pop up real quick like.  .I would really rather not end up as collateral damage just because some jackhole gets pissed that his ex-girlfriend is at a party with another dude - or for any other, stupid reason.  So, again, I'd carry - especially since I wouldn't know most of the folks at the party.  And to turn the statement about 'if you think you will need a gun then you probaby shouldn't go to the party' around, if they think they need to frisk/wand people at the door then that probably ain't a party I want to go to.   Good thing for me is that most of the folks who would invite me to a party (that I would actually attend) are people I have been friends with since high school.  They know I carry, they know I am almost certainly carrying when I come into their homes and they don't care - they don't usually even ask unless it is a question like, "So what are you carrying, lately?"   From the article linked, above:

  12. Well, July 3rd purchase, but in the spirit of the 4th. I have been eyeing a Sig 320 for a while, but hadn't come accross the right deal. Just happened to go by Smokey Mountain Knife Works on the morning of the 3rd, and there she was! P320 9mm Compact in FDE, with tritium night sights for $499+TICS and Tax. I hadn't been seeing the SigLight night-sights versions for a price like this, so jumped on it. They have them normally around $560 I think, but are running a sale on them while supply lasts. I have only put about 20 rounds of junk Wolf ammo through it, but really like the trigger. It came with a FOBUS style holster and two 15rd mags. I had bought a 250C for my wife a few years ago, and in spite of the long trigger pull she shot it pretty well. I think she will really like shooting this one with the much shorter striker trigger.

  16. It could be done. You'd need an intermediary sizing die. Push through Lee is best for this so you don't bend the bullets. A very real problem when sizng heavy. A mold that drops .314 could be sized back to .311 easy enough though. If you're interested we can discuss more later when I'm on a real computer

  19. My brother-in-law has been telling me I should look long and hard at a 300BLK and get one.   So far, I've resisted on the basis of another caliber and cost. But if this should make ammo cheaper, that sure would be an inducement for me.

  21. Cleansing sounds better. Libs may be able to relate to this word better as they have used it in the past. Besides i posted this comment on facebook hoping to pis a lib off. So far no luck.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_cleansing Cultural cleansing is the eradication and destruction of cultural artifacts, such as books, artworks, and structures, and the suppression of cultural activities that do not conform to the destroyer's notion of what is appropriate. Motives may include the religious (e.g., iconoclasm), as part of a campaign of ethnic cleansing to remove the evidence of a people from a locale or history, as part of an effort to implement a Year Zero, in which the past and its associated culture is deleted and history is "reset", the suppression of an indigenous culture by invaders and colonisers, along with many other potential reasons.

  27.   From what I have read here, I don't think anyone is saying to carry a gun in spite of a homeowner's wishes.  Rather that carrying is a non-issue that they don't feel the need to ask a homeowner anymore than they need to ask a business owner who hasn't posted a sign.  In other words, lack of specific prohibition notice equates to the "king" is ok with you carrying.   Let's take the "man's home is castle" analogy a little further.  Did each and every knight remove his sword before entering the castle?  Or did the king (at least then non-paranoid ones) understand that an armed man can enter his domain without automatically being a danger?  Did the king not even expect his guest to potentially defend the castle if needed?   I'll share a quote from a poster on GeorgiaPacking.Org that I find relevant to this situation:      I completely understand that you can make rules for your own property, but I don't think you should get upset if someone breaks a rule they don't know about.

  28. I am a firm believer that a person's home is their castle and they have every right to choose who they let into it or not for whatever reason(s). Same way I believe every business has every right to do the same. The simple solution to this whole issue is to make it known before it happens instead of freaking out when does. If you don't want to do it verbally with every house guest put a gun-busters sign/sticker up on your door, or come up with some other method to make it loud and clear. I don't notify every single business I walked into that I armed and make sure it is kosher with them, nor do I do that when visiting friends and family's homes. I don't see this as a respect or disrespect issue because to me my carry guns are not a taboo thing. They are simply tools, just another part of my edc attire. Every time you go out in public, whether knowingly or unknowingly, you are around other people who are armed. I guess I just don't see the difference just because you have invited them into your home. If you do, well that is your prerogative but I still say you need to make it known ahead of time or not freak out when ya find out someone is carrying.

  29. They are not really tennis balls but you could use TBs. These were at a hardware store as dog toys and look like TBs but they are harder and were 3 to a package for like a dollar. I used a spade bit and drilled a hole through one side then used a short screw.

  31. The point of the post about the South Carolina statute was to interject into the conversation evidence that, contrary to what a lot of people posting in this thread seem to think,  a substantial number of people in this country think carrying into a residence unnanounced is offensive, some even to a point of criminality.  I'm well aware that Tennessee has no such statute.   I really find it incongruous that the same guys who will go to hell and back to defend the rule that "a man's home is his castle" will toss that rule aside so readily when it comes to carrying their guns into that castle without permission.

  36. Yes I saw this and it is so true. These people get it! They are not fooled by the media and politicians. It is the talking heads like Sharpton, Jackson and the rest of the uninformed so called "Black leaders" that keep spewing this garbage on gun control. These self appointed political tools are well paid by the left. Sharpton has had over 30 meeting with Obdumbo.  What they fail to realize is once they are of no use to their "Masters" they will be discarded and  enslaved like the rest of us. This video needs to be circulated so everyone can see.

  40. I would happily buy any one of them a one way ticket today to any foreign country of their choosing.  The only stipulation I would require is that they leave for two years, and at the end of that time should they want to repatriate, they repay me 150% of the original ticket price.

  41. Me personally , if they make it known my gun isn't welcome then I figure neither am I. I value my life more than their feelings. I realize that stance isn't for everyone though so yah got three options, go without, go with or ask them if they're cool with it ahead of time. As for the folks pooping their pants about people coming over armed without announcing they are... if you don't trust them to not be a criminal and potentially attack you, why the hell are you letting them in your house to begin with???

  44. Unless I plan on drinking, I have and continue to carry in people's homes. Concealed means concealed.   For me its not so much as I think I need the gun in my friends home (I try not to associate with folks like that) so much as I can't control what happens during the car ride over, and my gun is at a higher risk of being stolen if its left in my car.

  45. The murder statutes are 100% reciprocal....If you get killed somewhere that does not allow guns , you'll still be dead in all the places that do allow guns....   If you find yourself somewhere that it is "good manners" to disarm and you get killed there because something unforeseen happened and you are killed by someone who is  not quite so good mannered while you were disarmed you are still dead everywhere else too.....   If it were me (which it isn't) I'd carry and skip the beer. Anyone asks why I'm not drinking I deflect that by telling 'em I'm taking antibiotics for something.
