  1. Me? I'd unload it, turn it in to the cops and let the person explain why they left their gun. I got plenty and don't want something that belongs to someone else.

  2. As of 7/1/14 I started carrying a .44 mag, fully loaded, down the crack between the driver's & center seat of my truck. Not because I think I'll ever need it, not because I'm paranoid, not because I live in a high crime area...but because for the first time in my 40 years on this rock, I can & the Law says I can & that, THAT, is why I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to be able to live here.

  5. Lighten up on the guy. He hasn't been around long enough to know that this group protects its own like no other group on the Internet. Ask me how I know. :) I believe that I'm the longest tenured liberal communist on the site. Mikegideon, 6.8AR (miss him, smart guy) and a few others would routinely take me to the octagon whenever they felt that I had gotten the wrong impression about a member or took their comments out of context. I've since learned that mikegideon can find humor in almost any situation, but he will always give reliable advice when it comes to guns. I think he once told me something to the effect of "I look after my friends". That statement changed my entire opinion of the forum and how I interacted with other members. In time the op will have met a few members, shot a few thousand rounds, conducted a few transactions, had a beer/coffee while chatting and getting to know that TGO is a band of brothers who scrap a little amongst ourselves, but will destroy anyone from the outside who threatens a brother or the integrity of this forum. I hope that he sticks around because a few more spices will enhance the flavor of the stew. If we all always agreed on everything we would have nothing more than a big circle jerk, and we are better than that.

  6. If we're getting explantations, I got some questions too.     1. Too, two, to, WTF? I mean really? Explain that!   2. Magnets, how do those even work? Witches?   3. If Ted left his house at 6:35AM and arrived at work at 7:40AM, worked 3 hours before lunch and then worked another 4 hours after, how much pizza did Ted eat for lunch?   4. Potato or potato? Why?   5. Remember that guy form MacGyver? Not MacGyver, but his one friend who helped him out sometimes, what was his name?   6. Can you feel the love tonight?   7. Will we ever have a gay black albino women president? Would being a "little person" hurt or help the campaign?   8. Why do I always get so sleepy right before I go to sleep?   9. Have you seen my wallet?   10. Can I have $20.00?       Since there is apparently a secret TGO hierarchy I wasn't aware of and I've been here longer than the OP, I think it would be in poor form to address his grievances before tackling my list.    You didn't have anything important to do anyways today, right David? ;)

  18. December 1998 I started to noticed my legs felt weak when I tried to get up from a sitting position.  It got worse and by Feb. 99, I could no longer walk without the use of a walker. I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, the chronic form of Guillain Barre Syndrome.  Take a flu shot these days and you will sign a paper saying that you understand that the shot you are taking has not been proven to cause GBS. I had a flu shot that year and the first question I was asked by every doc I saw, "Have you taken a flu shot? "  By 2000 I had my own power wheelchair, and had to have help to get in it.  I spent the next 7 years mostly in bed unable to care for myself. I was 6'4, weighed 225, and by 2006 I was down to 145lbs.  I improved a bit on immune suppressive drugs and I started chemo every other month. By 2010 I could get out of bed, walk a few feet, and make it to the john.  Yay!!!  Still life sucked.  I could only find 2 other guys here in Mid Tn. that had it and I was the last to start the experimental chemo drug Rituxian.  6 months after I started it, one of the guys passed from pneumonia, his immune system too weak to fight it.  The other one called me, shook up about it.  He said he was going to look into the Stem Cell he had heard about. This was 2011.  It turned out that Northwestern University in Chicago was doing clinical trials on stem cell transplants and CIDP.  He became the 17 person to undergo it.  The first person was done 2005, just to show how slow it was. He urges me to go to NWU as they only were going to do 20 folks at first.  I went and was rejected.  They said I didn't meet the study requirements and they thought mine might be in remission.  I came home, and they stopped all my meds.  Boom.  Stuck in bed again.  I was pissed.  They contacted me to return, but my friend was sick all the time from his, and I decided to hold off and see how he did.  FF to Fall 2012 and he is walking from his parked car to the Titians games. Going to concerts.  My family elders were sick and I figured the first study was over by now anyways, so I didn't contact NWU.   In Feb. 2013 he went to back to NWU for his yearly eval.   The transplant doctor told him to contact me and ask me to come back.  My dad was ill and I held off.  The phone rang one morning and the transplant doc was on the line.  No nurse, the Man himself  He said he was sorry I had to go without my drugs and if I would come back to Chicago he would/could help me.  On October 15, 2013 after destroying my immune system with chemo, I received my own stem cells back. I was the 50th person to undergo this for CIDP.  2014 was rough, in the hospital 3 times with Pneumonia, lots of fever with no found cause etc.  I started getting stronger tho.  No more immune suppressive drugs since Dec. 2013.  Today, 18 months post transplant, haven't been sick in 6 months, I can walk, although I do use a cane when I'm in crowds and tired.  I'm back up to about 200 lbs.  My arms and legs are still skinny from muscle atrophy, and I get tired quick. I suffered nerve damage and I will never be normal, can't fix that.  But they stopped it.  After 15 years of hell. I'm telling you this story to pass the word  They are resetting the immune system back to normal.. They have done over 500 people with MS the last 10 years with good results.  Clinical trials are ongoing for just about every autoimmune disease that exist.     I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has.  Here is a link.  http://stemcell-immunotherapy.com/  you also find success stories and info on youtube if you search the transplant doctors name.  Dr. Richard Burt. Making history and changing the world. I never did meet the requirements for the study, my case was even more rare than others.  He did me on a compassionate basis and will write a paper on me..  Special..   ;)   Disclaimer:  I'm not making money nor am I affiliated with NWU.  I'm just a TN. born and bred disease kicking MF..   CELEBRATE LIFE!!!     Edit: I had Feb on the brain, my transplant was in October 2013, not Feb.  I been on the phone scheduling my yearly follow up  and thats what prompted my post.  I went back at 6 months and 1 year, and I go back once a year for 5 years.

  19. There have been a few threads lately about the “Good Ole Days”. One thing I see all the time that is significantly different from the good ole days is what people will say when they think they are protected. When I was running around as a young man (circa 70’s, 80’s) we had all the things they have today. Road rage; we had it. But if you participated in it, it would usually end with someone taking an azz beating and the cops weren’t called. Arguments, bar fights, etc.; same thing, you either shut up, left, or threw down. As a cop in the late 70’s and early 80’s I responded to many of those types of calls. We had what we called “Mutual Combat”. If you got in a fight in a bar or with your neighbor because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut, and then wanted the Police to arrest them; it generally wasn’t happening if you were a willing participant. I told them it was mutual combat and if they were adamant that they wanted to file a complaint I told them I would arrest them both and let the States Attorney make the call. (They wouldn’t prosecute two willing participants running their mouths that led to a fight anyway.) I’ve seen many people say things and show disrespect that I’m sure they wouldn’t do in front of a person. You have responsibility for the things you say and do. You have anonymity on the internet (to some degree) but not so much out in public. If you argue with someone to the point of name calling; you shouldn’t get to file a complaint if you get your azz beat. The cops should tell you “Don’t be stupid next time.” and leave. Of course with our liberal bleeding hearts making a big deal of it the cops can’t handle it that way anymore. Today those bleeding heart liberals think they can say whatever they want and if someone punches them out; they will shoot them. That was murder in the good ole days. Is my thinking messed up on this?

  20.   Dunno why it's hard.   It's against the law to have a loaded firearm in public in TN. However, one of the exceptions is having it in a private vehicle assuming you are not otherwise prohibited by law to own/possess firearms period.   Note that this does not cover storing gun in vehicle on school property or posted lots though -- that still requires having a permit.   - OS

  21.   Tell the idiot cops to read TCA 39-17-1307, which they are responsible for enforcing, wherein is found:   "(e)  (1) It is an exception to the application of subsection (a) [unlawful possession or carry of a firearm] that a person is carrying or possessing a firearm or firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle if the person:       (A) Is not prohibited from possessing or receiving a firearm by 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or purchasing a firearm by § 39-17-1316; and       ( B ) Is in lawful possession of the motor vehicle.    (2) As used in this subsection (e):       (A) "Motor vehicle" has the same meaning as defined in § 55-1-103;       ( B ) "Motor vehicle" does not include any motor vehicle that is:          (i) Owned or leased by a governmental or private entity that has adopted a written policy prohibiting firearms or ammunition not required for employment within such a motor vehicle; and          (ii) Provided by such entity to an employee for use during the course of employment."   - OS

  22. Anyone not prohibited from gun ownership by federal or state law may have any type loaded firearms in his personal vehicle in TN for over a year now.   The "long gun without one in chamber" (for permit holders only) clause was zapped at same time.   - OS

  24.   The classic joke regarding the little old lady who responds to cop inquiry:   "yes, I've got a .45 right beside me, a shotgun behind the seat, and an AR-15 and AR-10 in the trunk, with plenty of ammo for all of them".   Cop: "Good Lord lady, what are you so afraid of?"   Lady: "Not much of anything".   - OS

  25.   I was under the impression that is no longer the case. When they passed constitutional vehicle carry back on 7/1/14 I thought you could now carry with a round in the chamber either with or without a HCP. This applied to any firearm, not just handguns.   Mac should be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong.

  27.   I think this is well said.  I understand that someone new coming in and making what some may consider to be egregious statements is not recommended, but I also think some are too quick to jump on the crucifixion bandwagon.  I think a simple word of warning from the admin's (which I am sure does happen) will slow down a lot of these threads, but part of the blame also goes to those who know better than to egg them on and make it a bigger issue.  Don't get me wrong, it can be fun, but it isn't productive.  Nothing wrong with stating a disagreement of opinion, but attacking someone usually isn't necessary.  If they are an obvious troll, just ignore them.   I admit that at times, it seems like there is a double standard applied based on how popular someone is or how long they have been here, but I think it has more to do with those members having an established baseline of reasonable discussion.  It isn't even about agreeing, it is about having an intellectual discussion.       I hope we all take this chance to think about what we are posting and how it could be perceived.  Some are better at conveying emotions or facetiousness than others. I am sure we all have those who we like and relate to, and those who we know what they are going to say before even reading their post and shaking our head, but that is simply how life works.     I won't be bullied by anyone on this forum or in real life, but there is a time to pick your battles.  We are all passionate about something, but that doesn't mean that others can't have a contradictory opinion.  I think some need to learn the idea of "we will agree to disagree" and move on.  This board is much more fun when we are talking guns, joking, and not always worried about when the sky is going to fall.

It's pretty simple... folks lighten up when you quit pissing them off. First thing this bunch does with anybody is welcome them, especially if they bother to post in the new member section.   PS, It ain't a good idea to call a Marine a terrorist, especially one that plays with knives :)

  32. If everybody saying something is awesome is the measure of being awesome, then this thread is awesome. I have a different measure. This thread is mediocre at best. One guy speaking his mind(or trolling, I don't know), a bunch of guys calling him names, a bunch of other guys encouraging it. This feels mean.

OK, well I choose to believe that the sticker says "I'm pretty freakin awesome and I like to mock people" not "break in and steal".   Besides, one look inside will tell them, it isn't worth it.    You can have all the dog hair, empty water bottles and burned CDs you want. They're all replaceable. Oh, and I have a few Food Lion mailers they send for some reason too.

For example how many warning points do I have?   And hopefully you understand that it is sometimes better to walk away when you are wrong rather than try to argue that you are right.     See you in another week.

  47. Well for the last 12 or so years, I have been wanting to go to the Blade show, today it finally happened, I was like a kid in the biggest candy store in this world, I got to meet all the Knife makers that I have been friends with on the internet, it was a pleasure to put a face to all the names I know.   I probably handled more than 500k worth of knives today but restrained myself to only one Purchase I got a very special stainless steel Magic knife from my friend Dave who owns Protech. For those of you who know how special his knives are, let me just say getting to know Dave and his Father today, they are some of the best people that I am proud to call friends.     I am planning on attending all 3 days  next year and will be stashing cash for the show, if any of you are wondering if the trip to Atlanta is worth it let me just say if you like any edged tool on this earth, you will absolutely love it :usa:
