  1. I will make sure to find me a knife fighting class before I use one for self defense. Matter of fact I don't think I have enough gun training to carry. After all being in the military, being in law enforcement as well as carrying a firearm for work in hostile environments probably isn't enough for your requirements. Personally the ONLY people who should not be allowed are those who have a proven VIOLENT history. I don't care if someone is a felon or bat#### crazy as long as they are not violent they should be able to use any means necessary, including fully automatic grenade launching machine guns, to protect themselves even if they do not have a single second of training. You, my friend, are the worst kind of gun owner. One that wants to limits other gun owners for their own reasons.

  3. Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others. But, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was not the senior citizens who took   The melody out of music, The pride out of appearance, The romance out of love, The commitment out of marriage, The responsibility out of parenthood, The togetherness out of the family, The learning out of education, The service out of patriotism, The religion out of school, The Golden Rule from rulers, The nativity scene out of cities, The civility out of behavior, The refinement out of language, The dedication out of employment, The prudence out of spending, or The ambition out of achievement, And we certainly are not the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others! Does anyone under the age of 50 know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner? Just look at those Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts! And, unless many of our younger generation learn to count in the absence of computers and calculators, they will be back to counting on fingers and toes. Remember.......Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what in the world happened.

  5. THE STORY OF MY GUN………….. * Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06  right in the doorway.  I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone  and went about my business.   While I was gone, the mailman delivered my  mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked  her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign  near the front of my house. After about an hour, I checked on the gun.  It was still sitting there,  right where I had left it.  It hadn't moved itself outside.  It  certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it  had presented to do so. In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the  Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people.  Either the  media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world. The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World.  But if you  take out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and New Orleans,  the United States is 4th from the bottom, in the entire world, for Murders. These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S.  ALL  4 of these cities are controlled by Democrats.  It would be absurd to  draw any conclusions from this data -right? Well, I'm off to check on my spoons.  I hear they're making people fat.

  7. I'll be down there playing tomorrow and Friday if anybody's out and about and wants to stop by! I'll be on the Hard Rock main stage outside at 4 pm, and then at Fan Jam over at the Fairgrounds at 7. Then Friday I'm at the Wildhorse at 4 pm which is gonna be awesome. I know it's something a lot of locals avoid, but just throwing it out there! I'll be the guy trying to not print with only a t-shirt concealing a 92 on stage.

  12. My wife and I went on a trip to Savannah Georgia this week. We were looking at a World War Two monument there when a little girl and her mother walked up. The little girl looked up and read curiously...."World War Eleven." :ugh: What really bothered me is that her mother heard this and never corrected here. I don't suspect she knew any better either. This country is in trouble folks.

  13. Maybe new members should read a few threads and posts on TGO before they comment, just a suggestion, not saying make it a rule. They will soon find that members here do not compromise when it comes to our freedoms and the Constitution. We all know the real definition of compromise: is the same as "surrender".

  14. Yes, it covers all states no matter where you live. You can create a castle anywhere you like and then you can create a free fire zone around it. If you shoot someone and then aren’t really sure if they were a threat; it’s okay, just drag them inside. As long as they are inside the cops can’t do anything. It’s true; I have read it on the internet.

  17. Just to stir the pot...   Who would it be that DIDN'T pass these things on to their children, and their children's children?   Not trying to stand on a soapbox or anything, just trying to off a view without blinders on.   If a child is raised wrong, is it the school's fault, or the parent's? Each generation laments about the loss of respect and decency in the world, yet at the end of the day, it is ourselves who are to blame. It is our generation that failed to properly prepare the generation we begat. Not the school, not the government, not the television, us, the parents.   Myself? I know that my daughter isn't being raised the way I was. My senior citizen parent was a junkie who was self obsessed. My daughter is being raised by two loving parents that are concerned with her well being and future.             Just some thoughts to mull over there. ;)

  18. Why is it that all of the people that scream "it's for the children" in order to take our guns away also believe that it is perfectly fine to abort an unwanted child? It really grinds my gears when Obama gets up on stage and signs anti gun legislation and has a bunch of kids standing around him, but he never does that when he's talking about "a woman's right to choose."

  21. Like most gun enthusiasts who own an AR 15, I've read all the rules of maintenance and cleaning, and taken the time to learn them and abide by them...............well almost. Remember the rule about never trying to clean out the gas key with a Q-Tip? Well heck, I've not only never used a Q-Tip to clean out a gas key, I've always thought they were pretty useless and I didn't even know I owned any of the durn thangs. BUT, it seems that yesterday I was cleaning my AR and came upon some generic Q-Tips with long wooden sticks, so I started experimenting around with cleaning the locking lugs and so on - just to see what they could be used for. Well, they are small diameter Q-Tips, so I sluiced one up with solvent and ran it into the gas key. Boy it worked like a champ, so I ran a second one in and - heh, heh, heh, the stick came out but the cotton head didn't.  AW-POO!! REALLY AW-POO!!   I tried just about everything known to man to get the cotton tip out of the key without success - tapping, tiny hook in a piece of .031 lock wire, air blast from the other end, all of them. By this time I figured Spike's was going to sell a new gas key and some bolts when I decided to try one last desperate thing. I stood the bolt up and filled the key up with oil, then I went out to the garage and looked up a short, very small diameter, sharp, drywall screw. I pushed it into the key until it stopped, then I started pushing and turning the screw with my fingers until it wouldn't turn any more, then I eased it out. Well y'all, I'm luckier than I have any right to be, 'cause the oily cotton tip got all wound up in the screw threads and came right out bigtime. And it didn't damage the key in any way. So if any of you ever decide to get a little stupid (like me) and try a Q-Tip in your gas key, you might try the drywall screw thing to get it out before your buds find out what a dumba.. you are (like me).   I think I'm goin' to the casino. :pleased:

  22. One of the finest actors ever to step foot in hollywood.  Rest in peace ole buddy.   Dracula, Count Dooku, Saruman, the list goes on.  The man was making movies before any of us was even born.....well, except maybe OhhShoot, He was probably in the ticket line for his debut performance.  LOL!!!!!!!       He also had, what I believe to be, one of the two finest voices in show business.  James Earl Jones and Christopher Lee are the two most POWERFUL voices one will ever on the big screen.   You will be missed Mr. Lee.....but hey, death is unavoidable and the man passed away at 93!!!!!  What a helluva run he had!!!!!

  28. Are you deburring them?  New brass often has some right nasty burrs from the extruding process and even high end companies like Starline can't be bothered to chamfer cases.  The inside burr will grab the expander.

  31. Chickens are great. Nothing like fresh eggs from your own chickens. This is my dad's setup. The nesting boxes have latched doors on the outside so eggs can be gathered from the outside, and right inside the door there is a 2 ft space, then a wall built from lumber and chicken wire. The water and feed goes in the space and the chickens can easily reach there heads through for both, but don't knock it over and mess in it so bad. Walk in doors for cleaning are a huge plus. This one is built out of Oak lumber. We cut the timber, then used a band mill to turn it into lumber and build the bate and board style coop. Sent from the backwoods

  33. The Judge and other .45LC/.410 handguns are .45 Colts with a chamber big enough to handle the shotgun shell.   A .410 shotgun has a .410 diameter bore.  The .45 LC shoots a .452-.454 diameter bullet.  It's a recipe for disaster if you ask me and even though the .45 LC is a low pressure round, the .410 is even lower.  That gun was simply not designed for it.   Maybe it's doable but I wouldn't take the chance.  If you decide to please have a someone video it.   There's also the lack of rifling in the bore.  Why waste a $1-2 bullet that will fly who knows where.

  34.   Hillary Clinton goes to her doctor for a physical, only to find out that she's pregnant. She is furious! Here she is about to run for President and this has happened to her. She calls Bill on the phone and immediately starts screaming: "How could you have let this happen? With all that's going on right now, you go and get me pregnant! How could you???!!!   I can't believe this! I just found out I am five weeks pregnant and it’s all your fault!!! YOUR FAULT!!! Well, what have you got to say???"          There is nothing but dead silence on the end of the phone.          She screams again, "DID YOU HEAR ME???!!!" Finally, she hears Bill's very, very quiet voice. In a barely audible whisper, he says, "Who is this?"

  35. Well our first venture into the world of poultry has begun. We got out first ten feathered friends yesterday. The coop took me about a week to build and that was probably a miracle. I have to say I have no prior carpentry training and before this the most I had built was a set of shelves. The building was already there so that helped. I think it turned out pretty darn good.

  36. The biggest failure I have seen over the years with autos that wasn't operator error was magazine failure. If you don't have a backup magazine you have a single shot handgun. I have seen a couple of broken firing pins on Sigmas and a couple of broken extractors.

  37. Wake me up when they offer a VP45.  This was necessary for them to pursue the striker-fired police service pistol market, but the .40SW is just not a cartridge I care about anymore.  Everything I carry now is either 9mm or .45ACP

  41. Ray... We load lots of 44 special on our dillon too... I've never had any trouble with re-sizing or belling... I always completely resize and use carbide dies on pistols... The carbides are "slicker" than the steel dies (...i think, anyway...)...   In your particular case; it sounds like there may be a machining mark on the belling die plug... I would pull it out and give it a good goin over with a magnifying glass and see if i could see the mark... If the plug is carbide, i would call dillon for a replacement... If it's steel, i would think about polishing it out out if i didn't want to send it back...   Let us know what ya find...   Hope this helps... leroy

  42. I am considering joining this range, but the distance from Nashville is holding me back. I would only be able to go on weekends and often times weekends are already busy for me. On that note, how busy are the weekends at the range? How many rifle bays are at each distance as I didn't see this information on their website?
