  1. A cop stops a Harley for travelling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name. 'Fred,' he replies. 'Fred what?' the officer asks. 'Just Fred,' the man responds. The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name. The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it. The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?' The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so stay with me.' I was born Fred Dingaling. I know -- a funny last name. The kids used to tease me all the time, so I stayed to myself, studied hard and got good grades. When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Dingaling, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school.. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through school, got my degree, so then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS. Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD. Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Dingaling with VD. Then the VD took away my Dingaling, so now I am Just Fred.'

  4.   While I would aggressively defend myself from a cager who tried to use his car as a weapon against me, I go to great lengths to not piss them off in the first place. I also don't shoot at Apaches with my 9mm for the exact same reason. It's just not smart to piss off people who have you so outgunned.

  8. Well folks. I'm reminded that all things happen for a reason. I turned down a job offer in Nashville and ended up getting a transfer/promotion with my current company. We will be moving back to Knoxville the end of July! This is where we really wanted to be. The new job is just 10 minutes from my mom's house.   I feel blessed.

  9. I personally run the Midwest Industries Aimpoint T1 specific top cover on my Saiga. The red dot mounts directly to the top half of the handguard. I've had that gun very, very, hot and I've never seen any change in the optic. I would recommend the Ultimak railed tube as well. Several buddies run it and it's solid. 10. Haha! Unlike some women I prefer my husband to be a man. So he carries his all the time! LOL i think the reason he married me was because when he does need someone to bring him back to reality I can do it with a simple convo. Plus I also have a mean side so when he needs someone to be handled, he lets me do the talking. He and I work well together. I'm the mean one, he's the big one! LOL

  11. Jennifer, a manager at   Wal-Mart, had the task of hiring someone to fill a job opening. After sorting through a stack of resumes she found four people who were equally qualified. Jennifer decided to call the four in and ask them only one question. Their answer would determine which of them would get the job. The day came and as the four sat around the conference room table, Jennifer asked, 'What is the fastest thing you know of?' The first man replied, 'A THOUGHT.' It just pops into your head. There's no warning. 'That's very good!' replied Jennifer. 'And, now you sir?', she asked the second man. 'Hmmm...let me see 'A blink! It comes and goes and you don't know that it ever happened. A BLINK is the fastest thing I know of.' 'Excellent!' said Jennifer. 'The blink of an eye, that's a very popular cliché for speed.' She then turned to the third man, who was contemplating his reply. 'Well, out at my dad's ranch, you step out of the house and on the wall there's a light switch. When you flip that switch, way out across the pasture the light on the barn comes on in less than an instant. 'Yep, TURNING ON A LIGHT is the fastest thing I can think of'. Jennifer was very impressed with the third answer and thought she had found her man. 'It’s hard to beat the speed of light,' she said. Turning to BUBBA, the fourth and final man, Jennifer posed the same question. Old Bubba replied, 'After hearing the previous three answers, it's obvious to me that the fastest thing known is DIARRHEA.' 'WHAT!?' said Jennifer, stunned by the response. 'Oh sure', said BUBBA. 'You see, the other day I wasn't feeling so good, and I ran for the bathroom, but before I could THINK, BLINK, or TURN ON THE LIGHT, I had already shit my pants.' BUBBA is now the new greeter at a Wal-Mart near you! You probably will think of this every time you enter a Wal-Mart from now on!

  12. I have  a deputy sheriff friend who doesn't even use a conversion barrel, he just drops a 34 OEM barrel into his 35 and goes to town.  I asked him about this one time and he told me for shooting steel the accuracy and reliability is just fine.  I think I would go for the conversion barrel regardless.

  13. From the article:" As Sam filtered to the front of traffic at a stop light," I take that to mean he was going in between cars and not in a lane of his own, to get to the front, at the stop light. Not too smart, or too legal. Then he is going to drop the F word on the guy driving 2 tons of BMW, while he is sitting on 800 pounds of scooter. Again, not too smart.  I am in no way saying that the driver of the cage had a right to hit the guy on the bike. I hope they put him in jail and throw away the key. But, Sam doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb on the string, either. Like peejman said "That didn't work out quite so well".

  14. The camo one, most of y'all have seen in my paint thread. The other two I just finished. The TGO lower I bought already assembled from a member here, and the Spike's Tactical I put together (my first one ever). One upper is a PSA and the other is a Radical Firearms upper, both with free float handguards. I can't claim to have completely built these since the barrels were on the uppers that I bought, but I am still wanting to do one complete from scratch just to say I did. Anyway, here they are. Here are some closer pics at the RF upper.

  15.   The first one I got was a drop-in for my M&P Sport. Second was a 15" free float and I forgot to do the tighten and loosen thing too. It's been perfectly fine. Third is a 12" on my AR pistol and I did remember to tighten and loosen, but can't tell a bit of difference. I assume it's got something to do with making sure the anti-seize compound gets into all the threads, but I'm not positive. I torqued both to exactly 35 ft lbs too. I LOVE the fact that the gas tube didn't have to go through the barrel nut too!   Did you have to use any spacers?

  21. I stopped by there today for just a quick look around and was impressed by the look, layout, floor space, and the amount of guns and accessories.  Black rifles and pistols galore.     I didn't compare many prices, but the ones I did look at appeared to be in the ballpark compared to other shops.   Once they get the range up, I think this has the makings of a good shop as long as they treat people right.

  25.     80k seems early for struts to go, but it depends heavily on how it was driven.  Frequent gravel roads or unbalanced tires will kill them in short order.   $1100 seems a little high to me, but all the stuff adds up quick.  Get an itemized quote and do a little reality check.

  26. Sorry but no way @ $750 w/ no side rail.  Factory built wasr's are still the way to go at this point for a full size rifle.  With Cugir, Zastava, Molot, and Century all fielding better product(arguably in some cases) for lower prices I expect them to have a hard time competing once the "new" wears off.  Add on top of that the fact that Arsenal's can be had for a couple of bills more with all the bells and whistles.

  29. I had no problems with a 9mm conversion barrel when I had a 27. I dropped in the barrel, used a 26 magazine and it was perfectly reliable. I wouldn't bother switching anything else unless you want to carry it with 9mm.

  30. If it is 100% reliable don't bother with changing the extractor. In fact, there are many stories of people running 40 extractors in their 34/17/19/26 to help cure ejection problems.

  32. So I've been really itching to complete an upper instead of buying one already built. I finally got a chance to do it once I got all the parts and tools. I'm very happy to have finally done it, but I learned one thing for sure "I HATE ROLL PINS!". Well, the one for the gas tube anyway! I think the next one will be easier after some reading and talking to friends (Thanks LukeE) about tips. Anyway, enough of my rambling. 35. Reagan won the cold war and indirectly caused the fall of the Soviet Union. The Soviets overspent on weapons to the point that their entire economy collapsed. Their leaders' overspending on the military was a direct response to Reagan's policies. Had he sought to appease the Soviet Union, they would have done what Iran is doing now.... stalling and building their forces at a more sustainable pace.   Today, our government is doing exactly the opposite of Reagan. We're overspending on nonproductive social programs and compromising with Iran on nuclear weapons.

  40. Well, I have a pretty good idea about the Muslin/Islam issue now and thank all for that. I guess unless the police and Homeland Security can catch the bad ones planning on hurting a lot of people and can stop them in time we will some day experience  more things like the Boston Marathon Bombings across the country. As far as Presidents Kennedy was a good one for what time he got to prove it. I think he would have been a  good one. Since then I guess Reagan would be next in line but only on a few issues. He showed the Unions who is really the boss when he fired unionized Traffic Controllers that were on strike. put military controllers in the airports until he could get new non union controllers trained and in the towers or allowed any that wanted to return in a non union status could go back to work. He also brought the jobs back and straightened out the budget from the brink of disaster and got people back working, Helped in getting the Wall torn down and fixed relations with Russia......................

I read somewhere that a man once drew his pistol on someone that tried to harm him with a vehicle and was not charged with anything. I would've done a lot worse than just head butt him. I'd gladly give it to him knowing full well the consequences that come with my actions and I wouldn't for a second ask forgiveness for dishing out what was so desperately needed. In fact, I'd request the key to the city.

  46. I always try to get unique presents for my mom and I like to think that at least one of the gifts I got her this past Mother's Day was right in line with that. Mom used to have a rather long-bladed knife (basically looked like a 'fruit sampling' folder) that she carried in her purse. The blade on it was long enough that she worried it might not be strictly legal to carry so she put it up 'somewhere'. I told her recently about TN having repealed any and all blade length limits but she couldn't remember where exactly the 'somewhere' she had put her knife was. I figured she needed a good knife to carry in her purse for chores such as peeling an apple if she were out somewhere and wanted to do so and similar tasks. I also figured it didn't need to be 'fancy' just a good, solid knife. I decided to look at Opinel knives as they seem to have such a good reputation. I decided that one of their knives might be just the thing and the wooden handle gave me an idea so I ordered her a No. 8 carbon bladed model from Amazon. That might not be a great gift for every mom out there but my mom isn't necessarily typical. When it arrived, it looked pretty much like I imagine every other Opinel No. 8 carbon on the planet looks when it leaves the factory: As for the idea inspired by the wooden handle, I almost think that was the best part. My mom likes to collect things with roses on them. In the past, for her birthday, Mother's Day and so on I have bought her various pieces of costume jewelry featuring roses. I thought it might be a neat personal touch if her knife had a rose on it, too, so I broke out some fine Sharpies and drew a stylized rose on it. I then decided to try and 'set' the colors using a heat gun. I liked how that worked but it kind of 'baked' the wood in that area a little darker than the rest. At first I was disappointed but soon realized that it made kind of a 'background' which actually set the rose off a little more. Of course, it also dried the wood a little so I rubbed it with a few coats of boiled linseed oil. I think it came out looking pretty good. I originally intended the rose to look a little more realistic but the challenges of drawing freehand on a smallish, rounded surface made the final results look more like tattoo art. That's okay, though as, while mom doesn't have any tattoos and I can't imagine her having any, she does sometimes like t-shirts and the like with that type of art on them. Anyhow, this is how it turned out:
