It's made from 1/8" thick 1095 carbon steel and the blade is just over 4 1/4" with an OAL of 9 1/4". It has jimping on the spine and Black MOP Kirinite handles. That's right...they call it black but it's more silver than black to me. It has an unsharpened swedge and is nice and light and sharp as a razor. It has two tone blue and white liners, lanyard hole and includes the sheath if anyone is interested. The design in the blade is permanently etched into it. It's not like lazer etching on some blades where when you hit it with a sanding pad it will come right off. I kinda do what Raoul does, I just have to be cautious of any shards, I have noticed that they draw the dogs attention, not so sure that is a good thing though, and of course it runs everyone off cept one of my grandsons who sits there and laughs with me.2 points

Thanks! They're a lot prettier as a freezer full of sausages! :D Unfortunately I only managed the 2 over the weekend (both on Friday night & only 10 minutes apart) but both ran well north of 150 pounds. I'm not sure exactly their weights, but I do know that boning them both out & packing the meat 2 miles back to the truck in one go, left me wobbly kneed & took 4½ hours! Damn fine pack training for later in the year though! The little 65gn Sierra Gameking that I recovered from the larger pig performed awesomely. 95% weight retention with total jacket separation. Both were neck shots, 1 at 135yds (measured) & the other at 90 paces (80 ish yds) & both hogs dropped on the spot.2 points

That seems to always be the case. East Tennessee guys do seem to have a LOT of good stuff to sell.2 points

From other members on here . There are always great members on here that live where you are and they always seem to have what I'm looking for and at good prices. Most great deals are in the East Tn area . Some are in Middle Tn area . and in West Tn there is hardly any activity on here that I know of except for a few good members . No offense to West Tn but I hardly hear from or see anyone in West Tn except a few in the Memphis area . But all in all it's mostly in East Tn that have the good stuff and prices .2 points

Yes, the occasional long run for a gun is fun. But at some point, I got tired of all the driving and now have decided it's just not worth it. For me, a trip to Knoxville or to Memphis is a real tiring thing. After the first hour, if that long these days, my legs and feet start aching, and I start questioning why I do this. The trip usually will cost me 50 for fuel, 10 for food and drink, if I'm lucky, and all day shot. And I've done several of these. Every time I say not again. So if I put all this together, I seem to think that's worth at least 100 of time and money. It's got to be a great deal and something I just can't do without before I do this again. You believe me...don't you?2 points

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes (he is 76). We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors - green, red, Orange , and blue. My dad kept staring at her. The teenager kept looking and would find my dad staring every time.. When the teenager had had enough, she sarcastically asked: "What's the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?" Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response; I knew he would have a good one! In classic style he responded without batting an eyelid .... "Got stoned once and had sex with a parrot. I was just wondering if You might be my kid."2 points

I am with Maroon, although I can say there is probably nothing that gets me more worked up than abuse to animals, but dogs specifically. It was a very good video, but as with most of the like videos, aspca, etc, I have to turn the channel because I just can't stand to watch it. I know what they are trying to get across, but I just get too worked up. I will say, that is one of my favorite things about this board and why I feel like TGO is so different from the few other boards I am on, and that is because we have a very outspoken group of dog/animal lovers.2 points

2015 is officially the year of the AK for me. This year alone I have purchased two Century (CAI) "Iraqi Contractor" Romanian WASR 10's, a 2013 production Century (CAI) Romanian WASR 10, Century (CAI) Romanian RPK AES10B, + a Yugoslavian N-PAP DF. I have another Century (CAI) "Iraqi Contractor" Romanian WASR10 + a Century (CAI) Romanian Draco AK pistol en route to my FFL as I write this. As you can see, I am a fan of the weapon system through + through. At the present moment, I am debating the purchase of a Arsenal SLR107FR but I am stuck on if I should pick the variant with plum furniture or all black. Decisions, decisions! Without further ado, I present to you my humble selection of AK's. I have a bunch of magazines, not gun but publications, that I am needing to send out. I would prefer to send them to someone overseas rather than toss them out. I know when I was over there most magazines were years old. So if anyone has the address for someone that is deployed, and will be for a little while longer, please PM me their address. Thanks1 point

So I've been really itching to complete an upper instead of buying one already built. I finally got a chance to do it once I got all the parts and tools. I'm very happy to have finally done it, but I learned one thing for sure "I HATE ROLL PINS!". Well, the one for the gas tube anyway! I think the next one will be easier after some reading and talking to friends (Thanks LukeE) about tips. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Spikes Punisher lower PSA upper receiver w/Punisher ejection port cover PSA lower build kit BCM Large charging handle (I love it, have several mediums and wanted to try this size. Not as "in the way" as I thought it might be) Anderson Arms 16" 5.56 M4 barrel UTG Pro slim 15" handguard (This thing is well made for a $100 handguard!) Troy Battlesights Birdcage flash hider from spare parts bin Magpul trigger guard, grip, and MOE stock LBE M16 bolt carrier group This picture didn't take very well, but was trying to show off the finished upper and handguard because I was so proud to finish it!1 point

I rally haven't found that many hot deals at Buds in Kodak, but Smokey Mtn Knife Works has had some the two times I have stopped. GT's in Rossville always has killer deals on used stuff and the occasional new firearm.1 point

I am thinking, the blade just like the TGO Runts in two tone with the TGO 3 bullet holes, The punisher logo (just like my special run was) and a black lip Mother of pearl Push button would do the trick and if you all would like a cool lanyard could be included1 point

Same ole tune, it's hot and my shirt rides up....questions get asked, I piss someone off. Lady says why on earth are you carrying a gun? I tell her: See that peace symbol on the back or your Subaru? [in and amongst the 75 other stickers!] Well, I like peace too! I love peace. Only problem is, no lasting peace is made among men, out of love. ONLY respect. Only when evil respects you strength of will and arm, will it consider peaceful resolutions. Only in the face of their own death, do the hearts of evil men consider peace. Turning the other cheek, passive resistance & arms wide open will accomplish precisely squat. That's HORRIBLE! I don't believe that and won't raise my family like that. Failure to accept the truth doesn't make it any less true. When evil hits you in the face and you "refuse to stoop to that level" in response....it will be much obliged for making it so easy. You can contemplate this as you bleed out on the ground while they take everything you've worked hard for. Now, I'm not sure why, but she didn't have anything to say after that. The look on her face when I told her to have a wonderful rest of the day, was priceless.   From a business standpoint, I should probably stop telling people stuff like this, but I won't. It's too much fun and damn if I ain't gettin' pretty good at it. I can make it through the hole thing without laughing at them now!1 point

A Glock 21 Generation 2 that looked like it just came from the factory . I like the older Gen 2 Glocks without the finger grooves and WITH the bottom cut-out portion on the grip so you can strip out a mag in a hurry . Glock doesnt make the frames with these features anymore. I told my wife that I was going fishing for a few hours that day :cool:1 point

Gotcha. Thanks. I just made my first "classifieds" purchase a few weeks ago from TNcitizen22 up in Knoxville, and I have to say that he he was a great guy selling a great gun at a great price. I had never really *seriously* looked at the classifieds until recently, and I have to agree that there are a lot of good sellers over this way. I definitely keep my eye open a lot more now...1 point

ALWAYS and I swear ALWAYS in east Tennessee . I have missed a nice few 1911's and some Glock 30's . I foolishly made a run from here in North Tn at the stateline all the way to Chattanooga for a nice deal on a 45. My truck gets 18 MPG and I should have had a few refueling tanker jets fly along above me  but it was fun and I got my toy and still have it today :up:1 point

Nothing gay about candles, IMO - scented or otherwise. Scented candles can still be used for backup emergency lighting if the power fails (I know this from application, not just from theory) - they just smell good, to boot. Besides, sometimes it is just easier to light a candle than to give the dog a bath. Heck, I am secure enough in my manhood to admit that I am thinking about trying to create my own, custom candle scents using the materials you can buy in the craft section at Walmart, etc. I already came up with a couple of custom scented oils (the type that is used in one of those oil warmers to act similarly to a scented candle) by blending some of the scented oils from Walmart. One of my favorite scents at this time, though, comes from some 'incense' I bought several years ago. I don't burn it all that frequently so I still have some left. It is, apparently, made from compressed pine dust or something because, rather than smelling like cat pee the way those 'fake' pine scented candles do (to me), it smells like honest-to-goodness wood burning, like a danged campfire. To make it even more 'neat', I have a sort of bisqueware log cabin incense burner that I burn it in. You put the incense inside the cabin and the smoke comes out of a 'chimney' at each end. I think the whole setup is pretty darned 'manly'.1 point

...because revolvers generally don't care if a less than optimal grip results in limpwristing. Revolvers don't care - and won't potentially fail to return to battery - if you have to jam them into an assailant's gut and pull the trigger (which, to me, is a more likely scenario than needing 15, 30, 45 rounds or more to resolve a 'serious social situation' as a civilian.) As long as the ammo is loaded to the correct length, revolvers don't care what the 'nose' profile of the bullet is, how large the HP cavity is or how sharp the boundaries of said cavity are as there is no feed ramp or similar for the ammo to hang up on. Any piece of machinery has to be maintained but revolvers don't care if you didn't get quite enough lube (or too much) on the slide rails because revolvers have no slide rails. No one is likely to accidentally forget to click the safety on a revolver off because there probably isn't a safety (I'm thinking of some single action .22 revolvers that do have safeties.) No one is likely to accidentally hit the mag release button and drop the mag in a revolver while nervous and under pressure despite spending lots of time in a calm, controlled environment training not to do so - because revolvers don't have mags to drop. Because I am neither police, military nor any, other personnel whose job may require them to move toward an assailant or group of assailants while accompanied by other, armed personnel who are similarly armed and who are on their side. The very fact that, in threads like this, there are always some folks who point out that revolvers can jam is, to me, a testament to revolver reliability. The instances of them jamming are sort of the exceptions that prove the rule in that case and are rare enough that people can mention them as specific occasions and/or specific guns. See, no one has to point out that semi-autos can (and likely will, at some point) jam, even if only due to an ammo issue or a magazine issue or a failure to clean issue or a failure to lube issue or a limpwristing issue or an issue of firing from an odd angle or...well, you get the point...because it happens so frequently with semiautos as to be almost a matter of course. Sure, clearing a semiauto jam might 'only' require a tap/rack but if your life is being immediately threatened then I doubt the assailant is just going to let you call a time out even for that two or three seconds the tap/rack will take - and certainly not long enough to allow you to change mags, etc. if the tap/rack doesn't do the trick. As for ammo capacity, well, if I am facing a threat so great and numerous that it is going to require 15, 30 or 45 rounds fired to stop the threat then most likely I am going to be dead before I run out of ammo. No matter how many rounds I have in my gun or on my belt I am only one person shooting one gun . If I am facing five or six armed assailants - meaning six people/six guns then all that ammo likely isn't going to make much difference. Now, do those factors stop me from carrying a high-cap semiatuo sometimes? Nope. Do I think semiautos are totally unreliable pieces of junk that are just waiting for the opportunity to get their owners killed? Nope. Do I think that the perceived 'advantages' of a semiauto over a revolver are often both overstated and over-rated when it comes to carry by a private citizen who is neither police nor military? Yep. Do I think that the advantages a revolver has over a semiatuo are likewise often ignored or under-rated? Yep. Do I think that both have relative advantages and disadvantages in comparison to the other? Sure. It's just that I believe that - again, when talking about carry by a private citizen for personal protection - the odds favoring one over the other work out to be just about even with personal preference, amount of practice with a particular platform, natural ability with a particular platform and similar, individual factors being more important than which platform is chosen.1 point

This is a GREAT book! One of the best-kept secrets in America is how often and how effectively ordinary citizens defend themselves with firearms against criminal attack or criminal threat. Criminology professor Gary Kleck of Florida State University estimates that each year about 2.5 million ordinary people in the United States use firearms in confrontations with criminals. In the most cases, a shot is not fired and the incident is not reported to police. Along with the bias of the mainstream media against portraying guns in a positive light, this results in these incidents occurring below the public's radar. The second edition of this comprehensive look at self-defense with firearms lifts the veil by recounting some of these incidents, from warding off a burglar in the home to coming to the aid of a police officer in jeopardy. Each incident is put into context with other self-defense actions and features descriptions of ordinary citizens to determine why they did what they did. The stories are rounded out by suggestions, often from the participants themselves, about what they might have done differently. The book has been updated with several newer and more timely stories. Today was a good day my friends! I have officially added a Arsenal SGL 21-61 to the collection. She was sourced locally via Armslist for $1.2K. In addition to the rifle, I recieved 400 rounds of ammunition, 8 magazines, + a magazine chest pouch. All I am lacking at this point are Bulgarian Circle 10 magazines + to put her through her paces at the range! She will compliment my Arsenal SLR-107FR when I pull her out of layaway at the end of the month. Lock + Load my friends!1 point

Bigger. Always Bigger. Draw up a floor plan layout. Measure out all the stuff you think you might put in there, and make sure it all fits with adequate space to walk around it without having climb over stuff or move 5 things to get at that one stuck in the back. I bet the first thing you'll notice is that a 36" wide door is fairly limiting. I'd look at a 48" door. Yes, 6x6 supports. 4x6's at least. Over-build the crap out of it, you'll be glad you did later. Skylights instead of windows. Saves wall space, cheaper and more secure than windows. Gable/soffit/ridge vents for some air flow. Think real hard about running power. It's a whole lot easier now than later.1 point

They all work; and work very well... I like semiautos and revolvers both... The trick is to learn how they work and to learn to shoot 'em and shoot 'em well... leroy1 point

I'm 42 and I've had a Smith & Wesson jam up hard, repeatedly, for no reason that I've been able to figure out. When a revolver gets jammed, it's not a simple tap-rack-bang. It will most likely involve disassembly. The reality is, if you've fired several hundred rounds through a pistol and it hasn't jammed, odds are that it won't when you need it. Given the same ammunition. I love my revolvers, but I'll usually take a pistol for defense. Back on topic, I don't carry a snub-nose. But my brother does. Why? It's small, simple and he doesn't have a small pistol.1 point

Islam is the religion, Muslims are followers of Islam. If every Muslim took every tenet of Islam literally, every immigrant of Middle East descent or convert would be committing acts of terror time now. Since there are no IED's here in Murfreesboro (which has a pretty decent population of Arab decent) I'm honestly more worried about a distracted driver texting than I worry about terrorism. They're terrorists (criminals really, I hate the overuse of the word terrorist) when they commit an act of terror. Till then, treat them like you would treat anyone else. Be friendly, polite, but have a plan to defend yourself if needs be.1 point
