He didn't think you were a donkey. He thought you were from Kentucky.9 points

Never claimed I was good looking, though I wouldn't expect to be confused for a donkey. Went to a friends today. His next door neighbor has donkeys. Mom and baby donkey were pretty close to the fence, so I walked over and they came and said hello. Dad is across the pasture and starts running over. At first I thought that he must love his carrots, then I noticed that he look mad. The little jerk thought I was after his girl, who was in heat. He mounted her and then looked at me so I would know who's boss.8 points

Could've been worse.... True story that happened to a friend... My friend and another guy were sitting on a fence chatting next to a pasture with some cows. One of the cows was only a foot or so away, facing the fence and quietly munching on grass. Apparently she was in heat, as the bull came from across the field and proceeded to mount her with them sitting right there. They both turned around and did the "well there's something you don't see every day..." sort of reaction. A moment later and right at the moment of truth, the bull got a little over-enthusiastic and slipped out. My friend's reactions were a touch faster than the other guy's. He ducked out the way and only got splattered on his ear and shoulder while the other guy took a full facial. He said the stench was beyond horrible and he proceeded to projectile vomit while laughing hysterically for the next few minutes. The other guy had a similar reaction but found it less amusing. They both burned their clothes and my friend said it was several days before he stopped smelling it. :rofl:5 points

This is a custom built off of a Bat MB dual port action, the stock is a Terry Leonard Rosewood with carbon bibber inlets for strength, Jewell BR Trigger and a NF competition 12-55 scope. I've already ordered two more barrels and had sent to be chambered all in a 6 Dasher.3 points

They've moved over to Donelson Rd. by the airport. It's a much bigger, nicer store. Same weird staff though :)3 points

That's funny as hell! I don't care how bad that guy took a hit, if you're stupid enough to stand there....... Natural Selection, Gods finest law.2 points

Most leather holstermakers use 7/8oz veg tanned leather. You really dont want chrome tanned (garment leather) against a firearm. It will corrode steel.2 points

It wasn't all that long ago that Staff Duty Officers & NCOs along with the Officers of the Day were always armed on Army Posts. I did my last armed duty as the Field Grade Officer of the Day in the early 90s at Bragg. It was also SOP for units to man an armed Guard Force to control and secure sensitive areas. Fast forward to post 9-11 and all the talk was about hiring rental cops to secure the post I was on. I was confused. When I suggested to the CG that we arm all senior NCOs and Commanders - - - the look of shock on the faces of the JAG and the Provost Marshal told me that my Army was no longer one that I recognized. The Army didn't trust us anymore......2 points

I posted about my experience with the three incher. I have several LCRs and the three inch is now my favorite. The barrel length suits front pocket carry as the revolver wont fall all the way down in the pocket. With the three incher, or the snubby with the no finger groove three inch grip. You can shoot +Ps all day. The longer no finger grip eliminates the snappy of the short barrel LCR. Magic! Hogue sells the grips alone but I'm going to wait until the price and shipping come down. Then I will change out the shorter grips on the three inches siblings.2 points

Glad to see this thread, this is my second hobby. Here are a few photos I've taken.2 points

Well I am happy to report that I have passed. You were all right! A big huff over nothing. 100 on my written test and 96 on my shooting. I had pretty excellent grouping at 3 and 7 yard, after that I got squirrelly. All in all an EXCELLENT class with a perfect instructor. I learned a lot and he even gave pointers at the range which helped a lot. Thanks again for all the help and feed back!2 points

Not that I could see any commanding general or garrison commander actually allowing concealed carry on post....but if they ever did, like all things Army, they would adopt the most painful administrative process to make it happen.2 points

Bought a M92 PAP last week and picked it up Friday after work with the sole purpose of filing a Form 1 to SBR. Brought it home and started to refinish the handguards and do some research on some other DIY AK work. I managed to get the pistol stripped down completely other than removing the thread protector and the barrel. Sprayed it down to remove all the grime and grease and re-oiled with a light coat. Refinished the hand guards by cleaning the surface with acetone and applying a light coat of stain and tung oil. After doing my reading I found that tung oil suffices as a stand alone finish, but I think the overall results of what I did are satisfactory. I plan to replace the trigger, muzzle device and add a Stormwerkz sidefolder/Manticore Arms triangle stock. I would like to put a Midwest Industries handguard at some point milled up top for an Aimpoint or Primary Arms micro dot and put a pouch on the stock to round things out. I put a couple of photos below of where I am so far after disassembly/cleaning/reassembly. I will have to disassemlble again to get the receiver engraved with my trust info here in the next few weeks. Thanks for looking and I would appreciate any thoughts/constructive criticisms that you can offer....1 point

I made it out to the range today and it took close to 50 rounds thru the G30 to knock the rust off, I've had so much crap going on I haven't been able to get much range time in the past couple months. I couldn't believe how much my accuracy dropped off in just this little amount of time. Good news I got to put 200 rounds down range with the new G19 and 100 with the G33 and they were such a pleasure to shoot, I would still be there if I hadn't run outa ammo.1 point

nailed one a while back with a shotgun. got within 10 ft of it dead and that stink drifted over so thick I couldn't breathe. Had to leave my clothes outside. peeeeeuwwww1 point

It is just an adjustable wrench with like a 1.5" opening. I drilled and tapped a hole on the top jaw and bottom jaw about a 3/8" from the tip. Then I installed the screws. I will try to get a picture in a day or two.1 point

Lead melts at 621.5°, zinc melts at 787.2°. I got four 5 gallon buckets of wheel weights that a friend had in his barn for 15 years. I started to sort them, but tired of that quickly, I decided to just throw them in the pot and do a slow melt while keeping an eye on the temp with my lead thermometer. I would never let the pot temp get over 700°. Out of the four buckets I only found one WW that was zinc. I'm not suggesting anyone do this, but it worked for me.1 point

Get a pair hand sized pruning shears like you trim bushes with. If you can cut it, it ain't zinc or steel. That only leaves rubber and plastic weights. If you can't tell rubber and plastic from lead.........1 point

Finally shot this thing yesterday with some Hornady ammo. I can see why people feel comfortable carrying this caliber in hog and "bar" country. Good accurate gun and all the shootin went off without a hitch. Well made gun + stout round = big cheesy grins. Seems like a purty good heavy hitter.1 point

I have logged a support request on their forum. Hopefully we get some answers soon. Yeah, I agree but it's convenient for a lot of people so I continue to use it here. I wish we could get away from it entirely.1 point

I use this... http://www.amazon.com/Mil-Comm-TW25B-Grease-Reclosable-Syringe/dp/B000UTOVX8/ref=pd_sim_200_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0BXKKW0SGXGACCND8E0W The syringe has a very small tip which allows you to apply a very small amount to a specific location and not waste any or have to spend time cleaning it off all the places it shouldn't be. It works great. One syringe should be nearly a lifetime supply.1 point

I was having the same issues with Tapatalk and it was the final straw with that buggy, crap software. The mobile skin works better.1 point

I did that again and I'm still having trouble. Just throwing out some more info on the matter. When I try to open a thread I generally get a blank page just showing "end". I can go back and try opening the thread again. I can try this multiple times before it will show the posts/content. Sometimes it can take 12 or more times before it will show the posts. Even after it finally shows, you can go back to that same thread again and most of the time you get the blank "end" page. Also, many times the tabs (Timeline, Unread, Participated, etc.) will show "No topics" and then later it will. The "Trending" tab seems to be the only one consistently showing the threads. Again, TGO is the only forum having this trouble and it started after the recent maintenance. I am using a Samsung S4 with Lollipop (5.0.1).1 point

I just did a build and used this. It doesn't list graphite in the ingredients list. One small tub will last me a lifetime and then some. http://www.autozone.com/greases-and-gear-oil/lubricant-grease/valvoline-moly-fortified-multipurpose-grease/54187_0_0/1 point

Yep, it's worth stopping in. Unlike their sister company Radio Shack - which just went out of business - I've never left Tandy Leather without learning something I didn't know when I walked in.1 point

A couple of tips. I try to use extremely lightweight leather. Then I wash it using hot water and Dawn soap. I will do the wash, rinse, repeat cycle 2-3 times. What this does is make the leather very Kydex like. It sounds and is as stiff as Kydex. I also use a vacuum sealer for food to mold my leather. Just make sure to vacuum seal the gun first so you don't end up with a bunch of moisture in the gun.1 point

There's a good vendor on Amazon called Dangerous Threads that sells a lot of leather scraps that are of good quality. While their physical shop is out on White Bridge Road, I often find it easier to just order it on Amazon Prime and have it in hand in two days. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_dp_s_web_2617941011?ie=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=Dangerous+Threads&node=26179410111 point

Talk to a scrap yard. Most of them buy small amounts of metal put it all together and sell it to yards to melt it back down for a profit. Most will sell to you if you are willing to buy above the price they are selling it else where. Thanks Robert1 point

Misconception there. The poly rails are guides for reassembly only. The Kahr slide depends on the long thin metal rails in front of frame and the two small inserts in the rear. Here's a pretty good explanation; http://glocktalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9043520&postcount=1 - OS1 point

I won't argue with him about concealed vs open. But if you decide to wear a "photographer's vest", you may as well wear a fanny pack or carry open. Pretty much the same thing.1 point

Not unheard of, if you have a large group of bikes. It is done so all the bikes can stay together and no cars get mixed with the group. It's not right, and shouldn't be done, I never liked it. For that matter I never liked riding in large groups.1 point

It works too lol. I had to go before a judge as a teen (for a rather serious driving error) and the suit & fine young gentleman act got me off with a stern "pay attention" instead of taking all my money. I dunno what it is about ppl and suits. I hate suits. I am not impressed by anyone because of their suit. Some of the smartest and most competent people I know look like hobos most of the time.1 point

In case it is not obvious, If you are going to hook it up to the breaker box, you have to make damn sure you do not back-feed into the power grid and kill a unsuspecting lineman. Better yet, get a licensed electrician to install a transfer switch to COMPLETELY disconnect your house from the grid when using the genset. Just throwing a few breakers does NOT do the job.1 point
