This was an unexpected one but I had to have it. I went up to Smoky Mountain Knife Works on Sunday just to cruise around and see what was new. While there I stopped by the guns to see what they had in their surplus and trade in section, and that's when I found this. It's an Israeli trade in CZ 75, transitional pre-B. Rough on the outside but everything else internally seems to be in great shape. I took it out Monday evening to test fire it and I think it just replaced most of my handguns, it's an awesome shooter. Should have bought one sooner. http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg609/gjohnsoniv/Mobile%20Uploads/Snapchat-3376398861398918261_zpszp0rplkj.jpg 4 points

Wait.....what? Just because other kids have toothless, drug using, gang banging, non reading dirtbags for parents doesn't mean your kid shouldn't get a leg up on the others. Damn libtards, loser thinking at it's worst right there.4 points

I had a good laugh the other day on Vietnam Veterans Blvd. I was heading to Sams for some stuff and I was following a late model Range Rover. I was doing 55 mph and so was it and ever so often he would just hit his brakes and slow all at once causing me to hit mine and that caused the black Suburban with tinted windows to slam on their brakes. After the guy done this about 4 times the Black vehicle pulled out and passed me and the window came down and a Highway Patrolman motioned for me to slow and allow him in from of me so I did. The clown in the Rover did it to him twice and the second time I saw all the flashing lights come on in the windows and places you would not expect them. I slowed as the range Rover pulled to the side of the road with the Black truck behind it. I slowly moved over to left lane and went on. When I cam out of Sam's I saw the Range Rover on a roll back wrecker heading for Hendersonville towing. I guess the Trooper was not happy with the persons reason for their actions. I just thought it was funny.4 points

If...., and that is a BIG IF so long as BHO is still around...., this happens they'll have to build a camp ground at the South Store for all of the folks waiting for the door to open on 1911 sale day! :hyper:4 points

Son called yesterday and said he had obviously forgotten his safe combination. He gave me the serial# and manufacturer. I called the Safe House, since I am a satisfied customer of theirs. The very next day I was advised they received the combination and I could come and retrieve it. Don't get no better than that. Thanks, Guys.3 points

Just wanted to say a few good words about The Gun Shop and Trading Post in Livingston Tn. Went by there for the first time and what a great place. Met some really wonderful people working there and the owner was very nice and helpful too. The place has some really good prices, and they stock a lot of things I haven't seen in other stores. If your ever in the area I highly recommend it.2 points

Seems to me this whole thing could have avoided with a simple "NA has chose to change match management and we are happy to be helping them. There are no hard feelings on either side". As for the whole your not a MCTS member and therefore don't count aspect, the people who regularly shoot the matches wherever the venue is certainly have a right to know what is going on with the venue especially a change in Match Direction. There no better way to stunt the growth of a venue/club/range than to make the people who travel to come out and shoot your matches every month, who aren't members of the host club feel like they aren't respected and not appreciated and that you just want their $10 or $15 a month. I shoot IDPA at 2 clubs of which I am a member of neither. I don't feel entitled to know the inter-workings and decisions of the host club but I damn well do feel entitled to a polite and straight answer on issues that concern the IDPA Action Pistol of the club because I support them with my time, work and money. IDPA is a volunteer driven sport and a good attitude goes a long way.2 points

Guys, I am totally neutral on this issue as I have never shot with any of your clubs, groups, or public matches of any kind. I have no affiliation with any of you nor with Nashville Armory. So far in my life I have done all of my shooting on private land, private clubs, and setup my own matches and games for friends. As a veteran instructor with 7 certifications, I have taught hundreds of new shooters including folks from age 8 to 82, different ethnic backgrounds, races, countries, and varying skill levels from physically handicapped to advanced military and LEO shooters. When I saw the first post in this thread I subscribed to it, intending only to watch it and perhaps learn a bit more about the types of competitive shooting which are going on locally, and in particular at the Nashville Armory, primarily because I have been mentoring a few teens for several years and they are just now graduating from my program and shipping out to special forces careers in the Air Force and Navy. So while I have done a lot to teach them to shoot, gunsmith, compete, and even become some of the youngest certified instructors in the nation, I was considering bringing them down to Nashville Armory or a similar local club to get the experience of shooting and competing with a wider audience of the general public, much like they will soon be doing in the service. After seeing some of the responses in this thread, I want to let you know that this bickering does not reflect positively on any of the participants, their clubs, or the facility as a whole, so I will avoid bringing those kids down (or referring my other students) if this is the kind of atmosphere they can expect at such events. I am sure everyone in this thread (and every TGO member) is a nice, decent person with good intent, yet none of us are perfect either. For anyone with grievances, complaints, or issues: my suggestion would be for you to meet with each other and/or Nashville Armory in person to discuss and resolve, ideally in private, and to be professional and supportive, also flexible and open to bend a little. That would go a long way to preserving and growing our shooting sports, rather than turning folks off and encouraging them to continue shooting elsewhere. Just my $0.02 which I know was unnecessary and likely unwanted, but as a person that had been looking to invest and steer others to your cause, I felt compelled to let you know how it looks from the sidelines. Best of luck to all of you in finding a resolution and continuing to enjoy what you are passionate about.2 points

Sweet, I knew there would finally be a topic on here that is none of my business but that I would have to chime in on. First off, to my knowledge, I have never met Mr. Martin but I have met Mr. Bresson. Here's my take of him. He is a very passionate and competitive guy with a lot of drive and ambition. If he wants to control every match in TN and sets his sights on it he probably will. I will start shooting the NA matches as much as I can. MCTS always put on very good matches. As far as what business it is of the general public to know what deals were made, well its zero. I sold a business to a competitor about 5 years ago and the details are known by just the ones at that table. Employees from both sides don't even have privilage to that info let alone the customers I had. I know selling a business is somewhat different than taking over a match so let me use another example. Say you have been eating at the same restaurant for the past 3 or 4 years and you walk in tomorrow and there is a sign that says UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. Do you feel you should be able to walk in and demand to know the details? I think it's just juvenile to air this out on the internet. If you don't like it don't go.2 points

Oyeah already done, they are all securely locked in my gun safe, and the key never leaves my pocket. He wasn't actually arrested, the only one he threatened to hurt was himself, and he never discharged the gun, so he was just taken into protective custody and taken to the hospital. He is doing a lot better now, that week to just think and vent to a shrink did him a world of good, and from what he said the other patients freaked him out enough to never want to go back lol.2 points

Glad to hear that you got the gun without a lot of administrative red tape. Since your son is involved in a highly emotional situation filled with conflict, and many more tough times ahead before it's resolved, I would highly recommend that you take possession of all his firearms and other weapons, and lock them up at your place or another secure facility where he (and the wife) can't get to them. The last thing any of you need is another bad decision made impulsively that could result in significant fines, imprisonment, or death. While I'm sure nobody expects themselves or their relatives to react in such a manner, the fact that he's already been arrested means that he is not always able to avoid those types of circumstances. I know what he's going through, and will pray for a safe and healthy outcome for all parties.2 points

Just saw an old replay of the 1985 Hagler vs Hearns fight. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Real boxing at its best. I don't think these guys today would stand a chance aginst any of the fighters back in the day. I remember seeing these growing up when it was such a big deal. The punches they took were just devastating.2 points

I always felt that way about Journey. Back when they were popular, the stations played the heck out of them. It always seemed to me the singer was crying through each song, and I couldn't stand it. Now, I rarely listen to radio. I bought a stereo for my truck with a USB port on it. I loaded up a USB flash drive with about 300 albums, and I set the stereo to play random songs. It's like my own little radio station of just songs that I like, and never any stupid commercials.2 points

There are some in the world of 2nd Amendment advocacy who appreciate the need for engaging the poliicians which to most people includes or may be limited to the governor and the legislature. Still others realize its also a battle with local politicians such as mayors and council members. From my experience far to few appreciate the significant of the respective parties' State Executive Committees and the influence (and damage) that those SEC groups can have on who is even allowed to run as a member of the party. Protecting our rights is not a spectator sport. It requires engagement, effort and funding.2 points

Another chain yanking joke from Keltec. Might be an awesome rifle but their ability to fulfill demand is pathetic. I was rally wound up for an RFB hen they came out. Good, luck getting one. Only now do I see the KSG with decent availability. I'll never understand why and how companies operate. Keltec has some of the coolest most innovative designs on earth. Why don't they prove these designs before hand AND build a decent inventory for the release date? I understand Keltec manufactures a lot of other things and guns are NOT their bread and butter but they could plan things much better. This new bull pup looks great and I wouldn't mind having one but I won't hold my breath on the shelves being stocked. What few make,it out will be snatched fast. For the longest time the sub2000 was unobtanium. This one will be too I think. Good luck to you though. Please do post a review with lots of pics if you manage to scoop one up.2 points

Road rage incidents usually require threatening and/or stupid acts on the part of both parties involved. I get "cut off", "boxed in", nearly run over by assholes running RED lights and suffer other idiotic acts by stupid, inconsiderate or totally clueless drivers...the best thing I can do for my own mental health (and blood pressure) is to get on with life.2 points

Finally got my very first 1911 - a Springfield Armory Loaded Parkerized. Sorry for the terrible pictures. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I did field strip it and do an initial cleaning. A couple of observations along those lines: 1. Everything I had read about the FLGR is absolutely true. Even using the included allen wrench, I didn't think I'd ever get the thing loose. And getting it back together after cleaning? Yeah, it was even more... interesting. May eventually go with the GI guide rod. 2. Even more difficult than the FLGR, however, was getting the slide stop back in - particularly the end closest to to the grip. There is a small piece of metal that protrudes slightly from the plunger tube (I think that's what it's called) that has to be depressed in order for the slide stop to go back in. Doing that without scratching your gun all to heck? Interesting... But in spite of the first-time challenges, there was something strangely fun about the whole thing. There's just something about working with a 1911 that is, well, pleasing... Provided I enjoy shooting it, looks like I may have found my handgun niche -- a very expensive niche... :D Thanks again for all the advice I receive here about what to get for my first one. So many good options... I'm confident this one won't be my last.1 point

This is one of my all-time favorite pistols. It is a Hungarian copy of the Browning Hi Power manufactured by FEG, the arms conglomerate of the Hungarian government. It is a KBI import called their Model PJK 9HP. It is a completely reverse engineered, totally faithful copy of the FN design, and was manufactured back around 1994. I bought it unfired in '09 off of GunBroker and I have to say it took my breath away when I opened the box - The high polished blue job honestly rivals the Colt Python and the Weatherby Mark V rifle. I can only conclude that this gun was probably reserved for a VIP, given the meticulous attention to detail shown by the workmen. Not only are the frame and slide polished to a high sheen, so are the inside of the trigger guard, the slide stop, and the safety lever. But the rear of the slide and frame facing the shooter are polished to a much lower sheen, as they should be. The guy who polished this gun was very good at his trade. The frosting on the cake is that it is tight as a drum in fit, has an excellent trigger, and shoots every bit as well as it looks, routinely producing 15 yard bench rest groups of 1 1/2 - 2 inches. So I really doubt that this was just an ordinary production pistol. I've owned five of these guns and none of them come within a country mile of this one. And all for $315+fees. Anyway I finally went for the brass ring by installing Novak three dot sights and Hogue Kingwood checkered grips. I wanted to bring the gun up to the full potential of its looks and shootery, and I think I probably succeeded. Here she is. .....and to answer your last question - do I baby it? Oh yeah I do - bigtime!! EssOne1 point

I ran into Monkeyman2500 and MrsMonkeyMan2500 out and about the other day at that shop. Chatted about numerous things between life, types of guns we like, how the government licks taint, etc-etc. It was just cool putting a name to face as I've only done that a few times on here so it was just neat. I happened to overhear them talking to a buddy and listened to their story(yes, I'm TERRIBLE for eavesdropping) and realized it was the same story I had read MM2500 describe on here. Taking the leap of faith I asked, "Monkeyman?" He looked at me puzzled and said, "Yeeeeess?" I laughed and said, "Whitewolf man!" He and his wife both laughed and then we chatted it up. I just thought that was kinda awesome running into him like that, haha.1 point

Well...I typed out half a page on my range trip with the 320 but it gots lost. Sucked into a black hole somewhere in the interwebs. I liked it. Great trigger, as good if not better than my VP9 and my buddy's PPQ. The break is nice, crisp and no over travel. Good reset too. The VP9 definitely feels better in my hand. The Sig naturally aims half a dot low for me. Took a mag for me to get that through my head. First groups at 10 yds were pretty good. By the 3rd mag they were tightening up nicely. Its gonna be a keeper I do believe but I do need to shoot it a little more.1 point

I actually own one and have for probably 6mo or so. I bought it as a beater truck gun and it has surpassed my expectations. I put a PA 4-14x FFP scope on it and can get hits out to 600yds on a 12" plate using my handloads. Shooting groups at 100yds, I regularly get sub 1" groups using handloads with 60gr vmax bullets. It also shoots 55gr FMJs really well but groups open up a little over an inch. My 75gr handloads were all over the place though. I really like the rifle. The trigger breaks clean and consistent at 3.5 lbs from the factory. The bolt is smooth and the gun is super lightweight. Threading is concentric and it makes a great little suppressor host. Finish is nice and fairly robust from what I can tell. I definitely don't baby it and I've yet to scratch the finish. For the price, it's tough to beat IMO. I intend to add the 300blk version pretty soon.1 point

I completely understand that their music may not appeal to someone's personal taste. That is very understandable and I get the same vibe when I hear Tool or Justin Bieber or One Direction or ICP. I just don't have the same knee-jerk sense of hatred that some have for Nickelback. I'm like you, I just change the channel or turn off the radio. I feel sorry for anyone who lost money on the fight. Pacman had a shoulder injury and his team didn't check the injury box on the form sheet after weigh in so he was denied a cortisone shot before the fight. Could have changed the outcome.1 point

Things like crappy reporting in only the tip of the iceberg why news people generally are the most mistrusted people in the country save the politicians. It seems news reporters gave up reporting the facts years ago and would rather put their own liberal twist on most everything. I don't put much stock in any of the news people at any of our local stations. I've caught them all twisting the facts from time to time to fit their own agendas.1 point

There is no reasonable explanation for current .22 prices other than pure, unadulterated greed based on ignorance. This all started right after Sandy Hook in December of 2012. Why, I have no idea because there is no reasonable explanation. The factories are still pumping it out at the same price they were two years ago....assuming a slight increase there as they jack prices every year. BTW, there are probably 908 threads on this forum addressing the same question. ;)1 point
-
That's the problem, people are willing to pay .10 or more a round. As long as they do, other people will buy up as much .22LR as they can and sell it to them and double their money. What doesn't get resold gets hoarded. Nothing new here, it's been going on for over 2 years all over the country. Plus you had people caught flat footed when this all started and they went from 1 brick of .22's in their safe too 20 or more bricks, so they won't be caught short again. Just my :2cents:1 point

I can tell you one thing I have learned recently while driving on highways and even city streets. Everyone always seems to be in a hurry to get where ever they are going and drive like idiots that are late getting there. More and more rude people driving now than ever I think. I do my best to stay out of most of their way. I have noticed that while trying to pull out of side streets onto main highways and you look and a car or truck is pretty far off and seems safe to pull out. I have learned to look at least 2 or 3 times to check the speed of approaching vehicles. The speed limit maybe 35 but they will be doing 50 plus so you need to make sure they are not speeding before you pull out. I'm not sure what has happened to road manners but they sure don't happen much any more................jmho1 point

It's frustrating as a motorcyclist when you get cut off, it happens. The insinuation that your phone call is more important than my life does get most motorcyclists blood flowing. The smartest thing you can do is let it go. This is a classic Zimmerman/Martin situation. Both parties did things that they shouldn't have done which escalated the situation to the point that it did. I would follow someone who had intentionally backed over a friend, I would not do it unarmed.1 point
