2015 is officially the year of the AK for me. This year alone I have purchased two Century (CAI) "Iraqi Contractor" Romanian WASR 10's, a 2013 production Century (CAI) Romanian WASR 10, Century (CAI) Romanian RPK AES10B, + a Yugoslavian N-PAP DF. I have another Century (CAI) "Iraqi Contractor" Romanian WASR10 + a Century (CAI) Romanian Draco AK pistol en route to my FFL as I write this. As you can see, I am a fan of the weapon system through + through. At the present moment, I am debating the purchase of a Arsenal SLR107FR but I am stuck on if I should pick the variant with plum furniture or all black. Decisions, decisions! Without further ado, I present to you my humble selection of AK's. Him running or not has everything to do with it. You don't see many story's of guys who followed the officers directions getting hurt. Take you fight to the court room instead of the street and these type events don't happen.4 points

If this behavior keeps up maybe eventually these thugs will stop activity such as fighting with the police, running from the police, pointing real and fake guns at the police, etc. I feel sorry for cops since now days the criminal seems to get the benefit of the doubt.4 points

My daughter forgot her PINK handcuffs at my house today when she came to pick my grand daughter after work. Well being the complete moron I am I noticed about 2 seconds AFTER I locked myself to the pole on my porch that she hadn't left the key, and I am the only one at home with my phone sitting on the kitchen table mocking me lol. Two hours later my wife finally comes home and after she quit laughing at me she called Shay and had her bring the key. So that was my day today.3 points

The guy was handcuffed and in leg irons for his transportation. What level of threat does he represent that can't be handled by trained officers at that point? Walk me from him being restrained in cuffs and leg irons to an 80% severed spine and explain why him running factors into it.3 points

Whether or not running from the police is a good idea or not shouldn't even enter into the equation, at all. You keep bringing it up, and it has the "thug got what was coming" vibe to it. It doesn't matter if he surrendered peacefully or resisted arrest with armed force, basic humane treatment of those in police custody has to be the same across the board, or it causes problems. Neglect basic care for prisoners in your charge is a recipe for disaster within the community. The criminal (read: accused) getting the benefit of the doubt is a legal protection....innocent until proven guilty and all that.3 points

I guess the riots are going to begin in Baltimore since they say another Black man was killed while in police custody. This time he was not shot but go a broken back and died a few days later in Hospital. I saw this story the morning it broke and the guy went down hard after trying to jump some type of fence while running from the police. The police were on bicycles and he was running. If he was not guilty of anything why was he running? They have yet to explain that but all 3,000 police are on duty on Saturday in full riot gear. If I am not guilty of anything, the last thing I will do is run from the police...............JMHO2 points

all I ever have used Wheaties for is to make balls for fishing bait. As for Bruce, I don't care what he does. I do know life is too short and if this makes him happy then good for him. People are allowed to be happy. You can't change that he is arguably the greatest Olympian ever.2 points

I was taught as a child and all my life I have been told when any police officer tells you to stop or quit you stop or quit. I have been taught that my entire life and to this very day if A Policeman or Policewoman tells me to stop, STOP is exactly what I do. It is something that was taught to me as a child. Respect Law Enforcement Officers. Now that does not mean that all LEO's are good by any means. The ones that handled this situation did everything wrong and should be punished for their neglect and failure to provide this man due process of medical attention before moving him. I just have faith in the fact 1 bad apple does not make an entire police force rotten. There are more good LEO's than bad.............................jmho2 points

Hmmm. Well I could tell some stories about folks playing around with handcuffs resulting in a 911 phone call for an officer to help get them out of the handcuffs. Of course sometimes they weren't USA pattern cuffs using a standard handcuff key. BTW a sliver of metal used as a shim works fine...if you can reach it or hint...have a standard ink pen in your pocket...2 points

I have a hard time understanding how people can believe that simply stepping into a park or being around children suddenly makes someone a homicidal maniac. Do they not realize that on any given day they're probably walking their kids past any number of people that are probably carrying? I mean, I can understand the initial "What, they let people carry guns?" thought of someone first being exposed to lawful carry but I just can't grok how people can keep saying there will be blood in the streets and people shooting each other over parking spaces (or the best fishing spots) when every study says otherwise and no state has turned into a war zone when it became shall-issue. I just wish they'd just come out and admit that guns scare them and they don't like the thought of people having them. That's completely legitimate. It's not a good reason for the rest of us to be denied our rights, but at least the antis can be honest about their motives.2 points

From the mid-70s through the mid-80s he was manhood personified. Yet during all that time he was dealing with gender dysphoria. I am imagine this is throwing a lot of people for a loop. My hope is that it will open some hearts and minds to the fact that there are many things about gender and sexual identity that they don't really understand and it will hopefully lead them to be more understanding and accepting of others. I wish Bruce all of the happiness that he can find for himself in his remaining years. 65 years is a long time to hate what you see in the mirror.1 point

You are correct, the Shield does feel like a tweener. I won't be getting rid of my Shield because my wife really likes it. I'm a Glock guy, so I like the idea of the Glock single stack 9mm. I'm not as concerned about capacity as I am about having a very small, thin pistol that I like and can easily conceal. It's all situational. During the time that I've had the Shield, is seen range time, an occasional visit to the doctors office, yard work and regular walks to the mail box. When I got the 42, it took over the duties of the Shield. Now that I have the thinner 43 in 9mm, it will be taking over those limited duties. My daily carry will remain a 19 or 30.1 point

Everyone thinks moving a safe is a big deal it really isn't. I've moved my 700 pound safe 4 times. An appliance dolly and a friend are all you need. It helps to load it onto a trailer as opposed to putting it in the back of a truck as you don't have to lift it as high. Get a piece of cardboard under it and scoot it across the floor. If you are crossing a wood floor spray some furniture polish along your path and buff it with a rag, the safe will move over the floor effortlessly.1 point

This is in all parks. Local parks can no longer prohibit the carry of firearms by licensed persons. Signs will remain posted until such time as they would normally be removed, but they have no force of law behind them anymore.1 point

I would like to offer a word of caution to folks like me who may be critical of policing practices. I've been around here long enough to see this board through various swings regarding law enforcement. I know TGO David has made his support of LE and his aims to have this board to be an inviting place for LE on multiple occasions very clear. Whenever the general mood of the board swings too far into an anti-LE direction, conversations get locked down, folks get banned and the topic becomes anathema. I implore folks to ensure that the criticisms they have to offer regarding LE are respectful, and relevant to Tennessee and/or the particular discussion at hand. I believe that the subject is an important one and discussion of it can be had here if done correctly. We have recently seen an explosion of news stories nationally regarding the wrongdoing of officers. Ultimately I think this is a good thing as it can help serve to reign in excesses in the LE culture that I think have been allowed to flourish in recent years. That doesn't mean we need to post every random story on the subject we come across. Please folks, let's not go too overboard here in this venue and cause another time frame where we aren't allowed to broach the issue. I don't think anyone is well served by that. I am admittedly one of the most critical members of this community of police and policing practices, but I still think we can have this conversation in a reasonable manner based in logic and reason without needless bashing of either side. ***Not trying to overstep my bounds, or play mod here with this general word of caution. I just don't want to needlessly wear the patience of the administration on this subject or see anyone banned in a heated moment for ill-advised statements.***1 point

I spend a lot of time on some of the greenways in Knoxville, which of course also go through parks. Even though it's been de facto legal here since the change to preemption statute last year and fact that the city took no action to conform with opting out under the existing 39-17-1311, it's really nice to have that part totally cut and dried, and of course very pleased for all the other folks state wide. Now, let the gray areas of coliseums, arenas, zoos, discovery centers, etc etc start getting hashed out as applied to the revised statute as compared to 1359. - OS1 point

He is not against silencers, he is against officers having anything that a regular citizen can't. Silencers should be mandatory for all officer's rifles to protect hearing and prevent disability claims. They even make mini silencers for pistols that do not make them much harder to draw. The officers I have known that were issued full autos said they never received specific training on use of full auto. They said they would qualify in semi auto and that was it. I even knew officers that never fired their full auto weapons. Now imagine what is going to happen the first time they fire in full auto. I say that if an officer is being issued a, or buys his own, full auto he should be required to attend a class on use of full autos before he is allowed to carry it. Way too much liability when you flip that switch over to full auto, especially in an urban setting. Departments are getting all sorts of military equipment to help them and I am all for it except there are certain weapons that should not be in police hands. Departments are getting M2 50 caliber belt fed machine guns from the government. Now what could that possibly be used for by a department? Not like they can use it to clear buildings or to use it at DUI check or anywhere else. I think a lot of departments are getting equipment while the getting is good without understanding what that equipment could be used for. I wonder how many officers know how to actually set the headspace and timing on an M2 or even load it. The biggest problem I have is not the different weapons so much as the different sets of rules for different groups. Our representatives pass laws all the time that do not apply to them. And anyone associated with the government, either federal or local, have a different set of rules than the citizens they are supposed to be a representation of. If an officer is allowed to have a full auto to deal with a threat why can't I have the same full auto to deal with the same threat? A bad guy is a bad guy regardless of who their intended victim is and if an officer needs a full auto to deal with the bad guy I should have access to the same full auto.1 point

When people have one bad teacher, some of them think all teachers are bad. When they have a contractor or mechanic mess them around, some of them think all contactors or mechanics are bad. This happens with many professions, but recently police officers have bee in the forefront. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why some one in this day and age would want to become a police office. The lack of respect they receive in the media and from the pubic is deplorable. Many of the situations that we have seen played out in the media started with people not obeying simple commands from officers. That being said, we should not turn a blind eye to incompetence, negligence or illegal behavior from any profession.1 point

Then let us be worth squat together because the M38 was the best jeep the Army ever had. Our standard anti tank weapon in Europe was the M38A1 with a 106mm recoilless rifle on it, and it takes a tough little machine to pull that off. The troops loved them.1 point

Pete... I like Dave's post and reasoning... I'm a shotgun junkie and have a pile of pump "riot guns", includin a Browning BPS in the bedroom... There is a reason why shotguns were used in the old days and right up until today by those in the killin business... They work and work very well... If ya look at the shooting data, a shotgun trumps most everything in one shot stops if ya do your part... I like the "stayin put" idea... Let 'em come to you... That's exactly my home plan... I like buckshot of any flavor, from 000 to #4 buck... leroy1 point

The pistol grip shotguns, at least in 12 gauge, are hard to control after the 1st shot. I get followup shots off much quicker with a full stock. #4 Buck is good, and I've read that #1 is better for penetration, but it's harder to find. I'm only gonna clear the room I'm in. The cops can do the rest.1 point

A shotgun is good home defense weapon. Sounds like your Mossberg has a 20” barrel. That’s fine as long as you can maneuver it. Barrel length usually becomes an argument when people start talking about “clearing” your apartment or house. If you know someone is there you don’t go hunting; you let them come to you, through the fatal funnel. If you aren’t sure you run the risk of being taken out no matter what kind of weapon you have. I would use 00 over #4. But everyone will have an opinion; they will both penetrate multiple sheets of drywall. Short of non-lethal or bird shot there isn’t anything you can put in a 12GA that won’t put your neighbors at risk if you shoot the wall. The same thing will happen if you miss with a handgun. A dog will let you know if someone is in your house or apartment.1 point

That's what really aggravates me is that the new movies have essentially turned all those writers, and the video games that are post ROTJ, into fan fiction. All that hard work, down the drain all because they wanted to use their own "new and original" source material. That being said, I'm gonna likely watch the new one probably 3 times. I actually had a kid tell me he thinks the best movie franchise of all time is The Fast and the Furious series. It took all I had not to beat him to death with a lead filled light saber...1 point

I suspect we are all guilty of that very thing. Its only human nature to get what we can see, sometime regardless of price. Then on the other hand you likely save on fuel, time and wear& tear on a vehicle by grabbing whats there. Bass Pro in my opinion is pushing it a little on the powder pricing. Most the powders in the Memphis Store are in the mid 30's per pound. Its like there trying to recoup Hazmat on 1-2 bottles.1 point
