I kept talking to the lady at the Palmetto State booth. That said, a buddy of mine is a bartender downtown, apparently the palmetto state guys went out saturday night and when a guy at the bar bought some food for a vet, they gave the guy an AR.... Classy all around8 points

I was there the first day and stayed till 5pm. My feet were sore but I had fun. I got a cool Rock Island Tshirt and some bulet samples from X-Treme Bullets. I got a picture with Lee Ermey and one of those cool coins he was giving out. It's the size of a silver dollar. Here's mine. A single hat in a sea of freebie hats would've been hard to notice. Might I suggest next time to include some Rex Kwan Do pants? On a more serious note, the T-shirt wouldn't be a hard sell for TGO frequenters. You would likely be out of stock within a day. I believe the fact that you don't have your logo strapped on everything increases the odds of people quickly buying whatever is produced.5 points

Reminds me of an old tale. THP officer was ticketing a gentleman for running a stop sign. No big deal, this young punk ride by on a harley, flipped the officer off and proceeded to ride off. Officer goes after him and the young punk says "you can't ticket me for flipping you off, it's my first amendment right" The officer, being a really smart man, says "you are right sir, I'm ticketing you for improper use of hand signals, you motioned a left turn and then stayed straight" The ticket stuck.4 points

It's just immature. Besides if an officer can't summon the patience to deal with someone flipping them off and "wouldn't take it very long," I don't want that person wearing a badge, and the powers that come with it.3 points

Found this online... So it sounds like Tennessee just "does it for" 18-year olds now. But this thread seriously makes me sad that a person can reach adulthood and not know what Selective Service is. What the hell do they teach in schools these days? Is Civics no longer part of the curriculum?3 points

Want to make some scratch? Cheese? Coin? Loot? Dollar bills? Ever fancy yourself a bounty hunter? :) Websites like TGO need advertisers to stay afloat, let alone grow bigger and better and make it possible to do cooler things. To date we've been fortunate -- blessed even -- to have our advertisers find us. We've never had to go hunting for them, and honestly I've never really wanted to. I just don't like selling. I'm not a "sales guy" and I hate cold-calling. But recently I had a member approach me with a prospective advertiser and asked if I'd hook them up. So I did. And I also felt like I owed that member something in return... so I did something for that person too. Which brought to mind an idea: Pretty much everyone here has their list of favorite shops to do business with. But how many of those favorite shops support your favorite local forum by advertising with us? All of them? Some of them? None of them? Could you maybe help us by convincing them to sign on with us? Because if you can, and they tell me that YOU are the reason they signed on as an advertiser, I'll gladly kick a commission payment your way. :) So, what's the motivation? I'll make no bones about this: I'd like to eventually quit working for the man Monday - Friday and make TGO something of a full time job. I'd love nothing more than to work on new features, new content, videos, blogs, reviews, etc. all for the TGO community. But in order for that to happen, we need more advertisers and I'd be glad to share some of our increased success with anyone who helps get us there. If you are instrumental in helping bring a new advertiser on board, I owe you a debt of gratitude and I'd like to put some money back in your pocket to say thanks. Let's talk! For details, contact me privately.2 points

I don't think anyone is saying that the car driver isn't at fault. He clearly turned into oncoming traffic. But I'm sure he didn't think the bike was going 100 either. Both people in this one are at fault.2 points

How 'bout a tgo range day for members only. An all afternoon kinda thing where we meet, shoot, eat.... maybe a pitch in lunch kinda thing.2 points

Agreed - I was hoping more people would "find me" there but the hat really isn't enough of a give-away. The NRA show and the desire among the members to be more recognizable to each other has renewed my interest in getting more hats and polo shirts made for the TGO membership who want them. T-shirts might be a possibility as well now that services like SpreadShirt and others are producing better quality gear. Their stuff used to be really substandard.2 points

I guess it's OK to kill a motorcyclist because he was speeding. Drivers of cars bear no responsibility to look out for us because as we know, cage drivers never speed or change lanes without looking, or spend their time in their car with their cell phones plastered to their heads. Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out, right?2 points

I know an older fellow who has two of the P238 pistols. He had the same problem with both - feeding and ejection. After being unable to get these pistols to behave he returned them to Sig for inspection or correction as needed. Both came back with a list of the parts the factory exchanged. Despite all this he continued to have the same problems with both of them. I suggested his grip strength could be the problem. He handed off both pistols and a full box of ammo for each to me, then waited while I enjoyed some time with them. After 50 rounds through each, and zero malfunctions, he realized he would have to "man up" in order to get them to work for him. These are very fine firearms, well designed and built. In spite of this they do require the user to hang on tightly to make them function.2 points

I don't want to knock your advice, but setting up high cfm air movement in a crawlspace with any kind of microbial growth can make things worse. Mold and fungus tend to "spore off" as a defense mechanism, so adding air movement could just spread whatever it is down there.2 points

No professional company I know of or have worked for uses bleach to treat any kind of microbial growth. Some of the harsher chemicals they use are peroxide-based. If it were me cleaning this up for myself, I would HEPA vac the visible growth off the affected areas to prevent any sporing off, then wipe the areas +2ft with Benefect or another reputable antimicrobial (my preference has always been Benefect just because of how safe of a product it is). Then I would soak the areas with benefect and let it dry as is. If you have a lot of the crawlspace showing that kind of growth, there is a lot more that "should" be done. If you want the better advice, contact someone certified in microbial remediation, like an AMRT certification through IICRC. Here is a link to Benefect, this is not concentrate and is intended to be used at full strength: http://www.amazon.com/Benefect-Botanical-Disinfectant-1-gallon/dp/B000Y215W6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428889806&sr=8-1&keywords=benefect2 points

Both Remington and another company called New England Westinghouse were both contracted to produce about 3.3 million Mosin M91's for the imperial Russian government during WWI. During the production run, the Russian Revolution occurred, and the Karensky government subsequently defaulted on the contracts. Approximately 1.5 million or so had already been shipped to Russia, several hundred thousand more were waiting shipment, and additional rifles were in the production lines or stockpiled at the factories. Both Remington and NEW were facing bankruptcy because of the default, the US government stepped in and bought up all the unshipped rifles and even had the factories produce more, many of which were issued to reserve troops and units of the national guard. Both the US surcharged rifles and those which were purchased but never entered into Army stockpiles were later sold by the forerunner of the CMP to US citizens in the 20's, at a loss of about 90% of the original purchase price. Others were bought by companies like Bannerman's of New York, then sold both here and abroad (some were even rechambered to 30-06). Rifles that made it to Russia were confiscated by Finland after the Finns declared their independence from Russia, several were also sent to Spain during the Spanish Civil War of the 30's. Others wound up in various Balkan countries, and a large number were captured by the Germans and Austrians during the war, quite a few of those eventually were sold to Finland, as that country adopted the Mosin rifle as the basis of their firearms through WWII. It's uncommon (though not unheard of) for a Remington or NEW barrel to be shortened to 91/30 lengths, and converted to those specifications. It's much more likely that your friend's rifle is still in it's original M91 form, a lot of people who are relatively unfamilair with Mosins in general will often confuse those two variants. Either way, $150 for any Remington Mosin rifle would be considered a bargain today.2 points

Hey guys. This feels a bit awkward for me to write, but I just have to give props to the guys at On Target. First, the background info. I used to be a member at On Target 7-8 years ago and felt like I was taken care of as a range member, but not much else. When money got tight, I didn't renew my membership and due to a lot of other circumstances I pretty much quit the gun hobby for a few years. About 3.5 years ago I slowly started shooting/buying again. There were a few familiar faces at On Target, one of them a good friend who continued to be awesome, but everyone else was new. Um... dunno how to say this but I was very unimpressed and almost felt unwelcome. I still stopped in every few months anyway and soon even my one last hold-out good guy left/quit/gotfired/idunnoineverfoundout/healwayssaidhewantedtomovetoalaska/guessmaybehedid was no longer there. At that point I kind of gave up on the shop. Fast forward again to last August. For a short time I worked at Nissan and took advantage of a screamin' deal on an annual membership that was offered to Nissan employees which I heard about through a co-worker. I figured I would just use the range and nothing else... just a cheap place to shoot while protected from the elements. This was great at first, but a lot of things had changed since I had shot there before. I used to be able to shoot whatever kind of rifle or shotgun I wanted without a second thought or extra cost penalty. When I first brought an AR for wifey to shoot, the told me I could not shoot my steel cased bi-metal stuff. Ixnay on the ootingshay for that day as that was all I brought. :/ Next time I brought brass 223 so she could shoot that, and they had just started another new rule that you had to buy THEIR rifle ammo to shoot. (Note: only affects rifles, not handguns) :-( Due to me being a terrible cheapskate, I now simply view OT as a pistol only range. The rifle lanes are currently down due to needing repair anyway, but I understand they should be back up soon. Doesn't sound like a glowing review so far, does it? As of six months ago, I was still pretty sour on the place, but I did have that membership to take advantage of. I don't know exactly when it happened, but in my time away the staff changed completely, and I believe my previous history with OT and my idea of what it WAS conflicted with how the places operates now (much better, imho) caused me to take a dim view of what were some necessary changes there. In the months I have been going I have gotten to know some of the guys, and have received some great help. Also, one of my really good friends started working there recently. When he started I told him how frustrated I was with OT when I started going back, and how I disliked some of the changes. Honestly, because of my respect for him I started to give the shop another chance at earning my favor... not just being a place to shoot, but a place to shop, bring friends, and get help with my various projects. I wanted to share this with my other Mid TN folks who maybe have felt a little turned off by OT in the past. I really do believe the place is a much friendlier and helpful store than it was a few years ago. It took me some time to come around, and of course the fact that my friend works there to really give them another chance. No, I have not gotten a single discount on anything because I am friends with anyone there, and this post is completely unsolicited. I just wanted to share my experience. What really made me do this was the help I got yesterday. I'm not going to get too detailed but suffice it to say two guys there went WAY above and beyond yesterday helping me with some items I didn't even purchase there. (NRAAM show deal.) The guy that really stepped up huge doesn't even know me. He just knew how to help, so he did. I'm seriously grateful. I just feel I had to share this. I'm just asking that if there are any of you guys out there that have felt like I did in the past about OT... if you swore them off a few years ago... please just give them another shot (pun intended) to help you again. I know that in the past I had spoken of some of my dissatisfaction with OT, so I feel it's only fair that I also share how I feel now. No, they're not going to win on price very often at first glance, but at least give them a look. I haven't bought any guns recently, but when I wanted some Magpul parts for my 500, they were within $2 of any other supplier, and I got to check the stuff out before buying. Thanks everyone for your time. If you're in the area and haven't stopped by OT in awhile, go say "Hi" to Josh, Kevin, or Tyler. They've won me back, and I hope they can help you, too.1 point

I'm waiting for the TP9SF to be imported, I was talking with the rep at the booth and he said mid summer for them to hit our shores. The SF will be strictly a striker fired gun with no decocker at all. Basically a Turkish Glock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGTA00JS-F01 point

We all realize that the end of the session is a totally self-imposed, arbitrary deadline - right? A friend of mine in South Carolina bought one recently and left this report on another forum: "I recently purchased a Canik TP9SA. I knew nothing about it but saw something on the web so I started to do a little research on it. The more I saw / read the more I liked, especially the price point at $340 and all the other goodies it comes with. As you can see in the attachment it come with two holster options: paddle or belt loop. Ironically I carry a very similar rig on duty. It comes with two 18 round magazines as well as two different backstraps to fit your hand and the cleaning bore and brush. I chose the Desert Tan just to be a little different. I have to say that it is one of the smoothest shooting pistols I have ever fired. If you like Glocks then you will recognize the trigger pull. I am just guessing but would put it around 5lbs. Very clean and real nice crisp reset... better that a Glock. With two 18 round mags you can have a lot of fun on the range without having to stop to reload. We shot 124 gr FMJ with a very very pleasent recoil. It was very accurate right out of the box even though you can adjust for windage. I have to admit I could not tell too much difference with the two different backstraps but I have largeish hands. I only wiped it down a little from the box then took it straight to the range. It breaks down real easy for cleaning and I have to admit that with the weapon being Desert tan made it easy to tell where you needed to clean better! The few bad remarks from folks on you tube all centered around this being used as a CCW. With the ambi decocker on the top of the slide like it is I can see the point however I did not buy this gun as a CCW but as a fun, inexpensive range toy. I will say one thing... you only have to pull the slide about 1/4 inch to re-engage the striker pin. At only $340 bucks I have absolutly no complaints." Hope it helps. If we assume the car saw him, the driver had no way of knowing that the squid was doing 100MPH in traffic. The driver had plenty of time to complete the turn had the rider been doing 60MPH, which was the speed limit. This accident is 100% (or should we say 97%) on the rider, not the driver.1 point

As a Home Inspector my advice is as follows.... The mold or fungus is there because there is water/ moisture in the crawlspace. The mold and or fungus can not live without water. First you have to find the cause of the moisture and correct that problem. Is it ground water, leaky pipe, exterior rain water entering the area what ever, you have to cure that water problem. IF not any clean up will be useless and the issue will return. Next a complete covering of the ground with a thick plastic is needed from wall to wall. No gaps. Is there a way for any water that enters later ...leaky pipe.... to exit the crawlspace. Floor drain or sump pump. Proper ventilation is a must.... Many people today are sealing their crawlspaces and making them conditioned spaces to prevent problems. Still not sure about this not enough time gone by to see if this really works. There are many companies that will do the work need to cure the problem. As an Inspector if i came to inspect this home and found it had new plastic and clean and dry surroundings there would be no issue to report to the client. Not all inspectors are residential mold certified and their insurance companies will not let them talk about mold for that reason. Hope this helps.1 point

Somehow, I see it quite the opposite. I COULD argue (I won't though) that those who pay $200, submit fingerprints, photo and whatever else to the feds, ask permission of their local police chief and wait several months simply to ask permission to own an item that is Constitutionally protected are the ones voluntarily taking it in the arse. Perhaps the people who are putting what is essentially a stock on their pistols (and NOT the pansies writing a letter to some bureaucracy asking for their blessing, BTW) are basically raising a middle finger to an overgrown federal leviathon and saying "eff yoo". I know which ones I think are most likely to end up in a threesome with the two chicks. BTW, I know it was just a joke and I do not intend to offend anyone who owns a registered NFA weapon. (P.S. Was that first paragraph a great run-on sentence, or what?)1 point
